Monotype Challenge

Ok, so PlatinumPiano can't run the Monotype Challenge for Red, Blue, and Yellow anymore, and has given me permission to do so. This, obviously is a challenge for the original games using Pokemon of a single type. If you are coming from the other thread and I do not have you on the challengers list, just tell me your progress and I will gladly add you. If you are new, then welcome! And now for the rules:

1. Only use Pokemon of one type.
2. Dual type Pokemon are allowed, and count towards both types (i.e: Gyarados counts for either a Water or a Flying type challenge).
3. Pokemon that evolve into the type are okay to use (i.e: Charmander can be used in a Flying type challenge, because its evolution, Charizard, is part Flying).
4. No glitches. This means no Missingno, and no Mew glitch if you are doing a Psychic challenge. The exception: Mew can be used as an HM Slave (a Pokemon whose only use is to know HM moves that you don't want your good Pokemon knowing).
5. You may use up to two HM slaves on your team. They may not be used in any kind of battle (except wild Pokemon battles if they have to evolve to know the HMs you want them to know) and they must be kept in the back of your party. You may not use them as a shield while you heal your other Pokemon.
6. Your first Pokemon must be obtained before battling Lt. Surge. Up until then, you may use whoever you want. If you cannot obtain a Pokemon of that type (Ice, Ghost, Dragon) you may hack one in. If you are doing the Ice type, you may hack in either a Shellder or Seel, and if you are using Ghost or Dragon, obviously you would be putting in a Gastly or Dratini.
7. No using Legendaries (the exception again is Mew as an HM slave).
8. No trading, unless it is to evolve one of the four Pokemon that evolve in this manner.
9. The challenge is over once you beat the Elite Four.
10. You may use Emulators if you don't have or want to play it on the actual game. You may use the Speed Button to zip through the game, just don't use cheats.
11. You can't use Dragon, Ice, or Ghost as your type, because there is no Pokemon that you can get before Lt. Surge.
12. You may use a type even if someone else has already signed up for it.
13. Please update your progress once every couple of "bosses" (Gym Leaders, Giovanni, Rival)
14. Take your time. This is not a race.
15. Most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!

LukerØath April 28th, 2010 11:40 AM

I'll stick to just flying for now and decide on which Type I would like to go on after I'm done. I'll have a new update later today!(:

myrrhman April 28th, 2010 11:56 AM

Ok, I'll be the first to post progress on the new thread. So I started up Blue, saw that I already had a flying team (I have no recollection of doing it with flying) and that I was halfway through the game. For some reason I didn't want to start half way through, so I started red instead and started from the beginning. Nobody's doing Psychic, I'll do that one. I'll update by city/route

[SPOILER]Start time: 2:19 PM
Named myself A, and Rival Red
Got Potion, Got Charmander (Tank)
Got Potion
Delivered Parcel, Got Pokedex
Got Potion
Grinded Tank til he learned Ember
Beat everyone in Viridian Forest, then turned around and fought Red
Beat Red
Grinded Charmander until he evolved.
Beat Brock only taking 9 Damage (time 2:29 PM)
Sprinted through Mt. Moon
Beat Rival (Charmeleon Evolved again)
Finally caught an Abra (Yin) at 2:41
Grinded said Abra, and evolved at 2:50
Beat Misty (2:58)
Caught Staryu (Yang) at 3:39 (by the way, at this point, Kadabra is level 44, I just skipped all the gyms til I got a Starmie)
Evolved Staryu, taught it Ice Beam and Psychic.
Went on to beat Lt. Surge, Erika, and Koga (3:49) Taught Starmie Thunderbolt.
Did Safari Zone. Taught Charizard Strength and Starmie Surf (3:54)
that will be enough for now.

LukerØath April 28th, 2010 12:27 PM

I don't get why you're still using Charizard. I know that Starmie is part Psychic but you aren't allowed to use Charizard now that you have your psychic types, are you?

UPDATE TIME!!! YAY!!!

Well I didn't stop after any landmark so, this update has a bit of an abrupt ending, but I'll probably beat Lt. Surge tonight, so expect an update either late tonight or tomorrow.

Well, I defeated Brock and Misty, Dropped of Spearow, cause I decided I didn't need him. Owned my rival and did some level grinding on my Pidgeotto. I saved right before I was going to start level griding my charmeleon and butterfree. ALSO, I accidently replaced Ember with Dig, so no fire moves for Charmeleon!!! :(((

myrrhman April 28th, 2010 4:15 PM

I have Charizard just because I need someone for Strength. He is an HM slave now. I haven't used him since I caught Abra and it learned an offensive move.

i stoped playing after crystal April 28th, 2010 4:36 PM

ahhhhh, its good to get some recognition, thanks man.
um...ill do rock when ever i have some free time on my hands...so noone else do it. lol im kidding you can still do rock ( but if you do i will kill you)
peace

myrrhman April 29th, 2010 10:08 AM

welp, I'm done with the Psychic one.

From Fuschia, I headed back to Saffron to take down Giovanni. Twas easy when most of the trainers use Poison Types. Giovanni was also easy for my two overleveled killing machines.
At this point, I am almost exclusively using Starmie, and soon it passes Kadabra in levels. So I beat Sabrina to celebrate. That Psychic training noob.
Realized I didn't have a flier, so I took Diglett's cave to viridian, and then went down to Pallet.
Surfed and killed stuff with more thunderbolt.
Beat Pokemon Mansion with some Surf. Got secret key and continued surfing at blaine.
Went back to Pallet, then to Viridian, and with Surf/Ice Beam/Psychic I took down Giovani's Gym.
Victory road was just more experience for starmie.
Loreli went down quite easily with 4 thunderbolts and 2 surfs (both for Jynx, who I didn't OHKO somehow).
Bruno went down with Surf, Psy, Psy, Surf, Psy
Agatha went down in 5 Psychics
Lance went down in a Thunderbolt and 4 Ice Beams
Rival had both Alakazam and Blastoise survive Starmie's initial attack. Pidgeot, Rhydon, Arcanine, and Exeggutor were not so lucky.
Became Champion with almost no damage dealt to Starmie.

LukerØath April 29th, 2010 10:28 AM

lol. Might as well have been a Starmie solo run. Haha!
I'm about to play a bit on my monotype challenge. I'll update later today!(:

Well I didn't end up playing too much, though I did beat Lt. Surge which required only the use of my Charmeleon. Then I defeated Erica which only required the use of my Pigeot. Currently, I'm off to fight some Team Rocket folks so, I can get that thingy to use in Lavender town. All My Pokemon are at level 42. And my party looks like this.

