Deaf or blind?
So if in a wost case scenario would you rather be deaf or blind? My chose would be rather to be deaf then blind, even though you can't hear what people are saying there is still sign language that can translate what people are saying for you. Plus, you can't go on PC if your blind :3
|
Deaf, i know a kid on another forum that 'went' deaf.
He had some kind of virus in his body that made him go deaf, so he can still talk though. |
I would rather be deaf, because I am a visual artist, and the sounds I heard through my life would still exist through memories. Losing sound is not nearly as bad as losing sight.
However, not to say that blind people can't be awesome. (STEVIE WONDER, I REFER TO YOU) |
That is simple! blind! so i don't have to look at this sad rotting world any more..but i can still hear it!!
|
I would rather be deaf, because
A) I'm a klutz, and not being able to see would just make my health, and the health of the people around me, worse, and B) It would be fun not to be able to hear what my parents had to say to me. xD |
I think I'd rather be blind, because I would still want to be able to hear music and movies. I'd also like to still be able to hold conversations and hear what the other person is saying back to me.
|
I already have bad hearing so I wouldn't loose as much going deaf as I would if I went blind. I'd hate it if couldn't watch a sunset or see the stars.
|
Hmm...blind. Cause I cannot live without music.
Plus, this girl was blind in my school last year. She was a wrestler. She was better than ALL the boys. They tied bells around her opponents wrist and ankles so she could hear where they were. |
Deaf. I want to play video games and see family!
|
Deaf is my choice. |
I prefer to be deaf rather than to be blind. :p
|
I'd rather be deaf than blind. I would not want to lose my vision.
|
Blind.
Because music is basically a huge part of my world, and I'd probably go crazy if I couldn't hear it anymore. Sure, I'd miss seeing things I like to see, but that's a small price to pay. Besides, I could use my imagination to envision things I can't see. |
I prefer deaf.I like music,but I can't live without my vision.
|
I'd have to say deaf. I would really, really hate to be unable to listen to music, but at the same time, I really couldn't live without my writing. I know there's ways around this, but I'm a stubborn person at heart, and I'd rather stick to the way things are done now.
Besides, I probably would be more of a klutz than I am now if I went blind. I hardly pay attention to things as is. XD; |
Deaf. People can't yell at me any more. I can also choose to freely ignore what I like
|
I'd go with blind, easily. I'll still be able to write and listen to music, and at the same time it would eliminate me judging people by looks (which I don't really do but in all honesty everybody does it and there's no way to avoid it).
|
Deaf. I can live without music, but I couldn't live without books.
|
I've thought about this before, actually. But really, who hasn't?
I'd much rather be deaf than blind. Between reading text books, taking notes, being online and other daily activities, being deaf would alter my life much less than being blind would. Sure, I wouldn't be able to listen to my favorite music or really continue to pursue my degree in a language, but life wouldn't be so bad. Plus, I'd no longer have to hear my roommate snoring at night. XD; |
I believe I've always picked being deaf over being blind. I'm an avid writer and keep a diary. If I wasn't able to record my life, I'm not sure what I'd do. Plus, I convey my thoughts better simply typing or writing things out. If I had to resort to writing more so than talking, I wouldn't be in a horrid situation. I'd still be able to read and do homework if I was deaf. Yes, you can read when you're blind with Braille, but it would take a long time to develop a sense of security in reading through touch. I would also still like to be able to see what I'm wearing and what I look like. I have trust issues, so I would always believe people that people would be messing with my food or whatever being blind.
