Worst Pokémon Game you've ever played?
As the title says, what was the worst Pokémon Game you've ever played? Personally, I hate Sinnoh, so the worst Pokémon game I've ever played was Pearl. :)
|
UGH! I don't wanna start any heated arguments but I don't really like the S/R/E games. I just hate the Heonn reigon!
|
@Curious:
You were so fast I couldn't even finish my poll! |
Emerald i couldnt stand it
|
None of the above. ^__^ They are all amazing.

Yeah, this doesn't belong here. As it's about games, General Pokemon Gaming seems a lot more fitting.
|
I hated the Hoenn Region. The designs of the Pokemon were all crappy.
But the actual worse game i played related to Pokemon would have to have been Tronzei |

|
FireRed and LeafGreen. They just felt really weird for me.
|
Hoenn and Sinnoh. Hoenn was just a terrible region, and Sinnoh was repetitive :s with a crappy evil team.
|
None of them. well, I never actually played red/blue/yellow (or Hg/ss, will soon and know I'll love them). I really love all the games I played though.
|

You can all kill me for this, but Yellow. Yup. I said it. You were followed everywhere by an annoying yellow rat who electrocuted you when he was pissy, plus the starters, which were meant to be unique and amazing an' all that, were just handed to you by a bunch of strangers. Sure, it was based on the anime, but let's face it... Ash was a doofus. And his 'special' game was just R/B with added annoying.
|
Sinnoh Pokémon sucked.
I liked the originals from Kanto and Johto better. Hoenn also sucked, a little. But not like Sinnoh. ._. |
Diamond. Reason being is that the battles were super slow. You had to wait about half a second for each move, then you have to wait like 30 seconds for the HP to drop, also the region is boring in general.
I liked Heonn. Emerald IMO is the best GBA Pokemon Game. |
I really couldn't stand Diamond or Pearl. Thank goodness that they fixed most of the problems.
To be honest, I really liked playing Emerald. It provided me with some entertainment while bored. |
Hoenn >>> Sinnoh IMO
I actually liked RSE's storyline involving Aqua/Magma...it didn't seem as contrived and out-of-place as Galactic's storyline. The legendaries were more interesting, and the landscape was overall more varied and interesting as well. So, yeah, Pearl was my least favorite Pokemon game (which doesn't say much because I was just playing it no more than five minutes ago. XD) |
Defiantly Diamond...it's just awful
|
Blue cuz theres no Growlithe:) Plus.... Infact Gen.1 games suck*Not yellow, yellow rocks*
|
Sinnoh sucked. Hoenn was okay, but Johto and Kanto were epic.
I really wasn't expecting much from HG/SS after my Pearl experience, so it was surprising. Mind you, Johto is my favourite generation. |

Hate the hoenn region
emerald |
Uhhh...Diamond.
Slow.Piece.Of.Crap. Platinum's slightly better, but still I only really like are (in this order): SoulSilver LeafGreen Emerald (my first game, but I cba to play right through, especially now I can get the legends on other games, and most of my favourite Hoenn pokemon (Still trying to figure out how to get a Trapinch, and a reliable source for Bagons). Ranger-only spin-off I own, and I hate how only Manaphy was transferrable (I think you should just have to re-enter the code and defeat the whole game). |
I'm gonna go with Diamond. I was on hiatus after R/S and came back starting with Diamond. I liked the graphics more though, even if the story (and the pokemon) sucked.
|
Ruby, had nothing that the other games didn't do and do better.
|
I love all the main games, actually. I hate PBR and Ranger, though. You left out spin offs. ):
|
th eonly one i've ever played that i didn't like was yellow. the way pikachu was constantly coming up on the screen to tell me how he felt was a little strange. But i agree that R/S/E were bad. I hated the regions and the way the pokemon looked. plus, the coloring of the game was kind of hard to look at. :p
|
Sorry to say this but it was Blue version for me. I took a step back in time from the 3rd generation to the 1st generation. Thay why I also think FR/LG are better than RB
|
i wasnt too fond of yellow, only advantage it had over red+blue is that all 3 starters were available.
|
You should add Pokemon battle revolution, it's the worst game I've ever played!
|
So much Sinnoh hate.....I liked it.
