But I wouldn't know where I can easely catch one level 50+...
Do Rare Candies work aswell? (Catch one level 40 and give him 15 rare candies)
Or does Ho-Oh work? (Level 70)

Thanks!

In Mt. Silver beyond the waterfall are a few lvl 50 Pokémon you can catch.

Kip December 20th, 2010 8:00 AM

Legendaries aside, the only other place you can encounter Lv. 50s is in Mt. Silver Cave.

http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mt_Silver#Generation_IV

Post-E4 legendaries are usually at Lv.50+ (except Latios/Latias), including Zapdos (Power Plant), Articuno (Seafoam Islands), Moltres (Mt. Silver) and Mewtwo (Cerulean Cave).

If you have a (legit) Shaymin in your party, a girl from the Goldenrod flower shop will give you the Gracidea flower.

I have a question, you knwo the Togepi egg we get from Prof. Elm, can the hatched Togepi ever be female? I'm SRing for a female but it's looking impossible to get one xD

There's a 12.5 % chance on a Togepi becoming female on the hatch~

Its only cause the percentage is pretty low, that's why Togepi becomes Male more often.

Bluerang1 December 21st, 2010 11:17 AM

Oh so there is a chance afterall. I'll keep trying. Thank you so much Miss Doronjo!!!

Fushigidane-Chan December 21st, 2010 3:34 PM

But also keep in mind that its gender is set when you receive the egg, not when you hatch it.

I figured -_- I just recently gave up.

This is more of a question of preference... You see I just received a Master Ball from Professor Elm. Which Pokemon should I save it for?

bobandbill December 26th, 2010 11:01 PM

Up to you, but either a legendary that would be harder to catch than normal (like Mewtwo for instance), or one of the roaming legendaries (Raikou/Entei/[email protected]) because of them constantly running away and whatnot.
If you like the challenge of catching all of those without a master ball then you can keep it for the (rather unlikely, mind) case of say encountering a shiny poke that might kill itself e.g. self-destructing geodudes.

Arios December 26th, 2010 11:07 PM

Thanks! I was contemplating using it on the Lugia, but managed to catch it with a Ultra Ball in clutch situations xD Is it possible to catch a roaming legendary without a Masterball? I mean won't they just run away after one ultraball try?

Kenshin5 December 26th, 2010 11:17 PM

From all the encounters I have had they either run after one turn or Roar you away. So if I recall correctly they indeed run. Master is not necessary, but it would make them a lot easier to obtain.

Yes, it is - you just need some luck and/or the right preperation, and some patience. For instance, using a move like Spider Web/Mean Look on the first turn or an ability like Shadow Tag (Wobbuffet) would prevent them for running away and work just fine on Latias/Latios - it's a bit harder with Raikou/Entei though as they also know Roar, but you can at least have a few goes at them at a time at least in that manner. (My way with them differs again though - Umbreon with Mean Look and Baton Pass to a Pokemon with an ability that stops Roar from working e.g. Suction Caps/Soundproof).

Kip December 27th, 2010 4:13 AM

Also bear in mind that any damage you in the battle will be carried over to the next one. Say you did 30 points of damage to Entei before it ran away - it will still be damaged when it returns. The same goes for if you paralyse it, poison it or put it to sleep. Which is really weird considering it runs off while asleep, and then you encounter it again... still sleeping. :/

Well that's how I caught Raikou with a Ultra Ball anyways. :)

I want to know what type of Gastly can I catch that is immue to whiteny's milktank stomp attack. I'm trying to defeat her with a leviated ground gastly, but it is not working. I'm playing the heart gold version and now I'm at goldenrod city about to defeat her.

Whitney's Miltank has a Scrappy nature, meaning it will always hit ghost type Pokémon.
What you can try is using a Pokémon with a accuracy decreasing move.

My advice is to weaken it a little, let it run, encounter it and weaken again, etc. The last thing to do before you attempt to catch it is use a status (sleep or paralysis preferably) and on the next encounter it will still have the status. Use a Quick Ball (x4 on the first turn I think) on the first turn and you'll have a pretty good chance of catching it

My guess is that Miltank has Scrappy as her ability so all Ghost types will be affected by her Normal type attacks. No Gastly you catch will be immune, sorry

Kenshin5 December 27th, 2010 4:46 PM

I am already well aware status effects and Quick Ball enhance the chances. I was just answering the question. You also forgot to mention Fast Ball and Dusk Ball(which is used for night). I just have multiple Master Balls so I don't even worry about it. I don't know if Timer Ball still increases the chance after 10 encounters though. I know the concept would apply for regular instances.

Arios December 27th, 2010 8:37 PM

Thanks guys ^^ I think I'm going to just save it...

oh and this is more of a... question.

Well I just navigated through Victory Road however my strongest Pokemon is Level 40. Do you think I can take on the Elite 4 xD? Anyone know any good spots to train for them?

I beat the E4 with all my team in level 42 so is up to you.
And the best place to train your team, is where you are right now, Victory Road ;D

bobandbill December 27th, 2010 9:12 PM

^ Also note you can rematch trainers via the phone, as long as you call specific trainers at specific times, if you'd rather do that than beat up wild Pokemon. =p There's info on that in the faq I believe (leastways a link to serebii's page on that), and note you can fight a trainer as often as you like in their time period.

Arios December 27th, 2010 11:35 PM

thanks for the feedback guys~ my team... is not so intimidating.
Level 40 Meganium
Level 39 Ampharos
Level 39 Pidgeot
Level 37 Eevee
Level 28 Dratini (The one I just got from the Dragon's Den) Plan to keep him as a Dragonair
HM Mule -.-

I'm probably going to use the Lugia I just caught as my 6th instead of the mule. It's untouched though.
