Which trainer did you have the most trouble with?

It can be any trainer, gym leader, or elite 4 member you want. It can also be your rival.

In my experience I've had the most trouble on Bugsy because I only had a Bayleef.

Sanosuku March 24th, 2010 1:02 PM

Lance >_> It took me four tries to beat him. Sure, i could have just let myself lose and train some more, but i was determined, and eventually odds worked in my favor XD. I kicked all three of his dragonite's butts with my level 43 Vaporeon and Ice Beam ^^

pokejungle March 24th, 2010 1:04 PM

Route 48, the duo who use Magmar and Electabuzz xD All my pokemon were like weak to fire or electric... :<

I lost the most to Bugsy though early on

MadaraUchiha. March 24th, 2010 1:33 PM

Hmm well gym leaders would be: Chuck and... Chuck XD Random Trainers: ?!? YOUR ABLE TO LOSE TO THEM?!! And Elite 4: Karen (Ugh dark type...) and Lance (Seriously he has 3 dragonites and heals a ton!)

CrashSmAshley March 24th, 2010 1:34 PM

I actually have the most trouble with my rival...Seems his pokémon are always a level or two more than mine!

Don't i know it >_> I FINALLY took down all three Dragonites and was facing Aerodactyl with Jolteon so it was a rush to beat out Rockslide over Thunderbolt. I'd get him almost dead, and then he'd use a full restore.. He ended up using like 5 in s row before i was able to take down his Pokemon.

Aro-kun March 24th, 2010 1:56 PM

Bugsy and his annoying syther >_< I picked chikorita....The battle was pretty epic tho, since it was a stall war with my Eevee and his syther (my Eevee knew wish and charm) Both times i battled him hed crit my Eevee eventually or Ahnihalate my Bayleaf.....So i traded over gamestop jirachi :D (Rare candied trained to equal level as the rest of my team lol)

Coin March 24th, 2010 2:34 PM

Well, I haven't had any real trouble, considering I trained a LOT, instead of advancing into the game.

Out of everyone, though...
Probably the generic trainers, like Red and Lance.

Butterfree-Charizard March 24th, 2010 2:52 PM

Lance was crazy! I nearly lost, luckily I had couple max revives.

shanecdavis March 24th, 2010 2:59 PM

I've never had any problem with any of the gym leaders. Liz and Tate were probably the only ones that actually attempted to cover their glaring mono-type weakness. The "Elite" Four are also a joke, especially Lance. I mean seriously, dude has THREE Dragons. If you don't account for that you deserve to lose. Ice Beam = easy win. Ash (Red) is probably the toughest trainer for me, although I have yet to face him in HGSS. He is tough mainly because his team is diverse, I typically only have a team of 4 Pokemon, I don't use items during battle, and my levels are lower than his.

Exactly the same for me I got a Bayleef and Pigeoto, Pidgeoto could hold its own but the u-turn still killed it. So I traded the Bellsprout for the Onix and got rock tomb to kill it.

johnnshepherd March 24th, 2010 3:21 PM

I started with the chikorita for the simple fact that I would be different. I'm working on my fifth badge (the gym in Mahogony Town) and I'm having a little trouble and I'm being forced to go back and level my growlithe because it seems to be my only usable pokemon (paired with my Kadabra) against the ice pokemon. I do agree though, that Scyther was a *****. I managed to get him by poison powdering him off the bat and, after i got the other metapod and kakuna out of the way, just synthesising and super potioning over and over again until the poison got him.

Livewire March 24th, 2010 3:32 PM

karen, but specifically her houndoom. my typhlosion missed all 5 focus blasts (without any modifiers) then karen pumped up 3 nasty plots and murdered my team with assorted dark pulses and flamethrowers. almost OHKO'd my kingdra with flamethrower, but i surfed it and survived

Lt_Nite March 24th, 2010 3:49 PM

Sabrina, seriously took me like 6 tries to beat her, she spammed psychic and that move would wipe me outtttttttt.

this.

Half of my team at the time was weak to electric attacks, and the Magmar kep burning me, I was totally unprepared for it...

Objection! March 24th, 2010 5:08 PM

I'm laughing at all the people who are complaining about Lance and his Dragonite. I spent about twenty minutes in Victory Road getting my Feraligatr to Lv. 45, and he was at 47 when I actually got to Lance. I spammed three Blizzards in a row and didn't miss once.

