Go in that site, under HeartGold/SoulSilver, go to the "PokeGear Phonebook" I think. It's in that section of the site, so it won't take you long.

The Team Rocket guy should have mentioned that he hid the Machine Part in one of the rubber rings in Misty's Gym. If you go and find it (it's in the rings at the top left of the gym) take it back to the Powerplant and they'll fix the generator.

Geo_mani April 17th, 2010 6:25 AM

Bill's Grandpa?

So,bill's grandpa in route 25 is asking about a fire pokemon that knows how to roar well!Who is that pokemon?

BHwolfgang April 17th, 2010 6:34 AM

In SoulSilver, you can capture a Vulpix and present it to Bill's grandfather. If your game is HeartGold, then a Growlithe would do. :)

GeoBro April 17th, 2010 6:34 AM

Growlithe probably. Either that or Entie

Gooner_Tyzack April 17th, 2010 6:42 AM

what happens when you showed him everything he wants?

heartgold help! April 17th, 2010 6:54 AM

No, i think you should evolve your Graveller and Polowhirl to Golem and Poliwrath/Politoed, Clair is seriously hard so you should level, level, level.

Can i just ask? How the hell do you have 7 KANTO Badges and 0 Johto Badges?

alisaie April 17th, 2010 8:44 AM

I think the person may have accidentally switched the order around.

I think your team could be ready. Especially if your Poliwhirl has an Ice Move, such a Blizzard, or Ice Beam. Kingdra only has a weakness of Dragon, so Ampharos is probably going to be your best friend there. But from what I've seen, you're definitely higher than the other people who have faced Claire and won in the past (like moi).

I'd go to Lv. 40 at least, just to make it easier on yourself. Ice Path is a good grinding spot if you can be bothered. Otherwise, just take plenty of Super Potions, MooMooMilks and Revives with you.

i used my electrode on gyrados, and im going to use my raikou on the seadra, but, whenever i use an electric attack o seadra, it doesnt do as much damage as electric type moves should on it.

Seadra is actually pure Water type. Check Bulbapedia.

It's just got quite high defence.

Tyranitar07 April 17th, 2010 7:07 PM

this has probably already been answered in this thread, but how do you get rid of the Snorlax blocking Diglett's Cave?

FireApe2135 April 17th, 2010 7:42 PM

Alright, after you do the power plant side quest, you go to the Radio tower in... Fuschia, then he will give you a card that has the pokemon flute channel, I think, someone correct me if I am wrong.

Oddish is found on Route 5, Route 6, Route 25, Route 26, Ilex Forest, and the Safari Zone. They're common, so they're easy to find.

A list of Pokemon for Bill's grampa is found here: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Bill%27s_grandfather

All I know about Suicune is that Misty has to be in her Gym. Bill's grandpa has nothing to do with Suicune, afaik. Someone else may give you more information, since I haven't reached that part of the game yet. But from what I read, all it says is that for Suicune to appear on Route 25 is for Misty to return to her gym.

Kai Yamato April 17th, 2010 8:18 PM

Okay, how do I access the blocks in the Safari Zone? I'm like clueless, they told me how we use them but what? Do you take 'em out of an item bag or something?

jigglyppuff8 April 17th, 2010 8:20 PM

Just press A on the ground in front of you. It should bring up a menu screen where you can then put blocks down.

MudkipManiac April 17th, 2010 8:30 PM

ok i beat all gyms except brock and last 2. i got sucuine. i cant go 2 seafom islands becuz of construction. wat now?

jigglyppuff8 April 17th, 2010 8:32 PM

Go to Cinnabar/Seafoam Islands by Surfing south of Pallet Town.

ThatsTakao April 17th, 2010 8:53 PM

So for the past two weeks, I've been trying to re-match Bugsy, but he's being a jerk and won't re-match me. :C I call him on Thursdays at around 3 pm. WHY IS HE BEING SO MEAN?
I've re-matched him before plently of times, but now, he's like, "NO, I DON'T WANNA GET BEAT BY YOU ANYMORE." >:c

Where about on route 47 can I catch a ditto?

Thanks

Fire Wolf April 18th, 2010 1:50 AM

You should find Ditto in the grass patches on Route 47, it has an appearance rate of 41% (the highest on Route 47). You can find it on Route 34/35 as well, it's uncommon there though, having an appearance rate of 5% on route 34 and 4% on Route 35.

