Auto pokewalker AKA pokerunner

Made something to auto walk on the pokewalker. Search pokerunner on Youtube so it wont let me post a link...

Yusshin March 19th, 2010 3:39 PM

More cheating methods, huh?

And it won't let you post a link because we don't want new members with two posts spamming the forums :]

thats pretty sweet, i just tie mine to a fan

IceSage March 19th, 2010 3:46 PM

I believe with something like the Pokewalker, that takes the fun out of it. I'm one of the people who has more fun unlocking things and using things the way they were intended, instead of just skipping that and getting the reward.

Games like Pokemon are completely ruined for me when I cheat at it.

The only time I ever find doing such a thing fun, is when I've already accomplished everything through normal gameplay and operations, and I'm bored of it.

For instance, I've cheated and played around with Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow/Gold several times... because it's outdated and old, and I've accomplished everything. I don't have that status with the Pokewalker yet...

This, except I just tie it to one of those bird things, the ones that have water in the back of them and constantly "peck".

Or I just tape it to one of my cat's legs. :P

I totally agree. I keep mine on me all day most days, just keep it in my pocket. I get a good 6,000 steps in most days.

Calder March 19th, 2010 6:02 PM

I just bounce my with my hand off my foot...

Dominus Temporis March 19th, 2010 6:16 PM

I either walk or shake mine in my hand. I'm getting a little exercise either way, so I figure I'm not cheesing it too badly. Although I've gotten a laugh out of reading that news piece on Bulbapedia about this study for finding other methods to build up watts...

You know why it's funny? They're putting effort into figuring out how to be lazy!

originalryan March 19th, 2010 6:19 PM

only problem i can see with the pokewalker is it takes about 1000 miles to unlock all the routes. 1000 miles is 2000000 steps, as there is about 2000 steps in a mile. Thats almost a year of wearing that thing everyday to unlock everything. I think thats a bit steep, but, i really just did this to see if i could, even with this i dont see myself using it. I would still take 15 days of running it straight to unlock everything.

MadaraUchiha. March 19th, 2010 10:27 PM

I actually tied mine to a ceiling fan 0.0.... I didnt have tape so... I improvised and well it didnt work out to well I used a wrist strap thingy and poke the pokewalker in there then put it around the propeller part then well there was a string on the back of the wrist strap with got my fan stuck. It was pretty hard to get it down.

Codysseus March 19th, 2010 10:36 PM

I found a neat indie game for the xbox 360. It sets your controller to rumble continuously. I taped the pokewalker to the controller and got about a 1000 steps in 10 minutes.

The indie game is called "Rumble Massage" if anyone wants to try it out.

ShAdow_Jirachi March 19th, 2010 11:06 PM

i just wore mine at work and got over 11000 steps haha

shanecdavis March 20th, 2010 5:42 AM

I wondered how long it would take for people to find a way to cheat with the Pokewalker. Two words - BE ACTIVE! I get around 5000 steps just during a 20-minute run. Put it in your pocket or keep it in your sock.

Aaron40 March 20th, 2010 5:44 AM

can someone tell me what is the pokewalker

shanecdavis March 20th, 2010 5:49 AM

I am addicted to this thing. I take it EVERYWHERE. It's fun to take a minute and try to find a good item or search for a Pokemon. Great way to get Pokemon and items for free, and to sell found items for cash. While in-game cash is limited, Watts are only limited by you.

Astro*Zombies March 20th, 2010 8:39 AM

lol, i rather just take mines to work since i walk so much anyways...at least i can catch pokemon and find items while im at it.

Scathe March 20th, 2010 9:50 AM

I took mine to visit colleges. Man, those college tours were about 10,000 steps each, so I accumulated almost 10000 watts in 3 days! The funny thing is the 10 hours in the car this week gave me about 20,000 steps total XD

Calvo819 March 20th, 2010 1:30 PM

we have a cuckoo clock, i taped mine to the thing that swings. it worked for like an hour until the PokeWalker fell off

Toxicroak March 20th, 2010 2:29 PM

just put in behind the hub cap and go for a road trip :D

KogiTheFox March 20th, 2010 2:38 PM

I put mine on my doggy's collar :3

TheDarkrai March 20th, 2010 3:48 PM

Lol, shaking barely works, i just put it in my pocket at school and i get a pretty good 3000 steps...