Anyways, the most annoying would be a tie between Falkner and Rival at the west end of Azeala Town (I believe that's the place...). At Falkner I had a Lv. 13 Totodile and Lv. 12 Hoothoot, but that freaking Pidgeotto and it's Roost got me everytime. It took me ten tries and twice as many Leers from Alpha (Totodile). Then the Rival... I just couldn't freaking beat his Bayleef! My only Pokemon with an advantage over it was Gamma (Hoothoot) and all she knew was Peck.

Funnily enough, all those big obstacles that people always moan about are the ones I train for for sometimes an entire half-hour, and then they're no trouble. Example: Blue, Lance, and Whitney were all beaten on the first try. I'm currently gearing up for the massive training period for my battle with Red.

Human March 24th, 2010 5:49 PM

Kimono girls -_-;

Namely the one with Jolteon, which wipes out my team. So, I went out and got myself a Cubone, which I have to train up from Lv. 17. :\

Wow, ME TOO! They murdered me!

austin00081 March 24th, 2010 5:56 PM

The Kimono Girls were harder for me to beat than Lance.

Mr. X March 24th, 2010 6:24 PM

2nd rival battle. All his pokemon were easy to beat... then he sent out bayleef. It destroyed me... Synthsis and reflect ruined any chances of a easy victory.

Wild Electrode March 24th, 2010 6:58 PM

-The 2nd Rival battle, because my entire team was weak to Bayleef.
-Lance, because he's Lance.
-Red, because he's Red. Extra hard when your strongest is a 61 and half your team consists of HM slaves.
-The double battle against Lance and Clair. They double teamed my rival and I was left fighting two on one with my severly underleveled Pokemon.

neonat2 March 24th, 2010 7:03 PM

For me Lance(3 dragonites seriously?), and Blue(Trick room screwed me up badly).

jolteon. March 24th, 2010 7:08 PM

Hm, I was playing through my brother's game because he was stuck, and a stupid slowpoke kept yawning and (growling?) at my pokemons, so it was a long fight. Quilava was all he trained, and that was fainted. Everything else was useless but we managed to win.

Lucipher March 24th, 2010 7:40 PM

Lance without a doubt. I mean come on, 3 dragonites really? However, Sabrina with Alakazam and Espeon and Whitney para haxing me the whole time with her miltank were also troublesome...

Same for me too. Blue's Trick Room would kill my party if he got it off. His Machamp would sweep my entire team, lol. I thought I had a pretty balanced team, but Lance was still difficult. I had nothing for his Gyarados, and even with Lapras his Dragonites took a lot effort to finish off. I was pretty bad under leveled and need a lot of revives and potions.

Froggy_00 March 24th, 2010 8:50 PM

For me it was probably Clair. I only lost to her once but I had to go catch a Lapras and train it to level 35+ to spam Ice Beams on her dragons.

KurlyFries March 24th, 2010 9:30 PM

Children, children.. Sounds like none of you have faced Lance on the second run of the E4, after the National Dex.
His team is scary, and twice I was creamed by a beastly Salamence. I brought down his
evil mence with my Dragonite (it used flamethrower?! lolhax) and I used my Choice Scarfed Feraligator with Ice Punch to tear down Garchomp and a Dragonite that outleveled my entire team by at least 9 levels. The rest came naturally. But the most annoying and difficult trainer is Koga (yes, on the Post-National Dex E4.) Toxic + Black Sludge + 4 Minimizes = a ridiculous Muk that you will learn to loathe as I have.

Kuni Kagami March 25th, 2010 1:13 AM

It was easy beating lance but i did have a problem with Blue/Green , I just was a little behind in training.
I was also glad/a little disappointed they mellowed out Whitney's milktank from spamming rollout. xD

Yeah i just fought the new elite , great training , Had trouble with koga but that was about it.

Muffin™ March 25th, 2010 3:52 AM

Lance and his 3 ******* dragons.

Xine March 25th, 2010 4:57 AM

- Lance and Clair (stupid Dragonair resist everything on my team)
- Kimono girl (no heal or change 1st slot pokemon...pfft)
- Morty (gengar's shadow ball pwn me)

and maybe Red...but i managed to defeat him with four lvl 55 (my team) and two lvl 70 pokemon (ho-oh and mewtwo), lol

perfectmonster March 25th, 2010 5:15 AM

Bloody Falkner keeps using bloody Roost! Its driving me up the freaking wall!!!