I hated Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, since I thought the gameplay felt.....listless, and I hated the Hoenn region. It just didn't feel like Pokemon to me. |
I have to say pearl =/
I wouldn't call it bad but the other games are certainly better. |
Yellow was the worst, being stuck with a weak, good-for-nothing starter that couldn't even evolve unless you traded it to another game... (and you can't use the Light Ball argument because it didn't exist in 1st gen and it doesn't help out dismal defenses or Pikachu's fugly face either).
Sapphire was second worst, with Emerald being a bit better. I can't put my finger on it but there was something about Hoenn that was just... dull and bland. I've never played the spin-offs, though I would imagine PMD would top the list of my most hated games if I were ever fooled into playing it. |
R/S/E made me vomit. i didnt even get past the pokemon league before i quit. sorry but i just hated it. most of those new hoen pokemon didnt evevn seem like pokemon.
|
Tied between Coliseum and Battle Revolution.
|
I can't agree with most people here saying Hoenn Pokémon wouldn't look very good. There are many Pokémon from Sinnoh which look like some 3 year old kid drew them! :(
|
Well, all of them were good, but the one that didn't really give me the "pokemon feeling" was Diamond....It just felt too different, and I wanted to feel the same as I did when I first played silver...ah, I can't wait to get SS!!! =D
|
Yellow. Kanto is bland (Although not as poorly designed as Johto), the pokemon were all stupid and uncreative (Looking at you, Gastly, Haunter, Krabby, Seel, Koffing, Magnamite and Magnaton, ect.), most of them were balls or snakes, and the added features of Yellow all made it WORSE than RBY (Except, some would argue, the ability to get all the starters, but that's just Nintendo giving a reason to buy the game)
|
As much as I dislike the whole Sinnoh region, I'd have to say Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.
I did not like the overworld sprites, the storyline, Team Magma was ugly, a lot of the maps and things looked bad (Lavaridge), the tiles seemed like they were too bright and had too much contrast (the trees annoyed me the most.) I do think some really good Pokemon came out of these, but not enough to matter. |
This is just the main series? I'm not sure. Was never fan of Ruby/Sapphire, but to me, Diamond/Pearl didn't do much to improve it either. :/ Also, Hey You Pikachu, worst pokemon game ever!
|
With the main series... Probably Yellow. It just wasn't anything special to me. I love the concept of Pokemon following you (it's a HUGE reason why I love SoulSilver so much), but only having Pikachu following you was boring. It was kind of weird how the starters are just handed to you... It kinda defeats the purpose of playing with your friends and makes "catching 'em all" pretty easy. And Jessie and James being in there was just weird. I was pretty indifferent about that.
If you're counting spinoffs, then definitely Ranger. I tried to play it. I lasted about ten minutes before turning off without saving. Sorry to anyone who likes it, but I thought that it was just stupid. |
The ones that are black and white... Terrible
|
Am I the only person who actually liked RSE and Yellow? ;_;
Sinnoh, a region where pool toys Pokemon happily reside in forests, lakes, and dimensional rifts. A land who's people worship their robo-dragon overlords who govern time, space, antimatter, and the entire universe. A wonderful place where a group of blue-haired psychopaths desperately try to destroy recreate the universe. Never pulled me in. I prefer simpler Pokemon games. :/ |
Emerald. I hated the Hoenn region, and Emerald is the only version in the entire series that I didn't even bother to finish, because I disliked it that much.
|
i dont like the gba graphics. so ruby
Quote:
im hoping for a remake of rse, coz if it had nicer graphics and day and night, it will b an awesome game! |
Probably Pokemon Rumble, worst game I have ever played, tottally tarnished the Pokemon image.
|
Well yea RSE are the worst games of pokémon (in my opinion) i hate that region
|
Diamond/Pearl.
