Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, & Emerald Remake Speculation Thread

*Stickied* :D

In Pokemon Diamond, there were many things that hinted towards a G/S remake (which was made) some of these were

1. The Traveling Man who gives you the egg says that Pokemon eggs hatch when it is with energetic Pokemon, and mentions Professor Elm. A reference to Professor Elm of Johto, and how Pokemon eggs were introduced there.
2. The Pal Park Pokeballs are gold and silver with a crystal in the middle.
3. Next to the resort hotel, if you go into some guy's house, he mentions the Tin Tower, home of Ho-Oh. He also mentions Whirl Islands, home of Lugia. Finally, he mentions the dancing Clefairy, which you can see if you go to Mt. Moon on Friday.
4. Drifloon comes only on Friday, just as the dancing Clefairy. Lapras also only comes on Friday, too.
5. Kurt's unique Pokeballs are obtainable in the game, but only by hacking.
6. By hacking, you can get your Pokemon to be from Johto, meaning the game is trade-able with a Johto game...
7. Jasmine visits you, gives you Waterfall, and mentions that you should visit Johto sometime.
8. The SecretPotion says in its description that it's from Cianwood City.
9. At the beginning of the game, it mentions the red Gyarados from G/S/C.
10. Firered and Leafgreen were remakes of games needing them, so that leaves 2 more games to need them!
11. Crasher Wake and Chuck hold their arms in the same way.
12. After Bebe gives you an Eevee, she mentions Bill having a bunch of them.
13. There is a GS ball in the middle of every Pokemon Center.
14. Sweet Honey is similar to headbutting a tree in G/S/C.
15. Both games have a lighthouse that you need to do something in to make a gym leader appear.
16. The time thing all started in G/S/C.
17. The night guards are here again, who only fight you at night.
18. In the place where you get Shaymin, there is a Dragon Tamer who says,"It's been years since I've left the Dragon's Den" after you battle him.

I'm NOT saying this is correct but from what i've seen, i've picked up a few things which MAY hint towards Pokemon R/S remakes in Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver;

Pokemon HG/SS

1. Steven Stone appears in the game (Getting Hoenn starters)
2. Steven Stone also appears in an event (Latios & Latias)
3. Steven Stone says "Our fun will have to wait for the right time"

3. Bill mentions Lanette and the Hoenn region
4. The Hoenn region is also mentiond by various people throughout the game
5. Kyogre & Groudon & Rayquaza are obtainable (Blue, Red & Jade Orb)
6. Hoenn Sound (Pokemon Radio Show to catch Pokémon originated in Hoenn)
7. If you talk to one of the people in the Celadon Mansion, they will say "We are remaking an old game, but this is quite a challenge. Old fans would not want usw to mess with their good memories..."
8. The Root and Claw Fossils are on display in the Pewter City Museum of Science.
9. he Pokemon Centers throughout Johto and Kanto have a Emerald Pokeball with a black background around it on the floor below the nurse's desk.

these hints are similar to the ones in Pokemon Diamond & Pearl which we're hints for G/S remakes and Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver we're made, there might be some in Pokemon Black & White too. However, that's just my theory, what do you think? Also, if you've spotted any more please post them in the comments and I will add to the list, thanks!

Pokemon B&W (Spoiler Alert)
Spoiler:

