Monotype Challenge (Ver. 2.0)

HEY, CHAMP TO BE, Welcome To The HeartGold/SoulSilver MONOTYPE CHALLENGE! This is a challenge where you will have to complete either game using ONE type only. Refer to the rules below before posting something that could easily be answered.

Rules:
1) Dual-Types are allowed.
2) You have beat your challenge when you defeat the Ellite Four, the Champion and ALL of the Gym Leaders, both Johto and Kanto. Don't forget red either.
3) You are allowed to do one type, even if someone else is.
4) It isn't a race, so no need to rush!
5) No trading please, unless it is for evolution purposes (There are exceptions to this).
6) Obviously, no cheating or hacking.
7) You may use emulators.
8) Only use Pokemon under your type
9) At least one Pokemon, must be caught before Violet City. If you have not caught a Pokemon of your type by then, use your starter until you do.
10) Please update frequently, and when you do, try to include what you've done, your team so far, and try to make it interesting.
11) No Legendaries.
12) If your team doesn't have a Pokemon that can use HM moves that you need, you are allowed 1-2 HM slaves that will be able to do those things.
13) You can have a Pokemon that isn't your type if it will evolve into that type at some stage
14) Have fun!
15)If you have a question, contact me via VM, PM, or on this thread.
16)ABSOLUTELY NO RULE BREAKING. I've completed this challenge before and I know it's possible without cheating. I'm considering a No tolerance policy so be wise and play clean.
17)Egg Rule
Spoiler:
Pokemon types that are rare/scarce warrant egg trading. This means the dragon, ice, dark, fighting, steel, ghost and electric types are the only ones to get eggs.

Why electric? I'm only allowing people to bring in a Pichu egg because mareep, chinchou, magnemite, etc are around. Pichu serves as their "starter"

ice: I can vouch for this type and say that it's tough when half your team is acquired in the ice cave.

Dark: most are in the safari zone and that ruins the purpose of monotyping this type.

Dragon: need I say more? Of course this type is rare...

Steel: it's rare...lol

Fighting: from now on I'm only allowing a tyrogue egg to start you off.

Ghost: I haven't decided but prolly only a misdreavus egg or something. You guys decide here.

I'm setting the limit to 3. At most, you can have 3 unless I've said that type only gets one i.e. Fighting, electric,

It is recommended you pick Totodile as a starter since he learns 4 of the 8 HM's. (1,3,5,7) Thanks to Porygon z for pointing that out.

I will start out with a starter (obviously) and catch a Spinarak and a Caterpie and evolve them before Violet gym for my first installment of the challenge (Scyther and Heracross will have to wait a bit).

My entry from the previously locked thread. I haven't updated yet, so that's what I plan to do here.

~All went as planned and I caught a Spinarak and a Caterpie and a Sentret (soon to be HM slave) before the first Gym and placed my starter in storage.
~I evolved the Caterpie into a Butterfree, making Faulkner a walk in the park.
~The trip through Union Cave was a challenge to say the least, with the Rock Pokemon and the Fire Breathers...
~I finally made it to Azalea and saved the Slowpoke. I went into the Gym and beat Bugsy (Butterfree learned Gust and made him easy).
~I made my way to Ilex Forest and had to fight my rival before going inside... My rival, Silver, had a Quilava by this time, and proved a worthy opponent (I still won though).
~Ilex Forest wasn't anything special, and I caught a Paras too!
~I taught the Sentret from before Headbutt which allowed me to catch a Heracross on Route 33.
~My Sentret evolved into a Furret and I now have my HM slave.
~I am now at the base of Goldenrod on Route 34, training my Heracross for the fight with Whitney. It has just learned Brick Break and will prove useful.

My team is as follows:

Heracross Level 19:
Brick Break
Aerial Ace
Horn Attack
Endure

Butterfree Level 20:
Tackle
Sleep Powder
Gust
Confusion

Spinarak Level 20:
Poison Sting
Night Shade
Leech Life
Shadow Sneak

Paras Level 8:
Scratch
Stun Spore
PoisonPowder
Cut

Furret Level 16:
Scratch
Headbutt
Fury Swipes
Quick Attack

So, this is my progress, and I hope I'm still in the contest.

jmd34 April 18th, 2010 2:29 PM

Arcelio April 18th, 2010 2:43 PM

Well, this is actually my first time playing Pokémon HeartGold or SoulSilver, so if I sound really surprised, that's why. I'm doing the Normal-type Challenge, for anyone that's forgotten.

 • Started the no$zoomer and the no$gba with it. Started up my Pokémon SoulSilver ROM, and set off.
 • Named myself 'Gold', as that's what 'Ethan''s name should be in all Pokémon games.
 • Walked downstairs, spoke to my mother, and she gave me, not only the ability to SAVE, but she gave me a bag, a card that I can clip badges to (like I'll ever need that), and... wait for it... OPTIONS! That's right, your mom gives you options. How, I don't know, but she did it.
 • Went outside, only to be attacked by a Marill. I fought valiantly, but I am but a human. Right before the Marill struck the finishing blow, it was whisked away by Lyra/Kotone/Where The **** Crys? My life was spared on this day, and I shall always remember it.
 • Spoke with this extremely rude redheaded boy. He kicked me, just for trying to talk to him! Can you believe that!? The nerve of some people. I think he hurt me too...
 • After being crying to my mom about mean, redheaded brats, I walked off to the Elm Pokémon Lab. There's still that redheaded mean guy standing outside the window, which makes me wonder if he's a stalker. And, if he's a stalker, who exactly is he stalking, and why? Prof. Elm? Does that count as reverse-pedophilia or something?
 • Got to play with the really cool PokéBall Machine. Rotate the balls, then look inside them!
 • Eventually got bored and chose a Totodile, to help me combat the Geodudes as I search for Teddiursa.
 • My new Totodile keeps following me, and showing off his fangs. Help...
 • The weird assistant, that has no first or last name, refuses to help me. Instead, he gives me some Potions. Ones that don't work on humans. So, if Totodile decides to kill me, and I somehow wound it, it can just take the Potions out of my bag and heal itself. How nice of him.
 • Saved three times, just like a separate forum said to do, to make sure the file is actually saved. I still don't get why Nintendo went to such great lengths to protect this game from piracy though. I already bought the game, I just have to wait for it to ship. So, I decided to play the ROM as I wait, only to get a handful of problems. This better not happen with Pokémon Black and White...
 • Walked out of the lab, resigned to my fate.
 • OH DEAR GOD, IT'S THE MARILL AGAIN! TOTODILE, KILL IT!
 • According to Lyra, the Totodile that wants to kill me is cute. Does no one see the killer beast that Totodile hides inside himself other than me?
 • Apparently, I should talk with my Pokémon. Why? They can only say their name, which means their conversations must suck. I know a thousand words, and my conversations still suck.
 • BRB, GONNA GO SHOW THIS KILLING MACHINE TO MY MOTHER.
 • My mother compliments Totodile, like everyone freaking else so far, then gives me my PokéGear. Whatever happened to just giving me a map, a Pokémon, and telling me to get the **** out of the house? That's the way I saw Pokémon Red at least.
 • My mother insists on explaining how to use a phone. Mom, I'm ten. I think I understand the basics of a phone. Why I have to go out with this bloodthirsty creature and hurt other animals is what really baffles me. Isn't this animal abuse?
 • Finally spoke to my Totodile. He was staring intently at the sky. When I reminded him that you can't kill the sky, he glared at me.
 • Why is there an exclamation point coming out of my skull? ...I blame Totodile.
 • Prof. Elm gave me his PokéGear number. Why, I'm not too sure. If this guy turns out to be a pedophile, I'm moving to Cherrygrove. He then tells me he'll call is 'something comes up', which sounds like an innuendo.
 • Walked out onto Route 101. The adventure begins! Started walking through the grass to reach Cherrygrove. I could have sworn someone said that Wild Poké...
 • OH DEAR GOD, WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT RAT!? Why is it purple!? Is that blood!? Kill it, Totodile!
 • Totodile killed it with minimal effort, showing its true nature as a feared, ferocious killer with no remorse for the living.
 • Okay, now a pigeon appeared. Not as strange as the killer rat, but not exactly normal. Why is it brown though? Aren't pigeons usually black or white?
 • That pigeon hit my Pokémon! This transgression can not go unpunished! Totodile, destroy!
 • Totodile learned Water Gun. Yeah, that's just what I needed. Give it more weapons to take me out with.
 • Talked to a guy that was waiting for a Pokémon that appears at night. Wouldn't it make more sense to just go to sleep during the day, wake up at night, and then go look for it?
 • I found a tree! It doesn't have anything on it though, except for leaves, which I can't take because.... wait, why can't I take the leaves!?
 • Found another rat, only this one looks more squirrel-like. Doesn't matter though, cause Totodile killed it before I could get a better look at it, that bastard.
 • After Totodile murdered all those poor animals, we finally reached Cherrygrove. Let me tell you, if this is how the entire journey is going to be like, I wanna retire now...

Arcelio April 18th, 2010 6:56 PM

Well, I'm bored again, so I figure that I might as well continue where I left off.