They just weren't fun at all. It's the quickest I've gone through a pokemon game, and the most dissapointed I've been at the end. Thank god platinum was a bit better. And I dunno why everyone hated R/S/E... I had a great time playing through them, though I admit, going back to play them now they feel a bit stale... |
Diamond and Pearl. It wasn't all that great of a game and was quite boring. I'm not saying that it was the worst in existence, but I believe there were other games that were better overall.
|
One game I dislike is Yellow. :\ Well, I dont dislike it, I just don't think it's as it could have been. Take Crystal for example, it gave you animations, a female character (which is now in every game), the Battle Tower (which later led to the Battle Frontier) and more! yellow gave you a Pokemon which couldn't evolve and followed you everywhere (although this did lead to the 'Pokemon following you' feature in HG/SS.) So yeah, Yellow was quite cool, but not the best. Sure, I know it's for Gameboy, and there weren't much they could have done, but couldn't they have made a female player character at least? :\
On the other hand, I'm going to have to say Sapphire/Ruby. :\ Why? Simple! It wasn't as good as it could have been. Crystal had all these cool features, such as a radio, day/night, animations for pokemon etc.. Then Sapphire/Ruby ditches all this stuff. Sure, there was time, but the days and the effects were gone. The 'rival' May/Brendan were the worst ever! Their starter never evolved to their final forms, she gave you every item (you're meant to be a rival, not a side-kick!) and she/he generally wasn't as good as Silver, and Wally, the other rival, was some sick kid who can't even catch a Pokemon and you only battle him twice. Twice! :\ Plus, Hoenn is one of the least memorable regions (Sinnoh too). On the plus side, the graphics were an improvement from G/S/C, the teams fighting each other was cool, and Team Aqua is awesome! :D Also, Emerald is great, with the Battle Frontier and animations returning although they should have been in Ruby/Sapphire, anyway. |
Umm. I cant decide, so i said green because of the sprites. Just looking at them makes me wanna throw up.
|
Not yellow, R/B/Y 4 life. :)
Probably crystal since it was for kids who couldn't catch roaming suicune. |
I don't think I have a least favorite Region.....
But my favorites are Hoenn and Sinnoh. (mostly because I started in Sinnoh) |

Even though I never owned them, I really disliked the R/S/E ones. Out of the ones I have owned (as in, all of the others), Pearl takes it.
|
I just can't answer this. I love them all.
This puts me at ends. |
Fire Red was the worst game I have played, I expected alot more interesting side quests in the early parts of the game, and I was left biterly dissapointed. I also found the islands at the end of the game very boring. I haven't been more dissapointed in a Pokemon game than I was with Fire Red.
|
Diamond and Pearl were a pain in the ass, but Platinum wasn't just a developed version of D/P with extra features, it almost had a completely new storyline. Bottom Line: D/P: Sucked... Pt: Ok...
|
WHERE IS RANGER?!
That game sucked, and the sequel only slightly redeemed it. But if I have to pick one... Sapphire, as when I got it I wanted a Zangoose :( |
I didnt like yellow much I dont know why just didnt care for it
|
The sinnoh reigon for me, was bad because it was short, tedious and the pokemon sucked. but hoenn was the same way only worse. but the hoenn reigon had great music and it fit the graphics well.
|
GOLD, SILVER, & CRYSTAL SUCKED because they were VERY VERY VERY UNDERLEVELED, ALL of the starters had ONLY ONE TYPE THEIR WHOLE LIFE, JOHTO IS THE SMALLEST REGION EVER, you can CRUUUUUUUSH RED WITH ONLY ~Lv. 55+ POKEMON, THE KANTO REGION MUSIC SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKED, & THERE'S NO TRAINERS IN VICTORY ROAD, Mt. MOON, ROCK TUNNEL, & ICE PATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Diamond and Pearl by far.....just wasn't very good :/
|
Yellow, I hated it. And that stupid Pikachu.