Kudo March 20th, 2010 3:50 PM

The most I do is shake it whenever I'm in class, otherwise I'll just walk with it normally. This pokerunner thing is pretty funny, I mean sure it works and all that, but it does kill the idea. I figured the pokewalker was neat and set up for the ideas of:

1.) So people will actually buy the game instead of just using an emulator or flashcard blah blah blah (hence why a the receiver/transmitter is in the game cartridge and doesn't use the DS' normal wireless capabilities).
2.) So people will learn to take a break and get some exercise for once! I know we're all dying to finish the game but this suggested moderation is something to consider here. It's a ingenious setup really so why let it go to waste for something like this?

I tried this, but because it just spun in a circle, I didn't get any steps.

My freind made one using some knex, but I doubt it is as efficient as yours.
(Search Youtube for "Pokemon Walker Machine!" to see.)

EDIT: To those who are just telling us cheaters to be active, I am. I wear it in my sock during school, and occasionally take walks with it. However, I want to unlock the Quiet Cave, which is the last course on the device. To do that I need 100,000 watts. At 20 steps per watt, that's 2 million steps! If I average 10,000 steps per day, it will take me 200 days to get that. I would much rather have a machine gather steps for me while I sleep.

Flipnotic March 20th, 2010 9:10 PM

Of course it will take 100-200 days, that is the point! It's like people rationalizing about using a cheat device to get event Pokemon. Event Pokemon are rare for a reason. You need 100,000 Watts to open Quiet Cave for a reason. Where is the fun or sense of accomplishment if you can just get everything right off the bat?

Pikachu-dance! March 21st, 2010 8:23 AM

Well I'm gonna wear mine from 6:00am (time I wake up) to 9:30pm(time i go to sleep so i can get up at 6:00am. That way i can get as many wats as possible out of the day.

CoffeeWolf March 21st, 2010 10:01 AM

I walked 5 miles yesterday and only got 12,000 steps o_o I don't regularly walk that far... and I thought I was in good shape!

dudeazombie March 21st, 2010 11:09 AM

i know this is a little off topic but dose anyone know how to XP thing works? like how much XP your pokemon gets for how many steps or watts?

shanecdavis March 21st, 2010 11:47 AM

Unless I am mistaken, it is 1 Exp Point per step, but you can only level up one level per stroll. After that you are just increasing the Pokemon's Happiness. Also, beware that unlike the Daycare Center, your Pokemon will not learn a new move when it levels up. So it is important to make sure you don't put your Pokemon out for a stroll if there is a move you want it to learn on it leveling up.

IceSage March 21st, 2010 11:52 AM

If you pay careful attention to the Japanese ad for HG/SS, it suggests to children that they should give the Pokewalker to their mom or dad when they go to work. (If you can't understand Japanese or find a subtitled version of the ad, it's the part where you see the stick figure with the briefcase walking with the Pokewalker attached.)

Gamefreaked March 21st, 2010 11:55 AM

Those of you flaming others, for trying to find a way to get the steps required for the walker faster, need to keep it to yourselves or make a new thread about it. Not everyone wants to wait two thirds of a year to unlock a course and if i remember correctly its their's not your's. They can do whatever they want with it, why should you care, it doesnt affect you. I actually applaud these attempts because at least they're trying to use their wits. Besides not everyone has the time to waste to gather the steps to unlock a course for a game they're playing.

Only one guy kind of did this in this thread, (fisheydude), so I'm not sure what you're all up in arms about. =P

The rest of us are just chiming in our two cents on how we prefer to unlock things normally.

Also, I'd rather not see a new thread with people flaming, thanks anyway though.

Sudeki March 21st, 2010 12:06 PM

I just put it in my sock, when doing normal day stuff I average 30,000 steps a day, no reason to cheat. :/

Gamefreaked March 21st, 2010 12:13 PM

It was more of a precautionary thing, sorry. I want to see some more ideas
I just don't want future flamers posting and I've seen plenty of threads like this get ruined for comments on how people either love doing it normally or hate
"cheating."

Now on with the ideas.
My friend told me that he taped his to his old washing machine and that it worked like a charm. Only problem with that is that you gotta have a really bad washing machine to use it.
I would just say shake it whenever you have time but I heard that didn't work so well so I guess I got nothing.

Shaking it works perfectly if you do it right, don't shake it really hard or something, you gotta shake it at a nice "walking" pace.

Gamefreaked March 21st, 2010 12:22 PM

Ill try that then, see what I get by tomorrow.
My only other idea is to tie it to my dog when she's in a hyper mood but I think itd be pretty big for her leg.

i gave mine to my cousins while they were at the park today. they kept fighting over who got to run with it. gotta love little kids ^_^

Jweeson March 21st, 2010 5:17 PM

I just wear mine when I'm at school, and I wear it when I play tennis. :)

I don't see why you'd need to cheat, because don't your pokemon only gain one level anyway? The only reason to cheat would be to get watts, and I would like to unlock all the different routes/courses legit-like.