1. In a town, you receive HM06 which contains Dive. Dive was first introduced in Generation III (Pokemon R/S/E) and hasn't been in any other game since.
2. In the anime, it is revealed in BW006 that Fennel's Munna's Dream Eater has the same effect as the Dream Visualiser Devon wanted to make in the anime. But as Munna is a Pokémon from Unova, Devon might not have known about the Pokémon.
3. Both 6th Gym Leaders of Black and White and Ruby and Sapphire are female Flying type specialists and their designs look very similar.
4. The genders of the Isshu Elite Four members that specialize in Ghost and Dark types match the Hoenn Elite Four. Both Ghost type specialists are female while both Dark type trainers are male. Only the order is switched between the two leagues.
5. Rapid currents appear on some Isshu water routes. They function exactly like the rapid currents in Seafloor Cavern from Hoenn.
6. The official map of the Isshu region for the upcoming Black and White games was revealed today. It has a massive desert just like the Hoenn region. -
7. You need orbs to awaken the Legendaries as you did in Ruby & Sapphire. Credit to Rawrinism
8. Your Rivals are your friends, not enemies like in Kanto & Johto (as similar to Ruby & Sapphire). - Credit to Rawrinism
9. If you talk to the lady in the market in Driftveil city she mentions that the herbs are imported from another region - posiblily from Lavaridge Town in Hoenn? - Credit to Rawrinism
10. The similarities in apperance between N and Wally. - Credit to Rawrinism
11. In Hoenn and Unova, the first stage of the fire-type starters does not have flames sprouting from there body, while the other regions' does. - Credit to Rawrinism
12. Both in B/W and R/S, you get the region's common birds late-ish in the game. eg; Pidove is found at Route 3 and Tailow is found in Petalburg Forest. Pidgey, Hoothoot, and Starly are both found early in there respective games - Credit to Rawrinism
13. Pokémon BW & RSE, the soundtracks of the Elite Four have vast similarities
14. The Riches family is the second family to offer their own battle challenge to the player, the first being the Winstrate family in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald.
15. In Pokémon Black & White, the Dive Ball which was introduced in RSE has returned to its original game mechanic (to catch Pokémon under water easier) but there are no underwater Pokémon in Unova.

Also this is probably known to many but Gen III merchandise has been launched selling in Japan. More recently several Hoenn event Pokémon are being distributed in Japan from March 2012 onwards.

If you come across any more speculations towards remakes for R/S/E in Pokémon Black & White, please let me know VIA PM/VM, thanks.

It wouldn't surprise me. People would buy it and, when it comes to nintendo, that's all that matters

Yeah, Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver have sold millions of units within a month so I would of thought they'd do the same for Ruby & Sapphire which would probally sell millions just like previous pokemon games, I personally loved Pokemon R/S/E & Hoenn so i'd LOVE to see a remake.

Nathanyiel April 28th, 2010 11:06 AM

There are a large number of reasons I would say no, but I think that Nintendo will likely make it for the simple reason that it will sell.

The only real reason FRLG and HGSS were necessary is that there was no compatibility between the originals and the third or fourth generation. Ruby and Sapphire are still compatible, and as such a remake would be obsolete. Also, you can already obtain Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza, not to mention Latias and Latios, in HGSS. In short, there's no reason to make a remake, but why wouldn't they?

Pokemafia April 28th, 2010 11:30 AM

The title of this got me interested, I think after pkmn black and white they'll remake green and red, then ruby and saphire. just mo.

Timbjerr April 28th, 2010 12:08 PM

It won't be very practical or necessary unless the fifth gen isn't compatible with the GBA games (i.e. exclusive to the DSi or DSiXL) and it has a huge techological leap from the GenIII games.

Regardless, I'd probably still buy it. Hoenn is pretty much my favorite region in any pokemon game ever. :P

blue April 28th, 2010 12:21 PM

Yeah, but regardless of R/S/E being compatible with the DS, it would still make alot of money if it we're remade and that's mainly what Nintendo are after also if R/S/E sold millions of units (which it did 10 Million+) then they would think that remakes would too likewise with G/S/C, not to mention that it would have changes to it most probally and if it we're released it may be in 3D on the 3DS, and at the speed their creating new consoles (Dsi, Dsi XL, 3DS) none of them are able to play GBA games by the time the 5th Generation games have been out for a year or so, the Nintendo Ds/Lite will be old and no GBA games will be compatible with the latest consoles but then again that's just my opinion.

Manga April 28th, 2010 12:33 PM

This is the easiest question ever.

HELL YES!

I personally love the R/S/E series.