 • After entering Cherrygrove, I was attacked by an extremely excited old man that wanted to, and I quote, 'teach me a few things'. Out of pure fear, I follow the man, but make sure that he doesn't walk behind me. He tries anything, Totodile's eating him instead of an Oran Berry.
 • Old man gave me some Running Shoes, which confuses me. So, in this entire world, you need to have these type of shoes to run? What happens if you don't; you get arrested? Yeah, because the police force in Pokémon World is obviously effective. That's why Giovanni, Team Rocket, Team Magma and Aqua, and Team Galactic were so successful. They weren't powerful, but the police, apparently, don't do anything.
 • Why exactly did the old man show me his house? Totodile... Okay, now he gave me a Map Card, which should come in handy when I'm trying to avoid these thinly veiled pedophiles. Once again, what the hell does the police force do?
 • Turned on my iPod, and searched through all my music to find the 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' Original Soundtrack. I don't know why, but I keep finding Japanese music really catchy these days.
 • Walked in the tall grass, and found a brown pigeon, even browner than the other one. It growled at Totodile, which led to the devouring of its soul. Maybe I should keep Totodile on a leash...?
 • Found a Potion lying on the ground. Okay, seriously, who keeps dropping all this crap on the ground? Seriously, why don't you just take a Max Repel and spray it at the sky if you want to jump-start global warming, you prick.
 • Found another tree that refuses to give me things. If I had Cyndaquil, I would burn all these trees to the ground. Wait, wouldn't that mean I'm just as bad as the guy that keeps dropping items...
http://forum.vgcats.com/images/smilies/emotpsypopcy1.gif

 • This strange man literally starts screaming at me because I didn't barge into his house. He's so lucky Totodile doesn't like the taste of *******s, otherwise I'd have him attack this maniac. Then, he says something about our meeting being 'meant to be' or something. Can this be a meeting? I thought a meeting was when both parties actually give a damn what the other has to say. Dude gives me a box, as if I don't have enough crap to lug around. Does no one realize that a ten-year-old boy isn't that strong? I swear, this whole quest has to fall under some section of child-abuse.
 • I found an Antidote. I'm going to laugh if I someone dropped this after their Pokémon was Badly Poisoned.
 • This Youngster brat started yelling at me, even though he was getting his ass kicked in a battle. What a prick. And, to top it off, they won't let me through. Why I can't just pull myself over the ledge is anyone's guess. Maybe I just lack the upper body strength...
 • Another one of these damn mutated purple rats. Totodile, just... you know what? Screw it. Do whatever the hell it is that you do that kills everything you touch.
 • After the battle, if you can call it that, Totodile Leveled-Up. This proves that hurting other people makes you better than them. I would say that the rat can testify for that, but... dead rats tell no tails (It's a pun. Laugh, dammit).
 • I found another weird pigeon, but this one had sparkles around it at first. That means that it's somehow related to the sparkling vampire, Edward Cullen! I... must... kill!
 • Killed the worst character ever created, and just kept on walking. As I destroyed it, I think I saw some respect in Totodile's eyes. This proves that everything, be it human or Pokémon, hates Twilight. No exceptions.
 • Finally arrived at Mr. Pokémon's house. Seriously, there's no way that this guy's real name is Pokémon. No-freaking-way. He's named after an entire race of suped-up killing machines? Okay then. Just call me Gold Skynet while you're at it, you pretentious ass.
 • Mr. Pretentious gives me an Egg, that supposedly, has a Pokémon in it. So all Pokémon come from Eggs, huh? Explain Mewtwo then, know-it-all. Then, to top it off, the old guy forces me to rest at his house. Can you freaking believe it? I'm turning this Egg into an omelet the next chance I get.
 • Prof. Oak tells me that... wait. Wait, wait, wait. Hold on a damn second. Prof. Oak? That's two damn Prof. that I've met in just one day. How many of you are there? And why the hell are you in Johto? Isn't the Magnet Train broken?
 • Anyways, Prof. Oak gives me a Pokédex. I wonder if I can get WiFi service on this thing. Why didn't he just create a PokéGear Card that has all the data for the PokéDex and give that to me instead? People really don't think things through, do they? Then, this old Prof. orders me to go out and meet new Pokémon. Are you kidding? I've met five of them so far, one of which is a vicious killer, two of them are pigeons, and two are mutated members of the rat family. And you want me to go and see more of them? Right before he leaves, he demands my phone number. You know, it just seems like I should stop giving out my number to suspected pedophiles.
 • Prof. Elm calls me. Apparently, there's a problem at the Lab. Maybe the FBI finally found his hard-drive of CP, and he needs me to bail him out? Nah, I'm not that lucky.
 • On the way back, Totodile Leveled-Up and learned Rage. Wait... so Totodile didn't already know Rage? He was just that pissed off normally?! Oh crap...
 • Well, well, well. If it isn't the rude, redheaded kid. What the hell do you want? Did you just call me a wimp? My Pokémon kills things. What does yours do, other than play with the stupid leaf on its skull? And why the hell did your parents name you Passerby Boy? Do they seriously hate you that much? Judging by how much of a prick you are, I'd have to say yes.
 • I then proceeded to beat Passerby Boy like the redheaded stepchild that he really is. Serves him right for calling me a wimp. He asks me if I want to know who he is, then he doesn't even give me enough time to answer 'I don't give a crap'. Seriously, it's rude to ask questions, and then answer them without letting the other person talk. But I guess that's why your father abandoned you (SPOILER... wait... maybe that should have gone before the spoiler... crap).
 • Also, before he left, I robbed his punk-ass. Stole his trainer card, and saw his name. Apparently, his parents weren't cruel enough to name him Passerby Boy, instead choosing to name him Silver. And I'm Gold. And the last Pokémon League Champion was Red, while the Viridian City Gym Leader is Blue. What the hell are our parents smoking when they decided to name us after colors? Are all our parents hippies or something?
 • I can finally steal from trees! Take that, Nature! Man triumphs once again! Apparently, you can't rob the same tree twice in one day. I'll be back tomorrow, mother****er. Made it back to New Bark Town, and entered the Pokémon Lab.
 • Holy crap, it's a cop! Did Elm really get busted for CP? Nope, as usual, the cops try to arrest me cause I'm black. Not-Crys steps in and yells at the cop, saying how Silver was the real culprit, or something. The cop asks me for a name, and if Silver wasn't such a prick earlier, I wouldn't have said anything. Unfortunately, that isn't the case. Good luck with the Party Van coming after you, Silver.
 • After the 5-0 leave, I show Elm the Egg. He was freaking out badly. You'd swear he'd never seen an Egg before. Then he tells me he knew I was different, and that things are going to get fun. Needless to say, I quickly got the hell out of that Lab, and left New Bark Town. Stupid damn pedophile professors.
 • As soon as I leave town, Lyra hands me my balls, and teaches me how to catch monsters... like it's that freaking hard. You hit them, they get weak, then you take out your balls and throw them at the monster. Once again, I'm not an idiot. After giving me back my balls, Lyra leaves to god-knows-where. Good riddance. That Marill was about to get the ass-kicking of a lifetime after the stunt it pulled earlier.

Here's Day Three of my Pokemon HG/SS Mono-type Challenge, now with 100% more Userbar!

 • Boot up no$gba and began my Challenge where I left off, on Route 29.
 • Found a Sentret and, instead of having Totodile kill it, I captured it with a PokéBall. That means Totodile is leaving the team soon (thank God). Sentret is glaring at me, even though I basically stole its freedom. How strange. Just for that, you're walking next to me, Sentret. I nicknamed him Ms. Ferret, because of his evolution.
 • Found another Sentret, but I didn't like this one, so I had Totodile kill it. Sucks to be him, I guess.
 • Went up to Route 46, in search of Teddiursa.
 • Found yet another pigeon. Only difference is, this one's wings seem to be red. I caught it anyways, along with a Ratatta, just to say I did. Spearow, I will be using though, mostly due to Pidgey sucking badly. Ratatta sucks too, compared to Sentret, so don't expect to see Ratatta battling with me. Nicknamed Spearow 'Rage Bird', because he always looks pissed off at everything.
 • I have yet to find the bear I'm looking for, and I'm getting pissed off...
 • Became ENRAGED when I learned that you can only catch Teddiursa either near the end of the game, or by going through Dark Cave. I had Totodile slaughter everything that was on Route 46. Stupid damn Google said I could catch a Teddiursa on Route 46...
 • Started training Spearow, which basically consisted of me sending him out, then switching with Totodile, and netting free EXP.
 • Left Route 46, still pissed off that I was denied my Teddiursa. The reason I picked the Normal-type for this Challenge in the first damn place was because I thought I could get a Teddiursa early, then take it through the entire game. I was lied to.
 • Made it to Cherrygrove City without being attacked by Wild Pokémon, because at this point, they know better than to try.
 • Went to the PokéCenter, accessed the Computer, and dropped Totodile and Ratatta in there for good. Sorry, but this is Normal-types only, Totodile. And Ratatta... go die in a fire. You suck.
 • Logged off the computer and... HOLY ****! GLITCH, GLITCH, MOTHER****ING GLITCH! Everyone's body is completely gone! What the ****!? I gotta get the hell out of this place!
 • Got the hell out of that place.
 • Whew, I'm back to normal. Thank you, Jesus. You saved me back there, from the people with no bodies, and for that, I thank you.
 • Went north to Route 30, and got swarmed by Wild Pokémon after they realized my killing machine was dropped off in the PC. Time to introduce them to Spearow then.
 • That poor Weedle never had a snowball's chance in hell.
 • Neither did that Kakuna.
 • I encountered a Wild Pidgey. Sadly, it was not a Shiny Pidgey, so it had to be eliminated to draw out the Shiny Pidgey.
 • You know, this is one thing that bothers me. Why is it that Weedle don't have the ability 'Poison Point'? I mean, you can see the freaking poisonous barb on its skull, can't you? Also, why doesn't Sentret get the 'Pickup' ability? Pokémon is ****ing confusing, I'll tell you that much.
 • Fought Youngster Joey, and the little prick took my PokéGear Number. Just great. Now I get to look forward to great calls such as 'My Ratatta killed a Pidgey', or 'My Ratatta is so strong', or whatever else the ******* has on his mind. Note to self: every time Youngster Joey calls for a rematch, accept. Then, methodically murder his Ratatta to teach him to shut his damn mouth. I should have told him no, but I couldn't for some reason. Maybe I'm too nice?
 • Sent some Prize Money back to Mom, because Gold is a good boy!
 • Okay, I'm still pretty pissed off at the lack of Teddiursa in my party, so I'm calling it quits for today. Tomorrow, Violet City and Sprout Tower will be taken by storm!

