Apricorns can be taken to Kurt in Azalea Town and he'll make custom Poké Balls for you (in other words, types of Poké Balls that cannot be bought in shops). Different coloured apricorns get you different types of Poké Balls.

They can also be used at the Pokéathlon Dome to make Aprijuice, a drink that will make your Pokémon better at certain aspects of Pokéathlon events.

Hope this helped :)

warakawa January 8th, 2011 3:35 AM

thanks, are these custom balls better than the ones sold in market?

Where can buy elixir/ether?

bobandbill January 8th, 2011 4:13 AM

Some custom balls are better in situations - for instance the heavy ball is terrible for light Pokemon but is great for trying to catch heavy Pokemon. Certainly worth getting as you encounter Apricorns all over the place and grow back daily.

You cannot buy Ether/Elixer in stores, unfortunately, but you can grow certain berries that restore PP via the berry grower if you happen to get them (maybe by say trading shards with people such as the guy in Violet City?)

You should be at least lvl. 60+ but yesterday I beat the 2nd Elite Four with very underleveled pokemon.

Here's what I beat it with:
Lvl. 55 Starmie
Lvl. 54 Scizor
Lvl. 52 Ampharos
Lvl. 52 Typhlosion
Lvl. 56 Absol
Lvl. 49 Crobat

It depends on what pokemon you choose and what kind of moves do you have that are useful in the Elite Four. 2 moves that helped me A LOT were Haze for Karen's pokemon and Will-o-Wisp for Lance's pokemon.

Arios January 8th, 2011 8:29 PM

Still leveling them up =[

quick question! can a friend and I wifi double battle team against random people?

If you're referring to a WiFi four way tag-team battle, then unfortunately you can't. Which kinda sucks :\ You can only do that locally (DS Communications).

You can however battle tag-team in the Battle Tower over WiFi, if that's any consolation.

Hey guys i'm having a bit of trouble and wanted to get your views. On my Pokewalker, I have a Bronzor. Which is fine but ive never put a Bronzor and when I went to the Pokewalker screen it says that I dont have a Bronzor on there. Can anyone help?

Bronzor probably joined you when you were walking. It happens all the time to me, so it's just natural. No worries, and you should be happy that now you have a Bronzor! :D

does anyone have a bagon they're willing to trade? or does anyone know a trainer in-game with a bagon or shellgon? thank you.

This isn't really the right place to ask for trades. Trying asking in the trading forum; you'll probably find someone willing to trade there. ^^;;

Also, I'm pretty sure Bagon or Shellgon don't appear anywhere in-game in HGSS aside from the Safari Zone.

Amore January 9th, 2011 4:14 PM

I think he meant an in-game trainer so he could view it and ask over GTS...

Sadly, all I know is that Lance has a Salamence.

Try the routes from Cinnabar Island to Fuchsia City, then up to Lavender Town...they seem to have good pokémon diversity among trainers.

Alternative January 10th, 2011 6:54 AM

This may be a right-off-the-bat question, but it sparked my interest a little. :P
If you were to encounter a standing legendary Pokemon, which just happens to be shiny, does the overworld sprite appear shiny?

Nope, it doesn't. D:
I tried RNG'ing for a Shiny Rayquaza, but it's just green. >_>
HOWEVER, you can walk with it and still is Shiny overworld-ly~~ <3 <3

Meduza January 10th, 2011 11:08 AM

A few months ago, while using my PokeWalker, I lost it an dit's nowhere to be found.

If I buy SoulSilver, can I link up the PokeWalker in it with my HeartGold (The One With The Lost PokeWalker) or will it only work for the game I bought it with?

chaos11011 January 10th, 2011 11:11 AM

It can link to your Heart Gold, don't worry. But once it's linked and you try to link it to your Soul Silver it will delete the PokeWalker Data.

Neiko Star January 10th, 2011 4:38 PM

I was wondering, where can I get the TM Sludge Bomb?

JakeyBoy January 10th, 2011 4:40 PM

I think the warden in the building north of Mahogany Town gives it to you.

After defeating Team Rocket in the Mahogany Town "base," the guard in the gatehouse in Route 43 will give you the TM.

In order to get the Bronzor to your game you need to select the receive gift option.