Izanagi April 28th, 2010 1:18 PM

Aren't the RSE games obsolete? I dunno about the XL or anything, but the DSi doesn't have a GBA slot.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire April 28th, 2010 1:27 PM

yeah the remakes will be Called Magmaruby and Aquasapphire... but then again people thought the Johto/kanto remakes were going to be called Golddawn and Silverdusk or GDSD but they called it GSDS which i never understood why...

blue April 28th, 2010 1:29 PM

My original favourite was G/S/C but after the remake, I think I like R/S/E the most, My favourite region is the Hoenn region and i'd LOVE for a remake so much.

Green & Red have already been remade.

Fli April 28th, 2010 2:47 PM

While I believe that Nintendo will remake R/S/E, they would remake it for the money. If we are talking about the games becoming obsolete, then FR/LG are gen III too and why would you remake a remake? (Although, I suppose it is possible.) I know that Hg/Ss (or S/G/C) has a Kanto region, but the region is three years after everything that has happened in Fr/Lg (or R/B/Y if you prefer) and can not be counted as covering a dying Fr/Lg game(not that they are dying- just in theory if we were claiming R/S/E is growing obsolete).

On the other hand, if gen V is made only for the DSi or 3DS (unlikely for 3DS, if their release dates are kept as they are right now, but things can change), then the excuse of the games becoming obsolete has some ground. It becomes too much of a hassle to bring pokemon over to your new game (but it is still possible and Nintendo could claim that if you desperately need one of your R/S/E pokemon there is a way unlike G/S/C, yet it means less money for them if they chose to claim that). Again, though, the question of Fr/Lg can be brought back up. Should half of gen III be brought up-to-date while the other half ignored? There are fans for both (fewer for Fr/Lg perhaps, but I'm one of them and I'm sure there are some others).

Sorry if this post is confusing/long. I'm just trying to look at the situation from different (though slightly biased) perspectives. My personal opinion is that I don't really want a remake or think it is necessary. I never really enjoyed emerald that much (but I know that is just me and for many hoen was the best region, please don't shoot me because of my opinion).

My final answer: I don't know, but suspecting yes (because of $money$ which wins every time).

Dillon_68 April 28th, 2010 7:33 PM

My favorite Gen, they better remake!

Sweed April 29th, 2010 6:11 AM

I think after the release of the Gen V games a remake of these two games could be the first Pokemon games released for the 3DS

Zebeedoo April 29th, 2010 10:54 AM

I'd love it if they remade Ruby & Sapphire. I started off with Emerald back then... so yes, I'd buy the remakes if they ever do decide to remake them.

Quixestic April 29th, 2010 11:05 AM

If Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald were remade, I would hope it wouldn't be until after Black/White... and, for that matter, a bit of time after those two's releases. Iunno, as much as I love pokemon, I don't want there being OMGSOMANY of 'em being made, especially with the number of remakes there have been already (does that make sense?)

Still, WERE remakes made, and I was able to afford them, then yes... I admit I'd probably end up getting them. D:

However, considering the fact that I'm sure R/S/E remakes would be for a newer DS (or perhaps even a whole new handheld altogether?) ... would be even longer until I actually picked them up.

blue April 29th, 2010 11:27 AM

Yeah, if it were being made it'd have to be 3/4 Years AFTER Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver (2012/13) That's following the rough cycle too, Pokemon R/S We're released in 2002/3, and G/S got a remake 10 years on, but R/B got a remake 8 years on so I don't know :P

Meowth! That's right! April 30th, 2010 1:21 AM

Yeah I'd buy it though the 3rd gen wasn't really my favourite, the best thing about it was Mudkip in my opinion.

PokéToast April 30th, 2010 10:15 AM

They better make a R/S/E remake! I think the one thing I really want it for would be the Battle Frontier. Emerald's Frontier was just the best, I loved how planned it was. With HG/SS and Platinum, they weren't that good, they seemed rushed IMO...

Also, who wouldn't want to hear a *better* remake of this theme?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc0ecBXoLbA

Even with the whole GBA games being compatible, and G/S/C and R/B/Y only got remakes so that it would be easier to get Gen 1 & 2 Pokémon, it's still a hassle doing it 6 Pokémon at a time, and then quitting your game, changing the date and repeat. *Well, for R/S/E and R/B/Y games at least.* With a remake, it would be easier to do it over WiFi, or with another DS/with a friend.