Kopaka96 March 21st, 2010 5:31 PM

What I do is because I have RLS, I strap it to my sock and bounce my foot or put it in my sock and wiggle my foot for a few hours while watching a movie or TV I get 13,000 "steps" on a good day. :D

TheAppleFreak March 21st, 2010 5:41 PM

I'm in the process of building my own Pokérunner of sorts using Lego Mindstorms (man, I haven't used those things in years!), but it's not working atm. The gear ratio is too high for it to be viable (in English; it doesn't move fast enough to simulate walking). I need to work on it, and then I'll post a video showing how it works.

For the record, I'm simply too impatient to walk for 200 days to unlock everything. It seems like a chore to walk 10,000 steps per day (most of my conscious time is spent sitting doing work), so why not find a workaround? Besides, I have the technology to do this sort of thing (although I'm a little short on the time aspect) so it seems reasonable. Besides, someone has to do it.

austin00081 March 21st, 2010 5:51 PM

The thing about the Pokewalker, is that the instruction manual has a section of what NOT to do. A main thing was to not do anything other than walk with it, eg. run, bike, jog, skate, etc.
Compared to the pikachu walker, it isnt as sensitive. It actually feels the impact from your feet touching the ground, so shaking it wont do.

Even if it does take a while to unlock all locations, the Pokewalker was designed to promote exercise in children, almost forcing kids to get out and go walk.

UmbreonsShadow March 21st, 2010 8:50 PM

I keep my pokewalker on my belt all day. I usually get 6000 - 10000 steps a day depending on what errands I am running. On days that I stay home and work on homework or something I shake it on occasion so my little pokemon isn't too bored. :D

I can shake mine and rack up a bunch of steps. I guess it is just how it is shaken. I keep a stiff arm and move it at a certain speed and it seems to work. I rather to just walk around with it though. I just do this when my pokemon has the ":/" face or it is commenting on how patient it is being.

Pengy March 21st, 2010 8:56 PM

Meh, I don't really see the point of not using it how it is meant to be used.

linkinpark187 March 22nd, 2010 8:57 AM

I strap mine to myself at work. Did that for the past week and unlocked the second to last path on Friday. All I have left is one more, but it doesn't say how many Watts to open. My guess is that it's for the Yellow Forest, but I could be wrong. Any ideas?

Heart's Soul March 22nd, 2010 9:36 AM

I spin it in my hand, about 200 per 3-4 minutes.

Odish March 22nd, 2010 11:29 AM

I tried to cheat with the ceiling fan and in the dryer (with no heat) and it isn't worth it.

It's just better to put it on when you go out or need to walk to the store or something. Gives you a satisfying feeling to know it was legit. I went to the grocery store today and got 6500 steps.

sir.euge March 22nd, 2010 11:30 AM

we have a lot of wind where i live so i just stuck mine to the blinds and got 20000 steps in 12 hours. lol

560cool. March 22nd, 2010 12:02 PM

One more method ! ^^

That thing is pretty sweet too ! Looks PROmade .
How long did it take to make that ?

.little monster March 22nd, 2010 12:16 PM

That is pretty cool.

I wont do it. Takes the fun away from walking to catch me some pokermen. o3o

yes, your right... but no one here is flamming... i would rather walk/jog because i'm a fat ass who needs to lose weight. but i can't right now for reasons. i agree this is well made but its all on opinion...

TheAppleFreak April 4th, 2010 3:40 PM

Bumping this thread because I made my own Pokérunner.
It's a small little Mindstorms robot that I made in a few hours, and it's rather efficient. 60 steps every 30 seconds.

Yusshin April 4th, 2010 3:48 PM

wtf you made that robo-thing? lolol I couldn't do that :s Good job, innovative indeed.

MrGhost April 4th, 2010 7:10 PM

I'd tape it to my dogs collar, but he's a very energetic little bugger and I'm afraid he'll mess it up on one of his messy outdoor escapades.
I got like 18000 steps by moving it up and down as I watched a movie in a theater. Also, the thing goes nuts in cars. It get's like 1000 steps if you have it in your pocket for a car ride.

I agree with you, but I'm 1/2 expecting someone to flame you for taking a game so seriously :s

Katie_Q April 4th, 2010 8:34 PM

I don't really think I'll need to cheat. On a normal school day, lets see... I walk in between classes all day, and while in class, for some reason I shake my legs... boredom I guess. Then in the afternoon, I often run around the house like a maniac annoying my family. Then I take my dogs for a 30min walk. The there's the walking around the house (sit down, get up and get my phone, sit down, go walk over to the computer, sit down, go get my ds, sit down, go outside to the dogs, do the chores etc). And then I usually get on the exercise bike for about 30 mins... Oh and lets not forget whenever I'm in a car.