Future Team Thoughts: Well, as soon as I can, I've gotta catch a Bellsprout. It can, if I remember correctly, Cut and Flash, which is exactly what I need to get through Dark Cave. Rock Smash can be taught to Totodile (which will also be my Surf/Whirlpool/Waterfall HM SLAVE). Fly, I can teach to my Spearow (which should be a Fearow around the time I get to the Fly HM), and Strength I can teach to Sentret (which would be a Furret at that point), to give it a hard hitting Normal-type attack. That takes care of all seven HMs, and one TM. The next Pokemon I'll be catching is an Aipom, which I can get on Route 46 (SOUTH, unlike Teddiursa), and then a Tauros and Miltank, followed by Teddiursa. If I can't find a Miltank, I'll settle for a Snubble. Doing the Normal-type Challenge is freakin' difficult. I have to rely on Furret, Fearow, and Ambipom (all of them should have evolved by then) until I get to Ecruteak, and then I have to go catch a Tauros and Miltank/Snubbull. Normal-types get a lot of TMs, but they're so freaking far away from each other. Troublesome...

Edit: Okay, after looking over the GameFaqs FAQ, I found out that Meowth can be caught on Route 38/39, and that Snubbull has a 1% chance of showing up without a Swarm going on. Actually, maybe I'll just say no to both of them and get my free Eevee from Bill. I mean, Eevee's stats aren't terrible, and it does get Bite, which would help with Morty... Togepi is another option, and a rather good one. If I can get my hands on a Dawn Stone early on, Togekiss could easily become my main Pokemon. Looks like this Sixth Slot is completely up for grabs. I suppose I can train all of them, and then just change the slot whenever I get bored of with a Pokemon. It's always good to have backups, right?

Edit #2: I just found out that the only way I can get a Dawn Stone is through either Mt. Silver or the Pokeathalon. FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU---

UPDATE

So , I Made My way to Goldenrod defeating every trainer I could . Answered a quizz to get myself the radio x) . I then cleaned up Whitney's gym , pretty easily . Started the fight with whitney telling myself : *Omg , i've heard she's hard , what's my level 24 Quagsire and my 22 slowpoke gonna do ? Then the battle starts. She throws out clefairy . I'm like okay... what... wait'a'minute ! I put clefairy to sleep. I do 5 Curses. When it wakes up , I kill it . Then comes Miltank and i'm like Oh boy , here's the BAWSS. Then guess what? Slowpoke is Oblivious so she couldn't attract Him :) and her stomp attack? It did 4 damage LAWLS so i just 2 Hit KOed her miltank with heabutt . yeah... a 3 minute battle I think... x). Then I went all the way to Olivine without encountering a trainer , got my hands on a good rod and fished a Poliwag :).I did the Burnt tower event and i'm currently off to challenge Morty's Gym !

 • Beat all the Trainers on Route 30, and moved onto Route 31.
 • Found a Bellsprout on my first patch of grass on Route 31. Spearow killed it shortly afterwards. Goddammit.
 • Caught a LV. 3 Bellsprout with minimal effort. I should really get a Hoothoot, just to have a Pokemon with Hypnosis. Say what you want about HootHoot's stats, but it's a decent early-game Sleep-inducer. Gastly is a much better replacement once you can get it though, especially considering its evolution's speed (Gengar) is through the roof.
 • Met up with Kotone in this weird guardhouse building. She, instead of giving me balls this time, gave me a V.S. Recorder, which is basically a dumbed-down version of a video camera. I'd say it's a great gift, but I'd be lying.
 • I found some strange blonde that wants Shards to trade for Berries. So, he wants me to give up sharp objects that I can use to defend myself, for berries? I never knew there were drugs in the Pokemon world. The more you know...
 • Entered the PokeCenter to heal up, but I didn't deposit Bellsprout in a Box yet. I'm gonna need him for Flash soon, and Cut later on, so I don't see the harm in keeping him around.
 • I've gotta say, I'm really digging the revamp of Violet City. Looks nice, and I like the streetlights.
 • Entered Sprout Tower and placed Spearow at the front of the pack. Time to kick some Bellsprout ass.
 • Got my first call from Joey... at 10:40 PM. Are you freaking kidding me? You know what he called me about? He called me, to tell me how he beat a Hoothoot. No, I am not joking. This little asstard called me to tell me about a Pokemon that he's beaten, one that I've beaten countless times before. I'm deleting this prick from my PokeGear. Call me in the middle of the night again and watch what happens.
 • PokeGear won't let me delete numbers! Gayest... thing... ever.
 • Took out all my rage on the Sages in Sprout Tower. I'm starting to feel better. Oh yeah, I met Silver again in the Tower. He's still just as much of a prick as he was last time, only this time, he didn't battle me. Scared much?
 • Beat the Elder with my LV. 10 Sentret. Who's the wise one now, old man? Said old man gave me TM 70, which is FLASH. I'll be using that on Bellsprout, and then, after kicking Faulkner's ass, we'll be taking a trip into Dark Cave.
 • Walked down Sprout Tower instead of wasting a free Escape Rope, returned to the PokeCenter, SAVED my game, and took a small break to read the 'Let's Play' of Firered that I was reading earlier.
 • Went to school, cause real life is such a drag.

xxChazxx April 20th, 2010 1:08 PM

UPDATE:

I beat Whitney with Heracross, though it was really close. I thought the her Rollout would have got me, but Heracross's defense was higher than I thought, so I won!

In the Ecruteak City gym, my Spinarak evolved and made things a lot easier.

I beat Morty with Ariados and Butterfree thanks to Ghost/Psychic type moves! He put up little challenge until Gengar, who KO'd my Ariados (who had taken quite a beating before now) with Shadow Ball, Butterfree stepped up to the plate and, after putting it to sleep, took down Morty's Gengar and won me the badge!

I am currently breeding for an adamant Scyther to get a Scizor, the Metal Coat will come from an unlucky Magneminte who have been rumored to hold them. Upon trading for an evolution with no exp., I am expecting it to learn Bullet Punch, starting up a good moveset and making my team all that stronger. As I am allowed up to 2 HM Slaves, I plan on replacing Furret with a water type to take advantage of the HM's bugs cannot use.

My team so far:

Heracross Level 23:

Endure

Butterfree Level 23:

Ariados Level 26:

Paras Level 9:

After some grueling subjection to Sprout tower, My Totodile went into shock (@ level 12) when attempting to help train my newly caught Zubat. Since the experience, Totodile refuses to battle ever again. He'll be my HM slave instead. Zubat has gained an interest in slaughtering Bellsprouts and Rattatas.

I appreciate how often you update. Keep it up guys =]

I'll pick up my ice challenge soon, I just gotta sort some things out.

xxChazxx April 20th, 2010 2:56 PM

Short Update:

After only 12 eggs, I got my Adamant Scyther! It's a male, and has Technician (the ability I was hoping for!). It knows Leer, Endure, Brick Break, and Aerial Ace. I bred with my Heracross which explains the strange moves. I don't know the IV's and I don't know how to find them out, but I don't much care honestly.

Now to initiate the complicated trade process. I only have Diamond, so I have to trade it to Diamond without a Metal Coat (never got one from the few Magnemites I caught... But I have on on my Diamond file, so it's all good anyway) and trade back with one to get a Scizor with Bullet Punch (starting the awesome moveset).

More updates to come, peace!

And the game begins for me again. Let's pick up where I left off, shall we?
 • Wow. I've gotta say, Violet City looks nice during the afternoon. I could definitely get used to this place. Sadly, I'm a man with a (unwanted) mission, so no resting for me.
 • Entered the Violet City Gym, intent on kicking Faulkner's ass badly.
 • I love this Gym! It's got a freaking elevator, and you battle atop high-beams. But, this is no time to start admiring the scenery, so I take a few steps forward, and step right into the line of sight of a Bird Catcher. Sentret, it's time to destroy!
 • Abe, your Level 9 Spearow is no match for my Level 11 Sentret!
 • Defeated the next Trainer before Faulkner, before challenging the man himself. Oh, this is gonna be good. The faster I kick your ass, the faster I get to move on to the next Gym.
 • During battle, I gain a Level, to reach Level 12! However, Faulkner's Pidgeotto is still a level ahead of us. No matter! If Sentret should fall, Spearow will gladly take his place.
 • Mother****ing Pidgeotto has Roost! Damn you, Pidgeotto!
 • Holy ****! Sentret died to a Tackle attack, and, in exchange, Spearow used Fury Attack FIVE TIMES, one of which was a Critical Hit!
 • I healed Spearow with a Potion, and Pidgeotto responds with a Tackle.
 • Pidgeotto uses Gust, and I just barely live, with about 2 HP left. 2 is more than enough, as Fury Attack strikes, smacking down this annoying bird once and for all, and earning me a Zephyr Badge!
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/4a/Zephyr_Badge.png