Besides, it'll make money, why not do a remake?

Flare Riqueza April 30th, 2010 12:35 PM

They've brought out the DSi and DSiXL, which have no GBA compatability.

Also, you could get the Johto legends and starters, and most pokemon, in 3rd Gen, couldn't you?

Them legendaries, starters and wild pokemon from Hoenn were just added so you can get, I think, all 493 in a generation (especially with event Celebi and Mew coming out soon.)

They will make R/S remakes. Hopefully, 5th Generation will be on the current platform (If they release another, already, it'll be rushed, and crap. And, honestly, still owning an original Emerald, the screenies'd have to be good for me to buy another console, particularly as I tend to only buy them for pokemon games).

blue April 30th, 2010 2:38 PM

Yeah, Well with the DSi & Dsi XL and I assume the 3DS not having GBA slots, means R/S/E won't be compatible with the current handheld consoles (DSi, Dsi XL and so on) therefore after 5th gen it's a higher possibility it will be remade.

bakumon13579 April 30th, 2010 2:50 PM

i didnt like the fifth gen it had good starters and legends but they wernt tat good compared to others

ggctuk May 1st, 2010 11:38 AM

Then by this extension they'd have to remake FireRed/LeafGreen.

I doubt they would remake them as HGSS have Pal Park which can interact with Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.

I would really buy them, would bring back memories.

Why would they remake a remake? I would see them skipping out on FireRed and LeafGreen and just moving on to make Diamond and Pearl, right?

NickofTime May 1st, 2010 7:45 PM

I kinda just bought soulsilver to get legendaries that i wasnt able to catch ( no lugia event or ho oh event for me )
but i wouldn't buy those two remakes.... i already can get those pokemon so i dont really care.... if there was a new pokemon maybe i'd consider it but if there is no change in gameplay then why would you buy it.... doesnt make sense
the only thing cool about 3rd gen was abilities and mudkip

blue May 2nd, 2010 1:49 AM

It would make sence if they remade R/S they've already remade R/B, Now G/S therefore it would make sence if they remade R/S next, with the Dsi and upcoming handhelds being incompatible with GBA games.

MartinJF May 2nd, 2010 4:53 AM

I dont think the will make a Ruby/Sapphire remake as most of the legendaries in Hoenn can now be found in the 4th gen games... I would love to see a remake though, or at least I would love to see the return of the HM move dive.

Clefairies May 2nd, 2010 5:05 AM

My personal opinion, give it a few years and a remake probably will happen.
I'd be pleased with this as I never played through the Hoenn reigon.

GlitchCity May 2nd, 2010 5:49 AM

I would defintley buy it. But it might hint towards more of an Emerald remake than just a RS one.

Godofurii May 2nd, 2010 6:17 AM

I think they will make a R/S/E Remake after Black and White are released and then they'll make a 5th Gen remake of D/P/Pl then make a 6th Gen game, 6th Gen Remake of Black and White etc etc.

adamskillz May 2nd, 2010 1:37 PM

i think they'll remake these games in Gen V.

The gen I games were remade 2 gens later in Gen III and the Gen II games were remade 2 gens later in Gen IV.

I think RSE will follow this pattern

Lol, it's going to go on forever, remakes after remakes, soon it will be remakes of remakes :P

thewinna May 2nd, 2010 3:15 PM

Nintendo said that the pokemon company would be making a game on the 3ds. the japanese website said that the 5th generation pokemon games would be made on the ds, and they make a remake every other generation. IM BETING ON A REMAKE!

Velvex the Øverlørd May 2nd, 2010 5:34 PM

I probably would buy a Ruby/Sapphire re-make, I loved the originals. The only re-make I wouldn't buy is a Diamond/Pearl remake. I regret buying Pearl in the first place. e_e But I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby/Sapphire were remade, seeing that Red/Blue and Gold/Silver were.

