where can i SEE heracross in ss? or i'll just trade for it

Pokegear.net July 7th, 2010 5:02 PM

Heracross is in headbutt trees across most of Johto and Kanto, try Route 44 in Johto.

jigglyppuff8 July 7th, 2010 5:35 PM

Bugsy has a Heracross in his rematch. Other than that, Headbutt trees.

Yes, you can do that. Cripple Pikachu and get a free Light Ball. =)

Astinus July 7th, 2010 7:40 PM

To add on to the "Headbutt trees for Heracross" posts:

Heracross is found in trees on Routes: 7, 11, 16, 28, 33, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47; and in Azalea Town, Vermilion City, Celadon City, and Mt. Silver.

You have to learn Headbutt from a guy in the Ilex Forest just south of GoldenRod City. Then turn a little east and jump off the ledge and turn east and go all the way down. After you taught one of your pokemon Headbutt. Then Heabutt trees in the following locations: Route 7, Route 16, Route 28, Route 33, Route 42, Route 44, Route 45, Route 46, Route 47, Azalea Town, Vermilion City, Celadon City, Mt. Silver

I currently have 6. Getting more since None of them had the Adamant nature. I found 3 in a row pretty quickly, and I found 5 in 10 minutes.

Well, it depends which Pokemon you're looking for.

If a tree doesn't produce a Pokemon the first time you Headbutt it, it never will. Go around Viridian Forest until you find one that does.

thanks...and the reason i said "see" in caps is because i thought it was hg exclusive ha

and would a high defense nature be good for it, since most flying moves are physical i think? or just a coba berry

How can you evolve Feebas?
I mean, how can you max his Beauty in HGSS?
There is no poffin or pokebloc to do that :S

rndm. July 8th, 2010 6:35 AM

^ With Daisy's massages. Every massage raises the Beauty stat by 1/8 of it's maximum, so in 8 days you will get your Milotic.
Daisy gives massages from 3pm to 4pm every day.

You can also use the barber shop in goldenrod. This also increases the beauty, and u can use it at any time of the day.

Locally speaking, 'hint books' are rather trig to find :(

PDF files of the books, mainly. We're not far in mapping technology for DS.

how much do the power items multiply EVs by?

jigglyppuff8 July 8th, 2010 3:05 PM

They don't multiply EVs, they add on 4 EVs of the stat they say they raise.

For example:
Battling a Sentret (1 Atk) while holding the Power Anklet (Speed) will result in 1 Atk EV and 4 Speed EVs.
Battling a Ratatta (1 Spe) while holding the Power Anklet (Speed) will result in 5 Speed EVs (Ratatta's + the 4 from the Power Anklet).

One more thing, I don't think Viridian Forest has any pokemon in its trees at all. But I haven't tested it. Like Astinus said they are found in routes 7, 11, 16, 28, 33, 42, 44, 45, 46, 47; and in Azalea Town, Vermilion City, Celadon City, and Mt. Silver.

the macho brace doubles em right?

Correct, the Macho Brace can be found by trading a drowzee for machop in the Goldenrod Department Store

Pokegear.net July 8th, 2010 11:49 PM

You couldn't really fix it but possibly patch it. You could paint it or use similarly coloured tape or maybe. Try the tape first as it would be harder to get the paint off.

The pokewalker's design shouldn't matter anyway so long as it still functions properly.

amberfunk July 9th, 2010 12:14 AM

Yes, there is pokemon in the trees in viridian forest

pryce10 July 9th, 2010 7:32 AM

How do I get Blue's number quickly without having to wait for a day?

jigglyppuff8 July 9th, 2010 7:43 AM

It's impossible since the game can tell if you're changing the date to try and exploit daily events. You'll have to get his number the way it was intended.

TrainerShane July 10th, 2010 10:23 AM

If Eevee tries to evolve at night into Umbreon, can I stop the evolution and have it evolve into Espeon during the day? I assume so, but I am not sure.

Christopher July 10th, 2010 2:25 PM

ofcourse you can I have i was going for espeon but it turned to night right before it tried to evolve so I had to wait another day but yeah you can stop it

Hatenko July 10th, 2010 8:15 PM

Does the ability Synchronize carry over to the Pokewalker, or is it too primitive?

jigglyppuff8 July 10th, 2010 8:31 PM

Synchronize is ignored in the Pokewalker.

