HG/SS Championship

The Pokemon HG/SS Video Game Championship is coming up.
Is anyone thinking of going or has anyone ever been?
I kind of am, but I'm not one of those people who breeds the perfect Pokemon and does all of the IV/EV training or whatever, and I think most people there will be like that.
But you can get a shiny Eevee for just going and watching!

(I'm new and I'm not sure if this belongs in this forum because it's for HG/SS only, or if to put it in the Wi Fi forum,, sorry!)

TheAppleFreak April 15th, 2010 6:38 PM

I actually want to go, despite my competitive record being 0 for a lot (mainly due to a lack of ability to make a competitive team, but I'm much better now). Hopefully, I'll be able to make it to the fifth round (my personal goal).

Calder April 15th, 2010 6:40 PM

Can you provide a link to wtf your talking about...

Yanmegatron April 15th, 2010 6:47 PM

i'm not sertain if i'll go i am still fine tunning my team

Kirbychu April 15th, 2010 8:21 PM

I was thinking of going, I even have a team prepared for it, but decided against it. Some people take it way to seriously (RNGing for perfect IVs, best possible moveset, some people even travel across the country to the qualifier with less experienced battlers.), and frankly, it just ruins the fun. :( Everyone is using Rain teams, or maybe a Trick Room team. I suppose the people that really go the extra mile to win will do so... Good for them.

I also live in Oregon, and I don't feel like heading all the way up to Seattle. 3:

All the info known so far is on that site, and it's happening around the same time it does every year. The events are pretty fun. Even if you lose you can trade/battle many fellow Pokemon fans. Basically just a Pokemon convention.

Eurydice April 15th, 2010 8:34 PM

i would, but there are none anywhere close to where i live.

Problem is I'm moving on the 3rd of May to NC where there are no events nearby at all <.< I hate NC...sigh...hopefully I can visit the 29th to go...its 32 minutes from my current house...

IDK what I should do thought I reset my SS so Imma have to beat it and get a team...idk if I can do all of that in that time...

Blazenwing April 15th, 2010 9:46 PM

No events in the Midwest??? WTF?!

And no, the Indy event doesn't count as it's the National Championships... this is total BS, they couldn't give Minneapolis or Chicago or heck, even Milwaukee an event? Not all of us are able to travel cross country at the drop of a hat... :(

Kirbychu April 15th, 2010 9:51 PM

Too bad for you that can't go just because of the locations. I guess you can just hope for next year! :D

Fredward April 15th, 2010 10:22 PM

I might go to the Dallas one, but I know that the "perfect" trainers will be there.
Hey if I lose early enough, I can to go Six Flags!

mirrorcleworld April 16th, 2010 8:24 AM

Wow..never done any events like this before. I don't know that my team will be tough enough to win anything substantial, but it seems like fun! I might go to the San Mateo one...

!? April 16th, 2010 8:55 AM

I was part of the 10th aniversery competition. It was fun, so I might take part in this one now that I'm better at the game.

Pikachu-dance! April 16th, 2010 8:57 AM

Most of the people in this tournement will have made their pokemon absolutely perfect and will play ruthlessly not paying any attention to defense or anything other than KOing all the pokemon really quickly so i will probably just beg my parents to take me to the birmingham one

umbreon_4_life April 16th, 2010 10:53 AM

I'd like to go, ya' know, just for the Eevee. Unfortunately, though, there aren't any locations near where I am. =(

Eeohnex April 16th, 2010 11:06 AM

I would love to go, it would be awesome, but sadly, none of the events are close to my location. I would probably just go to be an spectator and to get a Shiny Eeevee, that would be dope. :)

Sire April 16th, 2010 11:48 AM

New Jersey for the win~

You need to EV Train and have Rain/TR/Hail/Garchomp counters. Garchomp is one of those pokemon that is a staple for a lot of teams that aren't orientated with Weather or TR. But I think many people will be running Rayquaza for Sky Lock, including me.

