Lance and Bugsy :(

but i beat them both in the end :P

~Gary~ April 21st, 2010 12:24 AM

I had no problems with any trainers.....

Uruk April 21st, 2010 1:05 PM

lance was a real pain. especially with typhlosion :D but red was quite easy. i beat him with only typhlosion, gyarados and magneton.

No one yet and I don't think I will for a while, if ever. I am the kind of maniac that painstakingly trains and levels all my Pokemon [fairly and legit]. Formula is .. starter Pokemon at least +10 levels above current badge that I'm on, party Pokemon 10 levels below that, and everyone [and I mean everyone] else at the very least 20 levels below that.

SuperStaraptor April 21st, 2010 2:37 PM

Ive only just cleared Team Rocket from the Radio Tower but so far my toughest trainer would have to be Whitney and her Miltank.. took me three tries before finaly defeating her.

M O M U S U April 22nd, 2010 5:54 PM

Lance. He has three flippin' Dragonites, and it seems like an infinite number of healing items, full restores, hyper potions, whatever.

And as far as random trainers go, anyone with a Pokemon that knows hypnosis, confuse ray, smog, etc. I HATE status inflicting attacks.

Timbjerr April 22nd, 2010 6:14 PM

At my current point in the game (between Clair and the E4), the most problematic trainer I've fought was Pryce and his Rest/Sleep Talking Dewgong. >_<

Took me three attempts and evolving my Flaaffy in order to beat that thing. >_<

zommy08 April 23rd, 2010 10:42 AM

Sabrina. I won plainly on items, luck and priority moves (mainly, Sucker Punch).
Second is Lance. I tried about 6 times (my Pokémon were about Lv. 39 :)). The only way I outsped the two Lv. 49 Dragonites was with a Choice Scarf. I won with only my Tentacruel hitting Aerodactyl critically with Surf with its HP in yellow. o_o

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 10:59 AM

So far, Falkner.
Screw him and his damn Gust >:( It makes my bug type team sad.

WiiMann April 23rd, 2010 11:00 AM

Out of all the battles i have had on Heart Gold i only failed to Silver ^_^........but Lance was the second most challenging

TrilbyMenetti April 23rd, 2010 11:05 AM

Youngster Joey. He and his top percentage Rattata are extremely difficult, particularly early on. (I'm joking, in case you can't tell :D).

Being more serious, I suprisingly had trouble with Bugsy, the Kimono Girls and Lt. Surge and predictably Clair. Bugsy's Scyther has become an irritating threat now and was responsible for taking three gos against him (almost won the second time, but the AI lucked out). Lt. Surge seemed a bit more difficult than before, so I had to battle Brock and Misty beforehand and Clair was a tad irritating, particularly with Gyrados and Kingdra.

I didn't have trouble with Whitney this time like I did in Gold years back (although Milk Drink and Attract were annoying), Morty was easy and so was the Rival.

Pokestick, good times. April 23rd, 2010 11:24 AM

Lance. I usually create problems for myself, because I find it more fun with hrd battles, but his Dragonites were so damn beast... I didn't white out tho :D

Then (not in any particular order); Jasmine (overleveled Steelix FTW), The trainers in the deeper part of Union Cave (I went there first thing after I got the Ekruteak Badge... ^_^;), Lt. Surge (completely underestimated him; Then I overestimated all the other Kanto Leaders XD), and some more...

I've never lost once, tho :D

(except for my first Bug Catching Contest... Darn Pinsir ヽ(o`皿′o)ノ... But that didn't count <_< = >_>)

Lt. Surge was a pain to beat. My Pokemon were either a flying type, a water type or both. His Pokemon were also in a higher level as my Pokemon.

chicanery April 23rd, 2010 5:35 PM

most of the gym leaders were a breeze for me, but Pryce and the rocket exec Archer were a bit of a pain... 'cause i was underleveled ;x; that Houndoom seemed so strong until i used Surf on 'im :|a then again, i have stronger trainers ahead.

Comrade Nikita Ivanova April 23rd, 2010 5:46 PM

That one Kimono Girl with the Espeon was a real pain for me. Most of my pokemon are poison type, so it's understandable, but it just kept using psychic over and over! D:

rakiboi April 23rd, 2010 5:46 PM

Clair almost ko'ed my whole team with kindra, beat her with my crobat. and the double battle with the beautys

Celest8 April 23rd, 2010 5:55 PM

LANCE.

Betcha didn't see that one coming. xD But yes, three Dragonites = RAPE. I have never used so many items and made so many desperate last-resort moves in one battle before.

I also had trouble with Clair's Kingdra, and being underleveled did not help at all.

And lastly, Lt. Surge. Which is as far as I've gotten at this point. If he's that annoying, then I'm honestly scared to see what the rest of the Kanto gym leaders are like. o.o; It's my own fault though. I'm too lazy to stop and train my Pokemon. =/

Whitney was actually harder in gen 2, if I remember it right...
But Miltank's moveset is really beast... I still find her rematches challenging.

ComedyQuest April 24th, 2010 11:47 AM

Umm, wow. I haven't seen many people say Whitney and her Miltank were difficult. But that is definitely the hardest battle I ever endured. I even had an easier time with Red.

Jack Kentnon April 24th, 2010 12:37 PM

The only trainer I have had trouble with was Jasmine. I was hopeing I would be able to trick her in to useing Sunnyday, in order to Fire Punch, then win, just like in G/S/C. But That never happened. Insted, she OHKO'd the Totodile I was useing, and then sweped my team afterwords. Round two however, I Magmared to my fullest, with a few potions, and won.

MistahDude April 24th, 2010 8:59 PM

I had a lot of trouble with Bugsy. His Scyther was very troubling to beat. This Scyther was faster than any of my pokemon, and could 2HKO any of them, and my pokemon were higher level!
