So I've been constantly berated for my team choice in HeartGold and I feel quite proud of my "little engines that could" today.
I entered the battle against Whitney with a Croconaw, a Flaaffy, an Ivysaur, and a Togepi. I didn't have much of a strategy, but when the battle started, I instantly paralyzed her Clefairy and then took him down in about three ThunderShocks. So I went against Miltank next, obviously. Paralyzed him right away, but it had a berry that healed it, so Flaaffy paralyzed again and ThunderShocked a few times, but in the end, it took out my Flaaffy. Then Ivysaur came out, because I wasn't sure if Whitney could heal Paralysis and Ivysaur has Sleep Powder, so that'd be my next move. But I ended up Leech Seeding it and Razor Blading a lot, but that stupid Milk Drink move kept healing it. So thanks to the advice of a good friend, I just let it whittle away at its Milk Drink PP until it practically ran out. It kept using Attract, so I kept swapping between Croconaw and Ivysaur, whittling away constantly at its HP. Croconaw would Bite it and cause it to flinch, stopping it from using Milk Drink if it had any left. Then I pulled out my Togepi for a final blow, since we neared the end (Whitney also used a Super Potion at some point) and so I used Metronome and Togepi landed on some bird move that repeatedly attacked Miltank. Miltank managed to land a final Stomp in, but the Leech Seed scraped away that last bit of HP, ending the battle about 8 minutes after it began. So I'm proud of my team. They don't suck, despite what I've been told frequently. :> |
Well um, embarassing but I started the game off a little late because you know the man in the first town, Cherrygrove, that shows you around and crap? Well I dreaded talking to him SO much that I trained my Cyndaquil into a level 19 Quilava before I finally asked my boyfriend to talk to the man for me, from there I easily sweeped Whitney as well as the other two because of my level difference. On my Heartgold game, I still had a Cyndaquil (didn't evolve it) so I used smokescreen and her rollout keep missing.
Whitney was essentially the equivalent of a regular trainer. I just spammed my strongest move and she went down in a few turns. I wasn't over-levelled or anything; Miltank just got nerfed (does it even have Milk Drink now?) and I guess I was lucky that my Quagsire was female, although I didn't think anything of it until after the match. I was disappointed to be honest :[
There was no challenge for me, I just used Ember or Flame Wheel, whichever my Quilava had at the time.
The Rock Throw of Luck! Geodude was my final pokemon, and about to faint, too.
I wasn't looking forward to taking on Whitney after all the trouble she gave me in Gold all those years ago. Curse you pink haired lady for almost ruining my childhood.
Anyway, when I got to her in HeartGold, she really wasn't that bad at all and beat her in one go, unlike Gold where it took me a long time to do so. Yes, Milk Drink and Attract are irritating, but Stomp isn't too bad if you don't get flinched and Rollout isn't as intemidating as it once was for me. I had more trouble with Bugsy in all honesty. |
Traded Drowzee for Machop
Lucked out with a female one. Won. No effort required. I thanked Machp "Mucle" for all her hard work, and deposited her in the box. I have been doing that since the Gold-en days. |
Surprisingly, I beat her on my first go with low Level 20's (Onix & Bayleef) I was expecting to get beat atleast 4/5 times, Or more.. :P
The most recent battle with Whitney resulted in Croconaw and Geodude taking care of business on my first try, but I was scared of her =/
My Typloshion OHKO'ed all her pokemon.
It was unexpectedly easy for me. I remember that The Miltank didn't use Milk Drink once, which is the only thing I was really scared of. I'm not sure what pokemon I used, I'm thinking my bayleaf.
Nidorino + Double Kick much?
Yeah, I pwnd. |
Easy. I just battled her normaly, and used some potions. Flaafy used thunder a few times, and that was it.
I was scared when i first battled her, because she was apparently so hard to everyone, but she turned out easy!Because of one thing.
Nidoqueen+Super effective Double Kick+Rivalry=EPIC PWN! :P |
I beat her by luck. Here is how the final part of the battle went.
*Clefairy used Metronome* *Clefairy used Blast Burn* *Pichu says, "Oh crap"* *Pichu barely lives* *Pichu uses Volt Tackle* *Clefairy faints* *Pichu faints* *Go Slowprince* *Jimmy beat Leader Whittney* |
I don't remember the battle exactly, I can just remember cussing out the Miltank for using Milk Drink, or whatever that attack is. The battle took so long I had to use struggle. I could've just switched out my Pokemon, but I'm stubborn,
I just got a Machop, and buffed that up a bit to level 20 (?). Low kick all the way.
I think I had used Geodude for most of the battles in Goldenrod City. It had Rock Smash and I easily won that.
I hope somebody makes a thread about how they beat Morty. I got a hell of a story for that battle! |
I'm doing a Normal-type Mono Challenge, so I had to rely on all-out attacks to pierce Miltank and its monstrous defenses, with recovery. My Togetic and Ambipom were strong enough to take it down though, along with everything else inside the Gym.
Shortly before reaching Goldenrod City, I caught a Wobbuffet on the Pokéwalker and added her to my team, just because I had never had the patience to raise one before and wanted to try it. When I got to Whitney, the rest of my team, which was decently leveled, took care of Clefairy. Then I just sent out Wobbuffet who Countered the crap out of Miltank.
I felt like that was a really cheap and unfair thing to do, though, so shortly after the battle, I took Wobbuffet out of my team. :/ |
I got lucky and it didn't use Milk Drink. :P
For the first time ever I actually used "Rocky" the Onix to defeat her -- although it was still challenging, 'cause she used Attract and I was immobilized by love most of the time. I had to use a few potions, but Rocky did the job eventually :]. I'd say Whitney was the most interesting leader to fight...none of the others really stand out like she does.
I beat her like a week ago, yet I can't remember... o___o I just remember her taking out almost everyone of my Pokemon with Attract and Stomp, and I finally beat her with one Pokemon... which I think was Quagsire. :3
I got a critical hit on it with Pinsir, I got really lucky there.
I was like BOOM I BOUGHT the focus bomb tm then i was like BOOM teach it too quilava and flaffy, then i was like BOOOOOOOM miltank is lacking in special defence and i iced her butt.....EXACTLY HOW IT HAPPENED OHKO
