Will you make a new team for Kanto?

I don't think this has been asked before in a thread....

After defeating the Elite 4 and Lance, will you make an entirely new team, carry over your Johto team, or just keep one of two pokemon with you??

Me personally, i'm getting an EV trained Shiny Ambipom at lv.45 (as far as i can tell the first trainers i encounter are lv.50???), and my Shiny Sneasel (levelled up to lv.45 through daycare and rare candies on Platinum), and i'll start with them and get new pokemon, i.e. if i use Lapras in Johto, i'll get my Poliwrath/Politoed for Kanto.

Lt_Nite February 19th, 2010 1:16 PM

Interesting I honestly never thought about it. Personally I'll just carry over most of my Johto team to Kanto, maybe switch s few pokemon but nothing too drastic.

Doogle3097 February 19th, 2010 1:20 PM

Yeah, I'm going to have an entirely new team. Since my current team for Johto are 3 Hoenn Pokémon & 3 Johto Pokémon, for Kanto I will have 3 from Sinnoh & 3 from Kanto.

Person Number 3 February 19th, 2010 2:47 PM

No, I'm not changing. I may make small changes, I guess, but I'll likely keep my Johto starter and two Pokemon from the beginning in Johto (advanced to level number AWESOME) as my main ingame team. Just like how the only team I use for battling in Platinum is Infernape, Luxray, and Vaporeon. two other slots are HM Slaves, and the final one is the Pokemon I'm currently working to evolve via Exp. Share for my Pokedex.

Guy February 19th, 2010 3:45 PM

Going through Kanto, I may be subjected to altering my team. I never did it in the original Gold and Silver, so just to make my experience of the game more enjoying, I'll take the effort into doing something different unlike before. It isn't until after I complete the game (after Red), will I actually take the extra effort to work on a competitive Wi-Fi team and also work something new for the Pokéathlon.

Through Kanto though, I may just switch around a couple of my Pokémon, but I'll do so without trading as I'm giving myself a fresh start through the game's story line. I don't have anything planned, so it's unsure, but we'll see what happens I guess.

Kiri Berry February 19th, 2010 3:48 PM

Most likely I won't change them. I'm not sure though. Depends on what I decide while I'm playing it.

Newbie 2.0 February 19th, 2010 4:12 PM

It'll be hard to start fresh in Kanto, because the gym leaders and trainers are going to be at a much higher level, so you're going to need higher level Pokemon.

So no!

Dragonpiece February 19th, 2010 4:16 PM

I may change, I may not. It all depends on when I get there.

blueblur155 February 19th, 2010 4:19 PM

I probably won't change my team when I make the transition to Kanto, although I may switch out a couple of pokemon depending on how I feel at the time.

Camisado February 19th, 2010 4:19 PM

I'm probably going to keep my Johto team, because I get far too attached...and they'll have taken me ages to train and will have got me through the Elite Four, so...seems a shame to change. xD

Luck February 19th, 2010 5:00 PM

Maybe I'll switch one of my members for a pokemon only available in Kanto, but otherwise no.

msdmario February 19th, 2010 5:48 PM

Sort of. I will probably drop 2 of my Pokemon for new ones at most. Since the National Dex is obtained after beating the Elite 4, I would use the opportunity to add Pokemon from the newer generations.

Nikorasu February 20th, 2010 9:54 AM

Never really thought about it really... I'm probalyl just going to alter my team while going through kanto i guess.

Caelus February 20th, 2010 11:54 AM

Never really thought about it, but I don't think I'll create an entirely new team for Kanto.

The most I would do is catch the other mascot or any other available legendary for Red, but that's about it.

OGthugster94 February 20th, 2010 12:51 PM

i will proly ditch my starter and create my own team of five in johto and pick up a legenday in kanto.

Chary February 20th, 2010 1:43 PM

I may change my team...,but only just one or two. It all depends on if they turn out being a pain to raise (I am using Tyranatar and Salamence=High level evos)

Imperator161 February 20th, 2010 1:43 PM

I doubt I'll change my team in Kanto. If I change my team at some point, it probably won't be until after I beat Kanto, anyway. Then again, I don't always use a full team when playing through the game (often, I have few Pokemon that I always keep with me and then some rotating spots), so I'll probably add Pokemon to the "rotation" without changing the main members of my team.

No too much work. Plus the Kanto Gym leaders do not start at lvl. 5 over again. They continue and grow from what you finished at in Johto. So getting that Nidoran and pidgey from lvl. 2-3 all the way to lvl. 48-60? Ha! No..

Green20 February 20th, 2010 4:41 PM

I always constantly change a few pokemon around so I'll most likely start over with the exception of my starter

rockman0 February 20th, 2010 5:49 PM

I don't think I'll make any big changes to my team when I reach Kanto.

Objection! February 20th, 2010 5:57 PM

Heck no. I'm choosing my team carefully in this game and I'm going to bust my butt getting them where I want them. Besides, the only Pokemon I'd want from Kanto would be the Legendaries, and I don't use them anyway.

It feels like I'm cheating when I do that. Anyone else get that feeling? It's the same with trading over Pokemon from old games to new ones, doesn't feel right.

`Kingdra February 20th, 2010 5:59 PM

Not really. Of course not a whole new team, but maybe switch a few Pokemon if I find better ones.

ソラ February 20th, 2010 6:51 PM

On my Soul Silver I didnt make a new team, After I beat the game, I started training a new team, but yeah. I re-started my HG, so I will be making a new team for my Kanto, But Ampharos is the only one that staying on that team.

GlitchCity February 20th, 2010 7:54 PM

Thats a good question. I never really thought of it. Well seeing that we will get the national dex right before we get on the SS aqua I might make a new team. But that's a big might for me.

Sweet Smoochum February 20th, 2010 8:13 PM

I never did that in the originals. I'm thinking of trading a Biberal into my game to use as an HM slave, because the move Deleter lives in Blackthorn, and I don't want to prevent my party from having a good moveset. I want to train several Pokemon, because once my Pokemon are at the level 100s, I use new ones. I might make a new team for Kanto after beating Red by using the ones I have in my PC. I'll level them up in Viridian forest or Mount Silver.