Clefairies April 16th, 2010 11:50 AM

I would like to go, but only to watch and recieve a shiny eevee.
Good luck to everyone who is entering (:

Sydian April 16th, 2010 11:52 AM

Closest one to me is Atlanta, but it's on the day I leave for my mission trip, which I've been waiting on all year. I think I'll deal without a shiny Eevee. Besides, I'd lose the battles. XD

PKMN Trainer Alexander The great April 16th, 2010 2:47 PM

Where is there a rules list because i have action replay but... only for items and Master balls can i even compete?

alisaie April 16th, 2010 2:56 PM

I would love to go if the closest one wasn't in Atlanta Georgia. D| Now if they had one in Orlando or Tampa or something, I would definitely go as a spectator for that Shiny Eevee. (b'')b. Ah Well.

Arcadia April 16th, 2010 6:19 PM

What is the prize for the winner of this competition? I can't believe people would travel across the country for this lol.

Rayquaza is banned, I believe.

That's incorrect. Per the official website:

Restricted Pokémon

During battle, a player's team of four Pokémon may not have more than two Pokémon from the list below. A player's Team Information Sheet may contain up to four Pokémon from the list below, as long as two non-restricted Pokémon are also listed on the sheet.
150 - Mewtwo
249 - Lugia
250 - Ho-Oh
382 - Kyogre
383 - Groudon
384 - Rayquaza
483 - Dialga
484 - Palkia
487 - Giratina

Aquerex April 16th, 2010 7:56 PM

I SO wanna go, problem is, I have a game re-starting problem...

I might go to the Phoenix AZ one, since it's only like...25 minutes away from my house. You know what I'm gonna go do right now? Train my pathetically weak team into the best one in the world. Watch out, everyone! :D

Ninja Caterpie April 16th, 2010 8:01 PM

No Australia? Some "World" championship...

Gidget April 16th, 2010 8:37 PM

For anyone who has participated in these events-

I use AR codes to get 200x exp from battles in my game when I need to level up pokemon quickly so I'm at the right level for whatever part of the game I'm at. If I use these pokemon, will I be disqualified since I used a code to level them up quickly?

I dont think you would be seen as you have only hacked the exp and this should have no effect on your pokemon other than it has leveled up

Kavii April 17th, 2010 1:07 AM

Taken from the Other Information section in the Rules and Regulations:

Quote:

The use of external devices to alter the Pokémon in a player's party is expressly forbidden. Random checks will be performed throughout the tournament to determine whether or not an external device has been used to modify a player's party. Players found to have Pokémon that have been tampered with will be disqualified from the event, regardless of whether the player tampered with his or her game or received a Pokémon or item that was tampered with by someone other than the player. It is the player's responsibility to have legal Pokémon. Event officials have the final determination regarding the legality of a Pokémon.

A player should notify the staff immediately if he or she believes that there is a problem with an opponent's Pokémon. At the end of the round, all match results become final. Issues that go unreported until after the round has completed will not change the result of that match, regardless of whether there is a problem with an opponent's Pokémon.

Players and spectators are expected to demonstrate proper sportsmanship over the course of the event. A player may be disqualified from the event based on actions taken by friends or relatives who disrupt the operation of the tournament.
So my guess is; if they can detect anything altered, you can and will be disqualified even for something that doesn't affect anything aside from levels.

Day before Nationals is the Midwest's REgionals at the same place.

salochin April 17th, 2010 4:00 PM

Why oh why is orlando not on there? Seriously we have about 20 convention centers here and furthermore, millions of tourists at any given time. T.T

If I used hacked rare candies to finish leveling off my pokemon, would that be considered as the hacking aspect?

Foxnordic April 17th, 2010 4:25 PM

That would be modifying the game card. Any abnormalities with the game at all would be detected. :3

FireApe2135 April 17th, 2010 7:25 PM

Even though if the pokemon was transfered to a new game card?

Gary Oak FTW April 17th, 2010 7:49 PM

The closest one is 3 hours away,I might go if I can get a ride from my friend who also plays Pokemon and has a license.

ShreyasPokemon April 17th, 2010 7:52 PM

I am going to the San Fransisco one!!! (anyone I can meet up with?)

Gary Oak FTW April 17th, 2010 7:59 PM

Possibly me if I can end up getting that ride.

mirrorcleworld April 19th, 2010 12:43 PM

Yay for the SF one! (Although it's actually in San Mateo)

I'm conflicted if I actually want to battle or just hang out and get my Shiny Eevee. =P I don't EV train so...we'll see I suppose.

Omn April 19th, 2010 5:14 PM

I'm so sad that i can't go because i live in canada! Curse you american events why won't you come to canada.