Charizard: Level 42- Mega Punch, Body Slam, Seismic Toss, Dig
Butterfree: Leve 42- Psybeam, Confusion, Sleep Powder, Poison Powder
Pigeot: Level 42- Gust, Wing Attack, Quick Attack, Sand Attack

(Yes I know my moves are ALL Sweeper based. I plan on Pigeot being just an uber flying type. Charizard being Fire, Fighting, and Ground. Butterfree is obvious. Later Gyarados as Water and Dragon. And Also, Aerodactyle as Rock and Flying. I don't know if I even want a sixth member to my part. Any suggestions for a sixth member??

i stoped playing after crystal April 30th, 2010 10:02 AM

incase your wondering ill have some freetime 3 days past never...

When I did (most of) my flying run, I didn't bother with a fifth or a sixth member. The damaging moves of my team were:

Charizard: Earthquake, Flamethrower, Rock Slide, Slash
Gyarados: Surf, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt
Pidgeot: Fly
Butterfree: Psychic

I didn't bother learning Grass, Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ghost, or Poison moves because my team didn't need them. I could still one hit like everything in the elite four.

LukerØath April 30th, 2010 11:30 AM

Yeah, the only reason I'm adding Aerodactyle is because I really like him. lol. There's really no point in me having him, other than him being really cool. Also, he's really underrated as a sweeper. And I'm going for a full on sweeping team.

DarkZelda April 30th, 2010 7:31 PM

(Copy from other thread, sorry!!)
I've never done this before, but it sounds fun!
I'll go grass for this first time!
Doing it in Red. I'll update a bit later!

EDIT: First Update. <3
Started: 12:05 on April 29th.
-Picked Bulbasaur
-Rival Battle #1; Beat Rival
-Went to Viridian, Got Package back to Oak, Pokedex
-Back in Viridian headed to Route 2
Time: 0:13. Pokemon: 1
-Bulbasaur: Tackle, Growl, and Leech Seed. LVL 8.

Will do more tomorrow. :)

Undr May 1st, 2010 3:00 AM

EDIT: Yeah this post is kinda scattered, try to bare with it. =P

Joined this forum because this sounded fun. Doing Ground. I'll update with info when I get home, but here's the team I expect to have when I've completed my run.

(I know there's no genders in B/R but I like to believe. lol)
Marowak - Rex - M
Cubone - Wishy (short for Wishbone) - F
Sandslash - Tsume - F
Rhydon - Rye - M

Going for style rather then efficiency on this one. Thus explaining my Cubone and Rhydon not evolving. I may have to evolve my Rhydon for Surf though. Anyway, four Pokemon team, with one HM dork.

Current Team however...
Nidorino
Sandslash
Onix

Just flying through until I can start accumulating some of my final team pokemon. Just took out Surge. Going to grab a Diglette next.

EDIT: This was originally posted in the other thread because I'm a genius like that. As of right now though I've caught a Diglette and I'm contemplating keeping my Nido on my final team as my tank in place of the Rhydon.

Underoos May 1st, 2010 3:05 PM

Here's the progress I've made so far.

-Named my person Red
-Received Charmander from Professor Oak
-Kicked Green's butt X3
-Trained up Charmander a bit and then got Oak's Parcel
-Gave parcel to Oak and got Pokedex
-Got Town Map from Green's sister
-Trained Charmander, bought Pokeballs, and then captured a Pidgey
-Trained some more, and battled Green again...and beat him =D
-Went into Viridian Forest
-Charmander evolved into Charmeleon!
-Went through the forest and then got to Pewter City
-Battled Brock and somehow won on first try =D
-Went through the trainers to entrance of Mt. Moon and then...
-Wasted my money on a Magikarp for Gyarados purposes XD

Dang, nice team. Love the Magikarp sweeper. =P

Anyway, update!

My team is overpowered now. I didn't realize how much I'd advanced my team just to defeat Misty. With only a few pokemon caught by me it was actually very difficult for me to capture my two Cubones. I kept OHKOing them, each time killing a piece of my Cubone-loving heart. :< But I digress, I captured two Cubones. Rex, and then Wishy. Right now I'm chilling around Lavender, leveling up my two Cubone-bone-bones.

Underoos May 2nd, 2010 5:06 AM

I played quite a bit yesterday. Now I suppose it's time for an update =3 Ok, this is super long but oh well. Hope it's a bit entertaining.

-Went through Mt. Moon, battling like heck and swapping to get Magikarp up a few levels
-Pidgey evolved! WHOOT! XD
-Arrived in Cerulean and healed up, then went to battle my rival
-Kicked Green's butt again =D
-Healed and then went to the Nugget Bridge
-Beat them and then went onto Bill
-Beat more trainers and then died >> Whoooops
-Got my revenge and then helped out poor PokeBill
-Got the SS Anne Ticket...thing...
-Went on and healed, then went to Cerulean gym
-Lost about 3 times, and then finally beat Misty! =3
-Went and kicked Team Rocket butt and got dig, taught it to Charmeleon
-Went to that one route before Vermillion City
-Magikarp evolved into Gyarados!
-Healed in Vermillion and then went onto the ship
-Battled and conquered my rival again
-Helped out that seasick captain (what kind of captain gets seasick? Or was it really seasickness? I can't remember, but whatever)
-Got HM Cut and then left
-Healed and then went and captured an Oddish for cutting purposes
-Got to the gym finally, and went in there to kick some butt
-Beat Surge because of Charmeleon knowing dig =D
-Went back up to the Rock Tunnel with dread (I always die in that danged tunnel)
-Actually (barely) made it through the tunnel in one go! WHOOT!
-Healed up and then went from Lavender Town to...Celadon City
-Went to attempt to buy a Dratini for Dragonite purposes, but came up short D=
-Battled Erika and kicked her butt with my fire type
-STILL came up short on my Dratini funds D=

Well, this is my final update, and since I haven't updated in a few days and basically beat the whole game since I did my last update, it's just going to be a very Un-detailed summary. And no pictures because for some readon my VBA is being really gay (gay as in lame, not homosexual, I'm not a homophobic douche.)