Skystrike March 25th, 2010 7:09 AM

Morty.

(god, I hate you, Gengar. I WILL PWN U.....wai, I DID!)

BassFace March 25th, 2010 8:05 AM

Regular Trainers:
That duo on Route 47 with the Magmar and Electabuzz. I had Lapras (who was weak against electric attacks) and Flaaffy out, and they were paralyzed within minutes. Fortunately, Flaaffy managed to paralyze both Electabuzz and Magmar, too. Both of them hung on for a while, but I eventually had to pull Lapras out and switch in Quilava. She was quickly inflicted with paralysis as well, but she and Flaaffy hung in there and took down Electabuzz (I’m pretty sure Magmar was out of there by the time I made the switch).

The first Skier in Pryce’s Gym. That Jynx froze my Ampharos solid twice in a row! What are the chances? The next time I faced her, I equipped Ampharos with an Aspear Berry, and guess what? The Jynx didn’t even use Ice Punch…

Any trainer in the game with a Pikachu as their main Pokemon. Double Team, Thunder Wave… that pretty much sums it up. Not to mention their ability has a chance of paralyzing any Pokemon that uses a direct attack on them.

Gym Leaders:
Morty, Morty, and did I mention Morty? His Gengar’s Shadow Ball pretty much wiped the floor with my Pokemon. The Pokemon with the best Special Defense on my team was Quilava (whose Special Defense is average at best… guess what that says about the rest of my team?), and she still lost a good 50-60% of her HP from one attack. She was also the fastest Pokemon on my team, and still unable to beat out that Gengar in speed. I think the only reason I managed to put that Gengar away was because of a critical hit with Flame Wheel.

Gulpin March 25th, 2010 8:15 AM

One of the trainers in Blue's gym gave me some trouble. I think it's Spinda knocked out my Typhlosion :( Trick Room + Confusion + STAB + Typh Hurting Himself = Typh dying :(

YAY! Just caught level 70 Ho-oh!!!

Kristine March 25th, 2010 9:10 AM

So far I haven't had a lot of trouble with any trainers, but I'm on my way to the Elite Four right now, so I'll see how I do there. I just crossed into Kanto for the first time. My Pokemon are a 37 Piloswine, 38 Typhlosion, 40 Seadra, 40 Golbat, 43 Hypno, and 43 Pidgeot, and I haven't gone through Victory Road yet.

I had some annoyance with Morty though, because I forgot to buy more Awakenings before I challenged him, and his Gengars put my entire team to sleep. Every time my Pokemon would wake up, the Gengars would use Hypnosis again. :knockedou Eventually my Togetic defeated them with a combo of Sweet Kiss and Yawn.

Heart Gold March 25th, 2010 9:15 AM

I beat Morty with my Gengar.

THIS THIS THIS. >:| That double battle with the Magmar and Electabuzz. I had no more revives, no more potion-like items and I was down to my last Pokémon. I still don't know how I survived that battle. The only Pokemon I had that weren't weak to Electabuzz were Ampharos (who I think was sent out first and fainted) and Cherrim who... fails against Magmar. Ugh. That battle was SO STRESSFUL since I really didn't want to walk all the way back out there. D:

Lmao, aside from that trainer, I guess I had problems with Lance. Augh, that Dragonite that new Thunder? >_< That took forever to beat. It wasn't as stressful as the aforementioned battle, however, since I'd saved right before it. XD; It took two tries to beat Lance, and they took forever each time (and actually my first loss was embarrassingly... embarrassing) but it still doesn't invoke the same rage that the double battle did. >8|

Pikachu-dance! March 25th, 2010 11:12 AM

Bugsy. He was an absolute nightmare and i am so annoyed that i have to defeat him again because i accidentally started a new game.

ChrisTom March 25th, 2010 12:02 PM

Yeah, I sucked at Bugsy too...

That battle was pure Evidence why Pokemon with scythes are awesome. Scyther, Seviper, Kabutops(most awesome of all, although he has a quadruple weakness to grass...).

But what really got me was Clair and the Miscellany of trainers after Ice Path. I thought to myself: "Wait? Since when were my Pokemon supposed to be Lvl 35?!"

I just got to level 35 before the Kimono Girls.