 • Yay! Also, as a gift, he gives me a TM! TM 51 to be exact, which I guess I'll have to save for Togetic/Togekiss. And speaking of Togekiss...
 • As soon as I walk out the Gym, I get a call on my PokeGear from Prof. Elm! Time to get me a Togepi Egg! And for once, I actually plan on keeping it with me!
 • As soon as I reach the PokeMart, I spot a suspicious man dressed in red. Naturally, I walk up and talk to him, only for him to ask me whether or not my name was Gold. Obviously, I answer in the positive, only for him to give me a Super Potion! Thanks, Mom!
 • Got my Egg from the Lab Assistant, the prick that refused to help me when Totodile was out for my blood.
 • Picked up ten PokeBalls while I'm at the Mart, since I might need them soon. I'll have to catch an Aipom after finding the Move Tutor for Headbutt, so I figure that I might as well stock up on my balls while I'm here.
 • After walking out of the PokeMart, I was basically assaulted by a kimono wearing woman. Seriously, all the weird crap happens to me, always. First, I get introduced to about three pedophiles in one day, then one of them gives me a rabid animal, another gives me a machine that I can't hack to play games, or use to get on the Internet, another tries to pawn off his old shoes to me, a Marill tried to kill me in broad daylight, got handed my balls, and found a mutated purple rat. Did I take some LSD before I left New Bark Town?
 • After the strange lady leaves, I walk off to the Pokemon Center, intent on healing up my pals. Now, off to Dark Cave! Oh... wait. I don't have any Pokemon to deal with Geodude. Actually, I was hoping that Faulkner would give me the TM for Mud-Slap. This... could be problematic.
 • Set my sights southward bound, ready for the Level Grinding of my life. If I'm going to get through this cave with a Sentret and Spearow, I'm going to need all the levels I can get.
 • Okay... the Ruins of Alpha are creepy looking. Even more so than the original G/S/C.
 • I'm tempted to teach my Sentret Rock Smash to get through this, and any other caves that will appear in the future. However, I have no idea when I may, or may not, get the TM Brick Break. I guess I should look it up...
 • Yeah, apparently, the only way I'm getting it is going through Battle Frontier, earning 48 Points, and then getting it. Yeah... no dice. Sorry Sentret. Once we've reached Blackthorn City, I'll have you forget this terrible attack. Until then, you'll just have to grin and bear it. Hey, at least it has a chance to lower defense.
 • ... Are you freaking kidding me? Sentret can't even learn Rock Smash!? Are you ****ing kidding me!? When the **** was this decided, and by who!? So you're telling me that Sentret can't learn Rock Smash, but Bidoof can? Go to hell, Nintendo. C'mon, Sentret. We're leaving. This is ********...
 • Battled my way through a vicious purple snake, only to be challenged. I've gotta say though, I'm liking Zubat's new sprite. I may have to start a Poison-type Challenge after this, just for that.
 • Registered Picnicker Liz in my PokeGear because a, she's a chick, and b, she can't possibly be more irritating than Joey and his damn Ratatta. I don't even answer that bastard's calls anymore.
 • Found some Hoppip, which were killed in the name of science.
 • Found a Mareep, which I can't use during this Challenge :(. Sadly, I have to end you, Mareep. I need to save my PokeBalls for Pokemon I intend on using, and sadly, that isn't you. Goodnight, sweet prince.
 • After being forced to end one Mareep, another showed up. I don't know what to do... Spearow... make it painless.
 • OH GODDAMMIT! Another one. They have to be doing this on purpose at this point.
 • Finally, I encountered an Ekans. Wait... don't Ekans eat Spearow? Oh sh-!
 • I believe that I just rolled a Critical. Sorry, Ekans. Looks like you'll have to try harder.
 • Found a Great Ball lying in the grass. Who throws these things away?
 • Found a TM for the attack Bullet Seed. Once again, nothing on my team can use it.
 • Taught Spearow Pursuit, since it could come in handy once we reach Morty.
 • This annoying fat man keeps pestering me to buy a SlowpokeTail. Then, after I turn lard-ass down, he tells me to scram! How rude! I should kick your ass for that, but I'm a benevolent man, so I shall turn the other cheek... for now.
 • Made it to the PokeCenter outside of Union Cave. Healed up my team, and departed for Azalea Town.
 • After a battle with a Bird Catcher, Sentret evolved at the tender level of 15! This is great news for me, since this gives me a Pokemon with a decent chance of combating the Rock-type Pokemon in Union Cave. Spearow can take them out too, with Leer+Fury Attack, provided they don't have Rock Throw, which they won't until around Level 11 (for Geodude at least).
 • Grinded until reaching Level 16 for both Furret and Spearow. Saved my game, and turned off no$gba. Today was a good day.

Quick update. I've forgone fighting the 8th gym until I get my second party the mid 50s. So far I've raised my Pokemon thusly:

52 Magneton
47 Exeggutor
43 Arcanine
22 Noctowl (still)
43 Rhydon
40 Kingdra

I was working on getting Exeggcute to 47 for Psychic, that way I could evolve him into Exeggcutor for Leaf Storm.

Got my Noctowl to 35 now, and I got Arcanine to 45. I've been getting **** on by Blue in the 8th gym. I'm thinking of just taking my Bug team out again and finishing up the game. =/

Damn Red is gonna be a beast.

An astounding battle took place starring Z's Zubat and Falkner's team. Zubat silences Pidgey with little effort. When it came to Pidgeotto, there was struggle and a lot of luck involved. In the end, no potions were required, thus Z obtained her first badge and TM gift.

As per normal gameplay, the mystery egg was obtained with the second Pokemon of her team: Togepi (Togekiss). A fair amount of solitary training and searching later, Z stumbled upon her third necessary team member Hoppip. Caution took play in catching the mischievous lightweight bulb. Hoppip was trained in-turn through stubborn perfection and endless patience.

The 'Flying Spirit' team now heads for the damp tunnels of Union Cave.

As for Totodile? He wanted to remain in Z's PC where it was safe from any Bellsprouts.

Got a Scizor at level 1 after the trade and it did indeed learn Bullet Punch. It also learned Quick Attack and is now at level 9 and moving up quite fast.

Zanel April 21st, 2010 3:11 PM

Through a cave and under the rain- Z's team grew to the town of Azalea. The group saved a few Slowpoke, battled Rival S (Silver) and found some missing Farfetch'd. Bugsy's gym was a breeze when it came to Z's newly evolved Golbat; the high levels allowed Togepi to train solo for a few rounds.

After obtaining their second badge, the group doubled back to present Togepi to Professor Elm. Hoppip took her turn in evolution and became Skiploom. Totodile wanted to help with the exception of just being an observer, so he learned Cut. Elm rewarded Z with the Everstone, and the Flying Spirit team traversed onto Goldenrod.

Z began saving up to obtain the fourth party member Dratini. There wasn't much in the way of Golbat and Skiploom's competitive natures, although it made Z wonder if it was out of self-growth or jealousy that made the duo battle so. Whitney's team fell easy prey to the combination of Skiploom/Golbat, thus Z's team was rewarded their third badge. They cleaned up a stubborn tree and began to expand their training beyond Ecruteak. Skiploom exceeded Golbat's chain and blossomed into Jumpluff.

Zanel April 21st, 2010 6:49 PM

It might have been logged too soon- Crobat emerged 1.5 levels later. At least she and Jumpluff are determined in these expeditions...one way or another.

The team adventured to the lighthouse, after welcoming Dratini: plowing through trainers and facing the ocean's horizon in order to save the ill Ampharos. Cianwood's pharmacist was more than happy to lend a strong remedy, thus Z and her group migrated back to Olivine. A female Mantine was picked up along the way.

Back-tracking to Ecruteak, Flying Spirit team faced Silver for a third time. There was potential struggle with that Magnemite of his, but nothing so bad that Crobat and Jumpluff couldn't pull through [in the end]. Crobat proved his worth in Ecruteak's Gym: enduring damage only once. Natu, the final member, was caught in the Ruins of Alph with one toss of a Pokeball.

Flying Spirit is undergoing extensive training currently.