Impo May 3rd, 2010 11:33 PM

i hope they do, i loved the R/S/E series ^_^
especially Wally :D

and with the remakes thingy,
i reckon nintendo will keep remaking pkmn to suit the new consoles out,
lets face it, pkmn is an awesome adventure, lets not leave the early gens out xD ;)

I would buy them! I'd love to play through the hoenn reigon again! I really loved Ruby and Sapphire, they had so many new things! (Back when it was introduced)

That, and i want to battle Team Magma and Team Aqua again! And i wanna be able to catch Regice, Regirock and Registeel on a DS game without having to go to an event!

Epic Failure! We Have Not Seen any Fifth Gen Except The Z's.

NickofTime May 8th, 2010 11:11 AM

Personally i would like a whole new game with different concepts, than nintendo just rehashing old concepts. You don't have to have the hoenn region to make a game with primarily 3rd gen pokemon.
Its kinda like, been there done that, kthxbai
Plus the baddies in hoenn sucked, can you say eco terrosism?

PiPVoda May 8th, 2010 9:19 PM

They will remake them, and when they do I'll be in line to buy it!

Mortalis May 8th, 2010 9:40 PM

I'm pretty sure after the 5th Gen Games are released, that will be the next game. The Hoenn remakes, they HAVE to make those Remakes. They remade every one else. I would totally buy it, Hoenn was awesome. : ]

Reliving the story in the HG / SS style or 5th Gen Style would be amazing. Think of the Sky Pillar, and Rayquaza appearing and such.

HaloSonic May 16th, 2010 7:56 PM

it is going to happen. i think i wouldve outgrown it by then, tho.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire May 16th, 2010 8:10 PM

There are going to be remakes and they are going to be the best remakes ever much like HGSS out did FRLG MRSA will out do HGSS and the other games in the 5 gen... though Isshu is coming out as a pretty decent region to explore... would love to see Hoenn with the same graphics, would make it feel bigger and people would forget that almost half of Hoenn is water...

If they don't remake R/S/E, I will stab five puppies. I really want to play through the Hoenn again. I mean c'mon best games of the pokemon series.

SunStorm55 May 18th, 2010 10:52 AM

Definitely, generation 3 and 4 both have three new games and two remakes, Maybe it will be the same for the 5th generation. Especially with the absence of a GBA slot on the DSi now the third gen games can't be played on newer systems. So I would expect to see them sometime after Black/White/Third Game (Grey?). Would I buy it? No, but only because I really think Pokemon was best in the days of generations 1 and 2. After that I think it went downhill. (Though generation 3 was not too bad.)

Pkmn-Master May 18th, 2010 12:59 PM

Gen II hinted at a remake of Gen I:

* Being able to catch Pokemon from R/B/G/Y
* Going to Kanto
* 8-bit graphics.

Joking aside, I really don't think the "hints" are actually "hints" IMO.
They are simply just certain things that are mentioned so the games feel like sequels.
Other things are just a coincidence.

Charizard632 May 18th, 2010 3:21 PM

Yes, there will be a remake of Pokemon R/S. Pokemon Dry Ruby and Wet Sapphire are the names of the remakes, in my opinion. Here's the pattern I figured out.

3 - 1
4 - 2
5 - 3 - 1
6 - 4 - 2
7 - 5 - 3 - 1

Who knows, there could be a remake of Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green in the Fifth generation of Pokemon!

By then we would have had a Black & White Remake and a Diamond & Pearl Remake, It's hard to imagine what the graphics would be like 10 years on if they were still remaking & making the games.

Flare Riqueza May 21st, 2010 8:58 AM

As long as they re-make R/S I'm happy. I dunno if I'll buy B/W, or purchase HeartGold for cheapness.

But R/S I'll get, even if I'm at university then

Yeah, all's I want is for R/S to be remade, I LOVED Hoenn & the Storyline in R/S/E, they also had the best Teams (Aqua & Magma)

It seems like it was just yesterday when I was eagerly awaiting new details each month for the third generation. I don't know, it just feels like they're so...recent, it's almost hard to believe I was 12 when they came out lol.