Silver April 19th, 2010 5:30 PM

I'll probably be going to the Indianapolis one even though it's ~5 hours away. Not digging the 4 v 4 doubles set-up, I'd much prefer 6 v 6 singles, but w/e. I've gotta get started on theory crafting my team, and breeding/rng etc.

No, the new cartridge would be clean, that's why I'm leaving my Soul Silver Cart alone, and doing all my breeding/training on my Diamond version, so I can use the IV check code.

Kendall April 19th, 2010 11:23 PM

I'll be going to the one in Phoenix with two of my friends. Can't wait! Just have to come up with a good team. I already have one team, my team from Platinum, but it's mostly UU/NU pokemon. Even combining with my SS team (which isn't EV trained yet) would not be enough to go up against the multitude of Ubers that will be used by noobs. I wish they hadn't allowed ubers. So i'll have to find a way to fit in some ubers. Plus the battles are double battles, so I'll have to factor that as well.

For a tournament which can have up to 768 people, 6v6 singles would take too long. Doubles matches are generally a lot faster than singles, especially with only 4 Pokémon per team.

Those aren't what you should be worrying about. Much more scary are ubers being used by experienced players.

If you don't have a way to deal with rain (especially if Kyogre OHKOes your entire team), you're not going to get very far. And Kyogre can OHKO a lot of things.

Trope April 20th, 2010 12:46 PM

No events in Belgium. Can't go to Lyon, that's too far away.

Bleh.

I understand the reasoning behind it, I'm just saying I prefer 6 v 6 singles as I think it takes a bit more strategy and you don't see as much gimmick's like rain teams as often.

Rain teams can be quite deadly. For example, I may or may not use a Machamp/Kyogre combo with Thunder, Sheer Cold, Water Spout, Skill Swap, and No Guard. I don't think you stand a chance. Even if you have Sturdy, one Water Spout (even at half-HP) will do a lot of damage. And Thunder can break Protect in Rain.

MasterLink742 April 20th, 2010 4:05 PM

I would go, but its too far away, and I have no competitive team....

Oh, I understand the potency of rain teams, I'm just really expecting there to be a lot of them at these events, especially among like the general populace, heck, I may even use one myself. I haven't started theorycrafting yet. However I was paying attention to the people at smogon and it doesn't seem like a lot of them are going to be running rain, so I'm kinda trying to decide if I should build something that just stomps rain, or go with something completely different yet still viable, but not overly weak to rain. idk really. it'll be cool to play against people that actually think out their teams and such, though I'm kinda expecting a fair amount of people who have no idea about the 'competitive' style of pokemon.

Woah, wall of text. ;p

Fli April 20th, 2010 6:55 PM

I was going to go to the Atlanta one (it is only like an hour from my house- not bad considering) just to grab the eevee and watch. I had even convinced my family that we could do a day in Atlanta thing. But, it turns out that that is the day we are going to the beach. I guess I'll just have to live without my eevee.

shuppet88 April 20th, 2010 6:57 PM

I have never done competitive battling before; I battled the boyfriend of my best friend's little sister once, and I did kick his butt. That is my only experience though. :/ We'll see. I have no idea how to IV/EV train, so I'm just planning on using some Pokemon from Platinum and some from Heart Gold that I've really worked hard on. Should I use a Giratina? I'm not going to be sad if I don't make it very far; I will still have fun.

I'm going to take the Chinatown bus from Boston to NYC and then a train to Jersey! Woot I am so excited to travel...

SIN1488 April 20th, 2010 7:30 PM

I don't think I would do good because everyone's pokemon probably would have flawless IV's, and I don't use any legendarys. But it sounds like it would be awesome to go to anyway, though I don't think I would go because of the distance.

I thought this was funny from the rules and regulations:

Quote:

Players may not enter a Pokémon nicknamed with the name of another Pokémon character (for example, a Lucario nicknamed "Spiritomb").
I used to name one of my pokemon "Mew" back when I first played the 1st generation, and my friends would freak out when it said "SIN sent out Mew!". lol. I think that rule is kind of stupid though, why shouldn't you be allowed to throw off the opponent with that?

This makes me want to find a small tournament closer to where I live though.