GO down the first ladder..surf north and scale the waterfall..there is a small patch of grass there...that's where u find ditto.

FireApe2135 April 18th, 2010 6:20 AM

I'm not sure if this is where I should actually put this, but, what starter should I pick, I am restarting my Soul Silver, and I want a challenge, I know in every game, the hardest pokemon to start out with is the grass type, does that stay true for this one?

MudkipManiac April 18th, 2010 6:50 AM

yes it does. oh n chikorita has a weird walking sprite XD

ta but the guy at the victory road entrance wont let me go to Kanto/Pallet Town that way and wen i try to go there out of cerulean, it can tgo because of the jumping cliffs :cer_frown:

FireApe2135 April 18th, 2010 7:24 AM

Did you already take the SS Anne to Vermillion? If so, you can go to the town where the safari zone used to be, then you can surf from there.

Mirokarosu April 18th, 2010 7:44 AM

^ You'll see Strength if you go that way, because of the Seaform islands.

OR, you can do the following, so you can go the way jiggly said.
-> Go to the Power Plant (Route 10 next to Cerulean City; surf downward) and talk to the Manager about a stolen Power Plant Part.
-> Go Back to Cerulean City, and find the thief in the Gym. He'll escape to the Nugget Bridge, where you go and defeat him.
-> Go back to the gym and find the part near the top left corner of it, under the umbrella and tubes.
-> Give the piece back to the Power Plant, then go to Lavender Town
-> Once you're there, get the Expn. Card for your Pokegear.can
-> Go to Vermillion City and go to the Diglett's Cave where you then wake up snorlax and defeat him like in the past (or catch him).
-> Go through the Diglett's cave (make sure you have cut), and you'll find you're self near Pewter City where you can then go down to Pallet Town, and then Cinnabar Island.

=3=;;;

Is it harmful to your save file if you restart during a Battle Frontier battle?

Mujahid April 18th, 2010 8:33 AM

FireApe2135 April 18th, 2010 11:23 AM

and where do you get the train ticket?

You need to complete the Magnet Train sidequest for both.

First you need to fix the Power Plant. Do this by going to the Power Plant, and then going back to Cerulean. Talk to the Rocket Guy in the gym. When he runs away, follow him. He'll tell you where the machine part is hidden in the gym. Go and find it and take it back to the Power Plant. Now the generator works and you can go to the radio tower in Lavender where you get your radio upgraded. The Pokeflute is a manual channel so you have to move the dot somewhere near the top.

Back in Saffron, someone'll mention that the Copycat lost her doll. Go to Vermillion and talk to the Sailor in the Pokemon Fan Club. He'll give you the doll. Give it back to Copycat in Saffron and she'll give you a Magnet Pass.

Sidequest: Done! ~♪

No, it's saved to your game card. If and when you start a new game file on the same physical, carbon game, it will still work.

In other words, you have no worries. ~♪

Actually, I started over a new save file once. I had to reset my Pokewalker to get it to work again by pressing Down+X+L on the Pokewalker screen.

Good rod is found in Olivine City. Super is found on route 12. Only HM you need in HGSS Victory Road is Strength. Rock Smash for bonus items.

It will work, but if you reset the game it won't let you use the Pokewalker with your new/current game. Basically, if you reset the game, you are going to need to reset the Pokewalker too.

How do you get the shiny Kanto starters?

I was wondering if you can just look at the picture and see if they're shiny, like the Johto starters?

OR if you actually have to add them to your team by picking them up and looking at them.

If someone could post an actual fact, and not some guess because I have been just looking at the picture for the past 4 hours.

Thanks.

Berry pot mechanics

heya hows it goin peoples...

ok i searched the forums and found no discussions on this subject.
how does the berry pot actually work?
now i tried planting berrys and adjusting the DS callendar... no beans (i mean berries)... next i tried adjusting just the clock... nothing.

so what clock is it running off of?
i just want a heap of stirus and leppa berries :P it would be nice to heal my pokebuddies up and keep em running for those long shiny hunts.

so my question is this, how do you manipulate the berry pots?

You see the pokemon's picture before you select it, so you can see if it's shiny before selecting it. Believe me I tried it for a freaking week and gave up. I sometimes still wish I hadn't but I am far now and enjoy my team.