I don't know how they could improve the game, I mean, I know they definitely can, it's just, it seems like they JUST came out haha...

I Know Lol, Dosen't feel like D/P has been out for 3 years.

Flare Riqueza May 21st, 2010 11:29 AM

Does it not? The graphics on D/P/Pt look extremely dated, compared to Hg/Ss, which only has one flaw - floating on 3D bits.

Emerald and LeafGreen on the other hand....they look brilliant. So bright and cheerful! Emerald in particular, I think it's coz it runs faster, and as Hoenn's meanta be tropical, they deliberately coloured everything lighter

Xanatos13 May 21st, 2010 5:13 PM

Hopefully they will for the 3DS ^_^ Don't need another remake on DS, though.

adhdguitar May 21st, 2010 6:35 PM

I think its a little early to be talking about Black/White remakes but, if Nintendo went that far, what would they be called?

Obama Black and McCain White?

FreakyLocz14 May 21st, 2010 7:53 PM

Regarding an Emerald remake, the remade G/S this time and not Crystal. They just incorporated Crystal features into the storyline.

I think they incorporate Emerald features into the R/S remakes.

Ah you guys understand me:). I want to see Sky pillar in 3D and the sky, the Rayquaza cutscene, ect.

thedestinedblade May 21st, 2010 9:19 PM

I wouldn't mind remakes for Generation 3. Hopefully they make Wally into a better rival. I liked his character despite his rather boring design.

myrrh25 May 23rd, 2010 8:35 AM

My jaw just dropped when I thought of Kyogre coming in crashing through under the sea, Groudon busting through a wall, and Rayquaza blasting through the skies with a face-on view of him, then zooming straight into his face.

.....daaaaaamn

I love Hoenn and I'll be dissapointed if theres no remakes <3

pieguy259 May 24th, 2010 4:17 PM

I want to see an Emerald remake especially. Best Hoenn game, IMO.

blue May 26th, 2010 7:24 AM

I also noticed something else, a music similarality.

Pokemon Platinum - Resort Area House

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3oiD3DhR5k

Pokemon R/S/E - LilyCove City

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MStZNaTQLs8

Notice the similarity?

Will the R/S remakes be made (and will they be DSi/3DS exclusive)

If the title of this is too long to be shown, it should be:

Will the R/S remakes be made (and will they be DSi/3DS exclusive)

An Emerald remake would also be nice, of course, but since there was no remake of Japanese Blue, Yellow, or Crystal, it would be unlikely that Emerald would get a remake unless the presence of both Magma and Aqua changes that.

A reason for DSi/3DS exclusivity (is that a word?) would be to stop owners of the Phat or Lite to import mons from the original R/S to the remakes (which would be useful due to Gen III Zigzagoon having only Pickup as an ability.)

kokopuffchan May 26th, 2010 4:20 PM

i really hope they make a r/s remake. i never liked emerald, but i loved ruby and sapphire. the storyline was great. the game was fun. i loved everything about it. <3
but if they make it for DSi i will scream. i bought GBA for pokemon. i bought DS for pokemon. i am not getting a DSi for no reason, as my DS works just fine <3.

GreenStorm May 26th, 2010 5:52 PM

I personally think it's way too early to make a remake of R/S/E. In years and because it was only one console ago.

how many consoles ago doesn't matter. It's years and generations. It's been 7 years since Gen 3 came out, and I'm sure in another 3 years somebody born 7 years ago will start playing pokemon games (if not now)..Well that's besides the point, if things go like they have with FR/LG and HG/SS then we will see a RSE remake in gen 5. I don't think they will come out though for at least another 3 years (maybe 4). Black and white, the follow-up to black and white, and maybe a new PMD/Ranger game will come out before the RSE remakes do. I think they will be this generation though. We already can obtain Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh pokemon due to the HG/SS remakes and w/ them taking the GBA slot out for good we'll more than likely see RSE remakes coming soon to make all pokemon created obtainable.

dc_united May 26th, 2010 6:37 PM

Not really. Gen III still holds up graphically and musically as a pretty solid game. Plus they don't have the battery failures of Gen II and the horrible graphics and comparatively short story of Gen I.

