What kind of pokeball did you use to capture Kyogre/Groudon/Rayquaza and why?

It took me many tries, but I was successful at capturing Kyogre in a great ball. My bro says that ultra balls fail at capturing legendaries. So I took his advice and used the great ball. Why the great ball specifically? I wanted to capture Kyogre in something that matched its colors (red,white,blue... lol patriotic). And after many grueling resets, close calls, and fainting, I finally did it. No net balls necessary! :D I have HG, so I still have yet to capture Rayquaza. My emerald Groudon doesn't work... :'(

lusterclaw April 18th, 2010 4:51 PM

im just want to catch kyogre with my 9 master balls that i traded from my pearl im going to catch rayquaza with a master ball as well

Master Kavar April 18th, 2010 9:22 PM

Pokemon1222 April 19th, 2010 8:55 AM

I Think Your Bro Was Lying, Or Either Kept Failing If He Tested It, Because I Used False Swipe On Kyogre And Caught It In A Ultra Ball.

Pazuru April 19th, 2010 1:26 PM

I caught Groudon with a Heavy Ball.

Why?

Because he's over 2000 freakin' pounds~ ♥

Eeohnex April 19th, 2010 4:50 PM

I'm probably going to catch Groudon with a Heavy Ball, or a Great Ball.

r0b25 April 19th, 2010 5:34 PM

i got him with a ultra ball, was gonna try heavy but nah hah

ÇyänïdëÉX April 19th, 2010 5:38 PM

Is it remotely possible to catch these pokemon with a normal pokeball? that would be so cool.

Pazuru April 19th, 2010 5:53 PM

^ Considering that I caught both the Level 70 Pokemon in Pokeballs, I don't see why it'll be impossible~

brownsugerandcinnamonpoptarts April 19th, 2010 9:25 PM

I used a heavy ball cuz i knew groundon was the like 2nd heaviest of all pokemon
I had like 16 made but i only need to use one cuz he used rest X3

Wichu April 20th, 2010 2:04 AM

Why have you got a poll where you can only choose a single option? There are two (or three, if you have both games) legendaries to catch, so a poll where you can select more than one choice would have been better.

Anyway, though I haven't actually unlocked them yet, Kyogre will be caught in a Great Ball, and Rayquaza in a Luxury Ball. For the simple reasons that a Great Ball matches Kyogre's colours exactly (white bottom, and blue top with red decorations), and similarly, Luxury Ball is an exact match for a shiny Rayquaza.

Not sure what to go for on my brother's Groudon, though. It's a shame you can't get Cherish Balls; maybe I'll try getting it in a Repeat Ball.

torcoal April 20th, 2010 2:39 AM

I'm a gonna use Heavy balls on Groudon. For obvious reasons.
Hello,HEAVEST POKEMON IN THE ENTIRE GAME!!!!!

platinum dragonite April 20th, 2010 3:07 AM

i used a master ball on rayquaza and groudon but then i used a ultra ball on kyogre (i was out of ultra balls and didnt want to turn it off because of the glitch of the groudon not being there)

Tanaie April 20th, 2010 11:33 AM

:3 I always use an ultra ball...

Zebeedoo April 20th, 2010 12:09 PM

I've just caught Kyogre today, in a Net Ball. :3 It only took about 3 or 4 aswell. O:

He means Lugia/Ho-Oh (depending on the game) and Mewtwo. They are both level 70. I have them as well :p and in pokeballs XD

I caught Kyogre in a level ball, with my level 100 Arceus out front. I'll probably do the same with Groudon and Rayquaza. However, Fast ball possibly on Rayquaza (or Luxury for color reasons) and Heavy ball on Groudon.

Azumin April 20th, 2010 4:13 PM

I caught them with pokeballs, just for kicks and giggles. :D

tangvor April 25th, 2010 7:01 AM

I used a heavy ball on Kyogre because it added 20 to catch rate because of his weight.
Groudon=super easy to catch with heavy ball because it adds 40 to catch rate.
Rayquaza I haven't gotten around to yet because neither of my friends have caught their groundon yet...
:[

Team Rocket's Raichu April 25th, 2010 7:20 AM

Master Ball, because of my action replay, and I don't want to spend 5 hours throwing Heavy Balls at them... :/

TheAppleFreak April 25th, 2010 7:41 AM

I was SRing Kyogre for IVs, and because my brother (who's DS I was using; mine's being repaired) was getting very impatient, I began using my Master Ball to speed up the process.

Haven't caught Rayquaza yet, only because my brother hasn't beaten the Kanto league yet in SS.

nielsnijhof April 25th, 2010 7:43 AM

Because after wasting quite a few of 'm I still had me 600+ left of those :P

Neil Peart April 25th, 2010 7:50 AM

Since I'm not a lazy hacker, I used Ultra Balls.

NickofTime April 25th, 2010 8:45 AM

Heavy poke ball for groudon HOORAY FOR OBESITY

Porygon3 April 25th, 2010 10:45 AM

I caught Kyogre with a Master Ball. Why? Because after hours of attempting with other balls, he would just keep healing with Aqua Ring. And I had no Sleep/Paralyz moves to use on him. I figured that if I saved my Master Ball in this game, I would just end up not using it at all.

Blaziquaza April 25th, 2010 11:40 AM

Eh. I'm gonna SR for shinies, so yeah. MB.

loliwin April 25th, 2010 10:36 PM

I catched Groudon with a Heavy Ball. He's really fat.

⋚Raika⋚ April 26th, 2010 12:14 AM

Chucked a Masterball at Kyogre with my Modest Alakazam at the lead position.
I now have a Modest Kyogre. :D

Impo April 26th, 2010 1:29 AM

i got some master balls from my pearl,
yay for laziness :P

Porygon Z April 26th, 2010 12:13 PM

I caught Groudon and Kyogre in both games using Ultra Ball.
Like Suicune, I used my Victreebel (I've traded it in HG only for Kyogre).
Razor Leaf, Razor Leaf, Acid, 1 PS left (Groudon), Sleep Powder, 3 Ultra Ball and...catched!

For Rayquaza, I decided to use a different strategy.
I started with my Platinum's level 80 Gengar, reduced to 0 Rayquaza's Rest PPs with Spite, change with Emerald's level 70 Salamence, used Dragonbreath, paralyzed, change with Victreebel, used Acid and Sleep Powder (2x), Heavy Ball and...catched!

Me too!! But on my fifth ball. ^^

I bought like 50 netballs just to be sure that Kyogre would be caught in one. :3

Toxic Potato April 26th, 2010 2:38 PM

As I always say, forget catching legendaries, they aren't usually very strong, are generally WAAYY overused, and, hey, it's free EXP. (Reason I say they aren't very strong is solely based on an experience in which I killed a Dialga with Dunsparce. Yeah, it happened.)

And I was stupid enough to waste it on a Ho-Oh >.<"