Bluerang1 January 11th, 2011 12:04 PM

Can I Mystery Gift a Pokemon? Like send via Mystery Gift? There's a "Receive from friend" option. Or is that just for items?

I don't think you can do that with Pokemon :( Only Pokemon I'm afraid.

Hey, I'm playing HeartGold version and I'm trying to get a Cyndaquil. I need to know how I can set up my wireless/wi-fi connection on my DS so I can trade with someone first though. Could someone please reply to this with a simple, but helpful guide on how to?

And after I'm done with that, is there anyone here who has a spare Cyndaquil I could have? I realize I'm being a little greedy and I hate that, but I'm pretty early in the game, and I don't really have a strong Pokemon to trade. But I guess I can catch a Pokemon and train it a little...

Also, I'd kind of like the Cyndaquil to be kind of weak, like probably level 5, or 9. Or anything in between.

Thanks.

1st, you need a WEP wireless router connection. If it's WPA, the DS won't read it. Then, go to the menu screen(the part where you click continue).
Scroll down and you should see a option called WiFi settings. Click that and folllow the instructions. You're good to go now! Then, head over to Goldenrod and go to the left. Find the GTS and connect. Then find a reasonable trade and trade your Pokemon for a Cyndaquil.

Hi. I went to Route 41 next where mayntine was at. I've been trying to surf and use my rods to catch it. I use the super rod and follow by the good rod. I still find nothing. I wanted to know has anyone found one in heart gold yet. If so do you have any tips on how to find it.

You can only get Mantine by surfing over route 41, not using a fishing rod.

like... if a pokemon evolves and doesn't have a certain move in its moveset can it not learn that move? for example, grovile doesn't have mega drain in its moveset but treecko does, can it not learn mega drain if it's evolved to grovyle and I take it to the move relearner?

anything else you think I should know?

You need a heart scale for every move you want to relearn. And no, unfortunately, you won't be able to teach Grovyle Mega Drain. The move relearner cannot reteach moves that the Pokémon cannot learn normally. For example, a Raichu would not be able to relearn any "Pikachu-specific" moves.

Um this sounds to me like you're trying to breed two male Pokémon together which isn't possible :\, could you please clarify what you are saying?

ltsang January 13th, 2011 11:15 AM

I was using a ditto and magmar and the baby end up a female instead of a male. I also want to breed a scyther with bullet punch and an evee with wish. How can I do it? Can someone help me? Thanks.

Well it's just a coincidence the baby was female and if you hatch more eggs you'll eventually get a male one. As for the Scyther with Bullet Punch, it can't learn it, you have to evolve a Scyther into Scizor and use a Heart Scale to get it to learn Bullet Punch. And the easiest way to get an Eevee with Wish is by breeding a Female Eevee with a Male Smeargle that knows Wish via Sketch (You can also cross-breed the move to a Pikachu or Skitty and then to Eevee but it's a lot harder).

How do you catch a Riolu?

Sorry if the question seems somewhat "nooby" but i have no idea :'(

Sirknight January 15th, 2011 8:18 PM

You have to put down 10 forest objects and 14 peak objects in the Meadow section of the Safari Zone and wait 70 days. I would say it would be easier to go to the Quick Trade Thread and ask for one.

ShreyasPokemon January 15th, 2011 8:19 PM

I think you can catch it in the Safari Zone using the blocks.

I haven't been keeping up with Pokémon news lately so I was wondering what that Celebi/Giovanni event was. Do you need that special event Celebi to trigger this scene or will any Celebi do?
And when was this Celebi given away?

Yes, that specific Celebi would activate the in-game event (I've heard another one might as well... but it isn't meant to, and hacked ones from Johto will too, but hacked are...well, hacked!)

And I don't think there is a date for the Celebi event outside of America yet, but I think the dates for Celebi in America might be Feb 27th to March 7th via Gamestop.

Hi I battle the 3 girls down in the hiddien ocean in goldenrod city. Now After I battle all 3 of them I got the power gem from them. Now when I turned my on my game today and I look for my power gem its gone. I have no idea how it disappears from my pokemon or my backpack. Please help. My idea was maybe some wild pokemon used knock off and knock my item off.

It may be because you didn't save after you got the Power Herb (it's not the Power Gem). Maybe you accidentally used the item in battle. Also, Knock Off lasts until the Pokemon switches out or the battle ends.

