Weird Things About Pokemon

Its kinda weird that in pokemon, ash's pikachu fights a dragonite, zapdos, mewtwo, entei, rayquaza, deoxys, ancient groundon, and he beats all of the gym leaders in the past 3 seasons! But in pokemon DP he loses to a new chimchar that paul just got! Weird ain't it?

nakoma January 18th, 2010 2:00 PM

Indeed, but nintendo has to milk the anime so it stoped making sense long ago. It has it's moments still if you ignore the logical flaws.

Opposite Day January 18th, 2010 3:09 PM

Or Paul's Chimchar could be ridiculously strong? I mean, heck, we are at 4rth gen. now, the pokemon HAVE to get tougher in order to survive the higher-powered attacks! ;D

Weird Things About Pokemon

another weird thing is that, the older pokemon had a limit to evolution...now every time a new season comes out new evolve forms suddenly pop up. Take rhyhorn for an example.....for 3 seasons it could only evolve into rhydon...BUT in pokemon DP if you step into the sinnoh region with a rhydon you had for 50 years it can now suddenly evolve into rhyperior. (and rhyperior looks like a robot)

Well, if you consider the fact that the Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum games introduced tons of new evolutions and prevolutions (rhyperior included), it's not really that much of a surprise that those evos and prevos are to appear in their respective anime seasons as well--

Of course, Munchlax appeared in the Deoxys movie, but still. I know, I know, it doesn't make much sense that suddenly your rhydon evolves into rhyperior when logic ought to tell you that it could evolve into its final form ANYWHERE....

But really, since when did the anime and games make 100% sense?

Spikey-Eared Pichu January 18th, 2010 4:57 PM

I always found some of the evoltuons of various Pokemon to be rather...odd. I mean, take the Caterpie and Venonat lines for example: Butterfree, Caterpie's final form, looks closer in appearance to a developed Venonat and Venamoth, Venonat's final form, looks more closely in appearance to Caterpie. Same goes for Luvdisc and Gorebyss who look shocking similar yet have no relation whatsoever other than that they're native to Hoenn. As is also the case with Sharpedo and Garchomp, whom both have similar appearances and markings.

Sigh, Game Freak has left us with an incountable number of oddities in the Pokemon universe -_- And by that, I mean...Magikarp.

hackmo January 18th, 2010 6:16 PM

the pokemon get crazier and crazier each season. it goes from mewtwo from kanto to the 17"-- garitina. garitina reminds me of a godzilla monster. and why do the DP legendaries have to be so big or too small or just godly.

Dawn Rules January 19th, 2010 4:10 AM

What makes no sence is that how does team rocket balst off by Thunderbolt? how can an explosion send team rocket flying it makes no sence.

Code January 19th, 2010 4:29 AM

Only a few things make sense in pokemon. The anime makers and game developers choose what logic they want to ignore, and what they want to follow. XD

Serene Grace January 19th, 2010 8:28 AM

This thread is refering to Ash which gives me the impression that you want to discuss the Pokemon Anime series. So I'll move it to the Pokemon TV Show and Movies forum.

Thread Moved.

How they manage to support themselves financially.

None of them appear to have any source of income, no job, nothing, yet they are able to go wandering where they want with no issues or monetary concerns.

Have you like, ever watched television before? The concern of income is rarely focused on. Look at The Simpsons and all the stuff they do despite Homer's modest salary at a mid-level nuclear power plant.

Mew~ January 20th, 2010 8:28 AM

Well... it doesnt matter if pauls just caught the chimchar (he might not have XD) It was very powerfull when paul caught it... it beat a pack of zangoose with flame wheel! CHIMCHAR FTW!!! PIKACHU FTW!!!!
Plus it wont really be fair if ashs pikachu is strong... he wanted to start and new journey with totaly new "weak" pokemon... !!!

hackmo January 20th, 2010 1:41 PM

every time a new season comes out, theres a new professor and everything... BUT all of the professors apparently know each other as friends. somewhere around the first season professor oak told ash that there was approximately 150 pokemon (MAX) in the world. if that was true professor oak would've told ash that there was 458 pokemon and 35 legendaries. he also would've told ash that that mew isnt the strongest, arceus is. (well according to DP.......)

