I agree with Chimchar 9, it would be cool with a longer adventure, since I'm not into this competetive stuff. But not like an adventure that you have to do, and then be able to "move on" in the game. I would rather have side-quests, that you can do whenever you want. Like someone mentioned earlier, the Orange Islands would be awesome =D And then a super pokemon leaugue, that have pokemon up to level 80 from all kind of regions... ='P

SIN1488 April 8th, 2010 10:09 AM

Of course a longer adventure would be cool, but maybe a lot of you really need to just ration your games? I've had SoulSilver since a few days after it came out, and I haven't even beat the Elite 4 yet. It's not like I've been distracting myself with other parts of the game either, I played Voltorb Flip once, and haven't even tried the Pokethalon.

I don't know, I just don't feel satisfied after beating a game in a few days, but that's just me.

piemeup April 8th, 2010 10:37 AM

I agree, they should have made it longer but they really need to work on endings, Spoiler if you havent beat pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, or Soul Silver! Like all you do is climb Mt. Silver see Pokemon Trainer Red, Hes all like "............" You beat him hes all like ".........." (again) and like, its over, Done, Game set and match. But tghey could make things a lot longer by haveing places from the shows and movies in the games. Aswell an idea I thought of was haveing all the regions in one game and name it something like, Pokemon Saga's, Something with a catchy name, and choose between a pokemon trainer and a coordinator and have some new system for that, but you know just my idea.

*EDIT*
Also for a longer adventure when you trade arcues over do the event in HG/SS you're at the Sinjo Ruins, A place that was said to connect Sinnoh and Johto Regions, After I did this event I thought "Maybe you can go to Sinnoh?" But you can't :( the location on the map is gone!

pokemonhacker1 April 8th, 2010 10:47 AM

i did the only chalenge is red.

Maxite April 8th, 2010 11:10 AM

Sure, the games could have more content after the main storyline is finished (I always get bored with the games once I beat the Elite Four), but what would they do? Add in another region? I'm not so sure that the games could support the addition of a third region (at least on the NDS cards). It'd need to be more than just throwing in more regions to do the trick, as they would only delay the time it takes to complete the storyline and get bored. Some new gameplay mechanics could be added that would make things more exciting and keep people playing. We have Pokemon friendship values, so why not make it so that the players can romance one of the NPCs (a la Harvest Moon)? Or hell, even being allowed to set up a gym would be nice (or maybe an event where you can look over an existing gym leader's gym while they go do something), and face five or so trainers (yea, similar to the Battle Facilities, but Nintendo could change things up for this one).
There's more that can be done with the series to make the gameplay longer, but adding new regions isn't the best of them.

CharizardTrainer April 8th, 2010 11:51 AM

Well, I plowed through the game pretty fast, but I never expected to go to Kanto in the first place so that was a big surprise. I thought the game was decently long.

Besides, I intend to play this game for a while. Fill up pokedex, battle people online, train pokemon, etc.

Gamepro722 April 8th, 2010 12:11 PM

I really enjoyed Heart Gold mostly because gold was my favorite game out of the series, but after only 70 hours im at red... kinda short for me....haha. Another thing is that now, when the national dex contains 493 pokemon, 150+ ill have to trade from my other games....its kinda excessive. It would be fine if they include another region or two so you can "catch them all" and just to add some more gameplay to the game.

imapirate April 8th, 2010 12:24 PM

For someone who isn't a Pokeaddict, I think it's a decent length. Sure they could've added couple more new stuff but they probably reserve that for the next generation which is probably going to be innovative in the Wi-Fi department (setting up your own Gym, as Maxite said, would be very possible especially over Wi-Fi). Also, you have to remember that this is a remake of an old game so they can't really change the story line or anything =/

akamichi April 8th, 2010 1:37 PM

mmmm sure it could of have a longer length but it turned out great it was way better than platnium or daimond.

Heart's Soul April 8th, 2010 1:48 PM

I want more length in Kanto. No new regions and for Nintendo to use the 2Gb chip. Or the newly-made 4Gb! (I'm speaking sizes here)

EDIT: But you can catch nearly 470 guys legally, that's good.

