I can't see! :' (

xD, well, you might have figured what I'm about to ask you, probably not, though, since it's a bit general.

It deals with the dark. Have you ever been scared of the dark like when you were young, or even better, are you scared of the dark? Do you sleep with a nightlight? xD

I used to be terrified of the dark when I was little. Had two nightlights and they were always close. But nowadays, I feel cured of the darkness... still, it does get to me at times when I'm in pitch black darkness. Hehe. : ]

Esper January 15th, 2010 3:26 PM

I used to think that aliens were outside my window, waiting for me to turn out the lights. Now that I know better am older I only worry about more mundane things like burglars and wild dogs waiting for me to turn out the lights, but not really. I'm not afraid of the dark.

Shedinja8 January 15th, 2010 3:28 PM

I used to, but now surprisingly I prefer to be in the dark. Light has just been just getting brighter and brighter. Talk about can't see.

Cheesymitten January 15th, 2010 3:31 PM

When I was younger I liked the landing light on.
But now that i'm a bigger boy I like it when it's dark, I can get to sleep easier..

Miz en Scène January 15th, 2010 3:41 PM

There's nothing scary about the dark. I used to be, but logic won over. An absence of light doesn't mean that the amount of Djiin everywhere is more. So I proceed as normal. The only thing that I fear in the dark are assassins, snipers or the wrath of God(which I also fear in the light).

Caelus January 15th, 2010 3:46 PM

A lot of times I prefer the dark, but when it comes to sleeping I sometimes struggle to sleep in the darkness, and so I keep the TV on.

I'm not really afraid of it, though. It did scare me when I was younger.

Belinda January 15th, 2010 3:58 PM

When I was a little young boy I always kept those night lights close by,I was scared of the dark like every little kid is lol. Now that I'm older I don't need some nightlight. I've actually become a person who likes the dark. Bright stuff in my eyes is not pleasant anyways.

poopnoodle January 15th, 2010 4:00 PM

When I was little I would turn off the lights and quickly jump into bed and hide under the covers, because I was scared of demon arms snatching me from under my bed. Lol. These days, in my more paranoid frenzies, I plan out what items around me I would use as weapons in the unlikely event some creep broke into my window.

BHwolfgang January 15th, 2010 4:14 PM

I wasn't scared of the dark until I was thirteen years old. XD Well, now I can sleep comfortably during those full moon nights.

There is still a pinch of fear when I finally turn the lights off. The feeling that I'm alone in the dark at night is kinda fearful, but only for a moment.

Pokémon Ranger ✩ Moriarty January 15th, 2010 4:26 PM

I'm 21 in April.

And I'm still terrified of the dark. I have a night-light and everything. And a torch on my bedside table. >:

I dunno. They say everybody's got one thing they're mortally afraid of, and this is mine (:

Captain Hobo. January 15th, 2010 4:46 PM

I was scared of the dark when I was little and I am still I little scared now.

Zeta Sukuna January 15th, 2010 4:50 PM

I need to have my light on, yes, my main light. Why? Well, my imagination is so broad, it makes me hear and see things in the dark that are horrifying. I need to keep my light on, or I will be plagued with whispers and 'movements'. I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm afraid of my imagination in the dark.

This is basically the same for me, as well. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of the dark or being in the dark. When I'm in the dark, however, I lose my ability to see. Fairly obvious, but due to the fact that I can't see what's going on around me (even though nothing is going on around me) my hearing seems to be magnified because I can hear pretty much everything going on in my house and I typically hear at least one sound that normally wouldn't be so scary, but its enough to make me feel rather terrified for a split second.

Sometimes I listen to music while I'm trying to go to sleep. I have a habit of playing music rather loudly when I'm alone but I can't do that because I need to hear what's going on around me due to paranoia. If I can't see or hear,... blah! I don't even know. There's a volume limit to where I start to feel chills when I've gotten there so I know not to pass that. But I'd much rather be listening to music than my magnified hearing delusions.

My main paranoia is that someone is downstairs, though, whenever I go there in the dark. So going outside of my room in the dark requires at least two lights to be turned on. Thankfully, one light switch is right outside my door. Unfortunately, my room is right at the top of the stairs. I remember being scared to go out of my room in the dark because of that, but that isn't the case anymore.

Anxiety. January 15th, 2010 5:02 PM

Hm... well... I like to have a light on but I'm not scared of the dark. I'm clumsy and I always stub my goddamn toe on my desk, y'see.

I used to be terrified of it though.