To be honest, I think there are plenty of people who are more fanatic than I am. I have never, for instance, tried to obtain a shiny Pokemon.

DXrobots April 4th, 2010 9:33 PM

I taped mine to an automatic fan and it surprisingly worked well.

Brittani April 5th, 2010 2:03 AM

Okay, you know its called a pokeWALKER right? not a pokefindawaytobelazyandstillgetwatts. hehe the general idea was for you to actually EARN the watts, because then you know you earned them and that you didnt cheat. its almost like your in a race and when they say GO everyone takes off running but you just stay there and then you pretend you ran around the track like the others and make first place. So why would you want to try so hard to be lazy like that, and get the watts by cheating. I'm not trying to be mean but i'm thinking that some of you aren't getting the point of the pokewalker.

Yeah lol I suppose xD You just go so passionate; I could see someone throwing a pie at you ;-;

I'd be the same way :P EARN YOUR WATTS! Bunch of lazy people.

That machine that one guy made is still neat though :s

Kirkland April 5th, 2010 2:08 AM

Haha the machine is funny. I usually give the pokewalker to my mom, she'll come running in about an hour later going, I CAUGHT A POKEMON! And totally embarrasing herself. I guess she doesn't really care though, ha. When she's not got it, I just clip it to my watch since I'm on the computer a lot and moving my hand to move the mouse and type so its all good. ~

Mimikyu402 April 5th, 2010 2:17 AM

Im usually quite active the only downside with the pokewalker is that the steps reset every time the clock turns 12 am and 12 pm so I have to try my hardest everyday to reach over 10 000 to get a chance to find a surf or fly pikachu in yellow forest

TheAppleFreak April 5th, 2010 6:33 AM

I wasn't trying to start a flame war with bumping this thread. And for the record, I only use this machine (which apparently needs a few design mods) when I'm working (e.g. writing papers, doing other work). When I'm moving around, I do take it with me; I'm just saying its a better alternative than having no steps gained when I'm not moving.

Supersonic Bears April 5th, 2010 7:12 AM

Your best bet is to tape it on something that vibrates. I got a little battery-powered edger and taped it to that. I get 7,500 steps every hour or so.

TechnoSparkX April 5th, 2010 7:28 AM

i walk with it to places but if not i just shake it

Supersonic Bears April 5th, 2010 8:20 AM

Whatever you do, DON'T follow the guide video telling you to put your pokewalker in the dryer. I read the commments under the video and a bunch of people were talking about how that guy broke their pokewalkers

Ru-Kun April 5th, 2010 9:25 AM

I have been just putting it in my pocket to gain watts and stuff. I tried the ceiling fan just to see if it would work but it didn't as someone posted earlier because it just goes around in circles.

I wouldn't classify using a device to level up your Pokemon cheating. I would classify it as using your resources! I think it would be cool to make my own device to do this, not because I'm lazy, because I think it would be fun to make it!

Psychic Nick April 5th, 2010 1:01 PM

I'd hate to see you learn to spell suit properly. And for going to work with a pokemon pedometer on. I'm sure you'll get that promotion. Just tell your boss you'll trade his 8-year old son your level 100 pikachu.

What is with you? Not all Americans are fat you jerk.
I get over 50,000 steps a day, and I'm in great shape.
You can't group an entire country together as one thing, as everyone is different.

Now that I got out all my RAGE, I'd like to point out to all you lazy jiggle bellies out their with a Pokéwalker that there is a group for all you, and anyone who like actually WALKING with their Pokéwalker, instead of being lazy about it.

clicky
The Biggest Loser: Pokéwalker Edition

Get out, and don't be lazy...

Unfortunately, Americans are stereotyped as arrogant, fat, and ignorant, so :s not that I think that way; I find stereotypes demeaning, but the Americans who come to Canada always do their "effed up" when they're here and get their butts handed to them.

I get around 5000 steps daily, since I don't work or go to school (independent studies). I'm hoping to get a job soon so I can become a bit more active. An hour of walking a day (constantly) can have drastic health benefits.

Yeah, I know, I find stereotypes pretty dumb... Speaking of Canada, I've always wanted to move to Ottawa... ANYWAYS, I got about 23,000 steps today... had to walk about 15 miles from my house, to Oregon, get on a train to another city, JUST SO I COULD BUY ASIAN FOOD CAUSE I WANTED SOME (Like, the real stuff you cook yourself, not ramen and other weeaboo crap like that.) and back to my place... exhausted.