Well I defeated all the gym leaders (Obviously.)
Didn't do too much with my party. Decided against raising Aerodactyl just because I'd rather spend my time playing Sapphire and my gold solo run.

Good roded up a Magikarp and evolved it into Gyarados. Got Spearow back out of my PC and raised it up just to have another uber flying beast to go with my Pigeot.

Defeat the E4 along with my rival.
Here is my final team.

Charizard - Level 72
Pigeot - Level 66
Fearow - Level 67
Butterfree - Level 62
Gyarados - Level 68

(If you need more details to give me a label as a champion, I will provide, but I feel this should be sufficient, no?? )
Also, how do I get the Little banner that says I completed the challenge??

No, that's plenty of info for me. If you have to cheat to win at Pokemon Blue Version, you should feel bad for yourself. So my policy is if you say you won, then that's good enough for me.

To get the banner, Right click the one you want and click "Copy Image Location" button. Then go to your signiture and look for the image icon (looks like a couple of mountains and a sun, right below the 'back' button. Paste the URL you will have into the box that appears and you're good to go.

Underoos May 5th, 2010 1:41 PM

Did a bit the other day, so I figured I'd just stuff it up here now =3 I forget a lot of the details, so here's the general gist of things XD

-Went through the Rocket hideout and almost got stuck because I forgot how the danged tiles worked XD
-Charmeleon evolved into Charizard!
-Beat Giovanni!
-Went and bought a Dratini for Dragonite purposes =3
-Went back to Lavender Town
-Beat rival Green
-Calmed that ghost Marowak thing
-Beat Team Rocket and saved the old man
-Got the PokeFlute
-Went to get a Snorlax just because I like Snorlax XD
-Killed the first one because I forgot to buy Pokeballs >>;
-Went on through to Fuscia City with intent to go to Safari Zone and capture a Scyther
-Spent a LOT of money...and Scyther still escapes me -_-;;;
-WHOOT! Finally caught a Scyther XD

- I'll play some more tomorrow, just wanted to get started.

using Fighting Type

myrrhman May 21st, 2010 12:05 PM

You are in the challenge!

Michfan May 22nd, 2010 10:13 AM

Since nobody but myrrhman has done this type, I will accept the Grass type (I already listed myself as a Water and Ice-type champ from my Lapras from Suicune's challenge, but it's not official on your thread since it's "hacked", though I made it start at level 5). I'll be playing Poke Blue, btw.

All right, I'm not going to do twelve updates like I did in Suicune's thread. I'm going to update after every other Gym Leader.

First update:

I chose Bulbasaur (duh), beat OSUfan (my rival)
Trained it like a beast on Route 22, ended up being an Ivysaur by the time I got to Brock
Learned that Flying type moves will be the death of me (level 14 Spearow made my level 19 Ivysaur deplete more than half its health with two Pecks)
Caught a Paras at Mt. Moon, but not going to use it due to it being too weak
Beat OSUfan, Pidgeotto and Charmander took forever to take down (due to Sand Attacks)
Caught a Bellsprout and "caught" a Mew (for HM purposes)
Leveled up Bellsprout to make it a Weepinbell
Defeated Misty after one Growth and two Vine Whips per Poke
I'm now in Vermilion City, where Flying and Bug types continue to annoy me

This is my team as of arriving at V City. I don't plan to evolve Weepinbell until it learns Razor Leaf (which will be at level 38), and I could care less about it learning Slam.

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/4374/weepinivy.jpg

Second update:

Challenge was much harder than I thought. Weepinbell keeps on fainting, lol
Found every trainer I could, evolved Ivysaur--Weepinbell is at level 31
Beat Lt. Surge, overused Sleep Powder and Growth to Vine Whip them to death
Taught TM08 (Body Slam) to Venusaur
Went through Rock Tunnel, blah blah blah...
Made it to Celadon, taught TM33 (Reflect) and Razor Leaf to Victrebel (evolved it at level 38)
Beat Erika by overusing Body Slam on Venusaur

Underoos May 31st, 2010 9:12 AM

It's been a while, and I blame school XD I should be studying for finals, but...I had this nagging urge to play Pokemon >> Anyway, here's a short little update.

-Battled all the trainers I could find, and I probably had to go to the Pokemon Center 20 times -_-;;
-Officially began to hate poison types with their freaking poisoning abilities -_-
-Headed over to Koga's gym, had to heal like three times before I got to him
-Beat Koga with Dratini, who managed to learn slam XD
-Dratini evolved into Dragonair! WHOO!
-Headed back up (or tried to, had to go back to Fuscia City and heal about five times) to Lavender Town
-Somewhere in my travels to Lavender, Pidgeotto evolved!
-Went on over to Saffron, and then to Celadon to go kill that Snorlax
-Successfully did so, and then went to Saffron

Game: Pokemon Red

You're in. wordwordwordword

AnjinMiura_PL June 1st, 2010 6:46 AM

I started the game just after my post. So, 1st update is here ;)

Spoiler:

I would really like monotype challenges. I wasn't decided - poison or bug? Both are my favourite types. Poison maybe will be next, now - bug time :D

I started as Ober (as always), and my rival is Roman. Welcome in Bug Armageddon Story ;DD

My starter was Bulbasaur - I used him for beat Roman once, and as cover at first training. My first bug Pokemon was Weedle (Harry). I trained him in a route in the south of Virdian City to 10th level. When Harry evolved into Beedrill, I went to Forest for 2nd buddy. Caterpie of course. I named him Fairy (xD), and started hard training, which is usual. I was confused a little, 'cause Buttefree learned Confusion at 12, not 10 level. I guess I didn't play Red for ages ;)

First battle with Roman near Pokemon League was smooth, with Harry & Fairy at 10 lvl. Throught the Virdian Forest I battled Bug Catcher (poor noobz, only Ober can has strong Bugs in this game :D!) and grinded mah team a little. H&F had 15th Lvl, when I said to Brock: "Man, I wanna kick your rocky gray butt!". I kicked it, so Boulderbadge was mine.

Route 4 trainers fold to Bug Power as well, and I entered Mt.Moon. Paras. Most peoples says, that he is weak - not diz time. Bug Pokemon = mine Pokemon. I've looked for some strange name, I thought "Hmm, Angus is so strange as well". That, how Paras was named. But he had 8th level, when rest of team 17th! "What tha hell, I must train it again..." Yeah, I trained, my team was 20th levels, when I entered to Mt.Moon again.