I let the pokemon hold it. The power herb is one time deal. Not the the quick claw.

is Self-Destruct a TM at all? or even a Move Tutor Move in HG/SS/PLT?

Haunt January 17th, 2011 2:18 PM

So, I don't know if this has been asked anywhere else, or a similar inquiry has been made. But I felt the need to post this here, as it didn't seem permitted anywhere else. I've reached Blackthorn City on my Heart Gold, and my pokemon seem a bit under leveled. Mind you, I don't skip any battles (generally) and try to train my pokemon as evenly spread out throughout the team I have as I can. Right now, I have levels 32-36. I'm aiming to have all of my pokemon at level 36 before I challenge Claire, as even her trainers have substantially leveled pokemon. My question is basically where is a good spot to essentially grind for this? I've fought the trainers South of the city and they were a bit low leveled to offer too much experience, as well as the wild pokemon there. I'm not a big fan of grinding, but I feel like I must have fallen behind somewhere along the line. If any advice could be offered, it'd be appreciated.

Thank you (:

explosion is pretty much the same thing right? or is it a cheap knock-off that doesnt hit as hard or somthing?

how do u obtain TM:Explosion btw?

Kenshin5 January 17th, 2011 2:35 PM

Explosion Base Power is 250 and Self Destruct is 200. So knockoff I think not. Locations - Underground Path Route 5-6, (Trade Rarecandybar).

bobandbill January 17th, 2011 3:52 PM

Also note that in 4th gen games Explosion also has the unmentioned effect of halving the opponent's defense as well - by far superior to Selfdestruct.

@ Haunt - you can always rematch trainers via the phone - here's a link of when you can call who (you can battle someone as many times as you want in the time period for them btw). As for places you might have missed - Union cave has some trainers in it if you make use of Surf (and also leads to other Ruins of Alph areas in which there is another trainer too), and also there's three trainers if you surf south of Goldenrod (on route 34).

I've been trying to catch articuno tonight and still with no luck. I use pikachu's thunder wave to parlyze him and then hit him with thunder bolt a few times until he has low health. Then I use 50 ultra balls toss it at him and still with no luck. Any tips. I don't have any pokemon with sleep powered and stuff like that.

Kenshin5 January 17th, 2011 9:06 PM

Have you tried Quick Balls/Fast Balls to start off with? Then if that doesn't work Timer Ball every 10 turns. Dusk Balls come in handy.

bobandbill January 17th, 2011 9:37 PM

Also just remember Articuno has one of the worst catch rates so you'll need some luck and patience with it as well. Sleep is a better status effect than paralysis btw, but certainly any status effect helps significantly.

do they add +4 of their EV, for each pokemon you beat?

like if i beat a spearow for 1 speed, and had a power weight equiped i would also get 4 hp EVs right?

According to Bulbapedia that would be correct, then the effects a double with Pokerus. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/EV_yield

Number 1, simply because its Iv's in attack are alot better than number 2. It also has Max/Def/Sp.Def/HP Iv's and low speed and Sp.Atk, which is better all round than 2.

If your Feraligatr does not know Ice Beam, teach it that, it should OHKO the Dragonite (mine was around level 47 and it was able to do that...). If you're worried about Thunder, which should be the only threat to your Feraligatr due to its high level, have your Ho Oh use Sunny Day (it cuts Thunder's accuracy). You also should consider grinding the other members of your team to higher levels because it seems that you rely on Feraligatr a little too much...

For the move tutor, do you need one heart scale for every different attack that he teaches? Or does one just unlock it all?

I'm pretty sure you'll have to pay him another one for each attack.

Which sucks considering heart scales are rather rare.

I believe Heart Scales can be won from Pokéathlon, or found in PokéWalker, amongst other ways.

Cianwood City, Dark Cave, Route 3, Route 19, Rock Tunnel, Vermilion City, Victory Road, Tohjo Falls, Mt. Silver, Cerulean Cave.

Or you could just give them off Pokewalker courses Beautiful Beach, Warm Beach, Stormy Beach, Quite Cave. Or Pickup Ability.

you could also train some pokes that have the pickup ability, i have a pickup team that i use for stuff like EV training, and i get heart scales all the time

No, they only have the lagging tail. But Poliwhirls, slowbros, and hariyamas do hold them (5%).