Chimchar 9 April 8th, 2010 3:59 PM

Also, wouldn't it be good if the pokemon's level could go above 100? :\

seeker April 8th, 2010 4:45 PM

I'll be honest, I rushed through my adventure on my Japanese Soul Silver and found it to be quite long. I mean, I must have clocked 40 hours or so before I finished. So I'm satisfied with the length of the main story, not to mention the fact that there are so many things for you to do along the way in the means of side quests.
As for my second run I'll be taking it very slow and very sparingly and recording my daily events and actions within my journal to ensure that I don't speed through the game and regret not making the most of it.
All in all I think it's a good length, it's longer than the originals I might add. HG/SS live up to what they should have been in my eyes but I think that the power of nostalgia can fathom a reason as to why people may not be satisfied with the adventure.

vibratingcat April 8th, 2010 6:44 PM

no... its probably the longest pokemon game i've played. i still havnt beaten red and i've got 98 hours, but thats mainly coz i've been catching pokemon. if u think HGSS was short, then wat did u think of dpt?

coolfarhan11 April 8th, 2010 7:58 PM

Hmm... Johto was a good length, but I pwned Kanto in a little more than 3 hours, compared to Johto's, what, 57 hrs. ?

if they ever added all the regions i believe they would make it so once you reached a new region youd start all over. all your pokemon you caught before will be innaccessible in that region until you beat that regions e4 then you are able to access them there then the next region is unlocked and it happens all over.

i think 16 badges a frontier multiple legends pokeathlon and so on are all great. lengthening it wouldnt hurt but its already as good as it can get in my mind

Rick. April 8th, 2010 9:53 PM

well, i think its the longest pokemon game. you can obtain 16 bagdes.

Rocket Executive Josh April 8th, 2010 10:45 PM

I liked the game as it was. Having more regions as it were would have ruined it, because the gym leaders and elite 4 in the third and fourth regions would have all been similar levels (around 90-100).

Bluemoon April 9th, 2010 10:26 AM

I agree they should have more adventures in the game.... especially the team rocket

linkinpark187 April 9th, 2010 11:04 AM

In all honesty, I think it's perfect the way it is. What could have been interesting is doing something similar to Fallout 3, though. No, not the post apocalyptic world, but side quests. From the major to the insignificant. Could have been interesting...but that doesn't mean it would make it better! ;)

WiiMann April 9th, 2010 6:57 PM

Too short for me, beat it in 18 hours and 58 mins........kinda disappointed :/ but thts why i bought a copy of HG and SS repaly it as many times as i want :D

I'm pretty sure there's only going to be Pokemon games on Nintendo Products.

Zeta Sukuna April 9th, 2010 10:42 PM

I was only disappointed with Team Rocket's amount of time. I was kind of hoping they'd be expanded upon in Kanto, but no. Other then that, it's a pretty good length. I still haven't beaten Red after... 62:05. Yeah, that's a good length.

NeoZX April 10th, 2010 2:28 AM

Yeah, if it gets more regions, well, I'll probably love it...
But the problem is the Trainers in the region. Imagine a Fisherman having 6 level 80 Magikarps XD.
So maybe:
Johto: 1-30
Kanto: 31-50
Hoenn: 51-70
Sinnoh: 71-100
...But If they made that in the DS, it would be really amazing...

Totodile! April 10th, 2010 2:45 AM

It's enough for me ... 2 regions, 16 badges ... what more could you possibly want?
I would love to have a game with all the regions possible to access ... but it would be a lot of work and it will probably take 2-3 years even if GameFreak has a big team working on it.
So yeah ... I think that's enough ;]

The Doctor April 10th, 2010 2:46 AM

No this was the longest adventure i have ever played, i started pokemon at FR/LG so i never played G/S/C.

I enjoyed it and if it was any longer it would spoil the game. ( Still have to beat Red though, and MY TEAM IS ONLY IN THEIR 60's and i have NOBODY to train against.... Life hates me )
