Smeargle - well, you got your work cut out if you want to get this strategy to work. Something faster comes out, and boom - there goes Smeargle. Pick your opponents very carefully

Groudon - drop some of those Speed EVs into HP and Defence, gives Groudon some much needed lastability. Also, I'm not a fan of mixed sweeper Groudon, and Overheat won't help you against Chlorophyll users anyway. As soon as Exeggutor comes out, bye bye Groudon. HP Bug or HP Ghost over Overheat.

Jumpfluff - since your only attack move here is HP Flying, Jumpfluff is screwed against so many opponents - Weezing, Steelix, Aggron, insert physical tank here. Synthesis gets screwed over if you lose the weather anyway, and you'll be using it every turn with Jumpfluff's below-average defences.

[email protected]
EV: 252 Speed, 129 HP, 129 Sp Def
Nature: + Speed, - Sp Att
Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Cotton Spore
Substitute

Make your opponent slower to help the rest of the team.

Sceptile - I'm not a fan of something that has tanking moves with below average defences. Sceptile is one such Pokemon. I prefer a sweeper personally:

[email protected] Berry
EV: 252 Speed, 252 Sp Att, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Speed, - Att
Dragon Claw
Crunch
HP Fire
Solarbeam/Leaf Blade

I only suggest Solarbeam since you have a Groudon abusing team. HP Fire + Sunny Day to deal with other grass types (and Steel types go down fast too). Also, you can replace Crunch with Thunderpunch if you're on Emerald

Vileplume - hhm... moveset works I guess, but I see a heavy vunerability to fire on your team. Rather replace Vileplume with Miltank for Heal Bell

Houndoom - Will-O-Wisp won't save Houndoom from physical attacks, unfortunately. Go with:

[email protected] Berry
EV: 252 Speed, 252 Sp Att, 6 Sp Def
Crunch/Pursuit
Solarbeam
Flamethrower
HP Ice

Choose Pursuit for some STAB switching nastiness (who needs Spikes?), and HP Ice as an unexpected and helpful surprise for Dragons and if you lose the weather.

Overall, the glaring problems I see are:

Heavy reliability on sleep powder. Sleep Clause screws you over, and since most people use it, your team loses effectiveness.
Vunerability to special tanks - Blissey owns over half of this team, and other special tanks are able to take out a fair few as well.

Ice demon October 25th, 2004 1:00 PM

Not so bad with Smeragle
but u know the problem with this thing so i won't tell u...............

Jumpluff[jolly]
EVs - Sp, Att, hp
aerial ace/giga drain
sword dance/encore
leech seed
sleep powder

Lol he rules......................evidently aerial ace and sword dance will be used together

Anyway blissey owns everyone but groudon.......who will be destroyed by eggy anyway......................................................
and owns smergle if it has counter
+ whats up with all these sleeping moves??

Frostweaver October 25th, 2004 3:19 PM

Smeragle- if you're going to pass to Groudon, pass SPEED. Groudon already got an attack into the high 350+, and it can swords dance itself. What it needs is a speed to outrun Eggy (aka 400+)

Groudon- Though you *can* change the EV setup, this one is fine too, as Groudon is trying to sweep afterall with baton pass assistance.

Jumpluff- doesn't need cotton spore Toothy because chlorophyll will always make the entire team outrun all but Ninjask. Ditch Synthesis as you got a def where you probably die in one hit. Get aerial ace (sacrificing some power) but this frees up HP for other physical elemental attacks.

Sceptile- useless within the context of this party... what you need is a physical sweeper to assist Groudon, not another special sweeper which you're loaded with already.

Vileplume- just like Jumpluff, I'll ditch out Synthesis for HP Fire (or HP Electric for Gyarados/Ice for Salamence to be not as predictable)

Houndoom- I'll also recommand pursuit over crunch. Will o wisp isn't very useful on this team where no one but Groudon can defend anything, so I'll ditch that for HP Ice. Every team needs ice moves against those nasty dragon dancers...

Problem

-T-tar weakness
-Sleep clause dependent
-Pokemon aren't too flexible (ex: Jumpluff)
-Exeggutor weakness
-Gyarados/Salamence weakness