Also I have a question of my own. Any tips to make a pokemon happy besides the soothe bell and haircut brothers, already been there and done that for tonight. I am trying to evolve my eevee from Bill to Umbreon before level 16 when Umbreon learns pursuit.

Blaziken257 April 18th, 2010 8:18 PM

Are there any in-game trainers with Chikorita (or any of its evolutions)? I started with Cyndaquil, so obviously my rival isn't going to have Chikorita... and I'd like to be able to get one off the GTS without having to get someone's friend code (which means I have to see it in my Pokédex). Thanks!

As far as I know, there isn't a way in-game to see the third and final (depending on the starters chosen) in-game. Although in Viridian City's Trainer House, the one Ace Trainer has all the G/S/C starters fully evolved, so you'll see Meganium there.

I have 1000 steps on my pokewalker and I still can't get 3 !!! is it rare to get it, i'm looking for the flying Pikachu

Wings Don't Cry April 19th, 2010 1:37 AM

You need a minimum of 10000 steps for Flying Pikachu, even then it is still very rare.

Well you missed out a zero and that's still 2% chance of finding one.

fishyfins April 19th, 2010 3:08 AM

whats the best way to raise money on heartgold, pre Ho-oh, once all trainers have been defeated?

Fire Wolf April 19th, 2010 3:13 AM

fishyfins, elite 4 would be your best bet, but since it isn't pre-Ho-Oh in HG, and since all trainers have been defeated, I guess having 3-5 pokemon with Pickup in your team would help, as you can sell the items they pick up.

Wings Don't Cry April 19th, 2010 3:16 AM

If you haven't beat the Kimono Sisters(probably have) you should go to them with an Amulet coin since they'll each give like 9000(more or less) a battle and with 5 of them that will be 45k right there.

I recall there may be a guy in the Lighthouse you can rematch (a gentleman Alfred) - those trainers tend to carry some $$$. Checking up, you can call him as often as you want on tuesdays between 10am-8pm.

Merged with the Help thread in case people have other suggestions. Anyways, the things with berries is that you can't change time with them - so much as a small adjustment kills them all and means you can't grow them for a day (or two). They were aware of people trying to speed up the berry growth, I suppose. =P You'll just have to grow them the old-fashioned way without cheating. =P

Make it learn heat wave/flare blitz.....then evolve it ..use the move relearner to teach arcanine ES....hope that helped

Well my thread on it got locked before I could reply to someone elses reply....so i'll ask here.

In the safari zone, where is the meadow? I have looked around for ages and there isn't any area which looks like the meadow pic someone posted, and no matter which section i go in, I cant seem to find jigglypuff.

yeah it helped. I didn't know it could learn those moves through the move relearner. I thought it only learned the starting moves.

When u reach the safari zone for the first time, the game randomly sets up the six areas...i guess u didn't get meadows ...to get that u have to complete boaba's second challenge and then customize the area to get meadows

They're places you should visit. Usually its because a trainer on that route has challenged you to a rematch, but sometimes they just want to give you something. Visit the route, speak to people and find out! ~♪

They also show where swarms are located.

Just got HeartGold yesterday, and there are a lot of questions I could ask, but I will likely figure out most of them on my own. I do want to ask this one though. Is there an easier way to get some of my Pokémon from my Diamond version to HeartGold than just trading using a second DS? For example, I have the Pikachu-Colored Pichu in my Diamond, and eventually I would like to get it to HeartGold to unlock the event.

If you're trusting enough, you could head on over to Trade Corner and ask someone there.

Otherwise (if you don't want to risk your PCP) the best way would be, as you say, with two DSs, or with a reliable friend.

That's what I thought. Thanks. I can probably get another DS to do transfers with. No offense to the community of course, but I won't trust people I haven't met in person to help me transfer lol. Another question, then: if I put my Diamond or HG in a different DS than it's normally played in, that won't mess up the clock or anything like that will it?

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm sure your game could cope, should there be any time changes.

Nope, it wont. The clock is set with your actual DS settings and doesn't have anything to do with the games themselves. So the same time will appear for each game and nothing should affect it - as long as you haven't messed about with the settings.

Hm, does anyone remember which Kimono girl is the one that you meet in the Goldenrod Underground Tunnel? If you guys can remember at least which specific Eeveelution that girl used, it would be great. Sorry if this is a vague question, am sick and not supposed to be at the computer.. :x

Panfisha April 19th, 2010 3:22 PM

Is there any trick to getting the haircut brothers to appearing more than once a day? Like, messing with the DS clock somehow? I want to evolve my eevee fast but with minimal leveling.