But to stay on topic the worst I would say was R/S/E 3rd generation was like it went down hill, All the pokemon wernt that great, Some were good though, But I beat Emerald, Started on Ruby a few months later then through it out the window and it "Disipered" |
It's so hard to choose...But,I'd have to say Pokemon Platinum,Diamond,And Pearl.
I HATE Sinnoh for some reason.I prefer the old regions. |
I honestly despise the new games. They seem exactly like the originals, and the bag of new features doesn't make up for a lame plot line and repetitive system. |

It went DOWNHILL? Maybe on oposite day, I... no, I wouldn't agree then, because on that day I'd pick up the average pokemon player's unseethroughable Rose Colored glasses. |
Diamond. Because it was the only game that I had to force myself to finish...the very first time through. If it couldn't keep my attention when everything in it was new to me, I wouldn't want to replay it at all.
Well, I had trouble getting myself to play through LeafGreen at first, too, but that was because I didn't realize at first that it was a straight remake--I thought it was a different game with a different storyline from the originals. Now, however, I play it all the time. I didn't expect everyone to dislike Yellow so much. I loved it, especially the ability to get all of the starters. |
Pokemon dash?
Out of all of these choices, though, I'd have to go with Pearl. It's not that I don't like Sinnoh, it's just that I got both games because I had a lot of money back then (lol) and then found out that I didn't really like the new pokemon. I never really played Pearl that much since I liked Dialga better. XD |
Diamond and Pearl they were good just not as great as all the others in my opinion.
|
According to me ruby, sappire and emerald are the worst game I have ever played. And the one which I like is diamond and pearl as there are many new things in it and also you can battle through wifi.
|
I'm not saying these are bad games but they were the ones I liked least of all the games. Not too keen on Pokémon Emerald.
|
I despised DPP. Too longs.
For my least favorite game ever, Pokemon Snap, what a bad game. |
I have to say Diamond and Pearl, Even Platinum was boring to me as heck.
|
I grew tired of Yellow very quickly, but then I did recieve it it after Crystal; I do also despise the Pikachu in the anime which the one in the game was made to essentially represent.
|
I'd say Platinum here. As I have already mentioned here and then before, I am not very fond of slow games, and DPPt were the ones where that was extreme. Of course, DP were slower than Pt, but Pt had even more dialogues you read once and then always have to click away, and I really hated and still hate that pesky Distortion world, imo it takes fun out of the game.
I haven't played a properly running version of HGSS yet, so if I get disappointed when I get to play them, I might change that opinion. |
out of the ones on the poll i would have to say leafgreen firered. i just didnt like the remakes. the originals were alot better. but the only one i really didnt like was explorers of darkness. i like the idea of the game but 99+ floors gets alittle boring after awhile.
|
i hated hoenn also.....no evolutions of old pokemon
|
Quote:
|
PEARL AND PLATINUM!!!
ugh... hated those :S |
Green? When did they come out with that?(not trying to be funny, i seriously dont remember if they did...)
|
I didn't like Pokemon Puzzle League at all.
This is General Gaming, goes hand and hand with Spin Off, sue me d: Edit: Green was a Japan only release, as Blue was a n American only release. |
I think every game had their pros and cons for me, so it's hard to say whether or not I truly despised a certain one...
R/B/Y were the ones that got me into Pokémon in the first place, and while I don't remember exactly how I felt about then when I was playing them (since it was 10+ years ago), they must have been good. If they weren't, I wouldn't have continued playing. :P I missed out on G/S/C. R/S/E are alright, but it's definitely one that I try to avoid playing unless I have to. I'd still like to go back and get all of the legendaries to transfer over to my Platinum, but...I dunno, there's just something about it that keeps me away. I didn't play FR/LG either... Pearl was the one that got me back into Pokémon, so I like it in that aspect. Platinum is my meta-cartridge that holds all of my treasured Pokémon, has the most hours, and so on. Pearl was just so incredibly painstakingly slow from the gameplay mechanic perspective. It was really frustrating to take 30 seconds just to start a stupid battle. SoulSilver's alright, but the storyline felt really rushed. All of the gym leaders were defeated only about 50 hours in, and I'm having trouble finding the motivation to level grind so I can defeat Red. I'd probably have more fun with it if I originally played G/S/C. Hey You Pikachu wins my vote for worst spin-off. It was pretty much an expensive waste of time :/ |
Would be Pokemon Trading Card Game.
