Kanto Strategy Guide
Is anyone else getting the second strategy guide? As it's coming out on the 27th in America, I was wondering if anyone is actually getting it since its just as expensive as the first one.
I'm going to be getting it even though I have to wait until the end of May (UK) for it, as it's got the National Pokedex in it, so for me it'll be useful to have on hand, for me to use. |
well to be honest it has to come to australia wen i purchase mine but i know a heap about the kanto region in HG/SS anyway so yer there is no point really in the kanto stratergie so yer but im still buying it coz i need to find out some stuff
|
tbh, i was gonna, but now i dont feel like i need it :\
|
Why did they make two separate ones? That's stupid.

Yeah, Pokemon must be getting a lot of money though, as in a way there just splitting a guide in half.
It won't really affect me however as I've got a couple of games that I'll be trading in, so I'll be getting mine for more-a-less nothing. Also, I'm wondering if it'll include in the Pokedex where to get the Pokemon in Platinum and some of the other GBA games. If so then it'll be quite good value for money in a way. EDIT: I've decided against getting it, as I'm getting on fine without using my first one and for the pokedex, I'll just use the internet/ipod app. Certainly a cheaper way of doing it |
I got the first volume, but now I don't feel like I need it at all anymore. I mean, the first volume was really helpful, but for the Kanto part, I feel like I could just go search it on Google... You know what I'm saying? =/
|
Sorry, but the Kanto Guide owns. Really. The main features are the Kanto walkthrough and the National Pokedex, with locations for all of the Gen IV games, level-up movesets, tutor movesets, BP movesets, TM/HM movesets, Egg movesets, base stats, and of course, evolutions. But the guide also has EV training guides, backwards and forwards lookups for pokemon via moves, types, etc. It also has a list of combos, and... ok I'll stop now. Basically, it's the Gen IV pokebible, replacing even the Platinum guide in its usefulness. Skip the Johto guide and get this one.
|
I am going to get it just because I am currently using the Johto guide to get EVERYTHING and do EVERYTHING in Johto before moving on to Kanto, I would like to do the same there, so I will get the guide.
|
i bought it today. mostly because i am always needing to look something up
|
I'm probably going to get it, if, of course they have it already it Mexico.
|
Already got it. Personally, I don't feel like it was worth the extra cash I had to shell out for it, and I feel that both Johto and Kanto should have been in the same guide together. It was a decent guide though, and I personally like the feeling of having the guide whenever I need it.
|
Well, to tell the truth, they made 2 guides because they ran out of room in the first one. Thanks to all the content, they could not fit it all in the maximum page limit, hence why they made 2. I have already seen both of them at a local best buy, and the Kanto Guide contains a Poke'dex section as well.
But I am not getting it. Mainly because of the price. You paid $40 for the game, and to get the complete guide its another $40. I'll just use player-created walkthroughs. |
Hmm... I've just read BleuVII's post. I may change my mind when it comes out on the 30th of May in Britain. Plus I do have some games to trade in which, when added together equals to about £15.
It does seem to have quite a lot in it, so yeah I might get it and sell my Platinum guide. Also I don't get EV training and that so it might be able to explain it to me. But still undecided, so... |
Just a hint. If price is the main factor, you can get it off of Amazon for 50-70% of its actual price.
|
Kanto is SOOO straight forward though, why would you need a guide? And if you do, whats wrong with Seribii or Psypokes?
|
yeah, Romania NEVER has guides ... :(
I HARDLY got my game (really expensive too) . Look up on GameFAQs / Serebii and note it/print it . A lot easier and cheaper ! :) |
I've been told by GAME that Volume 2 is out on Monday over here (Ireland).
That means UK and possibly the rest of Europe should be getting it around the same time. |
I got it so I didn't have to go on the computer to check everything.
|
There's a SECOND one?
Uhm,Wow.. They make anything to get money.. They should have just included the section in the HG/SS guide. |
I agree. Then again I've just seen on ASDA that its being released on the 15th so I may order it as its also only £10.
|
to be honest, i find the quality appauling.
i love the fact it has everything you need to know, but there are mistakes in their that make you think; 'wow, nintendo, you mustn't like pkmn at all' especially in the D/P one, the best pkmn for each type, it has a roserade with gengars input, it had me in suspense :( . and the badges being mixed around, etc. |
OK, the first guide was released on the same day as the game which is fair enough. Kanto however was released 7 weeks after game release in America. For some reason in the UK the Kanto Guide is not out until the end of May over 9 weeks after the game. Dates courtesy of Amazon.
Please read the following with a considerable amount of sarcasm as I am not intentionally being insulting... unlike presumably the publishers! If the Americans are eseless enough to not need the second part guide for 7 weeks (does it really take that long to reach Kanto?). We in the UK must be really dumb not to need the guide for 9 weeks. Back to normal... I wonder who the "comedian" was (either side of "the pond") who decided we didn't need the second part for so long? I would have bought part two from Amazon US but decided to save a bit of money (I'd have probably had the guide now if I had done so). |t is too late now so I just patiently await the UK release... |
dont hate on gamefreak cause they exceded the page limit, if you really need a game guide thats YOUR problem, ( cause pokemon games aren't exactly puzzle games...except for maybe trozei )
Seriously am i going to have to call the wahbulance over here? oh yeah the fact that gamefreak even releases pokemon events shows that they care. |
Nice cards O.O I played Silver before only~ LOL
|
I most definitely will, if only to complete my SS/HG collection. I found Vol. 1 rather helpful. I'll have to look up the Australian release date...
|
I'll probably buy the Kanto guide for the Pokedex. I should have bought that instead of my $20 Leafgreen I got the other day.
|
Yeah, I ordered mine off Amazon a couple of days ago. But I've noticed that on different websites theres different release dates. Some say it was released on 30/5/10, others say it was 4/6/10 and on ASDA it says its released on 8/6/10.
It seems pretty good though as its apparently got a battling guide and a completion guide as well. |
I'll get it as it's always good to have the pokedex information in book form. Comes out the end of this week in the UK but I'll probably wait until I've beaten the game first (only got it a few days ago).
|
Yeah, I'm still stuck at the last member of the Elite Four! Plus I've had it since it came out, so I aim to beat the Elite Four by the time the book comes out, so I can start with the book. Knowing me though I'll still be stuck at the Champion.
I always think having a guide in book form is better as well as you can just flick through it, while if you use the internet it's harder to use as its all in black and white with no maps or anything. So I'm looking forward to getting mine on Friday/Saturday depending on when the delivery comes. I just hope that the release date won't be changed again. |
I might get it.. I got the first guide thinking that it'd be for both regions but then discovered that it was just for Johto :tired:
So now I have that guide I want the other to go with it plus it would be helpful. |
