EV Training Surprises
Has anyone EV trained a Pokemon and when it leveled up, BANG! a stat just went up by a lot?
My Gengar in SS often has all it's stats raised between +2 and +5.
I've had +5 to +11 thanks to the pokerus while ev training my Alakazam
Yes, had like a +11 attack gain on a level 70 Rayquaza once. EV trained in a low level Pokemon area.
well, i used route 201, 202 and orebough mine to ev train my cresselia and when it leveled up it got +35 in hp, +17 in def and +15 SP. Def, this is because finished ev training in 1 level. :)
When I EV trained my Porygon-Z in Speed(at the trophy garden), its speed was raised by 30something one level. I was like o.O OMFG lol
i got a plus 15 on 1 level up then another plus 17! really awsome!
I got +18 HP when i did my Articuno in SS. :o
I've gotten +60-something on Dialga. I try to complete EVing within one level just so I'll see the giant gains.
+25 on my Honchkrow's attack and +15 on its speed.
I'm totally awesome. |
i feel sad right now, the highest gain in any stat is my Blissey at 7 in HP, the second highest is machamp +6 in attack.
My highest is a +14 speed. XD
is the highest 64 in any stat? :P
I think the highest i've ever gained was about 60 when I EV trained a Mewtwo in Special Attack or speed.
I was quite surprised to see such a high number. xD |
My Luxray's been getting a consistent +6 in either Attack or Speed, but that's not much.
There's a screenshot on a Facebook group that has somebody's Gallade leveling to 96 and getting a +50 in Attack and +63 in Sp. Def. The poster also said that it was rare candied to 95 and EV trained from there. |
+12 in Defence on a Noctowl once - no PokeRUS at that time.
I got +38 On My Electivire On Soul Silver :P
+22 on my Tangrowth.
Ev for atack+spec atak use unkown in ruins of alph. |
you know what, i switch trained my hoppip to get the evs, but i didn't realize that it only get half as much with switch training, so i had to get another hoppip. :(
I got +26hp once it was fighting whimsurs on ruby
I was once grinding on Magikarps with my Jolteon on Pt.
And Speed went up like 19+ ... LOLLLZ ! I was really surprised . ;) |
I once got a +19 in attack on my Snorlax, Deloris.
I'ma go try get 64+ on a Pokemon by training it all up at 99. =P
I've only gotten like +5 on ATK on my Heracross...but it does that every time it levels up xD
and how does it get "half as much" when you switch EV train? Half of 1 is 1/2 and you cant have 1/2 EV |
I don't know about half as much. it's probably just 1. any i just got another hoppipwith better ivs.
you know, i just thought about what is the highest amounts of evs can you get off a single pokemon.
well here's an example: a pokemon who gives 3 points in ev (e.g. Crobat), holding the same power item boost for that stat (e.g. Crobat-Power Anklet) and have Pokerus. and that would be: (3+4)x2=14 points! that would be a lot quicker! |
Na...tried it.Doesn't work.
It's 3 x 2 + 4 = 10 |
Bart Crab is actually right, Pokerus + Power Items stack.
Pokerus + Power Bracer + Staraptor (+3/attack) = (3+4)x2 = 14 EVs. |

When I was EV training Speed on that guy with 6 Magikarp it jumped up a whole lot. ^_^ But naturally I only leveled after I was finished, stupid Magikarp give rubbish experience.

On the original topic of this post... You know what'd be the most hilarious? Getting something to level 99 without any effort points at all somehow, then effort training it all in that level, and letting it go to level 100. If you maxed a stat, you'd see a +67 or something like it in there. Assuming you didn't use Vitamins for the first 100 EVs. *Nods some* If you did, then you'd see something along a +42.
Either way, it'd be amazing. - Tyros |
It's possible you counted wrong or forgot to make a marking after a battle or something or other. Either way, EVs are NOT cut when you switch.
I got a +33 to my Mewtwo's attack after it fought Bruno in several Elite Four runs. It also had the Macho Brace equipped and Pokerus. But attack wasn't the stat I wanted to see an increase in (though I wasn't actually trying to EV Mewtwo, I was Exp Sharing some other Pokemon and Mewtwo happened to be the Psychic type I picked for my team).
I was EV Training a Flygon in Defense-it beat an Azumarill and got +12 in Def. It had the Pokerus and was holding a Band...so yeah, I was happy. :D
For some reason, I fell like I am not ev training properly. I have pokerus or a pokemon that has been cured from pokerus, with the power belt and I ev train on geodudes and hippopotas (lvl 24ish, in the manican tunner, for defence). I do not count how many battels i do, but I use a rare candy to see how many evs i got, but it only shows like a +2 or 3. Am I doing something wrong? Should I not use a rare candy to level my poke up and see how many evs i got? or should i fight more pokes? is there a specific number for a certain number of ev's?

Definitely. This happened when my Happiny evolved into Chansey...BANG! I was like "woah." Its HP was only going +3 but as soon as it evolved +8 and +10 and stuff.
My ev trained mewtu got 35 special attack at once. I did the ev training within on level.
The highest for me was my Garchomp's attack going up +22 I just trained with the Bibarels near Hearthome for like half an hour haha
i had a +27 on my regices hp with pokerus and the power item. and ive had just as high, if not higher when training my other pokes
