Lord Varion September 25th, 2011 3:30 AM

I used a Great Ball for Ho-Oh and a Dive Ball for Lugia.

Brendino September 25th, 2011 1:40 PM

I caught Ho-oh using an Ultra Ball, but I haven't caught Lugia yet. I plan on using either a Heavy Ball or a Dusk Ball to try and catch it.

MichaelXD September 25th, 2011 2:02 PM

I snagged Lugia quickly from Master Greevil on Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. It's a 3rd gen game for the Gamecube with already 4th gen Pokemon introduced to it so I guess that counts. I was using only Poke Balls up until the Cipher Key Lair when I caught Arbok in an Ultra Ball. I caught Lugia in a Master Ball and trained him to level 100 although I regret myself because I could've at least trained him better so he could have 415 HP and survive better at Wobbuffet's Counter which is at level 63 on the 81st challenge of Mt. Battle.

Squirrel September 25th, 2011 2:10 PM

Used heavy balls and dusk balls (on various play thrus)

I coudn't be bothered and never will be to soft reset, but I caight my Ho-oh in a Ultra Ball, I wasn't patient at the time to use a Pokeball, you were lucky though lol.

Ho-Oh with an Ultra Ball
Lugia with a Repeat Ball as I traded 2 Lugia's to my game. Took 7 of my Repeat Ball's to work too

Ephemeral Euphoria December 6th, 2011 10:54 PM

I believe I caught both with an Ultra Ball in Heart Gold and caught Lugia with a Dusk Ball in Soul Silver if I remember correctly.

Zapperz December 7th, 2011 2:25 AM

i didnt. i killed them both off cause im so lazy! i just get them off gts. i killed them for the data

V. Squirtle December 7th, 2011 4:17 AM

I catch all my legendaries with regular pokeballs, like a boss. It took me only 3 to catch lugia, and 6 to catch ho-oh, also like a boss.

Halcyon December 7th, 2011 5:49 AM

I caught Lugia with a Master Ball just to proceed on with the game (I didn't know that I could defeat it first so it would re-spawn at somewhere else and the Kimono Girls would have no choice but to let me go). I immediately regretted the decision. :(

For Ho-oh, however, since I had more time to spam it with Pokéballs, I caught it with a Dusk Ball.

bobandbill December 7th, 2011 6:14 PM

It got a mini-revival so I'll leave this thread open (as with the red gyarados thread), but please don't bump threads over a month old since the last post.

Ciax December 7th, 2011 9:19 PM

I used Ultra Balls on both of them. To me it just seems that Ultra Balls are the only thing worhty of holding a legendary. That or Master Balls.

sonia789 December 19th, 2011 12:25 AM

I saved in front of Lugia, and tried to get its health to red. If I made it faint, I restarted the game. I caught it in a Ultra ball. I soft reset for a shiny Ho-oh and caught it in a Master ball.

Spades Slick December 24th, 2011 7:49 AM

I didn't, I simply knocked it out, I'm not very fond of catching, or using for that matter, legendaries, they just don't appeal to me (most of the time)

Melinda December 30th, 2011 2:41 AM

I used my master ball on my Ho-oh. I hate master balls now, though so I might use a nicer ball this time. X]

miltankRancher December 30th, 2011 4:15 AM

I have only did one run on HGSS, and it is a bug monotype run, so I just caught them with the master ball.

Kroso December 30th, 2011 4:18 AM

Ultra balls defiantly, master balls are so lowered class and aren't useful as they used to be,the only time to use it if you're running a nuzelock run or something and you picked a bad nuzelock to go with it like above author post.

Palamon December 30th, 2011 8:44 AM

I used a Master Ball on both of them (Since I own both HG and SS). They kept popping out of my other balls, so I just threw a Master ball at them to get it over with.

Nick January 21st, 2012 12:56 PM

I catch all of my legendaries in Ultra Balls. If I'm feeling adventurous, I'll use a PokéBall (which is what I use for regular Pokémon, regardless of how high they are when I catch them). The only time you really need a Master Ball is when you're put in a situation where you're facing a shiny Misdreavus and it uses Perish Song.

Starforce23 January 22nd, 2012 5:14 AM

My Lugia i caught it with my dusk ball, and I buy 49 ultra balls for nothing and then i used a poke ball to catch Ho-oh it worked...then I was like ''49 ultra balls for nothing?''.

Seki January 22nd, 2012 5:35 AM

Pokeball, simply for bragging rights.

Noah927 January 23rd, 2012 5:53 PM

I used a Heavy Ball for my Lugia. I'm looking at the summary now, I don't get why he has 5 stars for his jumping ability.

Iceshadow3317 January 23rd, 2012 8:02 PM

I have Heartgold. For my Lugia I used a Dusk Ball and for Ho-oh I use an Ultra.

Mentalii January 28th, 2012 3:21 AM

I used Ultra Ball for both of them... I always use Ultra Balls on Legendaries, sometimes I tried with simple Pokéball but actually I'm not really lucky so that never worked. So now, Ultra Balls all the way !

vizarod February 5th, 2012 5:19 PM

Umm.... I... cheated and got 900x masterballs... >o> *cough*