------------------------------

Ash has the 2nd strongest pikachu in the pokemon world! Aside from Sparky (Ricky's pikachu who is the strongest....FOR NOW)

pikapika44 January 20th, 2010 2:05 PM

Yeah it doesn't make any sense. Chimchar would've envolved by now (He did.) But with Paul, if it were so strong, it would've been an infernape.

MadaraUchiha. January 20th, 2010 2:21 PM

What about team rocket getting shot off into who knows where and then next episode they are right there stalking ash again...
And how ash goes to a new league without beating the elite 4 of the one he was in...

GDark08 January 22nd, 2010 8:53 PM

What I've always found rather strange is the very last legendaries at the end of each generational line, (Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, etc.). They tend to be very... cute in design, are only available through distribution at special events, and are considered individually the only ones of their kind and are ungodly powerful. However, when they appear in the anime, why is that they seemed to be eternally child-like in demeanor? Is there some unwritten rule that recipients of tremendous, psychic or supernatural power be in the form of something you'd most see as being a stuffed toy?

lavenderbolt January 23rd, 2010 9:10 AM

weird thing is that almost all pokemon can be knocked out easily by seismic toss of charizard, pikachu won many big, powerful and even legendary pkm including golem, reice, rhydon,... but lost to bellsprout, eevee, chimchar,... and dialga's aura sphere hit giratina which is a ghost-type pkm but palkia's aura sphere did no damage to arceus when it changed to ghost type.

Esmas January 23rd, 2010 6:53 PM

What I found weird was that Professor Oak had JUST invented the PokéDex, although he'd been a Trainer for, what, close to 50 years? What did they do before its invention? And the games take place basically in the future. I mean...they have glass doors that move sideways! :o;

Also, why are Kanto Pokémon found first, then suddenly a whole new batch of about 100 appear?

Sir Sterling January 23rd, 2010 9:58 PM

I stopped watching the show years ago, but I saw one of the current generation battle scenes online and I was literally beside myself laughing when it was over.

1. Pikachu did Thunder while on Swellow's back and Swellow survived
2. Swellow knocked out Lunatone by using Aerial Ace
3. THUNDER CREATED ARMOR ON PIKACHU AND SWELLOW LOLOLOLOLOL THEY WERE LAIK SUPER SAYAN!

The whole scene was just one big LOLWUT.

Amore January 24th, 2010 4:22 AM

Lol.Yeah, and how Pikachu beat an Onix in 1st season with Thundershock.

Also, did you see the latest episode where they're shrunk?

Piplup used Bubblebeam on Camerupt-good.
Pikachu used Thunderbolt-bad.

Then again, Pikachu's thunderbolt makes Camerupt explode!!

And they wondered how Piplup couldn't harm Camerupt.Isn't it obvious?Ash neautralised the Water with Thunderbolt.

hackmo January 24th, 2010 2:02 PM

Never forget about TR...(team rocket) since they got blown up by water, electricity, etc. every episode of the first season, they should have found the other 3 regions already. They fly into Nowhereland, they have to land somewhere...

Emotion. January 24th, 2010 2:13 PM

How team rocket get blasted high in the sky, and never seem to get seriously injured from the explosion or landings.

GoldvsRed January 24th, 2010 2:47 PM

This one's in the games. I hope it still counts. Don't you think it's just so strange how EVERYONE is ONLY talking about Pokemon? No one talks about current events, careers, relationships, etc... It's JUST Pokemon. That'd be like if all I talked about were my cats and dogs! Also, how do 90+ CDs (TMs) fit into a little backpack, and not get scraped and mutilated by a bicycle that somehow fits in there, too? How does that work out? Also, why aren't Poke Balls and the Storage System ever explained? Do the Pokemon just sleep in there, is it an artificial environment, or are they quite literally squeezed into such a tiny space? Oy.

pyronical January 24th, 2010 2:59 PM

The characters supposed ages seem weird to me, as I wrote in my other thread in this forum.
