Have you seen any wierd names in this game such as in cianwood city there is somebody called Black Belt Nob.

carter756978 March 30th, 2010 8:55 AM

.тαмєя March 30th, 2010 8:56 AM

Yeah, but its funny ^^

And yeah I found Black Belt Nob And Dragon Tamer Nob ;)
Found It Hilarious!

Pikachu-dance! March 30th, 2010 10:14 PM

Duff was another that made me lol

RTHookers March 30th, 2010 10:27 PM

I remember a trainer in Violet gym called Rod, wtf is he doing there. Go to a water gym.

bobandbill March 31st, 2010 1:51 AM

Actually I see this applying to all sorts of games - as it's not like HGSS is full of a million strange names. =P So going to move this to poke general gaming in a sec.

But Nob has nothing on the people in the region of Orre. I raise you a Skrub, Doken, heck even Miror B.! Now there you have strange names for trainers!

Pikachu-dance! March 31st, 2010 8:27 AM

Thanks for moving the thread.:)

I would not want to be called skrub if somebody in real life was called skrub they would be seriously picked on... But anyway that ones funny:laugh:

Zebeedoo March 31st, 2010 8:55 AM

Phaha! Yeah, I remember seeing Nob's name and thinking "What the fudge? Is Nob even a name?" and thought of a door straight away. xD I can't recall if I've seen any other weird names though. =P

Sydian March 31st, 2010 1:00 PM

Colosseum and XD have the worst names of all time. I'd list some, but they're just so odd that I forget. The few normal names I recall are Sash (might be Sosh, not sure), Lilly, Ein (since it's just pronounced like Ian), and...that's it. lol Naps is also a bad name.

Elite Overlord LeSabre™ March 31st, 2010 7:05 PM

My (least) favorite from XD is Cooltrainer Gorps. Then there's a guy named Tock in Colosseum. And before Vice President Biden there was Team Snagem Biden XD

But for some reason I love saying the name "Gonzap."

Pikachu-dance! March 31st, 2010 10:41 PM

Ha! Tocks a funny name Haswami is another funny one i saw on one of the games i cant remember which one.

FinalMaster April 1st, 2010 6:43 PM

It's only in context, really, but I present to you...

Roughneck Kirby.

Also, he uses a Cleffa.

Sydian April 1st, 2010 7:02 PM

Okay, I'm looking at a list of some people from Colosseum. One name I always hated was Ferma. It just...doesn't sound right, plus if I recall, the trainer is female. Hint hint. Also, there is a Cipher Peon named Cole. Probably the most normal name in the entire game, even more normal than the player. Liaks, Agnol, and Divel are kinda...weird too.

Cipher Peon Cole is realy funny if you just said Peon Cole people would think your saying pee on cole.

Luck April 2nd, 2010 7:26 AM

The names aren't weird, but on Route 40 there are trainers Simon, Paula, and Randall. :/

The weirdest name I saw was Black Belt Lung.

Pikachu-dance! April 7th, 2010 4:50 AM

I would not want to be named after a part of my body...

EDIT: I just saw a person called Tanner which made me lol

Few things about your post, Sydian .
First, I quoted because of Ferma . In romanian, Ferma means "the Farm" . Oddiest than anything in the world . Is the girl actually a farmer ? I never played Colloseum .
Then, reading further ... Liaks, Agnol ... where do those people live (the ones that made up the names ? o_O

There is also a Hiker Nob in FRLG by Bill's Cottage . o.o Pretty popular, yes ?

Gym Leader names are also unproper . I mean, Brock-Rock and that;s plain boring . I believe Koga also come from Koffing or something . Gardenia-Garden and Brawly-Brawl are quite uninspired too .

Destiny Bond April 8th, 2010 3:41 AM

Yes, Ferma ! 0_o

Imagine her mother : "Let's go work, Ferma !" - "Let's go work the farm !" oo_))
I've also noticed that main charcter names are uninspired as well : Eusine = Suicune = What he does ... was he born to do that or what ?

Oh yeah ... About Gym Leaders . Morty comes from me as "moarte" which means "death" in Romanian . But I've also seen a normal trainer named Morty, if memory doesn't deceive me ...

*Yeah i noticed that the other day too.
**Thats really cool how do you know that?

Yusshin April 9th, 2010 2:04 AM

Morty isn't only Romanian.

It may also derive from the language that the Japanese jizz over all the time: French.

"Mort" is the noun meaning "death" in French. "Morticien" is a mortician in English; would it not be even more logical that the Japanese, adoring French to the point that they made their own Eiffel Tower in Tokyo, would derive it from French rather than Romanian?

"Muerta" is also death in Spanish, although the French makes more logical sense.

Also, "nob" is a name we call someone (in Canada, at least) who's klutzy or just plain stupid. It comes from "doorknob", which for some reason = stupid.

Hrm.

Uecil April 9th, 2010 3:54 AM