Breed the MALE machop with crosschop with the FEMALE electivire. It should become an electivire with machop's moves. Btw, i am not even sure that is an egg group that works...

Have you gotten all 16 badges yet? If so you can rebattle the gym leader to level up and ev train them. Here is what time of day will each gym leader show up for a rematch. You can rebattle trainers too if you get there phone number. :D Right now I'm also training for red. I couldn't even beat him yet. All my pokes are around 40 or 50. :D This is what I'm going to use against red, crobat, tyranitar, empleon, electivwire, and a scizzor. :D I can't wait until I battle him and get my charmander. Reds pokes are in the 70 or 80. I think.

or

Just click on the days of the week to review trainers details. You can also use these trainers to ev train too.

Christopher January 26th, 2011 2:30 PM

I've never heard of anyone Ev training on the Gym leader rematches seems rather longer and impossible but hey whatever floats your boat. Plus his poke have already gotten all their Ev's (more than likely) so all you need to do is grind in the upper levels of Mt. Silver

okay i will train up there. and also.. im not to serious about it so i never have done any Ev training.. what is it?

Christopher January 26th, 2011 3:02 PM

Ev's are the stat enhancing points that each pokemon gives upon defeating them I.E gyarados gives 2 Attack Ev's so if you want a pokemon with a higher Attack stat train on nothing but Pokemon that give Attack Ev's 4 Evs equals 1 point on the way to level 100 soo by the time your level 100 all the Evs will have been used and incorporated into your stas. This is just a quick and very loose definition there are great Guides out there on Serebii and Smogon also it's worth noting you can only have a max of 255 Evs in each stat and a max of 510 Evs overall.

http://www.smogon.com/ingame/guides/ev_manual
that link should help you with pretty much all Eving questions also if you are going to battle even semi competitively Evs are a must. ( I am referring to the battle tower etc...)

what would you suggest me to Ev train my team in for Red? (to see my team ^) also, do you have any other pokes that i could possibly switch out to make my team better? thanks.

Christopher January 26th, 2011 3:17 PM

well as I stated before you team more than likely has obtained their 510 evs so it would take lots of correction berries and such to fix that plus their stats are already off but not to worry Red isn't that hard a little grinding and you'll be good to go. You could make an In-Game team help thread if you want a more extensive answer but as forn now I'l say his Lapras can take down most of your team so train Raikou and save it for the Lapras. also watch out if you use you Venusaur on his Blastoise I'm pretty sure it knows blizzard.

Serebii is your best friend when doing egg moves just use their dex pick your poke scroll down and click details on the egg move of your choice took me a whole minute if that.

I think you're doing it right. The only problem is luck because Mewtwo has a catch rate of 3, like most legendaries, making it difficult for it to be caught.

Basically, each Pokemon has a catch rate between 3 (most legendaries/Beldum line) and 255 (Pokemon like the regional birds/rodents). The odds of capture are the Pokemon's catch rate are the catch rate divided by 255, and then multiplied by the Pokemon's current health, the type of ball you're using and the Pokemon's status.

Christopher January 26th, 2011 8:39 PM

Helpful Hint? you need more pokeballs Dusk and Ultra should do also bring a dark type perhaps a spiritomb with Hypnosis they will completely stop Mewtwo as he only knows one move and it's psychic typed.

skillzlight January 26th, 2011 9:04 PM

Well all I did was bring him down really low again, sleeped him and caught him. :) where do I get a metagross?

vaporeon7 January 26th, 2011 9:08 PM

You can get a Beldum by trading a Forretress to Steven at the Silph. Co in Saffron City. Then raise it to Lv21 and evolve it into Metang and then raise it to Lv45 and then evolve it into Metagross.

You don't, you must obtain Pineco and evolve it at level 31. Too do that you need Headbutt which is taught in Ilix Forest. Then when you find tree that are able to be headbutted you commence with headbutting.

for rhyhorn, rock head becomes solid rock when it becomes a rhyperior, and lightning rod, would stay lightning rod right?

That would be right. :) Lightning Rod does stay Lightning Rod as a Rhyperior if Rhyhorn has that ability.
