Most useless abilities?

What is the most useless pokemon ability in a battle you can think of? My top 10 are

1.Klutz

2.slow start

3.Stench

4.Dry skin

5.Gluttony

6.Truant

7.Stall

8.Forecast

9.Sound proof

10.Sticky

Yusshin April 4th, 2010 7:23 PM

I like Sound Proof; it's useful after Mean Look'ing Entei / Raikou.

Stench is probably the most useless, yes. I prefer using a Smoky Ball or whatever it's called.

Master Kavar April 4th, 2010 7:25 PM

kultz its crap but i think this post should be in pokemon gaming

.hack April 4th, 2010 7:25 PM

Sturdy. Whenever I use a pokemon with Sturdy no one ever uses a 1HKO move...

Ninja Caterpie April 4th, 2010 7:29 PM

Klutz is BRILLIANT!

You get a Lopunny and give it a Flame Orb or Toxic Orb or something.

It doesn't get affected, but when you switcheroo, bam, instant status.

Sam_Sam April 4th, 2010 7:29 PM

Dry SKin is pretty useful - it + absorb to water

^.hydro April 4th, 2010 7:30 PM

SLow Start + Trick Room = Awsome

Adri-chan April 4th, 2010 7:31 PM

Run Away. Absolutely useless in competitive play. Same goes for Stench.

MrGhost April 4th, 2010 7:33 PM

Probably Rock head, my sudowoodo had it and the only recoil move I had double edge, and only for a bit. And even then, it was pretty useless.

Xebelleon April 4th, 2010 7:40 PM

Water Veil.

It's almost like Jump Kick.
Makes Pokemon fans go what?

bobandbill April 4th, 2010 7:45 PM

Moved this thread here, as it doesnt just have to apply to HGSS

Hi Sydian.

Sydian April 4th, 2010 7:47 PM

Hey sexy bby boo<33

Um. Gonna have to say Traunt. I ain't found no use for it yet. Run Away ain't too great either, at least not in competitive play.

loliwin April 4th, 2010 7:52 PM

Slow start. Not that good at all. You have to wait about 6 turns before the Pokemon can pull off it's awesomeness.

Timbjerr April 4th, 2010 7:54 PM

Inner Focus.

Seriously, most of the pokemon that have it are speedy enough to reliably never flinch anyways or have a significantly better alternate ability. >_>

Those that are really useless there are Slow Start, Truant, Stall and Stench.

For all the 6 other, they are all usefull in competitive battle.
Klutz is perfect to switch to when you know the other will use Trick;
Dry Skin is perfect in rain team and good if you can predict the opponent water move;
Gluttony is really good when you want to use berry that raise stats;
Forecast is perfect to enrage the opponent by changing the form and type;
Soundproof is really really usefull on Baton Pass team to counter Roar;
Sticky is nice to trap Choice Trick user into his move Trick.

Other ability that is useless are Run away and Illuminate, you can't do much thing with that :S

BHwolfgang April 4th, 2010 8:16 PM

Having a Croagunk or Toxicroak with Dry Skin would not look good for you if your opponent is using a Fire-type Pokemon.

Lightningrod is practically a useless move, since most of the Pokemons who has the ability can already neutralize Electric-type attacks from their elemental type.

I also agree that Illuminate is a crappy ability, there are better ways of finding Pokemons. Honey Gather is also usless, unless if one is hoping for free Honeys.

Lightningrod is really useful in double battle.
Pair with a water or flying pokemon and you are on a victory.

In my experience, it is Pressure, as it never seems to do anything.

Pressure is great :s If someone wants to spam Extreme Speed or something, they can only use it two or three times instead of five, assuming they haven't PP Up'd Extreme Speed.

Audaciity April 4th, 2010 9:05 PM

Actually, having looked up what Pressure actually does, I now like it.

Ninja Caterpie April 4th, 2010 9:07 PM

Truant and Sturdy are imo the useless ones. Truant actually doesn't do anything and Sturdy... generally, nothing's gonna OHKO move you.

DXrobots April 4th, 2010 9:17 PM

Forewarn I've seen as stupid. Klutz, Magnet pull (Especially in fire red/leaf green), Stench, run away, Damp I never understood is it the opponent that needs to blowup? Anticipation, Color change More of a novelty its screwed me over a couple of times, Gluttony, Honey gather another novelty, Illuminate, Mold breaker another one I don't understand, Wonder guard novelty can be useful I mean its only got one user.

EXTREMELY USELESS:
I swear you cant beat this one for uselessness
Plus - Plusle
Minus - Minun
I mean, come on, they only work if youre fighting a Minun or Plusle (respectively)