I believe the battles go in the order you've met them...since Kimono Girl Miki is third, I think she's the one you meet at the Underground Tunnel? She uses a Flareon.

I've been dual-DSing for a while and I'll echo what the others have said -- it doesn't mess up your game's clock or anything, so you don't have to worry about that. I've been using a DS Lite with an old school brick-DS and so far I haven't had any problems.

I have some trouble. This problem was also the same in platinum. The thing is that there are so many HM's in the game and i really find it hard to teach them onto any of my pokemon because there are many other better skills to use than those of HMS. So i have trouble deciding which HM's will actually be useful in the long run and which will be useless. Also i need to know if there is a pokemon which i can teach many HM's too, a sort of HM mule if you will. So you see my dilema.

Mew in Australia :O

Hi there, this is my first post.

I was just wondering if anyone here has any idea when people living in Australia will be able to get the Wi-Fi Mew Event. Serebii doesn't seem to give any information on this and I was just wondering if anyone here knew.

Also, if anyone knows an alternate way of obtaining a Mew on Heartgold/Soulsilver please reply :P

Thanks alot.

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could explain this to me.

I am EV training my blissey. She has Pokerus. I fainted 100 hoothoot which equals 200 EV points gained in HP. When she leveled up she gained 16 points in the stat. Shouldn't this number be much higher? Like closer to 50?

Bibarel is the best and easiest HM slave to use/get, imho. I have one on my Platinum and my SS with Cut, Rock Climb, Strength and Rock Smash. From my personal experience, there hasn't been a single HM that I haven't found myself needing in any situation. Defog/Whirlpool and Waterfall are kind of tied at the bottom of the list, but they're really all pretty important.

At level 100, 4 EVs = +1 to the stat. Until then, the ratio will be a little different. Don't quote me on that though.

My friend is Polish. What I want to know is, "Is there a Polish version of Pokemon SoulSilver?" He's going to Poland next month, and he wants to know. Please VM me if you know. Thanks!

There isn't a Polish version, only Japanese,French,German,Italian,Korean,Spanish and English.

The HMs you will need all depend on the situation. I mean, if you're going into a cave, you're going to want Rock Climb, Strength, Rock Smash, Surf and Waterfall. If you're out in a forest, you're going to want Cut and maybe Surf. It really all depends on what situation you're going to be in. For HM slaves, I can personally recommend Tauros. It can learn 5 of the 8 HMs, and they're usually the most needed (Rock Smash, Strength, Rock Climb, Surf, and Whirlpool, which isn't needed as much). Like the person above says, Bibarel is an excellent option as well, but for use before the E4, I like Tauros. I also use Farfetch'd for Fly and Cut.

... The Mew event hasn't been announced yet. The only place it has happened is in Japan, so I wouldn't expect it to come out for a while. You'll hear about the event when it's announced. I'm sure the Gen IV forums will be abuzz.

To give a little clarity to the above poster: 4 EVs do equal 1 stat point at level 100, and only level 100, so you will not receive the full effect of EV training until level 100. The EVs are gained gradually, so don't expect the gains in the EVed stat to be much bigger than the other stats after the first few levels after EV training it. You'll get 4s and 5s, but that's about it. Fear not though, I promise that at level 100 your Blissey will have 50 hp more than if you hadn't EV trained her. Let me just ask you a question though: why 200 EVs? Why not max out at 252 EVs? There isn't any competitive set with a spread like that. In fact, there isn't any competitive set with more than 152 HP EVs.

Sorry if I was a bit circular in my way of talking in this post, but I'm a bit tired, and I'm not quite sure how to explain it another way.

New Rule

Alright, so it seems not all have seen it yet, but the first post of the HG/SS Help Thread has been updated with a new rule. We've realized a lot of you like to leave thank you posts after your question has been answered, which really isn't necessary. Hence the new rule:

[jq]→ This thread is for questions & answers only. Having a thank you post is not necessary and will probably end up being deleted. It basically clutters the thread, and isn't needed. If you do wish to say thank you, then do it in the same post as your question[/jq]Please, we do wish you follow it. Thank you.

When there are places like the Seafoam Islands, Mt. Silver, and Cerulean Cave, not really.