Deafness isn't much better than being blind, considering that I'm a musician, but I think I could overcome lack of hearing with my willpower. Beethoven was able to play and write music without his hearing, so why wouldn't I be able to? I could still read my music and feel the way it's being played, so I think I'd be ok. Also, I believe that a deaf person is a bit more self sufficient than a blind person, so I would still like my independence. |
Deaf. I wouldn't want to miss all the wonders of the world! :D
|
I would rather be deaf because i could learn sign language, and if i was blind i would not be able to do the things that i do (such as reading 4 one)
|
i would rather be deaf. i would be so upset and rather die if i couldnt see anything.
|
Deaf. Im a writer. To never be able to finish my book or articles or poems would be like death on the inside. Already have poor vision and i hate it. Losing it completely would drive me insane. Plus being deaf means never having listen to dumb---es.
|
Deaf because I could just get a hearing aid.
|
^lol
Deaf, because losing your most important sense is like death itself setting upon you. |
Deaf, because there are implants - as well as hearing aids - that allow you to hear. Blindness is a lot harder to cure...
|
...Surprised so many said deaf o_o;
I would prefer to be blind for many reasons. One reason is because as strange as it sounds - I can't live without hearing Forever, honestly. If I'm upset, it's able to make me happy, and make me generally forget what was wrong with me. That may just be a song, but it's been able to change my life. Another reason is because if I don't have sound, then I feel scared... I don't like when anything is quiet, so if I was deaf, that would really suck. And being blind, yeah, I'll miss sight... but still, I don't wanna lose my sound. D: |
I would rather be deaf, even though I wouldn't consider either if I had the choice...
It would be fun for a while, not hearing my parents screaming at my ear for the rest of my life, but things tend to get really boring when one loses his/her five sense. :< |
I would rather be deaf, because I could still live semi-normally with a slight impairment.
|
To be honest, if I had to choose I'd rather just die.
Both are essential to me, and I'm a bit of a weakling. It's so bad that I can't even decide which one I'd rather be. I've thought about how things would be if I lost them and I can say that I really wouldn't be able to carry on if I lost either of them... |
Between deaf and blind, I would have to choose being deaf, because without sight I would just be natural klutz not knowing where anything is. As much as I love music, not being able to see what there is out there would only mean missing out on something special. Plus, I'd like to know what's happening with my eyes, not only my ears alone. It's a tough decision though, but I'm glad I'm not deaf nor blind ... yet at least. >.>
|
I'd rather be deaf. I'd hate to be unable to hear my favourite songs but... most of what I do from day to day is visual. I can get by without hearing things. But without seeing? I can't even imagine that. I'd rather give up my hearing than my vision for sure.
|
Wooow.. I honestly had to think about this for a couple of minutes. I'd hate to not be able to hear, because I love music, and singing and all that jazz. At the same time, almost everything else that I enjoy relies on sight.. I'd be pretty screwed as far as doing the things I like to do, if I were blind. D;
Soo.. I'd rather lose my hearing, if I had to pick. |
This is tough. If this were 20 years into the past before there was internet, I'd pick blind. But since I spend so much time on the computer and the internet and sight is much more useful than sound for such a pastime, I'll pick deaf.
Living in a world of silence seems pretty uncanny to me and we wouldn't be used to a scenario, since we don't spend a good portion of time with our ears plugged. Living in a world of darkness might not be as anomalous, since we do it all the time: whenever we lie in bed, trying to fall asleep. |
It's a tough choice... I like music and art equally, but I suppose usefullness should outweigh personal preference. Therefore, I am going to say deaf. It's not a new experience to me, though. I had a very severe double ear infection that reduced my hearing down to almost nothing for a short time.
|
I prefer a colorful vibrant world(mostly in subtle shades of dull brown and gray) over any other sense.
I think my answer is painfully obvious here. |
If I had a nickel for every time I've had this debate with myself...
Being blind is definitely worse in terms of how physically limiting it is. But at the same time, music is such an important part of my life that I can't imagine what I would do without it. Frankly, both would be unbearable. |
I would go blind. Deaf people can 'see' with their ears.
|
Hmmm..I'd rather choose to be deaf.
Well all the things I ever hear in my life is the busy traffic and my parent's lectures. I like listening to songs and all, but it doesn't beat being able to see. You can do more things with your eyes than your ears. |