 • Furret is able to learn Rock Smash, which gives it a great tool for fighting against Rock and Steel-type Pokemon. Not the best choice, obviously, but you've gotta take what you can get, right? Replaced Foresight with Rock Smash, seeing as Spearow, which will have evolved into a Fearow at that point, will be more than enough to take on the Ecruteak Gym.
 • Got a Shell Bell after Furret broke a rock near Union Cave. Yay.
 • Gave the Shell Bell to Furret for Union Cave, and I'll give it to Spearow once we get to Azalea Town.
 • Went into Union Cave, and took an immediate north turn. I plan on exploring as much of the cave as possible on the first go.
 • Returned to the above floor, and went southward this time.
 • Nabbed a TM (Rock Tomb), X Defend, X Attack, and a Great Ball. Not bad, as far as cave plundering goes.
 • As soon as I take a step outside, I realize its pouring outside. How strange...
 • I've gotta admit, that as cheesy as it sounds, the rain looks beautiful. Maybe its just one of my oddities, but I've always found the rain extremely calming, preferring to walk in rain storms than walk during a cloudless day.
 • Heh heh, Machop looks like he's trying to be a superhero.
 • After entering the border of Azalea Town, the rain died down, which made me sad. I walked in on a conversation with a Team Rocket member, and an older unknown male. They were talking about Team Rocket breaking up, then the Rocket hit the older male. That's kinda mean...
 • I went into town and entered the PokeCenter, healing up my Furret and Spearow. Gotta take care of my buddies, right?
 • I got a call from Liz, so I figured it would be polite to answer. She called me to talk about another guy, which is something no guy ever wants, ever. Not only is it awkward, but it kind of makes you feel crappy. Just a little tip for the girls reading this...
 • Left the PokeCenter and spoke with Kurt. He ran off to Slowpoke Well in a huff, which is kind of dangerous. I suppose I should back him up, in case anything happens.
 • Ran to Slowpoke Well, only to find both Kurt and the Rocket 'Guard' gone. They must have gone inside.
 • Well, it looks like Kurt took a tumble down the well, hurting his back badly. I suppose that means I'll be taking over. I go deeper into Slowpoke Well, and begin my first battle against a Team Rocket Grunt.
 • Kept moving through the Well, defeating all Rockets that dare attempt to stop me.
 • Walked up to a strange, blue-haired Rocket. Apparently, his name is Proton, and he's a Rocket Executive. That means he's easily superior to the Grunts that I've trashed. I wonder by how much.
 • Hm, I guess I was wrong. Mr. Executive wasn't difficult at all. Kurt congratulated me on a job well done, after all the Rockets escaped simultaneously. Maybe they all carry Escape Rope, so they can make a quick getaway?
 • Gave Kurt two Apricorns, and, in exchange, he'll make them into balls. He's basically taking my nuts, and turning them into balls. Nice.
 • I'm gonna take a small nap, but the next thing on the list is my duel with the Trainers of the Azalea Town Gym.
 • Just like the common cold, I’m back… back again. Guess who’s back? … I’ll stop now.
 • Azalea’s Gym looks mighty different than the way I remember it. I don’t remember a spider taking me from platform to platform.
 • With the death of a Beedrill, my Spearow gains another Level, learning the devastating Flying-type attack, Aerial Ace. Sadly, the Spearow family doesn’t get Brave Bird (at least, not that I know of), so Aerial Ace will have to do for the rest of the game, or at least until I get the Fly HM. Or until I learn Drill Peck.
 • Solved the mystery of the spider platform, and stood up against Bugsy. Your bugs will be swept away in a daring gust of wind, Bugsy!
 • Beat Bugsy in a blaze of glory. I’ll give the kid this much though; his Scyther was a real pain in the ass. Quick Attack was his main weapon, but I should be happy he didn’t teach it Swords Dance. Got me a new badge!
 •
 • Sweet! Got the TM for U-turn, which I’ll be saving. For who, I’m not sure. I know that Spearow/Fearow can learn it, as can Furret and Aipom. The only question is who needs it more? I’ll save it for now, and use it when I feel that it should be used.
 • Kurt took my Black Apricorns, and gave me back my Heavy Balls. Isn’t that nice of him? Even though, it’s kind of weird that an old man is handing me my balls, heavy ones at that. I liked it better when Lyra did it…
 • Only after the Gym Battle do I realize that I forgot to switch the Shell Bell from Furret’s possession to Spearow’s. Goddammit.. I’ve got a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach, so I’m gonna make like a tree and get the hell out of here. Wait… I think I told that joke wrong.
 • Oh son of a *****! Can’t you just leave me along, you red-headed prick!? I don’t care if you want to be strong, I don’t care that you stole your first Pokémon, and I don’t care that you hate Team Rocket. Leave already! For Christ’s sake, haven’t you done enough?
 • Apparently, Silver didn’t want to listen, so I beat him like his father should have done when Silver started his emo tantrums. Also, I have a lot of nerve, for just being in a damn town. Geez, what an *******.
 • Silver says something about strong and weak, and then runs off again. I should have that bastard put down. He’s becoming way too troublesome.
 • Entered Ilex Forest, only to find out some noob lost a Farfecth’d. Great, now I’ve gotta go find it. I sneak up on the pesky bird and capture it, bringing it back to the (failing) Trainer. Wait a minute… there are two Farfetch’d? Damn kid… you really do suck.
 • OH SHI-! The Egg hatched today! It’s a Togepi! Hell yes!
 • Caught the second Farfetch’d, the little prick. I swear, my job keeps changing. First, I was a delivery-boy, and then an information gatherer, then a Trainer, then a Farfetch’d capturer. I swear, this is the last time I do any good deed for anyone.
 • Finally, the ‘Cut Master’ shows up, gives me the HM for Cut, and leaves. Good thing too, since they were starting to piss me off. I’m already in a foul mood because of the redhead, and I don’t need any more crap from anyone today. I just wanna go, and catch my Aipom in peace.
 • I still need Headbutt, which means going deeper into this god forsaken forest. Damn it all.
 • Okay, found a random fat guy in a forest. Not really surprising, until the guy STARTS RAMMING A DAMN TREE! Why?! Why ram a tree? What the hell did it do to you, *******?! Apparently, he was using Headbutt, which makes him even stupider than I thought. He was ramming his skull into a tree… I hope he gets a concussion and falls into a coma. He’d deserve it.
 • Had Furret forget Scratch to learn Headbutt. Now, BACK TO CHERRYGROVE!
 • Some ******* starting screaming at me. Or roaring. One of the two. Anyways, he gave me a free TM.
 • After rechecking my guide, it turns out that Aipom can be caught in Azalea Town… damn it. Back to Azalea Town it is.
 • Found an Aipom on my very first Headbutt! I threw a Great Ball at it, since my Pokémon would end up slaughtering it if they attacked.
 • This stupid damn Aipom refuses to get in the ****ing ball! So I killed it. An example has been made out of that ****er.
 • Caught the next one on my first Pokéball. Looks like she knew better. It has Pickup, which means that it’ll have Technician when it evolves (I think).
 • Togepi evolved rather quickly, only at Level 10. Talk about friendship… I got a new Togetic!
 • After checking Togetic’s nature, I found out that it does have Serene Grace, and not Hustle! Yes!
 • Now I’ve got three-out-of-four members of my final team, Fearow/Furret/Ambipom(Current Aipom)/Togekiss(Currently Togetic). Now all that’s left is to catch a Teddiursa, which I’ll do after getting Rock Smash/Strength (whichever is needed to get to the higher part of Route 46), and catch a Tauros near the outskirts of Ecruteak City. After that, I’ll catch a Miltank and Snubbull if I can manage it. Jigglypuff don’t show up till later, and neither do Clefairy, so I guess Fearow/Furret/Ursaring/Ambipom/Togekiss/Tauros will have to keep me safe until Mt. Moon, or a Snubbull swarm.
 • Saved my game after a hard day’s grinding, and went to sleep.

That usually depends on the availability of your type. Poison types aren't very scarce because you get access to zubat, and weedle (depending on version). You can get an oddish in Ilex Forest as well, gastly are also available, and Koffing.

So that is a no on Skorupi. If you were to be using a rarer type such as Ice, steel, or dark (which are all pretty rare at first) then bringing in eggs would be allowed.

SonofWiseii April 22nd, 2010 3:30 PM

*sigh* Well, after a long time full of trouble-shooting and other such business, I finally got a good, working ROM of SoulSilver. So, let's get right to it:

...I suddenly find myself in some strange room. An old man in a gold jacket is the only other person in here (nothing suspect about that at all!). He starts going on a tangent about some world, but since I'm ADD I get distracted by this weird blue thing that pops out from some sort of ball from his hands. Afterward, he starts questioning me. He's a cop! I knew that catch up with me someday! I answer all his questions with false answers (except for the gender one; that one's pretty obvious on its own), right down to my name! I said it was SWiseii instead of SonofWiseii! Hah, see if they can figure that one out!

Anyway, before long I'm in my room. I check my email to see if I've gotten anything from Deadliest Warrior: The Aftermath yet, but no dice. Instead, I get another email from that annoying girl everyone insists is my best friend. I head downstairs, and mom gives me some stuff, including...my bag. Wow, thanks mom...

I immediately save since it's probably smart to do that often on a shaky ROM like this. I head out the door and...DANGIT, NOT ANOTHER ONE!! It's another blue thing like the one that cop had! Someone, save me! I don't care who it is, just get me away from this vicious blue whatever! Well, thankfully that Lyra not-really-my-best-friend-girl was nearby, and got it away from me. I decide to pick up the pace then, and go through this a little faster.

I get to the lab to see *shudders* Professor Elm. What's wrong with him? I have a feeling he does meth or something and, in a drug induced psychosis, touches little children. I tell myself to make this a quick meeting, which it is. I gotta go see the inapproprietly named Mr. Pokemon to get some egg I'll never want, and take along some creature that looks like a baby dinosaur...with a leaf on its head. So what, is it a plant or an animal? Ah well, I don't wanna hang around this guy any longer, so I get out of there fast before he shows me his secret stash of marijuana, but not before an Aid, who appologizes for the Professor's awkward behavior, and gives me a potion to show how sorry he is.

Nothing much happens on Route 29, although I do get a level up and find another potion. After a while, I make it to Cherrygro--Oh my gosh! Pedo-Alert! Pedo-Alert! Some old man comes up to me to "show me around," or something like that, and you gotta know something's wrong with this picture. Despite his age, he's apparently faster than me, most likely due to the fact that I'm lazy. After he "show's me around," he shows me his house (Oh dear,) and gives me a "special treat," the shoes off his feet. Well, I get out of here fast with these Running Shoes, but not before he gives me another "treat," this time a map card for my PokeGear.

I start up Route 30, but as I walk past some house, I guy comes out and shouts at me because I didn't come visit him. NOT ANOTHER ONE!!! Ah well, I get away relatively unscathed this time (all I was forced to take was a box for some strange berry), and head further up the Route. As I go, I find a couple of trainers battling, and decide to do exactly as my mom told me to do when I see two people fighting: bet money on the winner. One of them is wielding a purple rat, which looks way stronger than the wierd pigeon the other guy has, so I naturaly put about ten cents in PokeDollars (about $1539) on him. Man, he'd better win or I'll be ticked off!

I finally make it to Mr. Who's-its house, getting another good level up before hand. He hands me that egg I heard about earlier, and let's me rest there (...). Then...it's that cop! You'll never take me alive! As I run away though, he tosses some strange device that I keep out of spite. But as I'm leaving, Elm calls telling me he's got a problem. He probably forgot where he left his bag of heroine again.

I head back to Cherrygrove, taking a wide turn around the Apricorn Box Guy's house, and heal up quick. As I try to go back through Route 29, though, some random kid with red hair runs into me and forces me to battle him. He keeps calling me a wimp, so I assume he's another nut-job. Anyway, his Cyndiquil-fire-porcupine-thing is no match for my amazing leaf-headed-dinosaur! Out of spite, I knock it out with a Razor Leaf Chikorita learned at level six since it would be weak against his Pokemon.

As he runs away stating that he'll be the most powerful trainer in the world, I jack his Trainer Card just to make him mad, and guess what his parents named him? Nester! Ah man, I feal sorry for the kid. He gets it back, and I make my way back to the lab.

Inside I find an actual cop interrogating Elm. Man, I guess they found his stash of PCP. Tough luck for him. I go up and the cop immediately recognizes my face from the wanted posters! DARN IT!!! But thankfully at the last minute Lyra comes up and tells the Officer I'm innocent. Whew, thank goodness the Police are forced to believe everything little girls say or I'd be a sitting duck!

I get out of the lab (that place still gives me the creeps), and start back on Route 29...only to be stopped by Lyra, who forces me to watch her capture another one of those purple rats. Afterward, she hands me...my balls. Great, thanks Lyra.

As I get back to Cherrygrove, I heal at the Pokemon Center and save a total of seventy times (no, not really), before shutting it off, feeling somewhat accomplished.

So, let's recap on what happened today (In no particular order.)

I've met at least three pedophiles, one is probably on drugs, one gives me "special gifts," and the third wants everyone to stop by his house. I've been handed my bag and my balls by my mother and my supposed best friend (respectively), I've met a narcissistic kid who calls himself "Nester," or "Passerby Boy," and I'm being forced to train a dinosaur with a leaf on its head...Oh God, please help me!

EDIT:

Don't worry about it, long updates are better than no updates.

I picked up where I left off in my challenge and I began to participate in the Pokeathlon challenge so I can buy a heart scale. With this heart scale, I can teach my piloswine the attack ancient power and rumor has it he'll evolve by knowing it. I won the speed event three times in a row, and purchased a heart scale. I gave it to the creepy fat guy that knows all the pokemon moves and Piloswine remembered it perfectly. I then fed it some sort of candy because he seemed hungry and what do you know he evolved! Amazing, watch out Elite 4, I'm ready for you!