Code January 15th, 2010 5:05 PM

I'm just scared of it when I drink too much coffee in the middle of the night. I imagine hearing creepy sounds. Just like right now. XD

Rogue planet January 15th, 2010 5:09 PM

Can't say that I am, or ever have been, afraid of the dark. I actually find it difficult to sleep unless it's pitch black. It doesn't take long for my eyes to adjust so I can see anyway.

ÇyänïdëÉX January 15th, 2010 7:27 PM

I don't think anything paranormal hides in the dark but some times since i am alone at home most of the night i fear that when i go take a shower and come back out that some one might have broken in and waiting in the shadows too crack me with a bat.

When i was little i don't really remember. I think we slept with the bathroom light on...heh.

gummybarz January 15th, 2010 7:29 PM

The dark frightens me now and then, I do sleep with my bedroom light on though.

Ayselipera January 15th, 2010 7:50 PM

When I was little I was petrified of the dark. I was afraid of an assortment of monsters if that's what you'd like to call them. My mom who loves buying little knick knacks then decided to buy me nightlights that went with the seasons. During the winter it was a snowman, spring was an angel, summer was a bunch of flowers, and the fall was a pumpkin.

I now prefer to sleep in absolute darkness. It's kind of weird how things turned out.

Jesus oƒ Suburbia January 15th, 2010 8:00 PM

Only if it's quiet as well...
My own imagination tries to kill me. ._.

But now, I just put my iPod on, turn off all the lights and go to bed. <3

♣Gawain♣ January 16th, 2010 3:45 AM

I'm still afraid of the dark, who knows what's concealed there? It's my childhood fear and I still carry it...

Neko-sama January 16th, 2010 4:03 AM

Well i have an overactive imagination so im always thinking random thoughts lol. But i used to not like the dark but now i'm alot older i can't sleep when it's too light or have trouble getting off to sleep.

Sleep is regulated through external light sources ^_^

Idiot! January 16th, 2010 5:13 AM

In the civilised world, I prefer to turn on the lights when the sun goes down.

In the wilderness, strangely I love the pure darkness the night brings

heh, my favourite 'weapon of safety' was my pool cue :L

Saltare. January 16th, 2010 8:29 AM

I used to be scared of the dark. Now I like it(: Except when I'm awake and it's 2 a.m. and it's pitch black in my room...I'm scared something is gonna come out and eat me...

Haha, that's kind of funny. Some scientists believe that the sunlight reaching Earth over the past few decades has been less than normal, generally dimming the light. They call this Global Dimming. Not that this is related to the topic, just what you said made me think of this. :P

As for being afraid of the dark... I was when I was younger. Use to hide underneath my covers hoping nothing scary was looking over me. These days though, I like the dark and it rarely ever creeps me out lol.

iLaxbe! January 16th, 2010 9:25 AM

I'm afraid of the dark after I watch a scary movie, nothing but this.
Idk why, but I get to sleep faster when the lights are turned on. I mean, right on my face. O_O

mikey January 16th, 2010 5:56 PM

I'm not scared of the dark, but I do feel uneasy sometimes, like if its dark and extremely quiet.

Ninetales433 January 16th, 2010 6:55 PM

No,I never was afraid of the dark.I'm only afraid of it when I hear a noise.

Negative-Zero January 16th, 2010 6:58 PM

im only afraid of the dark when its pitch black..

.little monster January 16th, 2010 7:03 PM

I am not afraid of the dark, but I do get a bit paranoid. :/ Nothing that big though, because I know nothing's there.

Pitch dark is kind of cool in my opinion.

Guillermo January 16th, 2010 9:27 PM

I used to sleep with a lava lamp on all the time but now I don't think there would be anything worse. I love the dark now.

ArcanineOod January 17th, 2010 10:47 AM

I used to be terrified of the dark, but I got over it.
Then I watched a certain episode of Doctor Who, and suddenly the lights being off and me not being able to see anything that might be coming for me became a big thing again. Thankfully, I'm less scared now than I was before. My paranoia and general fearful disposition still manages to win over logic.

I used to sleep with a nightlight because I was scared, but now I can't sleep unless the room is pitch black. Even the tiniest bit of light keeps me awake.

Just last night I was on an expedition and the group I was in didn't manage to get back to the cabins until the sky was black. Now, I like going for walks in the dark, but I was cold, wet, my boots didn't fit properly and the only light came from our torches. We were walking along a very minor road with large hedges at the side. That feeling of being trapped in an unrelenting darkness was really quite scary.