Wichu April 21st, 2010 5:39 AM

Thunder breaking through Protect is a glitch in Diamond and Pearl. It doesn't happen in HG/SS.
Also, you're not going to have time to Skill Swap; neither Machamp or Kyogre can learn it, which means you're using up two turns with a 3rd Pokémon, as well as one turn to switch between Machamp and Kyogre. In other words, during the time your opponent can attack 4 times, you only get to move once (with Machamp, on turn 1).
A common strategy is to Fake Out on the first turn; if they Fake Out your Skill Swapper, you will need a 3rd turn. Another common strategy is to use Dark Void Smeargle; even if you have a Lum Berry, they will still have a second turn to use Dark Void while you're unable to KO Smeargle (as you'd be busy Skill Swapping).
Finally, as soon as you send out Kyogre, the opponent will easily guess that you're going to Skill Swap No Guard to it and then use Sheer Cold; they can just gang up on Kyogre to KO it before it can Sheer Cold, meaning you just wasted all those turns setting up.

rocketknight93 April 21st, 2010 2:28 PM

I might be going to the Jersey one but i live in maryland :p. I hope I can convince my mom in letting me go. Heck my brother could probally get me down there XD.

HDmvp41 April 21st, 2010 3:45 PM

im so going to the seattle 1 but its limited to like 700 people so i might arrive super early! but i have never gone to one of these so im pretty hyped!

tangvor April 25th, 2010 6:57 AM

I want to SOOOO bad.
I always have and always will.
But sad thing is they're always too far away.
Also I thought the same rules for battle tower applied, but seems they don't and you can use up to 4 (non-event) legendaries so I didn't even worry about them.
So basically I would have the almost perfect team that would lose to a guy with a team with 4 legendaries with perfect natures and that jazz.
But I really would like the experience and the closest one just HAD to be in Indy but that's the nationals...

myrrh25 April 25th, 2010 9:07 AM

To the original post: Hate to break it to you, but the majority of people there will be there to win, so they will take their time to carefully select each moveset, get near-perfect IV's, and the best possible EV's. They won't be just there to battle for the lolz. ;)

Zeta Sukuna April 25th, 2010 9:48 AM

Eh, even though I live about 2 hours away from one, I'm not going. I'm not a competitive battler, and my parents wouldn't waste the gas money. Maybe in a couple of years when I actually decide not to be lazy and actually build a team, as well as have a license and can afford to go.

Really, it's a hodge podge of things keeping me from going. I want the Eevee, and I want the chance to brag if I somehow did become a regional, or if by some lucky, neigh impossible chance of becoming the National, or even World Champion. But even with an EV'd, IV'd, highly competitive team, I doubt I'd make it too far, since I can't predict moves at all.

Well, as I have tried to point out to others before This is from the website about the Indy one:
Quote:

The Last Chance Qualifier is a one-day event to give players who did not earn an invitation to the National Championships one more opportunity to participate in the Main Event. The Last Chance Qualifier takes place on June 26th at the same location as the National Championships. Please see the National Championships FAQ for more information on the Last Chance Qualifier.
Any of you in the midwest who are concerned about not being able to be in CAN be in regionals the day BEFORE nationals and can win into Nationals.

CoffeeWolf April 26th, 2010 3:26 AM

I'm going to try to go to the one in NJ because it's the day after my birthday, so I may be able to convince my brother or my friends to come. Either that or I'll go on my own.. I'll be 19 so I guess I'm cool like that :P

I have been EV training my Pokemon for the first time in HG. Many of my Pokemon have near-perfect IVs, but I haven't been trying for those yet.

I'm really going for the shiny Eevee! I have one right now, but somebody traded it to me so I'll never know if it's legit (and I'm guessing no). Anyway, it should be cool. Is it possible to just go and watch the battles?

Conor April 26th, 2010 4:01 AM

there isn't one in manchester, theres one in birmingham which isn't too far but i don't think i want to travel that far just to lose haha

FinalMaster April 26th, 2010 10:17 PM

How can they call it it 'world' championship if practically the whole southern hemisphere misses out? NastyPlot-Z won't get a chance to shine here in Australia... has anyone bothered to complain about this to Nintendo? I really want a shiny Eevee, too.

Oh there is a thread <.< lol

I swear I searched for it but nothing showed up. :/

Anyways, I'm attending, working on my team at the moment, so anyone else going to the UK one, may see you there. :P

Crazydusknoir May 26th, 2010 11:29 AM

HGSS Video Game Championships!