BlueDartX March 25th, 2010 12:49 PM

Lance
-if I had taken the one pokemon challenge or continued to stop my pokemon from evolving, I would have been a roasted pidgey. His tri-Dragonite force was invincible. He had a thunder one to counter my bird and an ice one to counter my grass. His Aeryldactyl was nothing to laugh at either. Luckily, I was rolling in money at that point in the game.
-During the double battle, he defeated my rival with great ease too. It was five times worse than the champion battle.

...I can't even imagine facing his fury after Red with my duo.

Zebeedoo March 25th, 2010 1:13 PM

I only got the game today. But Bugsy is seriously giving me problems as I have only got a level 23 Bayleef on my team. =P

Quilava's Master March 25th, 2010 1:54 PM

Yes starting with Bayleef is such a pain in my rear!! Bugsy folded me three times, even though I out leveled his Scyther by 12 levels. Oh and the demon trainers on route 47 with the Magmar & Electabuzz! Bayleef is by far the worst starter in the history of starer Pokemon!

OscarGrouch March 25th, 2010 3:47 PM

For me, I'd have to say Lance (although I haven't fought Red yet :3). The one Pokemon I was prepared for the first time around was Gyrados. A clean Thunder by Ampharos, and he was finished. But the rest of the dragons, I had nothing. I had to lose and go back for Lugia, and teach it some Ice moves if I even wanted a chance to win. The rest were quite easy. As long as I had Fire and Electric Pokemon, the game was quite easy.

mxh91 March 25th, 2010 10:01 PM

The only time I ever had trouble battling was when I was fighting the Kimono girls. They were whoopin' my butt! I survived with only one Pokemon left and it was a level 42 Feraligatr (ev trained).

Lorenzo_Von_Matterhorn March 25th, 2010 10:21 PM

No Worries Until The Battle Frontier....

Yeah, I don't see myself having any trouble taking out any of the region gym leaders or the Elite Four since I haven't even started my game yet (trying to get a shiny starter though soft-resetting)... I definitely won't have any trouble annihilating my rival although, the Battle Frontier is another issue altogether because the odds are always stacked up against me there... I pray I don't chuck my DSi at my Wii...

-Lorenzo

CrashSmAshley March 26th, 2010 11:02 AM

Clair. And her ******* Kingdra!

PiPVoda March 26th, 2010 12:33 PM

I had the most trouble with Karen surprisingly. Her Umbreon was just dodging ALL of my attacks, and got 3 of my pkmn's health almost into red. I had to use 5 of my 6 pokemon to take down that ONE Umbreon, and yes all of them were like 2-4 levels above it. Finally it ran out of moves and used flail and fainted. I always hate Umbreons if I'm not the one using it ><. The rest of her team was okay, but somehow her Murkrow got a critical hit on my Ziggy (meganium) and made him faint. Boy I was pissed and from there on it was like me and my 5 other pokes became one and went super saiyan on the rest of her pokemon. This all happened like 15 minutes ago btw.

Lance was alright, his aerodactyl and gyarados gave me the run for my money though. W/ Gyarados kept getting first hits in and my frosslass was low in hp after the first 2 thunderbolts didn't kill it. But I prevailed! Surprisingly I KOed his Dragonites w/ one hit of ice beam. Man....the elite four in SS/HG seem to be a lot tougher than in DPPt. Even though in sinnoh the elite four is higher leveled, I breezed through them literally without problems.

Gamefreaked March 26th, 2010 5:03 PM

I remember some psychic, dont remember where or who, but he was annoying as hell. Had like two abras and a kadabra that all used flash to lower your accuracy to the bear minimum. Sucked so bad, couldn't land a hit and those confusions were killing me slowly.

Air Pichu March 26th, 2010 5:31 PM

Red -_-

Srsly the guy has all the Kanto starters, a Lapras, a Snorlax, and a Pikachu that OHKO'd my Typhlosion
I've battled him and I have yet to beat him in the game

That's be the one outside the National Park and near where Sudowoodo is, methinks. I remember that flash attack from him well from the GSC days, heh.

For me, I haven't played much (got further in my monotype rom playthroughs while waiting for the english version, heh, which gets one up to beating the third gym before the freezes really kick in), but in those challenges, the hardest for me would be Falkner and Bugsy for my Grass-type playthroughs - ended up poisoning early and then stalling desperately with Bugsy's Scyther in particular, heh. But the hardest may have been my rival's 2nd battle actually with my water-type team - someone already mentioned it, but try it with a Totodile, Wooper and Slowpoke. D= Reflect basically meant I could only do laughable damage and Synthesis was annoying. Until it ran out of PP for it at least, heh. But that was a long battle.