Weeaboooooo!!! lolol I want couscous, it's so delicious *.* and holy crap, you walked a far way. The best I got using the PokeWalker was 12,000 in one day! That was when I went for an hour walk, and had a lot of meetings around town (Job Connect / Unemployment Centre, visit outreach independent studies supervisor, go to the mall to hand out resumes, etc.) I can't imagine getting above 12,000 (5,000 average) unless I get a job :s (I have an interview for Staples on Wednesday; please wish me luck >< I have no experience but I'm awesome with people and computers, and I have certificates and stuff, but no experience, and there's like 50 other people having an interview on the same day -.-)

Ninja Caterpie April 6th, 2010 4:53 AM

Get off your backs and walk the stupid thing. It's called a PokeWALKER, not a PokeShaker or a PokeTie-it-to-a-fanner.

I usually get around 5k if I take it to school. =|

Pokewalker Cheat :)

I was really bored and one day I tired to figure out how to unlock new trail really fast. I tired shaking tapping and even to my dog. Shaking and tapping didn't work and my dog is lazy >_>. So one day I tired to use my ceiling fan i took duck tape and taped it to my fan turned it on high and left it there for an hour and holy cow it WORKED! I was shocked but I figured out how it works you have to keep a rythem and keep it same passe to make it work. I just thought I would leave my findings here to help out the fellow community on how to get steps fast. ;)

Subject April 6th, 2010 2:08 PM

I was thinking of doing that lol...Did Nintendo really think kids would run with these? or just shake them...im shakeing mine right now get meself a musclely arm!

TechnoSparkX April 6th, 2010 2:16 PM

lol shaking works if you shake it for every 10mins its what i do but i put it in my pocket while riding my bike and racked up alot of steps

Ziraider April 6th, 2010 2:16 PM

Well I can now use my fan so much easier to get the watts. I think that they tempted to try to keep you from shaking them but sorta don't work some times it does. But I'm not sure why I got my ceiling fan to work better.

The Fame Monster April 6th, 2010 2:18 PM

wow the ceiling fan works?!?!

imma do that tomorrow hahahaha

Guy April 6th, 2010 2:19 PM

... And so the many method of PokéWalker cheats continue. XD; Seeing as there is already a thread to discuss the many different methods of getting step counts on the PokéWalker, I'll just merge this one with that to continue the topic.

Ziraider April 6th, 2010 2:22 PM

Okay, Hirrio thank you :)

FireApe2135 April 6th, 2010 2:49 PM

I found a way to use an Iphone to get the steps, I don't know if I am allowed to post the Apps name, but it is a vibrating massage app, aka constant vibrations. So, if you find where the vibrations are the most, and place the pokewalker there (tape it or position it so that it wont shake off) then you can get about 5000 steps/hour, only problem is it is noisy and you waste your phone battery

Subject April 6th, 2010 2:54 PM

I was thinking of doing that but with the xbox indie game rumble massage and tape it to it.lol

In plain english: It works by repedative, rythmic motion.... keeping it in a constant, steady movement.

Mwah. A+. I wish I had a Pokewalker lesson is physics...

It was hilarious, the whole hour we did nothing whilst our teacher tried to 'crack' it. luckily he didnt know about pokemon. phew. By the time the bell rung i had many steps and a sound way to make quck steps. but walking seems to be the best way.

Now just to get me one of those lamps... D:

The Fame Monster April 7th, 2010 5:32 AM

i attached mine to the end of a fin on my fan and just turned it on low. i didnt use high cause im afraid the weight difference will cause high pressure on the plastic and break the fin inevitably scaring me to death =(

I got a new pad for StepMania (open-source DDR) yesterday. I played for a few hours with my pokewalker on me and got a bunch of watts. It might not be a lazy cheat, but I kind of felt like I was cheating since I was getting rewarded for playing another video game. :v

Subject April 7th, 2010 10:43 AM

I have found a new way and it works wonders! Heres a step by step.

Things you need: Pokewalker (dur) and an XBOX 360 and a controller for it oh and tape.

1. Ok once your on xbox live you will need to go to the market place.
2. Then go to indie games.
3. Find "Remote Massage" download that.
4. Get your tape and tape it to the handles of the controller(and if you have plug and play use that bat dies faster with this on)
5. Go do something for an hour :p

i left it on last night and got 93520 steps 4696 Wats

Don't you get Yellow Forest from an event?
:?

Anyway, since I never risk my Pokewalker by taking it to school, AND I almost never go outside (I am very picky when it comes to friends), I usually shake it at a "jogging" pace, and surprisingly, it actually works. (Once Spring Break ends, I'm gonna start taking it to school.)