Current Team:

Lvl 47 Glaceon (Glas)
lvl 46 Dewgong (Aqua)
Lvl 42 Jynx
Lvl 40 piloswine (Now lvl 41 Mamoswine)

A minor Update:
After finally catching a kid hopped up on candy,I finally reached Kanto. I found myself in a strange town named Vermilion city.
After wandering about the town, and talking to stangers I find the gym, however it was protected by a shrub.
I figured I could just cut the darn thing down. Unlucky, none of my pokemon could learn cut >.>
I quickly ran to the local pokemon center extracted my HM slave, Entei and cut the shrub down.
Entering the door I see rows and rows of garbage cans and learn after battling the gym trainer that the cunning
gym leader has hidden secret switches in them. To my luck the first two I touch are the right ones.
I proceeded to the gym leader, Lt. Surge.
I quickly take his first Electrode down in one shot with a Rock Throw his next two are suicidal and use
explosion on my poor Rocky. Rocky faints and I switch to Nidoking. It's a head to head fight with Lt. Surge's Raichu,
Nidoking uses Earth Power and 1HKO's it.
Thus earning me my

Guess what?

I defeated the E4 on my first try. Ho-Oh and Gyarados are there because I forgot to drop them off. I use them for fly, waterfall, whirpool and strength.

Let me do a quick summary: Will was relatively easy since 4 out of 5 his pokemon were weak to ice types. Koga lost entirely to Mamoswine the beast. Bruno was incredibly hard but I manage to luck out a few times and defeated him narrowly. The same for Karen, she was extremely hard (harder than Lance IMO) I thought her Houndoom would rape my team but Mamoswine managed to outspeed it and use Earthquake. The rest was cake.

The champion was actually one of the easier battles. All his pokemon except for Charizard and Gyarados were weak to ice. Gyarados defeated my Jynx easily, so I was forced to spam blizzard and icy wind with Glaceon. Once that was done, he sent out Aerodactyl so I switched out for Mamoswine. Amazingly, his rock slide missed 2 times in a row and I killed it with an ice shard spam. His charizard was up next so I sent out Dewgong to battle it. I did some decent damage before he switched out to dragonite. I killed it with ice beam but I got smacked with thunder before it happened. He sent out his other dragonite so I switched to Glaceon. Glaceon killed it one icy wind and now he sent out Charizard. I switched in Dewgong but it fell to an air slash. I thought I was in trouble when I sent out Mamoswine but Charizard's fire fang missed. I landed an Ancient power and beat Charizard. After that, apparently ancient power boosted all my stats. And now it was Lance's final pokemon, his lvl 50 dragonite. I attacked with ice shard which brought him down to the orange but he landed a huge fire blast on it. Thanks to the ancient power boost it survived so I finished it with one final ice shard.

As you can see, luck was definitely on my side here. XD Off to Kanto!!

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 7:03 AM

I will do a monotypical challenge of the Steel variety.
Am I allowed to use pokemon that are not Steel types but evolve into Steel types? Because I'd quite like to have a Forretress, Steelix and Scissor (or however you spell it :/).

If I'm not allowed to, I'll do a different type, because then I'd only be able to use, like, Magnemite.

EJ April 23rd, 2010 7:18 AM

You're allowed to so don't worry about it (I did the same with Seel--Dewgong). I'll sign you up.

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 7:22 AM

Ok, I'll start either now or tommorow. I'll update every time I beat a Gym.

EJ April 23rd, 2010 7:24 AM

That sounds good. You can also trade an egg of a steel type into the game to start you off. So yeah, have fun!

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 7:33 AM

Beldum. :D My friend who's coming over on Sunday has a Ditto and Metagross migrated to his file. This'll be good.

Also, I haven't done any trading in HG/SS yet, can you trade at any point in the game? Like, in the first city?

EJ April 23rd, 2010 7:38 AM

Yes, the only thing you can't do is wifi...that's what I think.

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 10:36 AM

Actually, I think instead of doing Steel I'm going to do Bug. I've never really used bug before, and I still get Scizor and Forretress, which were the two pokemon I was doing Steel for.

EJ April 23rd, 2010 11:04 AM

Alright I'll update. Good luck!

Quick update: I challenged Vermilion's gym, and came across a man known as Lt. Surge. He would have been a tough match if it weren't for Mamoswine. He easily destroyed every one of his opponents, except for Electabuzz. He outspeeded Mamoswine and utilized Low Kick. Mamoswine survived and OHKO it with Earthquake.

I then headed north to Saffron City where I entered a gym with weird pads that transported me across the building. It was a little difficult to traverse it but I did. Sabrina was easily one of the hardest battles Ive had. Espeon was landing huge hits but I killed it off with the combined efforts of Mamoswine and Glaceon. I switched in Dewgong to go against Mr. mime. I revived Mamoswine and waited until Reflect wore off to switch in Mamoswine and finish it. Next up, it was Alakazam. That was tougher than Espeon in terms of strength but it was weaker defensively so I knew any hit I got on it would help. So mamoswine did ice shard before dying. Dewgong stood no chance against it's energy ball. Jynx died from one hit as well. Glaceon finished it off with shadow ball but it certainly took a hard psychic hit.

Now Im in Cerulean where I just beat the 6 trainer challenge.

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 12:19 PM

Falkner's gonna be fun.

I did a HG mono bug challenge. Most of the gyms are annoying because you aren't that great. Ariados helped against Morty, Shadow Sneak, but you have Ledyba. Butterfree helped against Chuck, but you have Beedril.

I used Ariados, Forretress, Butterfree, Scyther, Yanmega, and Parasect.
All in all, Bug was fun, but really tough most of the way through.

=D Have fun!

I haven't updated in a bit, but whatever. I've planned my next mono-type to be Dragon.

Currently working on a Dratini egg, then gonna do some research on who all I can get in HG and see who I need to egg up and trade over.

=D

After a little research I've decided I don't feel like waiting 110 days for a Bagon... so screw Dragon mono-type... that is unless someone wants to get me a bagon, swablu, trapinch, and gible egg... xD

EJ April 23rd, 2010 5:30 PM

I could supply a gible egg, idk about the rest.

Quick Update: I beat Misty's gym (kinda hard) but Jynx learned Perish Song so I got rid of Starmie that way. I then beat Erika....easily....really easy....like I took it easy =]

I've taken a little break..:most likely finishing the challenge tomorrow!

Mr. Morrid April 23rd, 2010 7:48 PM

Thanks, but I think I'll try something a little easier to do. =D

Maybe Ice or Dark... not sure yet.

EJ April 23rd, 2010 9:33 PM

The updates never end!!

I went against Janine but it was no match for Manoswine. I then went against Brock where everybody joined in and helped me win. With another fairly easy gym battle under my belt, I took off to Cinnabar Island to battle Blaine....but he wasn't there...

EDIT:

I proceeded to a nearby island east of Cinnabar and whaddaya know? He was in there in a makeshift gym. The battle
was actually kinda easy besides the obvious fire>ice advantage. Dewgong and Mamoswine performed well. I then talked to Blue and flew to Viridian City. I traversed the odd step pads that propelled me forward, sideways, and backwards. It was dizzying but I managed it. I finally made it to Blue where I immediately began a battle. Overall, many of his pokemon were strong against my type...but at the same time he also had some weaknesses I exposed. He began with Exeggutor so I finished it off with repeated ice shards. His Rhydon was up next so I 2HKO'd it with Earthquake. He then sent out his Arcanine which was tough but I finished it off with Mamoswine/Dewgong. Machamp turned out to be quite tough so he beat Mamoswine and I sent out jynx to use psychic. It knocked off a huge chunk of hp but not enough for a faint. It used stone edge and finished Jynx. I then sent out Glaceon where I somehow managed to pull off Blizzard while Machamp healed up. It was a OHKO. His Gyarados was also tough but amazingly I froze it with just one of Dewgong's Ice beam. I revived my mamoswine (because at that point Jynx, Glaceon, and Mamoswine had fainted from Machamp and gyarados. I used rock slide twice to finish Gyarados and then his Pidgeot was left. The battle was in my favor at last so I used ice shard with 4 HP left on Mamoswinr and then Pidgeot used whirlwind. I used Ice beam with Dewgong and that was it. Challenge completed.

End quote: I've never had to use so many potions, revives, super potions, revives, max potions, hyper potions, full restores...you name it! It was fun though =]

MudkipRush!!! April 23rd, 2010 10:44 PM

I bet Falkner's embarrassed now! :D
Well, it did take me three tries to beat him, but after the first two humiliations of getting owned by a barrage of Gusts that always seemed to crit, I trained both my Pokemon and Ledyba's reflect really helped me :).
The battle was still annoying, as all he used that time was Sand Attack and Roost. It took, like, ten minutes >:(

Hey guys, make sure to say some thoughts on your experience (once you succeed) so I can add them under your name in the Champion's Corner.

Now that I've done the challenge I can say that I'm pretty manly.

Graaawwwwwllrrrr!!

MudkipRush!!! April 24th, 2010 12:42 AM

It took a while and a LOT of Twineedles and Potions, but I managed to down Bugsy's Scyther reasonably easily with my Beedrill.
Then Beedrill destroyed the rest of his team with Rage. <3 Rage and Twineedle.
Currently training for the battle against Heart's Quilava. I have a feeling it will take many tries. :/

LAWL!

Summary of Rival Battle:
Heart sent out Gastly!
OMGWASP ;( used Pursuit. Gastly fainted!
Heart sent out Quilava!
Quilava decided to never use Ember even though my team was entirely composed of brittle bug types!
Quilava fainted!

I won the battle without taking any damage. Fail AI. I'll certainly have problems with him in the future, though.

I'm in with my heart gold FIRE team.

Final Team: Typhlosion, Arcannine, Flareon, Houndoom, Magmar, Camerupt

First update tomorrow.

EJ April 24th, 2010 5:48 AM

Good, good. I'll sign you up...and good luck mudkiprush!!!