§1 July 10th, 2010 9:02 PM

how exactly does breeding with power items work?

are the odds of transferring stats from both parents 100% or not?

cuz the lucario i bred had 31 speed ivs, but it didn't get the 31 Satk ivs from the ditto that was holding power lens

Penutz July 11th, 2010 1:04 AM

Masuda Method Question.

Im planning on breading a shiny. But im just wondering, will these work out?

1.Male ENG Lucario + Jap/Ger/Etc Ditto = Masuda? (I know it makes it faster not instant)

2.French Tyrouge + Eng ditto = Masuda?

3. Any ENG Pokemon + Jap/Ger/Etc Ditto = Masuda.

If you could explain in the same format as the question thanks with breif details.

or do i have to breed with beedril to get it?

Ok. I haven't found a single pokemon fossil since I finished the game in 100 something hours. Does anyone know where to look? I want to start looking for some. After you find the fossil who do you take the fossil too? I know in gold and silver version you take it to some pokemon mansion.

If this is in the wrong thread, please move it, but I have a team nearly built for my SS (a just for fun run) I have four of them and a planned fifth, but need help deciding on the final member of my team. My current finalized team would be:
Ampharos
Espeon
Togekiss
Crobat
Gengar.
Any suggestions would be helpful, thanks.

lapras has always been one of my favorites. if you like your starter you could add them, but are you building it for competitive or no? im not a competitive type at all so i couldn't help you there, but for the main game i'd add a water in there.

Ok thanks, one more quick question: Should I give Psychic to Lapras, Togekiss, or Espeon (not sure if he learns it via level up)

Macy123 July 12th, 2010 11:54 AM

EV training question.

Do wild (that are above level 1) Pokemon have some EV points or are they zero?

jigglyppuff8 July 12th, 2010 11:59 AM

Just like eggs, wild Pokemon have 0 EVs.

Weavile05 July 12th, 2010 12:06 PM

I'm going through a tough decision. I am thinking about deleting my SS save file. I struggled through the whole game, and ended up having to trade pokemon from platinum to beat the E4 and Red. I've only beaten the E4 twice, and only beaten Red once. I can trade my Night Sky Jirachi to platinum, and can mystery gift my winners path to a friend and then mystery gift it back. Anyone objecting this?

the other person who told you the museum part was right but its not just rock smashing outside of battle i read on yahoo answers (used this to get through my SS in 6 days) you have to rock smash outside the ruins of alph where you can catch the unowns then take them to that museum go right when you enter and talk to the guy there

_Kyle July 12th, 2010 1:28 PM

Just got here today, can anyone point me the way to EV training? I wanna learn how. Even a link or anything would help me, you don't have to explain it.

Weavile05 July 12th, 2010 1:37 PM

EV training is when you battle a pokemon, you Effort Values based on the dominant stat of the pokemon you are battling. Three or four Effort Values = 1 point in stat gain per level up.
ie: zubat's dominant stat is speed, so if you want your pokemon to have high speed, battle tons of zubats. Or almost any other flying type plus probably buizel/floatzel among others.
There are several pokemon for each stat.
Some pokemon give EVs in more than one stat (mew gives 1 to all) and some give more than one EV for one stat.
ie: Say geodude gives on def EV. Graveler will give 2 and Golem will give 3.

also I ask the same question as above, is it ok to delete my save file for SS?

Thank you! greatly appreciated! And for your post, I would say that making a new file and starting fresh would sound tempting. But if you have any chances of bettering the situation then you should.

Also one more question from you haha. Where you do you get the trainer cards?

Weavile05 July 12th, 2010 2:38 PM

I'm not sure about all of them, but I know beating the Elite 4 once gets you the Blue card. and Beating it 10 times (I think) gets you some other one, and I'm pretty sure Completing the national dex gets you the Black Card (after you get all the other cards, which will more than likey happen first). For all the others though, you can probably find out at www.gamefaqs.com

http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-rs/ev.shtml

every 4 ev's is 1 IV i believe something like that the link explains it and gives you different pokemon that give different EV points

the black trainer card if im not mistaken is from getting all 5 gold stars

Getting EVs does not equate to IVs. 4 EVs = 1 more point in that stat at level 100.

