Pokerader

How many of you wish you could use the pokerader in HG/SS i know its in the pokewalker but its notlike the one in platiunm, or do you thinks its best kept in platinum, my opion i wish they had put it in then i wouldnt have to go through all the trading just to get em over th my SS C:

rocky505 April 21st, 2010 11:10 PM

screw the poke radar they should've kept the VS seeker.

lusterclaw April 21st, 2010 11:53 PM

vs seeker is better than battling people on the phone and it will be good if thay put the poke rader on HG/SS beause i want to chain pokemon to get shinys

joshk_bra April 22nd, 2010 1:55 AM

vs seeker ftw
but i guess putting in the pokerader would have been alright =/

Moltres111 April 22nd, 2010 3:33 AM

lol, the pokeradar is terrible imo.

I'm happy they didn't include it in HG/SS. I would have just gotten frustrated trying to use it.
Also, they'd have to figure out some different system to keep track of how many pokes you've chained, since there's no Poketch in HG/SS.

Andrew McKenzie April 22nd, 2010 11:02 AM

Should of kept the VS Seeker.

As for the Radar, I never liked it, I used it a few times, but no, it ruins the fun of the game.
Rare Pokemon and Shiny Pokemon are supposed to be hard to find.
That's the point of their nature. They're rare and unusually coloured, so obviously using the PokeRadar to chain shinies and finding the rare pokemon of that area easier is no fun.

I prefer the system FireRed had.
No PokeRadar, and Vs Seeker.
I prefer the 4th Gens graphics and new additions and I've always loved the PokeGear but no, I don't like the PokeRadar.

Yosoysauce April 22nd, 2010 12:14 PM

I dont really have much of an opinion on the Pokeradar since I dont use it often, but I kind of like what Andrew Mckenzie said, shinies are supposed to be rare. Now everyone has one. So overall I'm not really affected much by its absence in HG/SS.

HOWEVER I really do miss the Vs. Seeker for obvious reasons. I mean, the call system I guess is much more realistic, but then again it's the pokemon games we're talking about. If we really wanted to go "realistic" we would be feeding our pokemon daily.

And speaking of the Poketch, I miss it too. The pedometer's usefulness for breeding is so grand. If only they gave some poketch apps to the Pokegear.

So yeah, bring back the seeker, dont mind leaving out the radar, and if possible add some poketch features in.

Tyros April 22nd, 2010 3:43 PM

The phone numbers can be called any number of times during the trainer's designated times, so as far as I'm concerned, it works almost as well as the Vs. Seeker, and you don't need to charge it - just leave the trainer's route and make a call. So, I'm okay without the Seeker being included.

As for the Pokewalker... Well, as a chainer, I can say that it would've been fun to see more chaining in HG/SS. However, I recognize the fact that most Pokemon you would be able to chain in HG/SS would be redundant from D/P/Pt. After all, almost every Pokemon that appears in grass already appears between those first three games. What would they do, start putting fish Pokemon in the grass for HG/SS?

So, really, D/P/Pt for chaining, HG/SS for nostalgia fun times. Just deal with it and switch between the games whenever you want to do something specific.

Chaining for shinys with the pokeradar is a pain in the @%$!
I would always get some dumb pokemon to break my chair -.-

i don't use the VS. Seeker much either.

manego90 April 22nd, 2010 4:34 PM

pokeraders are so cool. i wish we could have them in real life.

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:29 PM

No Poke Radar??

Why isn't the PokeRadar in this game lol, how in the world are you suppose to get any shinies?

Aaron40 April 22nd, 2010 11:30 PM

yea it's annoying but you can use the pokerader on the pokewalker to get shinies I think

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:30 PM

Come again? Lol, it's kind of stupid, I mean how do they expect someone to get a Shiny Pokemon.

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:37 PM

it's nothing like the one in platinum you just need 10 watts or more and get a certain amount of steps and keep on using the pokerader, you will see 4 grass areas and they will come up with 1, 2 or 3 ! and click on the grass where see the !

morrison April 22nd, 2010 11:40 PM

Well You were up for luck in all generation before so I guess.... Youre up for luck again :P

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:41 PM

it's the same in platinum I would think

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:43 PM

I never knew how to do it lol, it confuses me everytime I try to use it in the grass it says this isn't the time or place..

xJordan360 April 22nd, 2010 11:44 PM

PokeRadar chainging is.... hard. You register the radar for easy use, is my suggestion. Then you use it. four patches of grass will shake. go into the one that shook (use repels so you dont get jumped before you get to the specific grass patch) and battle. When you defeat the pokemon, four more grass patches will shake. I've found that usually, it's the farthest patch from where you are standing that contains the same species of pokemon. Once you get a chain of like 200 pokemon, your oddsa are pretty good for a shiny.

Elite Four Lucian April 22nd, 2010 11:47 PM

Alright, I think I understood all that lol, thanks Jordan.

Edit: Thank you all, I should say ^_^

xJordan360 April 22nd, 2010 11:48 PM

It's been a few years since I've attempted at chaining, so I'd double check on Serebii or Bulbapedia, but I'm pretty sure thats the gist of it.

that's not really all correct, once you get to a chain of 40 you have a 1 out of 200 chance of finding one I think and there are good patches and bad patches now I know what they are, you can pm if you want and I will tell you more about chaining if you have platinum I would chain on there because it's easier.

Merged both PokeRader discussion threads together.

IMo - I suppose they just decided that HGSS didn't need it (and GSC didn't either and some routes may have been worse for it anyways the way many grass patches are organised?).

Also people less discussing how the Pokerader works please - as said there's guides and all for that (even in the D/P/Pt faq iirc?).