I won, no doubt, Rockets are fools, I was near the Cerulean. First person in Cerulean who sight us was Roman - defeated as well. Nugget acquired, trainers lost their faces, time to visit Bill. He gave me ticket to SS-Anne with words "Have fun mah friend ^.^".
I didn't expected that Bill is agent of german intelligence, working in Kanto. Why do Germans wanna enter to Vermillion City? What tha hell? Or it was S.S.Anne...nevermind.

Time to visit Misty. Harry was the man of the match, by beating all water Pokemons in the hall, and grabs Bubblebeam TM from Misty's pocket. Ober ran away as fast, as he could, he entered some house, ran throught it, and met...Rocket. He didn't want to let Ober go, so Fairy make some funky confusions. After that policeman said, that "you are hero, blablabla...", and we have 2 TMs for nothing ;) Angus learned Dig - it will be useful against Lt.Surge.

In the last battle before enter to Vermillion, Angus evolved into Parasect. Now you'll see, trainers in SS-Anne! Or S.S.Anne...geez.

I'm so far now, so maybe it will be 2nd update today too ;)
Ober

(And it's Pkmn Red, just coloured or sth. I like it much more than black&white ;))

peopleperson June 1st, 2010 8:33 PM

I think I'll take this challenge. I'll be using the ground type(:D) on Pokemon Blue and updating shortly.
edit: updates below

Spoiler:

http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/8828/51255223.png

-caught my future Nidoking and Nidoqueen :)

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7206/77464672.png

-defeated Brock; was a close match, a critical tackle from onix(level 14) KOd nidoran male(level 10), luckily that didn't happen to nidoran female(level 11)

-just caught a geodude(level 10) in mt. moon!

http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/8610/20599302.png

- just beat misty. it was a LOT easier with nidorino than a premature nidoking for obvious reasons. i think ill hold off on evolution until horn drill, so i can TM teach it to nidoqueen. it'll also help with erica. here are my pokemon right now.

AnjinMiura_PL June 2nd, 2010 4:26 AM

2nd update comes here ;)

Spoiler:

Yeah. My superb bug team entered the S.S.Anne. There were no nazis or rockets, so ship was safe. Some people on the ship wanted to fight - more Exp for me, good. I defeated Roman, helped to the Cut Master...what else can I say...S.S.Anne clear, route in the east of city too. Vermillion Gym was strucked by Angus with Dig. It helped him to gain 30th lvl as well. And now it's time for place, which we everybody love - Rock Tunnel.

And really now, what else to say? I defeated Roman, blacked out Rockets from Game Corner, bought Take Down (Harry) and Razor Wind (Fairy). After that, i've sneaked through da Cycle Road to catch Venonat (26 lvl, Nightmare). He hasn't had Confusion...woot. I learn him Psychic (maybe it was waste, but nvm). Grinding time in Ghost Tower, I grinded Nightmare (Venomoth, yeah, Psybeam, yeah) and Fairy to 38 lvl. Angus and Harry had 35, but Celadon Gym was their too. It helped them 2 gain 37 lvls.

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/3766/gymz.png

My last bug Pokemon will be Scyther, if I ever find them. I also want Mew to be my multislave, so I must catch some flyin' Pkmn for an action (no one can learn Fly in my team). That is the plan, yeah.

http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/9161/teamlc.png

3rd update after first step at Cinnabar Island.

Ramsie June 3rd, 2010 10:40 AM

I'll do the Poison type on Blue, please.

AnjinMiura_PL June 3rd, 2010 12:26 PM

Okay, third!

Spoiler:

Time beetwen battle with Erika and first steps in Cinnabar was full of pwning. I made Mew my HM slave, as Mew is good for this work. Mew holds Strength, Surf, Fly and Flash ;) Most important slave ever I see.

As always, Ober trained his team and added fifth member - new member means more training, sir. I catched Scyther[23] in Safari Zone. Yeah, bug pokemon without bug attacks...sounds cool. But we gonna try it. I cleared two roads to Fuchsia, route from Fuchsia to Seaform, then from Pallet to Cinnabar, and from Cinnabar to Fuchsia. Clearing Silph from Rockets was also very helpful. Anyway, levels in my team are still low, and I see that I must launch my small sweet training place in Ghost Tower, before I'll pay a visit to a Victory Road.

http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/1130/timbug.png

My team indeed.
Next update...hm. I'll see. Before E4 I think ;)

TehYoshiNinja June 4th, 2010 2:44 AM

Okay, so I'm starting again, due to having a) picked Bug last time, and b) having not been on in about a decade, the time during which the previous thread died. So, ONWARD!

Username: TehYoshiNinja
Type: Flying
Game: Red

TehYoshiNinja June 5th, 2010 1:40 AM

Aha! I didn't post because I didn't see I'd been added... so here we are!

My Sucky Progress So Far:

Okay, here we go... Flying Monotype. These updates are going to be pretty long as updates go, I think. I'm doing them once every Gym.
Started up Red, named myself SPLASH for lulz. Rival is TOAST for more lulz.
Collected my Potion, blablah...
Chose Charmander for obvious reasons. Named him ANIJATOR as a retarded in-joke.
Wiped the floor with TOAST's Squirtle, then headed up to Viridian.
http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_02.png
I changed the colour scheme to pink-and-red after this to avoid boredom.

Grind, grind, grind. While grinding, I catch a Pidgey (DONTMADDER = Another stupid in-joke) and a Caterpie->Butterfree (MOTHRA).

Training MOTHRA is a real pain, mainly due to its utter failure of defense. And attack.
Eventually though, they're all at level 13. Beat TOAST in about two seconds, and... Viridian Forest. Pathetic. Everyone's at Lv.15 or higher. Charmander's evolved.
Straight to the Gym. Trainer and Brock both owned immediately.
http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_04.pnghttp://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_06.png

Right, that's update #1 done.
POKEYMEN SO FAR::

MOAR UPDATES SOON!!

Okay, so I got bored. Did Misty.

MY SUCKY PROGRESS:

Well, after the mediocrity of Brock, I was expecting Mt Moon to be a cakewalk with my stupidly-named Pokeymen. Well, it was. For the most part. Except for one thing:

http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_01.png

Yeah, that. Eventually, out of sheer frustration, I caught one of the damn things. Named him OMNOMNOM.