Facing your weakness is tough...especially with bug types

MudkipRush!!! April 24th, 2010 5:48 AM

Beat Whitney incredibly easily, Beedrill took care of Clefairy and most of Miltank, then I switched out to Pineco and self destructed for the lulz. Gym complete.

Played the bug catching contest and didn't even rank. Maybe because I only caught a Butterfree then retired :P

Killed Sudowoodo, currently in Ecruteak city. Just about to enter the sinister looking tower thingy.

Update time!

Went aaaaaalllllllll the way back to Azalea to catch Heracross. God, he was a ***** to catch. Took me a lot of tries with Parasect until I finally decided to get False Swipe. Finally got it. Grinded it to level 27. Taught it Focus Blast. Taught Butterfree Solar Beam.

Went aaaaaaalllll the way back to Ecruteak and completely destroyed my rival. Butterfree 1HKOd Gastly and Zubat, and Heracross 1HKOd both Magnemite and Quilava with Focus Blast.

Blitzed the Ghost gym with Butterfree and it's Psybeam. 1HKOd almost all of Morty's pokemon except Gengar. He took 2 hits.

Y'know, for what is supposedly the worst type in the game, these bugs actually pwn. It may be to do with me being overlevelled, but you kinda have to be when using Bugs...

Minor update:
After solving the saffron city gym's puzzle I proceeded to Sabrina, only to be defeated. On the second try
I took her Alakazam down with a critical Ice Shard. After defeating Sabrina, I took on celadon city's gym with no problem.
Mamoswine FTW!

 • Let the games begin!
 • Met the odd, kimono wearing woman again. Only, this time, she pretended like she didn’t even know me! That’s extremely insensitive, seeing as I told you my name already, and I let you look at my Togepi Egg (and no, that is not an innuendo).
 • A nice lady gave me the TM for Taunt. If I was trying to catch an Abra, this would have been extremely helpful. But, I’m only using Normal-types, which means no Abra for me. I’ll hold onto the TM though, since I don’t like selling gifts.
 • Read the sign outside of the guardpost-like building. Apparently, Radio Tower is giving away Radio Cards! I wonder if they have any Ocarinas… Perhaps a Wind Waker?
 • Register Gina in my PokeGear, because I roll that way. Then I registered Ian, because I don’t want to be a dick and say no to a little kid. God, that came out wrong.
 • Hey, it’s Lyra! And, apparently, she’s related to the Day Care Couple! Also, she’s not Crys! …Just saying. She still has that Marill with her, and I think I might have to have Aipom kick its ass. Also, Lyra’s grandmother seems to be implying that Lyra and I are an item. That… I don’t really mind; I’d hit that. She gave me her number too… damn, two girls in one day. Gold is becoming a pimp. I also registered Lyra’s grandparents because they asked, instead of Prof. Oak, who demanded that I go out and tame wild animals. Where is that prick anyway? I’ve got a few choice (and four) letter words for him.
 • Found another cop, but he only ever does anything at night, and he never leaves this Route. Good job, Johto Police Division.
 • Mom called to tell me she bought me a gift. Thanks Mom! I wonder what it is… To the Goldenrod Department Store! Besides, I’ve gotta pick up a few TMs there anyways.
 • Mom bought me Yache Berries! Not exactly useful for this Challenge, but should I start my Dragon Challenge anytime soon, these will become infinitely useful! Thanks Mom. P.S: Buy me a Dratini next!
 • Took the elevator to the 6th floor, and got myself a Prism Berry in the Drawing. Not bad, but I would have liked that TM 60… Oh well. Can’t win ‘em all, I guess.
 • Bought me the TMs for Focus Blast and Fire Blast. Currently, Togetic can only learn Fire Blast. I guess I’ll have to wait for my Dawn Stone at the Pokethlon. What a drag… And even then, I’ve gotta re-teach Togekiss Air Slash and Aura Sphere. I also, on the 2nd floor, bought as many Ultra Balls as I can. I’m catching a Tauros soon, and I want to catch it without having to rely on the Pokéball’s shaky Capture Rate. We all saw what happened with Aipom.
 • …I see a train station. I like it. I wanna ride the train! But I can’t, cause someone broke it. Whoever they are, they shall pay for their sins, like the heathen they are!
 • Went to the Gym, only to find out that Whitney’s being irresponsible and hanging out at the Radio Tower to win a Card. To the tower!
 • …Okay, now you’ve gotta be kidding me. There’s a freaking terrorist outside, someoneidentified him as a member of Team Rocket; no one calls the police. Everyone in Goldenrod is officially useless and/or brain-dead.
 • Got me a Radio Card, which caught Whitney’s attention. Apparently, she though Kurt used Apricots, or something like that. Finally, she returned to the kitchen Gym. Now, to go and get a Plain Badge!
 • After entering, and defeating every member of the Gym but Whitney, I took a small respite at the Pokémon Center, healing up those who had been damaged. My mom also called, to let me know that she bought me something. Maybe it’s my Dratini?! To the Department Store!
 • …It wasn’t a Dratini. Just more berries. Mom, you’re making me sad.
 • Gina called me up to talk about how in sync she was getting with her Hoppip, and how she was angry that she couldn’t catch a Drowzee.
 • Sorry Whitney, but I’m gonna be needin’ that Plain Badge.
 • Stupid damn Fury Swipes keeps hitting only twice.
 • Finally KO’d that annoying Miltank with a Screech/Fury Swipes combination.
 • Oh crap. I made her cry. This… cannot end well for me. Lucky for me, I’m wearing my cup.
 • I stealthily tried to make my exit as Whitney’s crying, only to be stopped by one of the Gym Trainers. Apparently, this happens a lot.
 • Well, after Whitney finally calmed down and stopped crying, she gave me the Plain Badge and TM 45, Attract. Badge is great, TM… meh.
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/4a/Zephyr_Badge.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/0/08/Hive_Badge.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/a/a7/Plain_Badge.png
 • That’s three badges in five days. Why can’t the Anime progress this damn fast?
 • I know that this is a shameless advertisement, but, if you’re looking for Video Game Soundtracks, go to http://www.ostproject.co.cc/. They are one of the best, if not the best, place to get Soundtracks from, and their list of tracks are pretty damn impressive. Let me tell you, nothing is more fun than playing Pokémon, while switching between the Pokémon HeartGold Soundtrack, to the Megamn 10 Soundtrack, to the Resident Evil 4 Soundtrack.
 • Healed up the team at the Pokémon Center before setting out towards the North, and Ecruteak City.
 • I was asked to deliver a letter to someone on Route 31. I turned them down instantly. Sorry, but I’m not playing delivery-boy anymore, and I refuse to do good deeds unless they work in my direct interest.
 • Mom bought me more berries. Seriously mom, can you just get me a Dratini? Or maybe a Jigglypuff? I’ve always wanted one of those…
 • Decided against teaching Aipom Agility, since I saw no real point in it. Baton Pass is just going to be used once Aipom/Ambipom gets damaged too badly, and I don’t plan on passing Speed boosts.
 • Registered the Juggler, Irwin, because apparently, I have fans now.
 • I’ve gotta tell you, you have no idea how happy I am that Game Freak gave Togepi Extrasensory. Before, in G/S/C, it was so difficult to train Togepi, because you had to rely on TMs or the EXP Share. Now though, backed with Serene Grace and a decent attacking move, the Togepi family is, to quote the Wu Tang Clan, nothin’ to **** with.
 • Ran back to the Pokémon Center to heal up, and then hit the road again.
 • Entered the National Park. Left to go to the Pokethlon Dome and… goddammit! Another pedophile! Mother of **** ****!
 • Holy crap. That dome is… big. Hey it’s Whitney! How you doin’? Am I a medium or a small? I’m all large, baby. Looks like she forgot here Pokémon. I swear, all the good looking ones are airheads.
 • Left the Pokethlon Dome, enraged at the fact that they don’t carry Shiny Stones at this time. I need a goddamn Shiny Stone!
 • Declined the offer to take the Bug Catching Challenge, since it would serve no real purpose, considering that if I were to start a Bug-type Challenge, I’d have to use Caterpie/Weedle/Ledyba/Spinarak since those are the first four Bug-types that appear early in the game. Believe me though, if I could import Eggs with those Pokémon, I’d whip everyone from Faulkner, to Whitney, to Chuck, to Claire. Scyther is just a beast like that.
 • Entered National Park, and I like the scenery. Very serene, very pristine and relaxed.
 • Got a call from Lyra… about Route 46. NEVER SPEAK OF THAT ROUTE IN MY PRESENSE AGAIN, LYRA!
 • Took a picture with my squad in the park. This is going right on my fridge. Wait… do I even own a fridge? What the hell do I eat, anyway? And when!?
 • Got a Quick Claw from a rather bossy woman, which thinks she’s a teacher.
 • Met a father, and his cosplaying son. I swear, this world gets weirder and weirder every time I open my eyes.
 • Went behind the fence, walked southward bound and…. Where the hell is TM Dig? Where the hell is TM Dig! Goddammit!
 • Never mind. I found it. Stupid gigantic tree was blocking it from sight.
 • Got a Soothe Bell too, this would have been useful, if Togepi hadn’t evolved already.
 • Got a call from Ian, telling me on how, after he learned so much from our battle, he managed to defeat a Ratatta. That’s nice Ian. It’s good to have fans, and people that idolize you. It makes it easier when you need to borrow cash, or a getaway car.
 • Taught Aipom Double Hit and…YAY! He evolved into an Ambipom! Now he’s got four hands, and each one can kick some ass!
 • Met a weird Bird Keeper, who asked me about my balls. Sorry, but those are off-limits.
 • Spoke with Floria, who informed me that the ‘tree’ blocking the way to Ecruteak wasn’t a tree at all, but a Pokémon! This comes as no surprise to me, seeing as I already figured that out when I poked it and the damn thing moved! Now I need to spray it with water… Maybe Totodile can help.
 • *Remembers what happened last time Totodile was out of the PC* …So many bodies. Oh merciful God, why!?
 • Got distracted by the allure of more Game Soundtracks. My iPod is crying from the complete overload of win that it’s trying to contain.
 • On my adventures on the Internetz, I came across a wonderful site by the name of http://forums.ffshrine.org/. I would recommend anyone looking for Game Guides, OSTs (that you can’t find on ostproject), or basically anything else, to check out that site. I found a Pokémon HeartGold/Soul Silver Strategy Guide (PRIMA) there, and who knows what other treasures you could find?

