To those who have to wait until the 25th/26th

To all Pokemon players who have to wait until the 25th/26th to recieve their copy of Heart Gold or Soul Silver due to release dates.
I would like to know how many of you are actually waiting until the official release in your country before you start to play the game?
Or are you impatient and started playing a rom first to see how it is?

I, personally am gonna wait until the 25th of March until I play this game because I don't want anything spoiled if I play a rom. :)

Distortion World March 15th, 2010 8:40 PM

I have a question. The mother tongue of the U.K is English right?

If I'm right on that, why don't they recieve the game the same time as us, or maybe even sooner?

Because it's not like YOUR english is different than ours, right?

Plus you live closer to Japan.

So why do you have to wait so much longer?

Dempa March 15th, 2010 8:44 PM

Hmm, well as long as I can remember, everything has always come out in Australia after everyone else.
And there are constant problems shipping games within the PAL region code.
There is always games that get postponed a further month or so because people can't get there stuff together and get a game over to Australia in time.
But I really have no idea why Australia, U.K and whichever other countries have to wait...

curiousnathan March 15th, 2010 8:53 PM

I am so waiting to play the game. Patience is rewarded. And in this case it really is. Becuase If I play a ROM it will spoil the game. Although I am not really good with being patient, I will do anything for pokemon! =D

Myles March 15th, 2010 10:33 PM

I'm waiting for the 25th. There is a NoE that has to look over the games before they get released in Europe. And they get the American versions. While they usually don't make any big changes, they obviously must do some stuff. And they want an appropriate release date that will make it sell well, it's not all about speed.

Geography doesn't really have anything to do with it. Although some Nintendo games do come to Australia first, just not Pokemon.

Toxicroak March 15th, 2010 11:49 PM

im buying it on the 25th, but i have already started playing the rom, but the constant freezing is starting to tick me off so i stopped playing :(

Same. I was always going to buy the French version, but I wanted to test the ROM.

Freezes too much due to the anti-piracy thing.

I'm expecting my copy of Soul Silver tomorrow :) I'm'a be so pleased to see it arrive at my door in its sparkly packaging!

The Japanese ROMs don't freeze, so you know.

JohnyyBoii March 16th, 2010 12:52 AM

i was looking for the rom but then i decided i might aswell just wait until the 25th and savour the moment :)

Brendonwii March 16th, 2010 1:29 AM

Hmm I'll get soul silver a few weeks after realease. (Dont care too much cause i have the Japanese Heart Gold, which i haven't done all of kanto)
Also its not a rom i bought the legit copy.

lol you actually bought the jap version?

Finnel March 16th, 2010 4:11 AM

I've already played it a bit on emulator, but I'll be getting it for real on the 26th.

I'm surprised that Australia is getting it earlier than Europe, even if it is only by a day.

Brendonwii isn't alone. I bought a japanese copy aswell and I live in Australia and am waiting for heart gold to release here.

My japanese copy is soul silver.

To be quite honest I'm not that excited about the release anymore. Have heart gold preordered but it's more of a "I collect Pokemon games so might as well" thing.

Kind of played soul silver to death that I got bored of it. To be quite honest it's been a while since I played my Japanese soul silver or DPPt.

bobandbill March 16th, 2010 4:24 AM

Australia tends to get it earlier than Europe because Europe has more to do with the game before it's released (i.e. translate it into multiple languages instead of just using the American translation with no changes -_). As for why Australia is behind, it's just the way they do things (that and changing it as it's PAL and all despite the lack of importance, and Nintendo of Australia have to check it, and different rating processes of the game here have to be done, etc, etc). Less of a gap though as the versions are all basically the same as each other this time around.

Anyways, I got myself a rom until it gets released over here, to try monotype teams and get pics/videos myself. =) Definitely buying anyways.

empty streets March 16th, 2010 4:26 AM

I have to wait too. And I don't like waiting >_> I'll probably try playing the rom..

I do believe that (alongside all of the PAL issues) it's because of all of the other European versions that they have to ship (GER, ITA, FR, etc), and they think that it makes more sense to just ship them all at once.

BTW, do they (in the UK version) change "color" to "colour", and all the rest?
I've always wondered... :P

Akeraz March 16th, 2010 5:15 AM

I gave up six months ago when I imported Japanese Soulsilver.

Nope. The most prominent ones are mom and defense.

Panique March 16th, 2010 5:27 AM

I'm waiting until I get my copy of the game.

I'm annoyed at the wait, but I don't want to spoil the game for myself by playing on a rom. I'd rather play the way it's supposed to be played.

Ryck March 16th, 2010 5:40 AM

Waiting for official release - haven't seen any Pokewalker ROMs yet. :)

Historically Europe has always been keep waiting for new releases - lot of translation work to do for all the countries, legal constraints and different ratings systems. I believe French and German law has banned slot machines in Games Arcade this time round.

Ralfisme March 16th, 2010 7:26 AM

wel im gonnne wait til the release i don't want to spoil the game i thougt about buying the us version but then i saw our release was just 2 weeks later so i thougt what the hel might as wel wait :p im stil not sure what version to buy or what pokemon to choose so.

It was the European Parliament as a whole, not just France and Germany :C I actually prefer the Voltorb flip but that's another topic

And I have been saving €40 to buy the game for four months or so, so I guess I'll pay a visit to the old videogame shop near my house in exactly 7 days :D

Umm, yeah, YOUR English isn't actually English. In fact, from experience, the English spoken in Canada is closer to UK English than US English is. If I said rubbish, that would be trash. There are many more words and idioms that are not the same between colloquialisations of English, which means this will all have to be 'translated' in order to get the same points across.

That, and if you look on the carts, USA and EUR define, showing there is a difference.

Uecil March 19th, 2010 9:10 AM

Well.... i'm still waiting for my copy ;_; I am impatient just a little bit but not to much :D I can wait

CoffeeWolf March 19th, 2010 11:30 AM

Does anyone import it from the US?

Bejesus March 19th, 2010 11:52 AM

I have imported Heart Gold and will pre-order soul Silver.

Heart Gold:

Evolved cyndaquil already

The Goods that came today

I never ever had the desire to get both games in a series like pokemon, but for some reason am going crazy and getting both, US and UK. Enjoying the revamped UI so far, took its time but it got there!