DONTMADDER also evolved.
http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_08.png

The rest of Mt Moon was uneventful. Took the HELIX FOSSIL because it was the closest.

http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_03.png
Picked up mah Great Ball, and I headed up to Bill's. TOAST was a cakewalk. Plowed through him with Confusion.

After all those damn trainers and that freaking kid with the Slowpoke, I was left with this dungheap of a team:
http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_04-1.png

Got my S.S. ANNE TICKET from Bill, then sped back to PokeCentre. Then, THE GRINDING BEGAN.

At first, it was going slow. Reeeeal slow. By the fact that OMNOMNOM was about as bad as Caterpie.
After about half an hour (spacebar turbo included), I'd finally gotten OMNOMNOM to the freaky RB Golbat sprite.

And, into Misty's!

Swimmer and Picknicker were pathetic, as was Staryu. Starmie, however....

http://i753.photobucket.com/albums/xx174/TehYoshiNinja/Pokemon%20Red%20Monotype%20Challenge/PokemonRedUS_12.png

BUBBLEBEAM! BUBBLEBEAM! WATER GUN! BUBBLEBEAM! SUPER POTION! X DEFEND! BUBBLEBEAM AAAASDFASDFASDFAFGSDJFASK

Finally, though, I beat the damn star with Seismic Toss. And got mah Cascadebadge.

MOAR UPDATES SOON!!

(Oh, and sorry about the overload of images.)

myrrhman June 5th, 2010 8:19 AM

oh don't worry about images. Some people prefer to not type anything in and only post images, its really just whatever floats your boat. welcome to the challenge!

Emlam June 5th, 2010 9:26 AM

As someone not currently participating in this challenge, let me just pop in and agree that without a proper Grass type (Oddish just barely counts) MISTY'S STARMIE IS THE WORST. Brock is easy enough with anything, Surge is a joke if you have a Ground type, but that freakin' Starmie always KO's my Pikachus. ><

.Kaiser June 5th, 2010 9:36 AM

Emlam, it's called grinding.
:D

Emlam June 5th, 2010 10:22 AM

Sure, but my point is you can beat the gyms directly before and after Misty with pretty weak Pokemon; Starmie seems disproportionately strong. :P

myrrhman June 5th, 2010 11:42 AM

It is, but that's because
a) Brock has no Rock type moves. And any intelligent player can get around Onix's Bide with growl or tail whip or something. This makes Pokemon like Butterfree usable (because if Onix knew Rock Throw it would be ridiculous).
b) as you said, Lt. Surge is a joke if you have a Ground type Pokemon. The most commonly used is either Geodude or Diglett. If you have a Geodude, only normal type attacks hit, and are not very effective. If you have a Diglett, you take more damage, but are faster. His signature move is Thunderbolt, which doesn't effect either of those Pokemon.
c) Once again on Lt. Surge, you are required to get the move Dig before you fight him. In Red/Blue, Dig is overpowered (100 Power, 100 Acc.). Many Pokemon can learn this move, including your starter unless you chose Bulbasaur (which you don't have because we're talking about how hard Misty is without a proper Grass type), so there is a good chance that at least one of your Pokemon can get near a OHKO on all of his Pokemon. But with Misty, there's just no way around her signiture attack, Bubblebeam, which has a base 97.5 base power (65 + STAB bonus). The only Pokemon that can resist this move that early in the game are Squirtle/Wartortle, Paras, or like Magikarp (which I doubt you will try to use unless you evolve it by then, which again, I doubt).

Edit: I changed the rule about no Ghost, Ice, or Dragons. Some of you guys (me included) are doing the Ultimate Monotype Challenge in various types, and I want the rules here to match the rules there. So, if you are using one of those types, hack it in at the beginning. Otherwise, no hacking. And with that, I am starting my Ghost Challenge!

TehYoshiNinja June 5th, 2010 1:27 PM

Ah, sweet. However... due to my tendency to forget to save, and the suckiness of my laptop...

Riiiight as I finished up in the SS Anne, I kinda got a Blue Screen of Death -.-

Typing this on my friend's computer. Until it gets fixed, there'll be no updates, unless I start yet ANOTHER Monotype.

myrrhman June 5th, 2010 4:40 PM

well, i have a bit of time to play before dinner.

Part 1: The spooky beginning

Today was a big day. I turned 10 and got my first Pokemon. Professor Oak had three choices for me and his grandson, Spam. I got to choose between a Bulbasaur, a Charmander, and a Squirtle. I picked Bulbasaur, because I liked the vines that it could use. Stupid Spam chose the Charmander, I think just because it was strong against me. We battled afterwards, and I won. I went to the nearby city to buy some Pokeballs so I could start my adventure. But, the store clerk made me go take Oak a Package. When I got back, I got a Pokedex in exchange. Then, I made it to the city a second time. I bought a couple of Pokeballs and went to the nearby route, to catch some Pokemon. All of a sudden it got all cold. I could see a ghost up ahead, and it was looking at me. I sent out Bulbasaur for protection. Bulbasaur spit seeds at the ghost from on its back, and somehow they hit the ghost. It gave Bulbasaur a big lick on the face. How weird. Then, I could see the seeds sprouting all over the Ghost's body. Life force seemed to suck itself out of the ghost and into bulbasaur, which made it feel better. Bulbasaur couldn't hit it with tackle, so he had to just growl at it. Eventually, when enough life force had drained from it, I decided to throw a Pokeball. One wiggle. Two wiggles. Three wiggles. The ghost was mine. I decided to name it Reaper. Reaper and I started training. I realized he could lick opponents, confuse them, and use some weird attack that turned the air dark and hurt them. I decided to name the attack Night Shade.

Reaper and I trained and trained, all over the place. We beat Spam again and I realized how good Reaper was. Pretty soon after that, I found myself fighting a Gym Leader, Brock. But if this battle proved to be like any of the others, Reaper would once again be untouchable. He was. I went into a cave after battling a few trainers.
Gave up on writing a story.
Beat Spam, and realized that Ghost doesn't effect Psychic in this generation. WTF?
Evolved Reaper on the slowpoke trainer.
Got to Bill and got the ticket.
Beat Spam.
Got Cut and got the Bike Vocher.
Went to fight Lt. Surge to try and get another move.
Opened the doors on my first attempt (although the first switch was in the last can that I checked). This is a first.
Got out of the Rock Tunnel paralyzed with 4 HP left. Phew.
Beat Erika after getting psychic and one hitting the entire fighting dojo without healing. This completed my moveset of Psychic, Mega Drain, Thunderbolt, and Hypnosis.
Beat Koga and Blaine easily.
Sabrina gave me problems, but I beat her.
Giovanni was easy, as was Spam.
Got through Victory Road.
Loreli was easy. Thunderbolt didn't kill dewgong, so while it rested i used mega drain and then another thunderbolt. Cloyster and slowbro fell to one thunderbolt each. Jynx and lapras took two each.
Bruno took 5 hits. 3 were psychic and 2 were mega drain.
Agatha was the toughest, and all of her ghosts took multiple hits. The other two did not.
Lance couldn't touch me (I think, the battle went by so quickly)
Had to use an elixer.
Rival lost to thunderbolt, hypnosis thunderbolt thunderbolt, mega drain, hypnosis and a few psychics, thunderbolt, thunderbolt thunderbolt.