Nothing with my actual game yet though - trading over the Johto Starters + Larvitar helps I suppose. =P Only up to Bugsy though...

Gulpin March 26th, 2010 6:23 PM

Well, Red wasn't as much trouble as I expected.

Omg I know, Lance is sooo much harder on the second run, took me so long to take down his Garchomp.

Hardest for me is definitely Red, faced him 4 times now, spent over 90,000 on revives and full restores and etc. to defeat him, still hasn't worked. :(

MegaSlowBro. March 26th, 2010 6:37 PM

As of now, the trainer in Chuck's gym. His Hitmonchan kept on ko'ing every single pokemon

MissCongeniality March 26th, 2010 6:43 PM

It depended mostly, I was only defeated by Red once but I KO'ed his team in one shot the second time around.

KO'ed by most Gym Leaders, but I eventually beat them the second-fourth time around, Kanto however...I eliminated all of them in one shot. ^^

What levels are your pokemon for lance and for red? For me they weren't too hard. If you are having trouble finding a good way to level your team up, go here: http://www.serebii.net/heartgoldsoulsilver/gym-rematch.shtml and reset the clock on your DS to the appropriet times and dates to get the phone numbers and time and dates to rematch the certain leader. Look around to find a leader that each individual Pokemon can defeat without any help (eg. Bellossom - Brock, Typhlosion - Erika, etc.) and they will rack in 11,000-15,000 experience (depending on the leader) each rematch. I got my whole team from level 61 to 70 in one day without spending all 24 hours playing.

jedisrule March 26th, 2010 7:37 PM

Oh omg didn't realize there was a specific time to find them, just thought they were their, that would explain it. And yah, I am kinda a 1-2 pokemon at a time focuser (I crazy build up only 1-2 for most of the game, so the rest are fairly weak until I start training them after I beat the pokemon league) so I have my highest as a level 74 and a 73, second highest is a lvl 44 (huge difference lol). Ty for the help though.

ComedyQuest March 27th, 2010 7:11 AM

Whitney and Red give me the most trouble. Fear the Miltank of doom... XD

Porygonz March 27th, 2010 7:11 AM

red was pretty tough. i just barely beat him

Kikaito plush March 27th, 2010 7:20 AM

Since I have only beaten whitany's gym in SS. it was my rival Silver after clearing slowpoke well..

ILoveDragonite March 28th, 2010 3:42 PM

I don't think i have had one i almost lost, i like to grind my pokemon to ridiculously high levels before i attack a leader.

I made a little rule for myself after i beat the gym my ace pokemon (Sunny/Dragonite) Has to be 10 levels higher than the last leaders ace.

And my back ups (Roller/Donphan,Ruby/Arcanine,Tidal, Feraligatr.) Have to be 5 levels higher than the last leaders ace.

Audaciity April 4th, 2010 8:37 PM

With regard to gym leaders, I had the most trouble with the Thunder leader; his Electrodes kept using horrible moves like Light Screen and Double Team.

Master Kavar April 4th, 2010 8:45 PM

I cant beleive i got stuck on cianwood city Gym leader Chuck but his poliwrath was SOOOO anoying i could not beat it

Ninja Caterpie April 4th, 2010 9:15 PM

The whole bloody Elite Four. >_> I'm grinding my Pokemon now.

Why did I have to use six Pokemon?!

DXrobots April 4th, 2010 9:19 PM

Bugy's scyther swept me a couple of times, and Chuck I felt was a challenge other then that I haven't had any trouble yet

Yusshin April 4th, 2010 9:21 PM

I haven't had any problems with trainers or leaders. I was always severely over-leveled, such as 45-47 with Claire for all six unevolved Pokemon, and even under the unevolved circumstance, I creamed everyone :s

I'm concerned for Kanto, though, since their levels do a 10-level jump. That's why I'm almost done grinding to 50 before doing the Elite Four, since their cap is 50, and it jumps to 55-65 in Kanto.

>Feelings< April 4th, 2010 11:21 PM

I am doing a starter solo run this game, which means I was planning not to use anything except my starter.
I don't use healing items or anything else to help either, so it's even more tougher than a solo run.

