In-game flying Pokemon reccomendations

What do you guys suggest for an in-game Pokemon to learn fly?

By in-game, I mean specifically something that I can get fairly soon without trading (I'm at Cianwood at the moment), is not a legendary (I prefer building my own teams), and is not a Normal/Flying type.

I've considered Xatu (stats seem kinda low) and Crobat (but I don't really want to have multiple poison types), just wondering what else people like. I have Soul Silver, btw.

P.S. I know Dragonite is an option, but it'll be a long time before my PKMN will get to level 55, and I'd like to fly around fairly soon....Ideally I could an Aerodactyl, but that's not happening...

Xatu is great; I usually use Xatu or Pidgeot :)

I suggest you use Hoothoot, who later evolves into Noctowl. I did this, and, later in the game (I think at about Lv 58), I simply rejected him for the stronger Pokemon Ho-Oh. With Noctowl, you can either have hypnosis and the corresponding moves, or you can go for a broadened moveset for casual play, like I did. In the end, my Noctowl knew Psychic, Roost, Fly and Psycho Shift. Psycho Shift, in particular, proved Noctowl a very worthwhile Pokemon. Soul Silver is my game, by the way, so the Ho-Oh was Lv 70 when I caught it.

Good luck!

Pidgeots are fine, but they don't really learn good moves until later on.
And those are only decent.

you could get a hootoot. It starts out as a normal, then when it evolves into a noctowl, its a psychic/flying type

^Noctowl stays as Normal-Flying (and is one as a Hoothoot) I'm pretty sure - it just gets some psychic type moves.

Technically, Pikachu can learn Fly - there's a wifi event out which unlocks a Pokewalker course which has Pikachu in it...walk over 10000 steps in a day and you have a chance to catch one which knows Fly!

Anyways, there's some Pokemon to consider, so try those out. Basically anything that can learn Fly will do well though.

Seeing team help threads aren't really allowed, thread closed.
