Netbooks or laptops?
So, which one do you like better? I like netbooks because they are lighter and they are what I use.
|
Hmm..Yes, I guess I'd prefer a netbook too since they're easy to carry around (although I don't necessarily have one, yet). Yet, I feel the need of a laptop. But maybe it's because I just want one :p.
|
Laptops because they are more powerful than netbooks.
*waits for someone to come in and say iPod tou- I MEAN iPad.* |
I own both a netbook and a Macbook, and I prefer the Macbook more. Sure, the netbook is more portable, but I don't think that the portability is a good trade-off for decreased performance. OS X and Win 7 both run noticeably slower on it than on my Mac.
|
Netbooks are to small. I can't type good with them, so I use a laptop.
|
Laptops are more capable than netbooks, and have a much lower cost-to-power ratio than netbooks, even with the wireless contracts you can get through cell phone providers that bring down the price of the hardware.
|
laptops cause they have better specs. id just by a carrier for it
|
Given the choices, I'd say notebooks. I'm more partial to the tablet form factor, but seeing as I
ve yet to receive my new tablet yet, I cannot comment definitively whether I'll prefer it over my notebook or not. |
laptops. netbooks are too small and fragile for mehh >.<
|
Netbooks. Regular laptops are heavy and uncomfortable to use portably. I like that I can carry my netbook in one hand and type with the other while walking. If you want 'power', use a damn desktop.

Laptops with pirated software. Why? Because I don't feel like paying for XP (since it's now more expensive than Vista and 7 is on desktops for now) and laptop because of DVD and good specs.

Battery life is a consideration, but some of the ULVs get just as much, if not more battery life, thanks to more cells. Until netbooks go dual-core in the mainstream, they're a gimmick. Quote:
I'll stick with my old frankensteined HP. I don't think it has any parts I haven't upgraded, aside from the locked graphics... CPU, Mem, HDD, Battery, lol. |

If you already have a decent computer, like a desktop, there's no reason to get a powerful laptop to go with it. I use my netbook as my "away from home" computer. It's much better than my old laptop was for taking notes in class because it's much lighter and easier to bring with me to school. And when I head home for the weekend, it's really nice to be able to bring my own computer with me so I don't impose on the rest of my family by taking up the family desktop to do some homework, check email, or chat with friends. The increased portability of my netbook is the reason I love it.
Buuuut I will definitely admit that for the year or so that I didn't have another computer alongside the netbook, because my laptop crapped out on me so often, it was hard. Having only 1024x600 pixels of space to work with? Ugggh. I definitely preferred my old laptop's 1280x800. Basically, as a secondary computer, it makes more sense to go with a netbook. Get something small to use when you aren't at your main computer, you know? But if you're looking for something to use as your primary computer, a netbook will be very restrictive. D: |
I agree with Light-san, I have a nice desktop for all the big stuff and my netbook's nice for smaller, you know, stuff. (Ignoring the fact I can play FFVIII, FFVII, all Pokemon Games, and FFVI on my netbook, let's consider that small) :D
Nah, I love my netbook. |
I love my laptop. It has amazing graphics, a huge screen, lost of memory, and long battery life. I used my friends netbook, and it was an epic fail, compared to my laptop.
|
You know what it really boils down to? What do you need it for? I have my desktop for gaming, therefore I don't need a big, bulky laptop. I have a nice Lenovo IdeaPad S10 that works perfect for what I need it for: checking my work mail, browsing the web, and doing some business work on it. I have my home desktop, as well as my work desktop. And even if I do want to game on the go, my Lenovo can handle NES, Super NES, GB/GBC/GBA, etc...emulators with no problems that I've noticed, yet. But it's what suits my needs and works best for me. Like I said, it just depends on what you need it for.
|
I use a Laptop because its more practical for school and whatnot, and I can't handle tiny screens. >:|
|
Netbooks are good for me because I don't do much gaming on a computer. Plus I have a destop for that.
|
Netbooks are smaller and lighter BUT are much slower
id say go for a laptop! nice big one!! |
Laptops. Netbooks stink. Their battery life is low, they aren't as fast as laptops. Running flash or games or a flash game; the battery life is gone quickly and it is slow. The keyboard is hard to type on and the screen isn't great. The specs of them aren't that great and they stink. Laptops rock. I love Macbook Pros. They are fast and the screen is lovely. I mean who doesn't love an Intel Quad Core laptop?!
iPad haters and Netbook lovers will hate me for this but iPad>Netbook. Laptop>Netbook Laptop>iPad. |
I prefer Laptops. There great for school stuff and if your like me and the desktop is in your parents room. :P
|
Laptop, because it's my main computer, and I do not have the need for a backup computer just yet. Should I ever need one, it would be a netbook. They are handy to carry around for school/work, and excellent for quick working on the go.
|
um, laptops. they're small enough already, and rather cheap, so why sacrifice everything good about the computer for an extra ounce of portability. get an iphone
|
i prefer laptops but i do think netbooks are good for when your on the go.
|
I prefer laptops under all circumstances.
Netbooks are just too ... weak by definition. I guess I'm used to carrying a laptop around =3 |
Right now, a laptop because I need its power to run stuff like Word and MATLAB for school. I wouldn't mind having both if I could afford them; the laptop for school stuff and the netbook for general web surfing and such (my laptop is quite heavy:/ ).

Because the keyboard is much easy to use. I myself have a thick and large fingers so netbooks is not for me. |