And I won! 4/15 done.

TehYoshiNinja June 5th, 2010 11:27 PM

Well... that was quick XD

Nice run. What level was Reaper by the end? Must have been pretty high.

moon June 6th, 2010 1:34 AM

Argh, I'll try this again.

I'll use pokémon Blue and go with Psychic type. To feel like a superhero, blasting everything away with Kadabra~

EDIT:

Kay update. I picked Bulbasaur, just to beat the first gyms quickly before I can get my hands on Abra and Drowzee. Though, I'll need to use Bulbasaur a bit more, since Abra doesn't learn any attacking move before evolving, right? :/ unless I'll get Drowzee before that... anywhoo.

Beat Rival, got pokédex, got through Viridian, beat Brock on first try.

Just checked. He was at level 63. So yeah, pretty high. I'm doing the ultimate monotype challenge in every type, so now i'm trying to determine if i want to do all the gen 1 games first, or do it by type.

Lol, I remember my psychic run. It was so easy. I thought I would be using Kadabra for most everything, but as soon as I beat Misty and the Pokemon Tower, I went all the way to Fuchsia and got a Starmie, then went back and completely destroyed everyone with it. But yeah, you can use your Bulbasaur to help train Abra, that's what I did.

Well, you can always teach it some stupid little TM like Mega Punch if you really want it to be able to attack. :P

It hasn't got that big ATK stat though, right? So it wouldn't be that great :p but yeah, I guess.

Emlam June 6th, 2010 11:36 AM

Oh no, its Attack is pathetic. :P I always taught it Mega Punch because it seemed slightly less useless that way, though. XD And that way if something big KOed my main attacker but had only a few HP left, I could at least use Abra's speed to swoop in and finish it for a big exp. bonus.
Not that that happens very often in practice unless you try to.

AnjinMiura_PL June 6th, 2010 11:48 AM

Okay, last update before E4 ;)

Spoiler:

I really enjoy my bug team, as bugs are my favourite Pokemons ;) But I know, that without good levels, I'll fail with Elite Four. I've had 8 Rare Candies - it was helpful, but later. First Fairy and Nightmare, as they've Psybeam&Solarbeam / Psybeam&Psychic. I've trained both in Victory Road to 60th levels. Sounds great ;) But there are still 3 Pokemons. They was raised in Pokemon Mansion, where Angus and Sabreman reached 58 lvls, Harry 57lvl. Two RC for Angus and Sabreman, three for Harry. Sounds great ;) Now, with all-60's I've good team for Elite Four, I believe. I'm still thinking about grinding for Fairy and Nightmare to 63-65 lvl, 'cause it's possible to do in Victory Road. But I would like to face Elite Mafia, soo...hmm. Hmmm...hmmm...

http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/6766/bugtim.png

See you in last update ;)

EDIT:

Okay, I started a epic battle with Elite Four ;) I tried to record it with GBA, but something went wrong and I've recorded only battle with Lorelei, in size 160x144 also :/ Anyway, if somebody wants I can upload it somewhere ;)

I didn't do any screens, because I thought that I'm still recording that. Damn :/ Only Hall Of Fame screenshots, to prove my victory ;) And short description also (WARNING: It's so long xD)

Spoiler:

Lorelei:
Oui, she was so tough. When Lapras fainted Fairy, and I've had only Harry and Nightmare, I was scared a little. But Harry managed to knock Lapras down, and I was still in the game. Also Lorelei was tough for me, because you know, she has Ice pokemons.

Bruno:
Nightmare was a real nightmare for Bruno ;) Psychics, Psychics, Psychics, at least Machamp was down after Fairy Psybeams ;) Bruno just had bad luck, 'cause I had Fairy and Nightmare, not he :D

Agatha:
Old Dark Lady wanted to stop me...not this time. Yeah, with problems, but at last, Gengar vs Nightmare and uberpowerfull Psychics = Agatha drowned. Harry was fainted, but he knocked out first Gengar and seriously damaged Golbat. Now to Lance

Lance:
Lance was strong, but not as hard as Lorelei for me. Sabreman defeated Gyarados and one Dragonair, second Dragonair was punched by Angus, Aerodactyl was tough, but Fairy's Psybeams took him down, and last battle Dragonite vs. Nightmare - Sleep Powder, Psychics, I wo...Hyper Potion. >.< But Dragonite wasn't wake up, and lost some Special during attacks too - last was Psybeam and it made my way to Roman ;)

Roman:
Tough, si. Maybe a little harder than Lance. Pidgeot blacked out by 2 Sabreman critical Slashes (he always have criticals, Slash FTW ;D). Alakazam was harshly damaged by Harry. Harry was defeated with Psybeams, but Sabreman managed to defeat Master Of Spoons. Next Rhydon - and Solarbeam KOd Rhydon here. But against Gyarados it wasn't so good. Anyway, Fairy used Sleep Powder, then Solarbeams, Solarbeams, and only Charizard in the Roman's party. As always, I used Nightmare. As always, Nightmare destroyed his rival and made me Pokemon League Champion, and helped me to finish the challenge ;)

http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/3713/finalzq.png

Sth about my team now (Really big update) :D. I love my team ;)

Sabreman[Scyther] - a lot of criticals with Slash attacks - and I really like his "critical" style ;) I'm really happy 2 have Sabreman in team, but if he could have one cool bug attack - I would be even more happier than now. Much more happier, because he will be ultimate killer ;DD

Angus[Parasect] - He's really big and scary ;D I like his Spore'n'Slash style, it's kinda other than Scyther. If you can't avoid massive Spore attack - you will die soon man ;) I feel a lot of defensiveness here, but it's important for team too ;)

Harry[Beedrill] - Harry's offensive contains two phases. First phase is focusing of energy. Then, unleash it with Twineedle! That's how Harry does. He was fainted at League Battles twice, but...it isn't change nothin'. Still H.A.R.R.Y, if you know what I mean ;) I really like his long HP bar ;D If Harry survive something, rival won't :D

Fairy[Butterfree] - from the beginning, Fairy was opposite to Nightmare (as we see, Fairytale =/ Nightmare). I guess that I've should name him Fairytale ;) It would sounds even greater :D Confusion from 12th level is really cool, we know, but only Solarbeam&Psybeam made me Champion ;) Pokemon based on beams, that's what I want :D I always imagine Butterfree as "Master Of Fairness", you know what I mean. And it's complete opposite to my last Pokemon, my hero, my favourite Pokemon all-time, and that is...