Not much really changed with the team, other than moves and the evolution of Aipom.

Wow. I already did all of that stuff with my awesome normal team and I didn't even LOOK at this! But meh. Guess I'm not the first.

Feel free to start over or do whatever you like. Hehe =]

SonofWiseii April 24th, 2010 6:36 PM

Ugh, stupid ROM. Sadly it's all I've got, but I wish it wouldn't freeze so much. :(

Anyway, I'm up and ready to make as little progress as possible! I head up Route 30, and remember that bet I made a little while ago. So I go to check on it and...WHAT!?!?!? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE LOST!?!? I'M SO MAD I'LL TAKE IT OUT ON THE FEW TRAINERS IN THESE ROUTES! But anyway, the trainers here don't pose too much of a fight. I go ahead and look for a certain rat so I can abuse it for its brethren not being strong enough to take out a stupid pigeon.

So I capture an HM Slave Rattata for Cut and Rock Smash purposes, and get to Violet. After healing up quick, I head out to the western and southern routes for Rock Smash (which I immediately give to Rattata) and a level six Bellsprout to add to the team (respectively)! He's male, and the first thing that pops into my head is...Sparticus. Not sure why.

After a little bit of training (and game freezing :| ) in Sprout Tower, I get Sparticus up to level 10, and decide I've done enough for tonight. Sorry for the short update...

I thought challenged ended after beating red? Nvm saw the OP, must be thinking of the the old thread.

MudkipRush!!! April 25th, 2010 12:02 AM

I'm starting again. Bug's waaaaay too easy, and not really very fun.

Imah do Rock this time. It's another type I haven't used yet and one that I believe has a history of sucking.

Changing to Dragon Type, started again, traded in a Dratini with Extreme Speed :D

Blitzed everything with Dragon Rage, when it obeyed me, of course.
One shotted both of Falkner's pokemon, although it took a while for it to obey me.

Went through Union Cave, pwned everyone.

Now I'm off to abuse Team Rocket, then the bug gym. Hopefully I won't have reached 20 by then. :/

EJ April 25th, 2010 8:52 AM

Mudkiprush damn just pick one and get it over with lmao

The old thread also had it after the 16 badges. He never mentioned Red.... lol

MudkipRush!!! April 25th, 2010 8:56 AM

Yeah, well, I got bored of Bug and I don't do stuff that I'm bored of.

Anyway, DESTROYED Whitney. Dragon Rage 2HKO'd both of her Pokemon, even though I had to use a Super Potion after getting Judgement Metronomed. D: Gonna get an Ekans and breed it with my female Dratini so I can get a second pokemon. :/

I have a feeling the Ghost type gym will be very annoying. :/ lol

Update!

This is all relevant so bear with it please.

~My school has this thing called "Game Club" formed by some of the nerdier students, a.k.a. My friends and I. We haven't been there in some time, even though it was our idea.
~We decided to go back after not having anything planned that particular Thursday, and we arrived only to find it had been taken over by dorks and dweebs who reeked of B.O. and greeted us as the "New Kids" (This alone got me pretty pissed so I explained to them what it says above), but since the bus did not come for another half-hour, we reluctantly decided to stay.
~We played some Brawl, DDR, Soul Caliber and even some FPS's and I let my friend borrow my DS and battle some kid who honestly wasn't all there mentally.
~He fought him with my bug team and they decided to use Pokemon levels 30 and below to be fair.
~This kid pulls out a level 40 Murkrow as his 3rd Pokemon and thinks he's being clever (I know this because I watched the battle video that my friend saved afterward).
~Needless to say, my team lost (even though Scizor put up one hell of a fight) and I was a bit mad at this kid who can't play by rules.
~I went back looking to ask him about it and he was gone. I put my DS down for but a minute to think about it, and someone erased my file when I wasn't looking.
~I'm sure they meant it as a joke, but I'm still pretty steamed.
~I did not make a backup so it's kinda my fault too. I may continue with this challenge, or I may switch over to Steel... Probably stick with Bug though.

My team so far:

That sucks chazz. I'll bend the rules a bit if you need any pokemon =/.

MudkipRush!!! April 25th, 2010 11:02 AM

Wow, that sucks Chazz :( What a din. If I still had my bug file, I'd happily trade you some pokemon if EJ allowed it. Unfortunately, now I've switched to Dragon. Which reminds me...

I've hatched a Dratini and I am currently levelling it. Bought some TMs and taught them to both my Pokemon. Will do the Burned Tower and beat the gym soon.

Team when I challenge Ghost Gym

Dragonair
Lv. 30
Blizzard
Dragon Rage (Will be Outrage later)
Focus Blast
Agility

Notes: This will be my strongest and hopefully cover all of it's own weaknesses when it is a Dragonite. :D

Dratini

Extreme Speed
Dragon Rage
Thunder
Agility

Robin Hood April 25th, 2010 11:51 AM

Never done this, even though I've always wanted to. :P Thinking about doing fire, but I really hate cyndaquil >.> Think someone could trade me a charmander instead or would that be too against the rules? If not, that's okay, i'll try to get a shiny cyndaquil or something, to make it fun :P

Also, are pokewalker pokemon are allowed? The first page says it is, I think. But it seems no one is using them so I'm not sure. =X

EJ April 25th, 2010 11:56 AM

Yeah I'd allow it. That happened to me two years ago with Diamond and that's where I had competitive teams, 3rd gen legendaries, kanto starters, and mooooreee. I know what's it like to see hard work go to waste.

EJ April 25th, 2010 12:17 PM

Oh sorry, I said I'd allow Chazz to get help but that's a no to charmander.

You get access to Vulpix, Magmar, growlithe, the starter, etc (can't think of anybody else ATM). If you gimme a good reason as to why you should be allowed, I'll do it.

Robin Hood April 25th, 2010 12:23 PM

Allright, no problem. Just asking as it was my favorite one. :P I'll think I'll do Psychic, as i've never used a Wobbuffett before and I think Togepi's metronome would be fun in the long run. Pokewalker's allowed, right? If so, I'll be getting Wobuffet pretty early on. If not, then I'll have to wait till after the first for the togepi. Either way, I'll do it.

Yeah they're allowed so no problems. Isn't Togepi a normal/flying though?

Robin Hood April 25th, 2010 12:33 PM

He is o.o Guess I saw Extrasensory on my last play through and just assumed. I've lived a lie for past few years then. Oh well, that's fine. I'l just do normal, since it's a type I've rarely used. Restarting my Heartgold now. :)

EJ April 25th, 2010 12:38 PM

Normal sounds like fun. I'll sign you up. I'm still considering doing either Steel, dark or Normal.

Jaspher April 25th, 2010 12:48 PM

So far I'm half done Johto's gym leaders, but on my other file I just bet Red. Heh, Level 60s vs. Level 80s, and I still won.

Robin Hood April 25th, 2010 1:32 PM

Day One
 • Thanked the Nintengod for the ability to skip through to the tutorial.
 • Wondered where Oak got his new snazzy gold jacket.
 • He showed me his Marril. I hate Marril. -.-
 • Checked my "assets" and discovered that I was indeed a boy, and chose that option accordingly.
 • Named myself "Sid" after my hero, Sid Vicious. Anyone who knows who that is gets a free cookie.
 • Had a "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids"-esque experience and started my journey.
 • Mom gave me a few things, like the ability to save, which is kinda usefull I guess.
 • Marril hit me as soon as I opened the door. I hate Marrils. -.- So I punched him square in his blue, rat eyed face-body. Don't **** with me, *****.
 • Elm decides to send me on an errand. Blah blah, ocean of text.
 • Got a little hopeful, wishing that on the off chance, one of the starters would be shiny.
 • Cried.
 • Chose dumb, regular colored Totodile. :( Figure he'll be my surf slave.
 • Elm's aide gives me some potions, which I can only assume are some LSD-laced, poke-enhancing superdrug.
 • Talked with Lyra. Marril was hiding behind her. That's right mother****er. I hate Mariil. -.-
 • Talked with Mom, who gave me my Pokegear and explained to me the fine, complicated art of making a call, even when I told her that I knew how. -.-
 • Saved to mow the grass and text my girlfriend, who frankly, I really neglect when Pokemon is involved in any way.

Would post pictures, but I need 15 post count to do that. :)

Kay back, lawn is freshyl mowed and I'm on my way to Mr. Pokemon's house. Clever name.
 • Running from any fight, a thing which I rarely do so early in the game, but I don't want to use Totodile anymore than I have to. :/
 • Oh that's cool. If you go past the Apricorn house without going in, the guy comes out for you. That's kinda helpful.
 • Arrived at Mr. Pokemon's house. Always found it so annoying how their's so much text to skip through here. :(
 • Spent literally 20 minutes sitting there, because i kept getting distracted. Damn reality tv.
 • Ran from all the wild battles back.
 • Completely forgot that I had to battle "Passerby Boy" o.o Probably should've trained.
 • After getting growled at by a living blob with a leaf on it's head, my blue-colored wonder was triumphant. Hope you liked that excercise, it's the last you'll ever get.
 • After traveling back to New Bark, the policeman asks me the man's name. I named him Beatle. Because I hate The Beatles. Yeah.
 • I left the lab and was stopped by my best friend and her... Marill. I hate Marril. -.- I stared at it and wondered how filet Marril would taste.
 • She taught me a way to trick Pokemon into being my slaves. Sweet!
 • Caught a Normal/Flying Hoothoot, don't think I'll actually use him though, I just need something to go in my pokewalker to try and get my Khangaskhan. :)
 • Put Hoothoot in there and I'm off. :)

Got to Violet City. Sorry for the crappy description today, I'm tired :(

I will have to [unfortunately] extract my participation as I will no longer have internet to update.

It was a fun challenge never the less, EJ.

This challenge actually taught me the better aspects of any Pokemon.

Aww that sucks, but no problem. It was nice to have you here participating for a while.