Since my starter was Cyndaquil, I had a lot of trouble with Chuck's Poliwrath.
But I had the most trouble with Clair, specially with her Kingdra who could ko my Typhlosion in one or two hits at max, specially since I wasn't using any item including healing items.
That was so annoying that I decided to finally use my Red Gyarados too alongside Typhlosion. Gyarados finished Kingdra for me with Dragon Rage, and Typhlosion did the rest with relative ease.

Ninja Caterpie April 5th, 2010 4:11 PM

WOW. I BEAT IT.

Who's saying Lance is tough? Three Dragonites makes him so easy. They're all weak to the same thing and they all have the same stats. =|

I took out his Gyarados with something, then I swept his whole team with a Dragon Dance Gyarados and Ice Fang + Waterfall.

Dr Glocktor April 5th, 2010 4:34 PM

Morty.

Oh sweet lord in Heaven, MORTY.

I had to retry 4 different times on him; all because his Gengars cheapassery wit Hypnosis and dream eater.

Muffin™ April 5th, 2010 5:27 PM

Lance.

'Nuff said.

Well of course I'm going to write 25 characters!

Drift_King1 April 5th, 2010 5:28 PM

Only Whitney's Miltank gave me a problem in this game.

Kirbychu April 5th, 2010 5:47 PM

It took me about 4 tries to beat Falkner. :/

The rest of the game was a breeze. I even beat Red with my team of mid 50s.

bobbob620 April 5th, 2010 6:38 PM

It took me 2 hours to beat falkner, even with a geodude

other than that, no problems:)

Yusshin April 5th, 2010 6:52 PM

I just beat the Elite Four, and my Dratini Level 55 pretty much OHKO'd everything on his team :s so I still haven't met a decent match of a trainer yet.

lusterclaw April 5th, 2010 7:23 PM

i had heeps of trouble with red at mount silver

loliwin April 5th, 2010 7:24 PM

Definitely the Psychic that had that Drowzee that kept hypnotizing and dream eating me on Route 37.

GamerXtreme April 6th, 2010 6:39 PM

I'd say Bugsy gave my team hell... damn you, Scyter, DAMN YOU, I SAY!

chezhead April 6th, 2010 6:50 PM

Not any in particular YET, I beat all the gyms and am not even attempting the E4.

Maybe Whittey, Pidgiotto is weak against that rollout.

Never had trouble with my rival, as I had a really strong pidgiotto that just wooped all of his pokemon.

Your Toughest Battle Up to Date?

Hey Everyone Let's Talk About our hardest fights , and how we managed to pull it off !

Mine is the Sprout Tower Elder , since I do monotype water run and I have a wooper ... it was pretty hard but i took out his 2 bellsprouts by surviving the first one's vine whip then using mud shot which slowed it and then mud shot again (this time I striked first) to finish it. The second one I did same thing but it used growth so it was easier. Hoot-Hoot Took about 5 minutes , he'd put me to sleep and i used water gun until i had 5 hp left then use potion and i got rid of it.

Please, change your font, it's blinding.

I think this thread's still active somewhere??

Anyway, for me it was Morty, my Poliwhirl, ending the battle at lv.30, only won through a Hypnosis+Rain Dance+Bubblebeam combination, and sacrificing Vui, my Eevee, who was meant to be staying alive for happiness points

jmd34 April 18th, 2010 10:05 AM

I tried searching for it but couldn't find it and still , its not active , bumping it wouldn't have lead to nothing. I hope This won't get locked :s

Pazuru April 18th, 2010 10:06 AM

@ezio: font I had to highlight because of the PC theme I'm on. XD;

Anyways, my hardest would definitely have to be Lance second time. Stupid him and his Garchomp. ;^; I didn't want to lose and go all the way back, so I restarted a few times before I finally took the darned thing down without my Feraligatr died (as it hasn't died with me saving at all yet) and defeated him.

cookie_lovr April 18th, 2010 10:46 AM

Elite Four on my first try. I only trained 1 pokemon really, Meganium (not a monotype challenge though since I had mules to sac in for gyms (":)

I only got up to poison and Body Slam didn't do much damage anymore T_T.

jmd34 April 18th, 2010 11:09 AM

Yeah Lol I suggest on getting another pokemon and train it to level 45 maybe you'll succede

Moltres111 April 18th, 2010 11:46 AM

Lt. Surge.

Lyra happily arrives in Vermilion City, enjoying the nice, calm music. Then she enters the gym. She battles all the trainers, then she goes out to heal and comes back. She finally gets the switch thing right and is able to battle Lt. Surge.