I'm really pissed off. My mum won't let me take part in the VGC 'cause she thinks I'm gonna be beat easily. Well, whether I win or lose, that's a stupid reason for not letting me take part!

Anyone else competing, or has already competed? Or is there anyone like me who wants to but can't for a pathetic reason?

Mayfan24 May 26th, 2010 11:33 AM

I went to my cousin's wedding so I couldn't make the one in San Fransisco. I woulda loved to try and go, even if I ran the risk of getting knocked out in the first round.

Lati-Fan95 May 27th, 2010 6:36 AM

I somehow managed to convince my mom to take me there (that's really an achievement when your mom is like, always pissed off of anything you do!^^) !^^ I'm all excited about it and I'm pretty sure I'll make it through the first round and maybe some more rounds... I built up a good team for that but I'm not sure whether I'll make it far since I don't like EV training but oh well...^^ It's still worth visiting, even if you only come to get the Eevee!^^

Guy May 27th, 2010 8:02 AM

Merged your thread on the VGC Championships here with one already made. I agree though, your mom's reasoning on not letting you attend is kind of shallow. :\

I feel so bad for you...parents can be very irritating at times because they don't bother to understand their children's hobbies. :/

I was freaking out about how I was going to attend, because I live in Florida. I kept trying to get my sister and then my friend to go with me because I felt a little worried going by myself to another state (either Atlanta, Georgia or New Jersey). But luckily I found cheap tickets and I'm set for Jersey with my boyfriend. :) I don't know how far I'll go, but I will let you guys know how it goes down.

I know it's not easy for a lot of the people on here to attend because of distance, schedule, and their age. Most parents won't let you travel so far for something they think is "silly." But keep the hope alive for next year. :/

larrysturtle May 27th, 2010 5:42 PM

nahhh the WGC is too far from where i live

sabapple May 27th, 2010 6:05 PM

I've been pestering my parents about bringing me to the one in New Jersey. They keep nodding their heads and stuff but I don't think that they're actually taking me seriously. They think it's stupid that there's actually a "World Championship" for Pokemon. =/ And when I keep asking them if they actually mean that they'll take me, my dad's always like:
'Well, it's two hours away and that's a really bad part of New Jersey...'

.............. T_T I wanna enter and download that Eevee... Dang my parents...

Aww I hope you can go! Maybe we'll go against each other. :D If you're in the senior class...Heck tell them that someone from Miami is flying over to New York, and then taking the bus over to Jersey. You definitely live a lot closer than I do lol. And if they're worried about the "bad area" then they can just stay there and watch you...I'm sure there are going to be security guards and stuff to watch the little kids. Two hours away is really not such a bad trip. Go tell them to hang out at Seaside so they can have fun if watching you is not fun for them. No offense. You gotta go! It's going to be fun.

Kendall May 27th, 2010 8:43 PM

I have a wonderful story to tell about my experience at this year's event.

I went to the one in Phoenix. But everything got ****ed up on the way there. I live about 2 hours north of Phoenix, so me and my friends made sure to leave early.About a quarter of the way there, traffic came to a halt because of a wildfire along the interstate. It wasn't very big, but it was enough to delay us for about an hour and a half. By the time we got there, it was 2 o'clock and registration ended at 1:30. So we were pissed off about that. But there was a "king of the hill" match setup for those who didn't register. So we waited in line for that for 2 hours, only to be the next to play and have the game shutdown because the tournament was over and they had to pack everything up. Sigh. And I worked so hard on my team for it. At least I connected to 8 pokewalkers and battled one guy. I won too, w00t. But still, I was really disappointed.

shuppet88 May 27th, 2010 8:53 PM

Aww sorry to hear that Kendall. Did you at least get an Eevee?

Yeah. Just wish I could rename it though. I like all my pokemon to have nicknames.

TheAppleFreak May 29th, 2010 4:19 PM

So, how long on average do you think it'll take to fully prepare? I have three days after finals end to prepare four Pokémon to relatively high levels with good EV spreads and ideal movesets, not to mention breeding and what not.