In another 10 years, they'll definitely do remakes. Though what they can add to stop Hoenn from sucking is going to take up a good three cartridges.

dooxer May 26th, 2010 6:57 PM

right now, its too early. we need a handfull of other features to offer before we should seriously consider this. caaaalm down people.

Fli May 26th, 2010 7:02 PM

I suspect they will be remade (hopefully for the 3DS because of how much better they could be done) for the money and, as PiPVoda said, we need the Hoenn region on a DS.

But, there is still the argument that gen I and II were remade because they had no compatibility with the newer gens at all. Also, what about FR/LG? (I know there was Kanto in HG/SS and we can get all the pokemon, but it really isn't the same.) Do you remake a remake?

So, in review/summary: Will they remake Sapphire, Ruby (or Emerald- I think it was different enough with the two evil teams and all)? Yes, most likely; For 3DS? Ummm, maybe? It would be cool though.

Also, (sorry for my rant, I just want to point out something real fast) how do we know this remaking games is a set pattern? Two remakes that have other reasons as to why they could have been remade do not a set pattern make. We (I'm including myself because I know I do this too) try to force pokemon into nice patterns and real world things (every pokemon is based off of some animal, every place comes from somewhere in the world, nothing can be pulled straight from imagination); Pokemon is still a game and does not have to follow all (or any) of our world's rules. /rant Thanks:D

Rengoku May 26th, 2010 7:41 PM

I'll so stab Nintendo if they ever make it DSi-exclusive.

Germaniac May 26th, 2010 7:42 PM

I've make thread like this year ago, yes there will

Don't worry it will probably only be on the 3DS. Considering an RSE remake is at least a good 3-4 years away the 3DS will have firmly established itself as the 'now' system. Sorry DS, buddy o-pal, your days are limited.

DXrobots May 26th, 2010 9:04 PM

why remake R/S? I think Gold and silver is as far as they should go. Beside Generation 3 is still useful with the Migrate ability

Yeah, currently with the DS Lite, but once that becomes outdated, with the Dsi, Dsi XL, 3DS, ect. there wont be any compatibilty for GBA games.

GoldvsRed May 27th, 2010 10:08 AM

A lot of people are saying that they wouldn't want one because they didn't like the original R/S/E... However, if they remade them, they could fix those faults. If they do remake them, however, I'd like them to handle it in much the same manner as HG/SS; at their core, they'd be remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, but they'd have lots of references to Emerald.

Yeah, they can also add new features, like they did in HG/SS they also inserted the features from Crystal into HG/SS so they would probally do that with a R/S remake.

Ravecat May 30th, 2010 5:17 AM

Emerald was and still is my favourite Pokémon game.

So yes, I'd buy a remake.

I'm assuming that they'd keep Steven as the Champion, leaving Wallace as the Sootopolis Gym Leader, but they could add in Juan as an optional, secret boss.

OmegaRuby and AlphaSapphire May 31st, 2010 2:37 PM

The cool thing about this is that we would most likely get all three legendaries and have a story like that of emerald is what i'm expecting, rather than just mascot+rayquaza like in the original RS. Kyogre coming out of the sea would look much cooler than Lugia out of the waterfall in SS, as we would most likely have better graphics then what we did with HGSS...ah can't wait...

Hibaru June 1st, 2010 5:12 AM

I'm quite sure! There will be the 3rd Gen remakes! Who knows, 3rd gen also had a Remake of 1st. To me, If the 3rd gen RSE won't compatible anymore to the 5th gen so as FRLG, Then why not FireRed and Leafgreen remake too? That's why I think there might be a chance we're getting two Generation remakes. 3rd and 1st! That's what I think in my mind, We'll just have to wait...