However, she did not except his first pokemon to be a level 51 Raichu with Thunder Wave and Double Team.
Just that one pokemon alone pretty much spelled GG for her, but she fought and fought until all his pokemon were down.

Lyra is now training in the Pokemon league, which she is sweeping KINDA easily.. except she's having some problems with Bruno. >_<

toolfreak32 April 18th, 2010 11:56 AM

the elite 4

the first time i tried i failed miserabley becauise my pokes wernt tough enough

Astrotastic:D April 18th, 2010 12:14 PM

hmmm probably lance!
i was stupid and wanted to beat the elete four on my first try...
so all of my pokemon were in their lower 40's and one was still lv 39...
it took me FOREVER to do it! i had to save in front of him and keep doing it over and over and over again!
but eventually i had a super strategy worked up and i beat the sucka up! :D

EJ April 18th, 2010 12:31 PM

In my current playthrough, there's really only been Morty and Gengar. His shadow ball was raping my team until I switched in Vileplume to send it to sleep and then I switched in Cranidos to finish it off with "pursuit".

jmd34 April 18th, 2010 12:39 PM

Lol astro I had 4 level 42growlithe/43ampharos/44feraligatr/45 lugia and ursaring 33 and dragonair 35 and I beat the E4 on first try :p

masterlink April 18th, 2010 12:41 PM

mine was with chuck damn poliwrath i was going for a solo typhlosion i managed through! after alot of deaths

Tears In The Rain April 18th, 2010 1:00 PM

None so far actually. Maybe Bugsy, his damn syther actually knocked out my pidgeotto and the use of the super potion was annoying(and he had sent it out FIRST, eff you man! Not that his other two pokemon can be considered a REAL battle :P). Thankfully I had flaffy as a backup bug zapper and she did it.

-Jake April 18th, 2010 1:07 PM

My hardest battle was with Morty because he kept KOing my strongest Pokemon. >.>
But my Togepi ended up killing Gengar. It was awesome.

Kon~ April 18th, 2010 1:39 PM

So far, Lance. I ended up with only Feraligatr still alive, 11HP left, 2PP on Ice Fang, Paralysed and his final Dragonite with only enough HP left that an Ice Fang would defeat it.

I check my bag. No revives left. No Hyper potions left. I look at my PP. I sigh. I take a deep breath. I pick Ice Fang.

By the way, did I mention that my Feraligatr had a Quick Claw? Yeah, that came into effect, he managed to bypass the effects of Paraysis and get one final Ice Fang on that bad boy and lead me to victory!

Lt_Nite April 18th, 2010 1:41 PM

Sabrina, she just kept spamming psychic at me and destroying my pokes, took me like 6 tries to beat her.

umbreon_4_life April 18th, 2010 1:49 PM

HeartGold: Bugsy!!! I chose Chikorita, so it was a pretty rough battle... But I managed to defeat him with... my Golbat I think.

SoulSilver: LANCE! Most definitely! It only took me two tries, but it was a serious challenge!!!

Emilio~ April 18th, 2010 1:58 PM

Lance was the thoughest trainer of them all for me :O Still, I managed to defeat him without restarting the game, thanks to some revives :'P
All of his pokemon were hard to defeat, especially the Aerodactyl. But I was glad that he was such a hard challenge, makes the victory even more sweet =)

RemEngel April 18th, 2010 2:18 PM

So far, I'd have to say the double-battle against Lance and Clair with the rival. My team is rather under-leveled, so I was mostly relying on my rival to actually damage them while I used mostly stats-reducing moves. xD; So embarrassing...

Guy April 18th, 2010 2:51 PM

Merging the thread here with one we already have going to talk about one's toughest battle against any trainer, Gym Leader, Elite Member, etc. Seems decent enough to just merge rather than close with the considerate activity it has had so far.

I think my toughest battle to date would be against the Kimono Girls. Challenging each of them without breaks like before made the battle all the more difficult. They ended up bringing me to my last Pokémon with a type disadvantage, so I thought I had lost it all. Luckily, I pulled it through with a strong enough Ice Shard to take down Vaporeon at the end and won the battle.

cheychey41 April 18th, 2010 3:08 PM

Karen from the Elite 4! Her houndoom was wicked tough to beat! Lance and Claire wer also trickey to beat

Esmas April 18th, 2010 3:33 PM

I had the most trouble with Karen, specifically her Houndoom...
