Pikachu-dance! March 21st, 2010 8:23 AM

Well I'm gonna wear mine from 6:00am (time I wake up) to 9:30pm(time i go to sleep so i can get up at 6:00am. That way i can get as many wats as possible out of the day.

CoffeeWolf March 21st, 2010 10:01 AM

I walked 5 miles yesterday and only got 12,000 steps o_o I don't regularly walk that far... and I thought I was in good shape!

dudeazombie March 21st, 2010 11:09 AM

i know this is a little off topic but dose anyone know how to XP thing works? like how much XP your pokemon gets for how many steps or watts?

shanecdavis March 21st, 2010 11:47 AM

Unless I am mistaken, it is 1 Exp Point per step, but you can only level up one level per stroll. After that you are just increasing the Pokemon's Happiness. Also, beware that unlike the Daycare Center, your Pokemon will not learn a new move when it levels up. So it is important to make sure you don't put your Pokemon out for a stroll if there is a move you want it to learn on it leveling up.

If you pay careful attention to the Japanese ad for HG/SS, it suggests to children that they should give the Pokewalker to their mom or dad when they go to work. (If you can't understand Japanese or find a subtitled version of the ad, it's the part where you see the stick figure with the briefcase walking with the Pokewalker attached.)

Those of you flaming others, for trying to find a way to get the steps required for the walker faster, need to keep it to yourselves or make a new thread about it. Not everyone wants to wait two thirds of a year to unlock a course and if i remember correctly its their's not your's. They can do whatever they want with it, why should you care, it doesnt affect you. I actually applaud these attempts because at least they're trying to use their wits. Besides not everyone has the time to waste to gather the steps to unlock a course for a game they're playing.

Only one guy kind of did this in this thread, (fisheydude), so I'm not sure what you're all up in arms about. =P

The rest of us are just chiming in our two cents on how we prefer to unlock things normally.

Also, I'd rather not see a new thread with people flaming, thanks anyway though.

Sudeki March 21st, 2010 12:06 PM

I just put it in my sock, when doing normal day stuff I average 30,000 steps a day, no reason to cheat. :/

Gamefreaked March 21st, 2010 12:13 PM

It was more of a precautionary thing, sorry. I want to see some more ideas
I just don't want future flamers posting and I've seen plenty of threads like this get ruined for comments on how people either love doing it normally or hate
"cheating."

Now on with the ideas.
My friend told me that he taped his to his old washing machine and that it worked like a charm. Only problem with that is that you gotta have a really bad washing machine to use it.
I would just say shake it whenever you have time but I heard that didn't work so well so I guess I got nothing.

Shaking it works perfectly if you do it right, don't shake it really hard or something, you gotta shake it at a nice "walking" pace.

Gamefreaked March 21st, 2010 12:22 PM

Ill try that then, see what I get by tomorrow.
My only other idea is to tie it to my dog when she's in a hyper mood but I think itd be pretty big for her leg.

HA! Good idea :P
I should try that.

Eurydice March 21st, 2010 5:13 PM

i gave mine to my cousins while they were at the park today. they kept fighting over who got to run with it. gotta love little kids ^_^

Jweeson March 21st, 2010 5:17 PM

I just wear mine when I'm at school, and I wear it when I play tennis. :)

I don't see why you'd need to cheat, because don't your pokemon only gain one level anyway? The only reason to cheat would be to get watts, and I would like to unlock all the different routes/courses legit-like.

Kopaka96 March 21st, 2010 5:31 PM

What I do is because I have RLS, I strap it to my sock and bounce my foot or put it in my sock and wiggle my foot for a few hours while watching a movie or TV I get 13,000 "steps" on a good day. :D

TheAppleFreak March 21st, 2010 5:41 PM

I'm in the process of building my own Pokérunner of sorts using Lego Mindstorms (man, I haven't used those things in years!), but it's not working atm. The gear ratio is too high for it to be viable (in English; it doesn't move fast enough to simulate walking). I need to work on it, and then I'll post a video showing how it works.

For the record, I'm simply too impatient to walk for 200 days to unlock everything. It seems like a chore to walk 10,000 steps per day (most of my conscious time is spent sitting doing work), so why not find a workaround? Besides, I have the technology to do this sort of thing (although I'm a little short on the time aspect) so it seems reasonable. Besides, someone has to do it.

austin00081 March 21st, 2010 5:51 PM

The thing about the Pokewalker, is that the instruction manual has a section of what NOT to do. A main thing was to not do anything other than walk with it, eg. run, bike, jog, skate, etc.
Compared to the pikachu walker, it isnt as sensitive. It actually feels the impact from your feet touching the ground, so shaking it wont do.

Even if it does take a while to unlock all locations, the Pokewalker was designed to promote exercise in children, almost forcing kids to get out and go walk.

UmbreonsShadow March 21st, 2010 8:50 PM

I keep my pokewalker on my belt all day. I usually get 6000 - 10000 steps a day depending on what errands I am running. On days that I stay home and work on homework or something I shake it on occasion so my little pokemon isn't too bored. :D

I can shake mine and rack up a bunch of steps. I guess it is just how it is shaken. I keep a stiff arm and move it at a certain speed and it seems to work. I rather to just walk around with it though. I just do this when my pokemon has the ":/" face or it is commenting on how patient it is being.

Pengy March 21st, 2010 8:56 PM

Meh, I don't really see the point of not using it how it is meant to be used.

linkinpark187 March 22nd, 2010 8:57 AM

I strap mine to myself at work. Did that for the past week and unlocked the second to last path on Friday. All I have left is one more, but it doesn't say how many Watts to open. My guess is that it's for the Yellow Forest, but I could be wrong. Any ideas?

Heart's Soul March 22nd, 2010 9:36 AM

I spin it in my hand, about 200 per 3-4 minutes.

Odish March 22nd, 2010 11:29 AM

I tried to cheat with the ceiling fan and in the dryer (with no heat) and it isn't worth it.

It's just better to put it on when you go out or need to walk to the store or something. Gives you a satisfying feeling to know it was legit. I went to the grocery store today and got 6500 steps.

sir.euge March 22nd, 2010 11:30 AM

we have a lot of wind where i live so i just stuck mine to the blinds and got 20000 steps in 12 hours. lol

560cool. March 22nd, 2010 12:02 PM

One more method ! ^^

That thing is pretty sweet too ! Looks PROmade .
How long did it take to make that ?

.little monster March 22nd, 2010 12:16 PM

That is pretty cool.

I wont do it. Takes the fun away from walking to catch me some pokermen. o3o