Also, what time should I arrive at the tournament to register? I don't want to be like Kendall and arrive too late (sorry to hear that btw), and I know there'll be a line before registration even starts. Is 12:30 a good time?

cystar May 29th, 2010 5:53 PM

def be there by 1230 u dont wnat to go and not particpate

560cool. May 30th, 2010 1:22 AM

Well, I'm in Romania. I suppose the closest competition is/was in Lyon ...
I, however, didn't want to go. There are all sorts of people which travel a lot with a perfect team with perfect IVs, careful EVs, blah blah ...
I never do that, so I usually geot owned in Competitive. Plus, my mom would reject travelling to another country just to play Pokemon, too.
I've also heard (here on PC) about a family which traveled all the way from Scotland to Birmingham and got rejected because the "cap reached its maximal value". Lol, they came from SCOTLAND, a family which plays Pokemon freely and have no idea what an EV is and they get REJECTED ! :(

Kedu May 30th, 2010 2:13 AM

Heh Im going, Working on my team as we speak, I cannot wait, have a little stall team that opens up into a a ground sweeper's with incredible evasiveness.
Wish me luck.

Sneeze May 30th, 2010 6:20 PM

Anyone go to the Birmingham one? If so did you happen to catch where the videos those guys where taking where from? Wanna see if I'm in any of em. :3

Oh cool you went? Did you have fun? I don't think that I'm going to do that well; I'm not trying to be negative, but I don't really know how to do EV/IV's. I just looked at smogon and tried to do similar things with the move sets and used a bunch of pokemon drinks like carbos cuz I have a lot of money in the game. Did you do anything like that?

Sneeze June 2nd, 2010 5:25 AM

Yeah, I did all the EV training and the likes, didn't bother with breeding for IVs though. Unfortunately I didn't get into the actual championship due to queues and the likes so if you going get there at least 3 hours in advance or you won't get it. It was still an enjoyable day though, had a few friendly battles and watched some matches. Good fun.

TheAppleFreak June 9th, 2010 6:36 PM

Well, the NY/NJ/CT regional is this Saturday...
Anyone else other than me going to it?

I'm doing all of my preparation over the next two days. Given what I have in mind, it shouldn't be too difficult to prepare.

One question to those who have gone: how common are Explosion teams and Sandstorm teams?

Niprop June 9th, 2010 6:59 PM

Ahahahahahaha...

Ahehehehehehe...

I was two hours away from yeterday's tournament without realizing it! Gah, if I had payed atention, I could have been there by now! Grr, oh well, I left my central team member (for my primary team, anyways) behind in another game, which is in another DS, across the world, but still...

Digital Wings June 10th, 2010 2:59 PM

I'll be in Jersey! Woohoo~

Cool! I will be too! I wonder if I should hold up a sign saying my screen name. That won't attract too many stalkers will it? :P

How early do you think we should arrive? I'm flying in NY at 8am, so I think we're just going to rent a car and drive to Jersey right away. A couple people on here have said that they drove all the way to the place, registered, and still couldn't participate.

I'll be there as well. We should have a PokéCommunity group there :)

I'm getting in line before 12:30; I don't want to be ousted from the tournament before it even begins. Especially that all I have left in preparation is EV training and filling out the team info sheet as well as getting the hacked Pokémon that I use in ad-hoc tournaments off of my game card to avoid the hack detection.

XxRogueTrainerxX June 11th, 2010 5:10 PM

This is definately something I'd be interested in, but sadly I can't make it.

sabapple June 11th, 2010 6:52 PM

Awww, my parents decided to not bring me to NJ tomorrow. My dad kept insisting on the 'bad part of town' but I kept begging and begging. He ended up going camping with the whole family except me this weekend so I'm home alone with no ride to NJ T_T Depressing, I had my team ready and everything... And no shiny Eevee now... :(

shuppet88 June 12th, 2010 3:01 AM

This is just a bummer for a lot of people it seems. :( I left my house at 3:30 this morning, and sat in the airport waiting for my flight to NY to leave at 5:10. The reason I am sitting here typing to you guys and not on a plane is because the pilots from Spirit Airlines decided today would be a great day to go on strike. Maybe I can go the next time they do something like this :(

TheAppleFreak June 12th, 2010 4:50 PM

Well, I just got home from the Regionals. My advice to any future VGC goer: Arrive early. I cannot stress that enough; I arrived at around 12:20-12:30 and the line already wrapped around the block; turns out I was one of the last entrants to be accepted into the tournament.

Also, fear Rain teams. Fear them a lot.