Nightmare[Venomoth] - Nightmare, of course. He is "Master Of Darkness" for me. You will die soon, if you meet Nightmare somewhere. I love everything in Venomoth, except...sprite in 1st generation ;( In next gens it's a lot of better with this :D I guess Venomoth is my favourite Pokemon, I've him in almost every teams, and that's also why I decided to pick bug Pokemons. Venomoth is just the best, and you must agree with it. Psybeam&Psychic = ...eee...equals nothing, because there will be nothing left from you ;)

And now I can tell that my bug challenge is over! :D But I would really like to do this in other generations too. With the same Pokemons? Why not, I love my Bugs ^^'

Yeah, I can say that's the end ;D Save will be hidden somewhere, maybe I'll play sometimes. Now, I must complete another challenges ;)

See you around ;)
Ober

Found an Abra north of Cerulean! Kept using Ivysaur to train it though.
Beat the gym and Misty, leveling up Abra a bit.
Went to Vermilion and caught Drowzee!

Drowzee is low level and Abra can't fight... am I allowed to use Ivysaur to level them up at least against wild pokémon? I'd figure not, since it wouldn't really be in the spirit of the challenge... :p

Emlam June 7th, 2010 3:53 PM

Snorlax is a slow grower, but it's tough ... and you can teach it Surf if you want. :P

I've always preferred Tauros because slow Pokemon bug me, but Snorlax is easier to catch without cheating.

pleryt16 June 7th, 2010 4:05 PM

Where do you catch Tauros?

Emlam June 7th, 2010 4:18 PM

Area 3 of the Safari Zone (or any right-side shoreline after visiting it) in Red/Blue, Area 1 of the Safari Zone in Yellow.

Alright, here we go. I decided it would be quicker and easier to do it just by images, with occasional comments by the side.

So, due to the BSoD, I'll just speed through everything to get to where I was. And then... IT CONTINUES.

Below is a youtube videoclip of the epic battle between me and Blu which I lost because his gyarados hit me with hydropump through six stacks of evasion!!!!! it worked on lance's gyarados, not his though :\. I started the elite four with nidoking and nidoqueen my only two level 42's, and everyone else 41 or under. I think I'll easily have this if I can find out a way to defeat gyarados a easier way. also dewgong, jynx, and basically everyone from Lorei was incredibly tough

!CHALLANGE DONE!
...............GROUND..............

the only way i was going to beat the elite four was if i leveled up my nidoking and nidoqueen enough so that they could use thunder/thunderbolt faster than lance's and my rival's gyarydos' hydro pump. that was really the only major problem i had(other than lorei's jynx, which i ended up having to get 6 stacks of evasion on my marowak for when jynx was up) and the rest was fairly easy. i went into the battles with 1 max potion, 5 revives. i ended up using the potion on hitmonlee(my nidoqueen's earthquake didnt KO) as well as one revive(dragonair killed my marowak with a nasty slam) but used a few more verus my rival since victory was imminent with a nice explosive way to end it all.

I'm going to try this. I'll use red version and use poison types.

myrrhman July 4th, 2010 11:46 AM

You know what? A lot of People are using Poison Type Pokemon. I'm going to do that, because Poison is usually my least favorite type, and see what Poison is all about!

Start time: 2:19
Named myself A and Rival LOZER (mwahahaha)
Got Bulbasaur named ARSENIC, and beat LOZER
Delivered Parcel at 2:21
Caught Lv. 4 Nidoran (COMET) at 2:23
Stopped to think about who I was going to have on my team, realized that I hate all Poison type Pokemon but Nidoking. Also grinded til I got Vine Whip and Horn Attack
Beat Brock
Evolved both Pokemon before Mt. Moon.
Beat LOZER above Cerulean at 2:46
Saved Bill at 2:49
Beat the Rocket Grunt and Misty at 2:50 (taught Nidorino Bubblebeam)
Beat LOZER on the S.S. Anne at 2:54
Beat Lt. Surge at 2:56 (taught Nidorino Thunderbolt)
Beat LOZER in the Lavendar Tower at 3:03
Beat LOZER in Silph Co (Taught Nidoking Earthquake) at 3:16 and got Lapras
Caught a Pidgey at 3:18 and taught it Fly
Beat Erika at 3:19
Beat Koga at 3:22
Got Surf and Strength at 3:24 (Surf to Nidoking, Strength to Lapras)
Beat Sabrina at 3:29
Beat Giovanni at 3:32
Beat LOZER at 3:33
Beat Loreli at 3:37
Beat Bruno at 3:38
Beat Agatha at 3:38
Beat Lance at 3:39
Beat LOZER at 3:41

Winner.

Final Team
COMET the level 62 Nidoking
Earthquake, Surf, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam
MVP lol

ARSENIC the level 17 Ivysaur
Tackle, Cut, Leech Seed, Vine Whip
Ended up being Cut Slave

WINDEX the level 13 Zubat
Leech Life
I tried training it for like four levels, but I don't see this ever being worth it.

And the HM Slaves Pidgey and Lapras (Fly and Strength)

Shake July 4th, 2010 5:56 PM

Update #1
Named myself Shake.
Got Bulbasaur and named him Ivy.

~That's it so far.

myrrhman July 6th, 2010 11:01 AM

Bored in class, going to do another type... Rock should be hard (get it?)