It has to be from a Wonder Card that allows sharing such as the first JPN Secret Key in Platinum. The Wonder Card should have an option that says "Send". Then, the other person would have to "Get from a friend". Not many of the Wonder Cards that are have been released allow sharing though.

Weavile05 July 12th, 2010 3:43 PM

yeah, that sucks that I apparently can't transfer my Winners Path Pokewalker Route, or the Jirachi (But the event is still on so it will be easy enough to get back.) But the winners path pokes I can easily get from platinum (except for munchlax with self destruct, but I never use that one anyway.)

If I do start a new game, will mystery gift be available ainstantly?

You can trade the Jirachi to your friend and trade back to receive the Night Sky's Edge course. However you will lose the Winner's Path and any Wonder Card only course. I would recommend you use an Action Replay to extract the Wonder Cards and then send them back after you start a new game.

go to the top of Mt. Silver Red will be waiting there for you his strongest pokemon is a level 88 pikachu i do believe he is quite difficult i dont reccomend doing it without your pokemon being level 65-80 or have a level 100 and a couple 60s that will easily ko his pokemon go to google and type in "What pokemon does Red have in [your version]?" and you should get a yahoo answers telling you what pokemon he has and usually what pokemon are recommended. hope this helps
bring about 10-20 hyper potions 6 revives and a few full restores <--- common sense really
the weather is hail when you start the battle so be prepared to take minor damage every turn

edit: just wikianswers'd reds team he has pikachu charizard blastoise venasaur snorlax and lapras
i recomend golem(earthquake for his pikachu and stone edge for his charizard) really any pokemon with flamethrower for his venasaur (check GTS they always have strong pokemon lvl 100 for pretty much anything) and i got lucky with his snorlax and lapras blastoise i used my elctabuzz (level 58 at the time)

edit: you need rock climb to get to the top and if you dont want to weaken your pokemon before the battle i suggest repels for best results(i always keep roughly 50 in my inventory) or a cleanse tag to lower the ammount of pokemon you run into (or an item of the like)

You washed it?

It's gone.

The only reason I could see you getting a replacement is if the warranty hasn't expired and you manage to get another via that. Otherwise, the routes, stored Pokemon, and everything in the PokeWalker is gone. (Unless it works like an iPod and it's down for a few weeks 'till it dries out and it's good as new -.-)

That's why I paid for year warranty. You can buy an extra one from Nintendo's store.

The chinchou that I was EV training had it's pokerus cured before I could finish the training. I heard that even after pokerus is cured, the pokemon still gains double EV's. Is this true?

Christopher July 15th, 2010 1:05 PM

yes if it has the smiley cured face it will still receive double Evs

@returninGOD try going out of Violet to the south to where the guy stops you or talking to the guy inside the gym if those do not work try retracing your steps or looking at a walkthrough

i just grab a piece of paper and make tally marks after each battle until it reaches the number of EVs i need

when breeding with power items, are the odds of transferring the IVs from both parents 100%?

rndm. July 16th, 2010 3:32 AM

^ Yes. So two IVs can be passed for sure, one from each parent.

countryemo July 16th, 2010 6:45 AM

If Clefable is male, you need a Ditto.

If the Ditto is Calm, an everstone. (Give it to the Ditto and Breed. When the mom is holding an everstone, it is more likely to pass down it's nature). If it's not Calm, just breed several eggs until you get a Calm one.

To get a Lileep with Recover, you need a male Corsola with Recover and a female Lileep or Cradily. So if you have a male Cradily, breed a female one from it and a Ditto.

Breed the two. If the female Lileep or Cradily is also Careful, give it the Everstone. Again, if not, just keep breeding until you happen to get one.

Winning the lottery in Goldenrod Radio Tower will get you another Masterball.

Marill is in Mt. Mortar, but I can't find one. Do you have to Surf for it, or is it just rare? Thanks in advance!

Resultz July 16th, 2010 1:37 PM

im sure ive seen a marill just by running around o.O you must be unlucky...
so i need to get dittos with both natures, and get recover onto cradily
before i breed with ditto?

It's a 1% chance of finding one on the first floor. If it's the Swarm Pokemon of the day, then the chances increase to 40%.

Depends on your Pokemon.

