Leveling via Pokewalker, losing skills
Hello there, first post.
I am new to Pokemon, having only played a little of Pearl, and now nearly 20 hours of SoulSilver, and I have a question regarding leveling Pokemon via the Pokewalker. I have read that if you level a Pokemon via the Pokewalker, and that Pokemon would have normally gained a skill at that new level, it won't if that level was achieved through the use of the Pokewalker. Is this correct? It seems this poses a problem when selecting a Pokemon for use in the Pokewalker. I am leery of missing out on new skills because I leveled a Pokemon using the Pokewalker. How are other players dealing with this issue? Thank you. |
With Heart Scales, presumably.

First of all, yes, if a Pokemon gains a level through the Pokewalker, and it would have learned a new move or evolved on the level it grew to, it won't do either.
A good way to get around this is look up on something like Serebii or Bulbapedia when Pokemon learn attacks or evolve and avoid leveling your Pokemon to those levels in a Pokewalker. Or you could do what I do and just not care too much... You can always have the move tutor teach your Pokemon any move they missed. n.n Also, welcome to Pokecommunity! Glad to have you. - Tyros |
welli tryed to keep taking otu and puting my pokemon in the pokewalker to avoid boring grinding but it didnt work but it would work if well i need to know how many steps does your pokemon need in the pokewalker so that once you take it out it will gain a level
|
The amount of steps it needs is the same as how much EXP it needs for the next level. One step is 1 EXP.
So, you can check how many steps it would need on the Pokemon's data page. - Tyros |

Hai there. :3
Just wanted to let you know that it is true what you asked, and that for future, all questions belong in the HG/SS Help Thread. As for dealing with the problem of missing some moves from the PokéWalker, the only real solutions or options you have is to either ignore it if it isn't something important, or obtain a Heart Scale and just relearn the move from the Move Re-learner in Blackthorn City. Other than that, there really is not other way to deal with it. Though, you could avoid missing a move by making sure your Pokémon doesn't learn a move or evolve on the next level before placing it in the PokéWalker. Anyway, that's pretty much the whole gist of it all. Might I recommend making an introduction in the New Users/ Welcome section since you've recently joined for the first time here at PokéCommunity?