Pokémon Ranger ✩ Moriarty June 1st, 2010 7:07 AM

I would love to see an Emerald remake. Having both Aqua and Magma competing against each other and you, as well as the Battle Frontier, was amazing :D I'd love to see it rendered nicely for the DSi/3DS systems. :]

Hibaru June 1st, 2010 8:51 PM

well maybe more Touchscreen feature like HGSS such as :
-Bottom Screen menu.
-Mini Games. RSE sure had a lot in the Game Corner.
-Pokemon Follow us.
-Maybe like Pokeathlon appear in the Game! :D

Satoshi_poketo monsta June 1st, 2010 11:47 PM

YES!!! 3rd Gen is my favorite Gen ever!!! Like this thread, Nice Job! :D

Flare Riqueza June 2nd, 2010 4:17 AM

Provided they'll give us it on DSi, with just Hg/Ss standard graphics, pokemon following etc. instead of how Black/White appear, then I'll be happy

Hibaru June 2nd, 2010 6:13 AM

This Suicune™ guy tells that there's a Hint of 3rd gen remakes. I can see his point and it does make sense. To me the Hint is the characters.
Cloth

http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/8464/brendan6.png
Both has a similar cloth to me. though the 5th gen male has Blue and Brendan has Red colors.

Symbol
http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/400/brendan5.png
Both has also a similar Symbols on their hat. Though Brendan only show the symbol half. But still similar.

That's just my thought! I don't know how people think the same like me or not. But to me those similarity is sure giving me Hints that we'll getting a similar systems like 3rd gen and also 3rd gen to remake.

Blu Beast, Damon June 6th, 2010 8:02 AM

After Black and White...

So far in the every Generation, there has been a new batch of pokemon introduced in a new game, and a remake of that game. It's been happening ever since the 3rd gen. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald was the new and FR/LG was a remake of the old. Same with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and HG/SS.

So what are they gonna remake now?

Personally I think a remake of the Hoenn region in 3D design similiar to the screens seen in the 5th gen is next.

Pearlone June 6th, 2010 8:55 AM

I was hoping first for a remake of Kanto, you know the originals, but maybe add to the storyline, where you are able to go to Hoenn, meet May and Brendan and whatnot. I think that kind of game would be great.

Shining Meganium June 6th, 2010 8:57 AM

Hmmm... It will inevitably happen and though remakes of 2 of the greatest pokemon games would be much appreciated i personally think they should try to come up with more original storylines as the outcome of a R/S/E remake would be somewhat predictable.

But they've already remade Kanto twice - once in FR/LG, and then again in HG/SS. :|

I would love to see a Hoenn remake. There's so much hate for that Region in the fandom, but it's one of my favourites...even though I hated the graphics of R/S/E. :]

HugSomebody June 6th, 2010 9:20 AM

Ruby and Sapphire will most likely be remade next (and I can't wait, because I would LOVE to see Hoenn in 3-D!). ^^ And then after that, a new region will be made.

I'm not agreeing with what you said.
They remade HGSS according to GSC, and in GSC there's a "few years later from RBY" Kanto, so of course it's added in.

And I will say the next remake is Hoenn.
They won't remake a remade.

Mmm, true, but I was making the point that there are now three generations of games featuring Kanto, so it would be nice to see the other regions catch a break. Or some brand new ones. But preferably, Hoenn!

A Pixy June 6th, 2010 9:30 AM

I don't really want to think that far.

I don't think that far about anything.

Cyberglass June 6th, 2010 10:39 AM

I would love a Ruby/Sapphire remake. Hoenn was the region with the most diverse and beautiful terrain, and the GBA graphics never really did it justice.

^ That's what I think. R/S/E were the best games in the series. But... I don't know, it would look much better on the DS. (duh)

LethalTexture June 6th, 2010 11:01 AM

I personally would like to see a remake of Hoenn, despite it perhaps being my least favourite region. But that doesn't say much, since I loved them all, and spent many happy hours in Hoenn, along with some of my favourite Pokémon coming from Gen III. But if I had to list them in order, Hoenn would be at the bottom.

Whether its necessary or not remains to be seen, but they'd be stupid not to, really. Especially considering the extra money they'd make.

Eurydice June 6th, 2010 11:23 AM

im guessing they will release remakes of r/s/e. i would really like it if they made a remake of the 1st generation for the ds.
