Mirror Coat and Counter

Maybe its a stupid question but can Mirror Coat and Counter hit Ghost type pokemon like Gengar and Dusclops?

They are treated as psychic/fighting attacks, meaning counter will fail on Ghost types, and mirror coat will fail on dark types. This is why Gengar is one of the best Blissey counters, because counter fails against Gengar. Houndoom is also quite fun to play with against Wobbuffet, because it's just asking to be pursuited (Wobbuffet can't hit you at all, so it must switch, right...? XD)

yeah i thought that because of counter not being able to hit gengar mirror coat also wasn't able to hit gengar. I was wrong :(

But if you are using a mirror coater/counterer against something and you don't know what the opponent's gonna do to you, add in protect somewhere too. that way you get to know what attacks they have waiting in the wings. It's always a smart move if you do have a Mirror Coater/Counterer to have at least one attacking move too, just for the sake of it. Like my Blastoise. Mirror Coat + Protect helped me destroy both a Kyogre and a Zapdos. It's a near foolproof strategy.

I have a question to add, so I don't have to make a new thread. If a primeape used seismic toss (lv.100) on my blastoise and I used counter would it do 200 points of damage? Dumb question, but necessary.

Yes, Counter would do 200 damage here to the attacker.

But really, when you're competitive battling, you should know at least 2 stapled move on the opponent's Pokemon by just looking at it, and should have a rough idea of what the last 2 moves are. Say If you see a Marowak, you know that rock slide and bonemerang are stapled, along with a possibly of double edge, HP Bug, swords dance or brick break for the last 2 slots. Knowing all common movepools help with using counter/mirror coat. Hardly does anyone uses protect with counter/mirror coat really...

another question say

[email protected] Bell (100/100 HP) vs [email protected] (100/100 HP)

Gengar -> Psychic -> 90 HP Damage
Swampert -> Mirror Coat -> 180 HP Damage -> Gengar Faints

Now the question. Does Shell Bell heal 100*(1/16) HP or 180*(1/16) HP?