I mostly just Card Pop'd with it. |
Ruby and Sapphire are the games that dragged me into Pokemon. I absolutely love them! I never liked the Johto region, I don't get all the love for it. There aren't many interesting Pokemon in that region, tbh, and it felt too short and easy to beat those games.
HG/SS are, ironically, my favorite games so far, though. I'm just not a fan of the region itself, or its Pokemon, so I use a team of Pokemon from mostly the other generations :p FireRed and LeafGreen were tough to get through. I got really bored, and for some reason I couldn't stand the way the graphics looked. The overworld sprites bothered me and I have no urge to ever play those two again :\ But the WORST (i actually enjoy all the main series games) was probably yellow. I didnt like not being able to evolve Pikachu, it made it a useless starter. The only good thing from this game was the fact that you can get all three starters. |
yellow, you cant evolve pikachu which sux. and brock is basically impossible
|
Too bad Pokemon Channel isn't an option. Out of the games listed, I'd have to say Yellow as well... (they removed the Cinnabar Island glitch).
Quote:
Growl/Tail Whip spam, potions, and an extra "Martyr" Pokemon. Not too hard, just time consuming. If anything, Nidoran M/F @ double kick. |
Of all the Pokemon games I've played so far... definitely Pearl. The battles were WAY too slow, the Pokemon SUCKED (mostly the starters, and any other Pokemon that wasn't an evolution or pre-evolution of an already existing Pokemon), and the region itself was just... boring. Strange though, because Pearl was the Pokemon game that got me SO hyped. I watched so many videos of it before it was released, so I really spoiled it for myself, lol. Definitely didn't turn out as good as I hoped. >.>
|
I dislike Pokemon Diamond because it was really slow, but only by a little. I rarely hate pokemon games.
|
out of those, fire red. I just couldn't stand the tutorial screen things. It was like "I know how to play and I get enough explaining as it is, leave me alone with these things"
|
Heart Gold and Soul Silver.
I give GSC a pass from being the worst because HGSS had a chance to fix everything wrong with the originals. Low levels, less plot than RBY, bland, empty Kanto, and a f**** huge level hike before Red is supposedly the best Pokemon games of all time. Hell no. |
Fire Red and Leaf Green could have been a lot better. I dunno, they just felt watered down and boring. They didn't expand much on the original games, the Sevii Islands were uneventful and full of random "mysterious" nonsense... It was slowed down and stuffed with "helpful" features, like it was trying to appeal to new players rather than allow old fans to re-live the experience of the original games. RBY was a lot more fun for me than FRLG.
|
No spin offs? 'Cuz I bought that one racing game (Pokemon Dash? ...Whatever) and then returned it the next day because I loathed it. XD
For the main games, I didn't really hate any of them. If I have to go with the one I liked the least, I guess I would have to go with FR/LG. I mean, I'm not gonna hate of the 1st gen Pokemon or anything, but let's face it, Kanto is kind of a boring region. The 3rd gen remake of it just kind of solidified how bland and uninteresting it was. I guess adding on the islands was supposed to be a nice touch, but eh. I didn't particularly like them probably because of getting between them was a biiit of a pain. |
Oh.
Diamond. SLOW.SLOW.SLOW. I love all the Pokemons, but Platinum totally shows you how slow Diamond was... I can't even bear to turn on my Diamond now, and I've moved everything to HGSS anyway so... |
Quote:
Its taken me so much less time to get through Platinum. Diamond I'm a massive fan of, but it was just too slow. But I'm going with R/S/E since I never played it, and looking at it's Pokemon to offer, it doesn't look too good. |
I like all the games I have played >_<! but my least favorite was Fr.
|
I saw Green because that is the only game i havent played XD