Started, me A, rival LOZER, Bulbasaur, etc. Same stuff as usual happens til after Brock, so we'll start there.
After Brock, I went straight to Mt. Moon, avoiding all the trainers I could. I caught a Geodude (BOULDER) and went back to defeat them.
LOZER was easy with Rock Throw
Saved Bill and stuff
Got Dig for BOULDER, and also taught him Mega Punch.
Misty was really tough with the newly evolved BOULDER, but I got lucky when she used an X-Defend on Starmie instead of killing me, and I got a critical hit with Dig.
Sold everything I didn't need.
Beat LOZER on the S.S. Anne, also got Cut (which I taught to Ivysaur).
Beat Lt. Surge after about 10 minutes of searching for the damned locks.
Went through Rock Tunnel to Celadon, got Pokedoll, Rock Slide, Ice Beam, and extra Water. Taught Graveler Rock Slide.
Stupid game hax. Lost to LOZER in Lavendar Tower because his Lv. 22 Gyarados had Hydro Pump. The second time it was easy because Gyarados missed.
Got Pokeflute, went on to Silph Co.
Had the same problem that I had in the Tower. Took a bunch of tries. Got Lapras
Earthquake Earthquake Earthquake Earthquake goes Giovanni
Earthquake Earthquake Earthquake Earthquake goes Koga
Got Surf and Strength, taught both to Lapras
Went back to get Fly
Went back further to get Old Amber
Got to Cinibar, and got a Kabuto (BLITZ) with Ice Beam and Surf, and an Aerodactyl (METEOR) with Fly
Went back and defeated Erika with BOULDER's Earthquake (I love that its super effective on Grass/Poison Pokemon) and BLITZ's Ice Beam (Tangela didn't have anything super effective on it.
Got really lucky against Sabrina. Won with 5 Earthquakes (Mr. Mime took 2 because he used reflect) because Venomoth used Stun Spore instead of killing me, and Alakazam missed.
Pretty much gave up on training my new two Pokemon. I know I'm going to have to train at least BLITZ for the elite four.
Blaine was easy. Like before, EQx4
Giovanni was a little trickier, because Dugtrio used Dig. Aerodactyl had to take it out.
I got lucky and Gyarados missed its Hydro Pump on the first try.
Killed Moltres for some Exp.

Elite Four suicide training time!!!
Loreli: 20 tries, and still haven't put a dent in Cloyster.
My new strategy (other than suiciding with Graveler until he could one hit Loreli): Send in Kabuto. For some reason, Dewgong refuses to kill it, and spams rest. I can't kill it because I can't do much damage at all to it. So I hurt it, it falls asleep, I switch to Graveler, who explodes and Kabuto gets all the exp. Kabuto eventually evolves, but I realize that Kabutops can't learn Mega Drain. I don't know how i'm going to beat Loreli now. I guess I'm going to have to level up until I'm faster than her Cloyster.

Like the next level, Graveler was faster than Dewgong and Cloyster. It was then only a matter of getting Rock Slide to hit both times. Slowbro was easy and only used Withdraw, Jynx was taken down by Kabutops's Slash, and Lapras was almost one hit with Rock Slide, killed Boulder, and Kabutops killed it.

I saved, but didn't heal Boulder, thinking that I would easily lose to Bruno. I was wrong. Kabutops one hit both Onixes and Hitmonchan with Surf, 2 hit Hitmolee (Bruno used 2 X Defends on Hitmonlee) and 2 Hit Machamp (he used Leer on me or something.) Unscathed, I healed Boulder for Agatha. Gengar outsped me and used Night Shade, and I one hit it with Earthquake. Frozen Golbat got taken down by Ice Beam, and the other three got taken down by Earthquake, although they put a dent in Boulder's health.

Lance's Gyarados killed me.

I repeated mindlessly killing myself getting levels very slowly. I eventually started doing really good (Graveler outsped and one hit Dewgong, Cloyster, and Lapras, and Kabutops tanked Slowbro and Jynx with Slash).

I eventually got to Lance with a Fainted BOULDER and a Full Health BLITZ. Against Gyarados, Blitz slash 2HKO. Dragonairs got 2 Ice Beams each. But, on the second one I revived BOULDER. He OHKO Aerodactyl with Rock Slide, and BLITZ OHKO Dragonite with Ice Beam after a Barrier. I was on my rival. I didn't bother healing, because I figured I would lose, although I did Save.

Boulder vs. Pidgeot: Sky attack charge, Rock Slide miss, Sky attack unleashed (like 15 damage) Rock Slide OHKO.
Boulder vs. Alakazam: Psychic OHKO
Blitz vs. Alakazam: not sure what I did, I think I OHKO with Slash.
Blitz vs. Rhydon: Revived Boulder, Absorbed back to full health, killed it with Surf. It tried using a OHKO attack but it missed.
Blitz vs. Exeggutor: I Ice Beamed, he put me to sleep, did about half damage with stomp, and then I woke up and killed him.
Blitz vs. Gyarados: I used Slash, which brought him barely over half, he almost killed me with Hydro Pump, I slashed, he killed me.
Boulder vs. Gyarados: I revived Blitz and died to Hydro Pump.
Blitz vs. Gyarados: I killed him with Slash.
Blitz vs. Charizard: I revived Boulder, he fire spinned. when I was freed, he fire blasted and burned me, and then I almost killed him with surf. We both used Full Restores. Fire blast miss, surf, Fire Spin, continued, continued, Slash, Surf. I won.

Final Team:
Boulder, the level 69 Graveler

Rock Slide, Earthquake, Mega Punch, Explosion

Blitz, the level 62 Kabutops

Slash, Absorb, Surf, Ice Beam

Why is nobody else updating?

myrrhman July 21st, 2010 6:45 AM

I guess I'll do another one then. I'll take normal.

Same stuff as usual with squirtle.
Caught Spearow
Beat Brock
Caught Jigglypuff and Clefairy (LOON and FAIRY)
Began training the two.
Beat Misty with Clefable and Wigglytuff
Saved Bill, beat Rocket Grunt and got Dig
Traded Spearow for Farfetch'd
Beat Lt. Surge mainly with Wigglytuff's Mega Punch after getting cut.
Made it through Rock Tunnel.

Paused my Normal run for a Ground run, which I did in 1: 13 :15 (I think that's the time). I made a video, and I'll post it later today probably.

Hey me everyone!

This thread is being closed to test out a new way of doing things. There will be a new thread for it, however. Don't get discouraged from updating there, and don't think you have to start all over, I will literally just transfer your progress over to the new thread!