But yes. It'll be easier to get Ditto with those natures because it'll lessen the amount of eggs you'll have to hatch to get those natures on Cleffa and Lileep. As for Recover, you'll need to have a male Corsola with Recover and breed it to a female Cradily/Lileep in order to pass on the egg move.

§1 July 16th, 2010 2:16 PM

when i'm near mt. mortar my pokes say "huh? your pokemon found something on top of the mountain?"

what exactly does it mean by that?

so i need to carry over the egg move first?
Male corsola -__- = ugh, any corsola is a pain to find and catch..

Ehh, I've read up on lots of walkthroughs but nothing is helping me...
What are the best elements to defeat normal elements?
I know normal is good against none/bad against none.
I don't have a fighting type.

Help me? :L

You have to run around on 1F during a swarm day (when chances are 40%) or attempt for one in the Safari Zone.

Unless you have a fighting move, Rock and steel types are best.. as they resist normal.

are you trying to beat whitney or something?
if thats the case just look up the stats of those types of pokes...like for instance miltank's sp.def is lower than it's def
http://www.smogon.com/dp/pokemon/miltank

and because of that, special attacks are more effective than physical

rocky505 July 16th, 2010 3:00 PM

Whitney is walled by the female Machop you get from a guy for a drowzee. The machop is female so attract won't do anything.

voltorb flip help

1st look at all the rows that have a zero by the voltorb and u no that that row is safe to flip all the cards over

2nd look at all the edges that have the #'s and if the 2 #'s equall 5 u dont flip any of those cards over becaus none of them are 2s or 3s (usually i mark those with the voltorb memo so i dont forget and flip a possible voltorb over)

3rd u should be low on remaining cards that are possible 2s or 3s so it takes a little pressure off and it just got put right back on because the fewer cards the harder the guesses now u have to be mathematical i will give u a few ex. one row has 6 pionts with 2 voltorbs this means that there is a few possible 2's and 3's involved 2 of the cards are voltorbs meaning 3 are not the 3 cards can vary in possition and number this is where luck comes in the cards remaining could be 1,2,3 or 2,2,2 in any order so in the end the row could look like this:

1 3 V 2 V or 2 V 2 V 2 or anr variation in between

hope i helped get back at me if u have any more Q's

why does my meoth get more exp than my other pokes?

i've noticed this several times, and i can't figure out how this happens...

for example: i was ev training my munchlax by making it hold an EXP share; and my meoth beat a slowpoke with payday, and the exp gets divided up, but the meoth gets 142 exp, whereas the munchlax gets 126 exp

both pokes are from trades, and the meoth is not holding any items...so, why does this happen?

Hey, well i don't know if it's a problem, but I want to know if it's just me or it's happening to everyone, what's happening to me:

When i turn on my game and go to the Mystery Gift section, it used to say "Make a Wish with Jirachi" event, now it says "There were no gifts found"
for the past few days. Is it me or is it that they cut the Jirachi event and are they putting a new event?

The Jirachi event ended Friday, it was available from: June 26th to July 16th.

Are there any good EV-training places in HGSS?

Places with only those pokemon that give EVs in Attack, Speed, Sp.Attack and etc. I mostly need only these.

Usually I do my EV training in Diamond, but I got tired of always transferring my pokemon from one game to another.

nope thats not it...exp share is supposed to split it 50/50
and the exp share splits it 50/50 if i use another poke instead of my moewth (as long as that poke is also from a trade anyway)

here let me give you another example that i just now did:
my meowth beat a lv2 pidgey and a lv3 pidgey, and then i had my munchlax & pachirisu (which are also from trades) do the exact same thing; and then i had a poke that is not from a trade do it

meowth
lv2 - 25xp
lv3 - 39xp

pachirisu
lv2 - 22xp
lv3 - 34xp

munchlax
lv2 - 22xp
lv3 - 34xp

lucario (not from a trade)
lv2 - 15xp
lv3 - 23xp

it's from Italy (apparently pokes from another language get a lil more exp)
googled the OT = MATTEO and ID number = 30045

i got it from light_mew here on pokecommunity in april
and i found a trade thread from it's orginal owner =)

One hot spot is route 43. You can encounter masses of girafarig, mareep, flaaffy(all of them give sp.atk EV's), and pidgeotto(speed EV's.) And at night, noctowl come out(2 hp EV's.)
Or for HP, national park at night has ONLY hoothoot, which give 1 Hp EV.
