Update:

Surf's up. Tank got Strength, we did a very speedy run-through of Seafoam; bike in, catch a Seel ("Hunley"), electrocute some water types with the Generator, push some rocks, fall down some holes, get my feet wet, bike out.
Surfed to Cinnabar, I'll save the swimmers for later.
Managed to sneak up to the 3rd floor of the Mansion before encountering a Pokemon - a lv. 34 Ponyta which I caught and named Molotov. Probably the only Fire type I'll get this game.
Another close call with Torpedo, this time against a different Ponyta. Defense is his lowest stat, and it's showing. A couple Stomps had us running for the Pokecenter and teaching Torpedo how to Surf as a matter of self-defense against all these pushy firebugs. Water Gun just don't cut it in the big leagues, and piddly-PP Hydro Pump is a long way off.
Makes more sense riding a Torpedo through the water than a Tank, anyhow.

He's showing his stuff against the Weezings in the basement now, leveling up rapidly when he can avoid Sludge (which is more damaging than you'd expect coming from a lv. 40 Weezing, not to mention the PSN risk) and Smokescreen.
Avoiding trainers for now, we'll take on Blaine and the Burglars when everyone's at 40 or better. Though with a Dig/Surf Blastoise and a backup Gyarados, I'd be disappointed if we couldn't make a clean sweep of it, minus the occasional Vulpix speeding in a 5-damage Quick Attack before it dies.

The Troops:
Torpedo, lv. 35
Nimitz, lv. 42
Generator, lv. 45
Tank, lv. 47
Warbird, lv. 47
Plague, lv. 48

Reserve:
Alpha
Bravo
Charlie
Delta
Echo
Blackhawk
Fallen
Torpedo
Spy
Hunley
Molotov

Casualties:

Gravediggr (Diglett)

Hey everyone. Real sorry about my absence here. Lots of stuff was going on in that crazy place called real life and some other forums I go to so I wasn't able to keep up with everything. Even more so, I didn't expect my little threads to grow this much! :o Because it's so incredibly difficult to keep up with so many threads and with the challenges all being in one area, I'm going to make a new thread that's for nuzlocking ANY pokemon game from any gen, rom hack, whatever. So hang on to your hats while I get THAT thread set up and I'll be changing some things with how to get on the list because it's so hard for me to find out who's doing what game as it it right now.

EDIT: Actually, I'll just PM a mod and ask them to merge all my threads and change the title.

redsaber5859 July 2nd, 2010 8:31 PM

I couldn't stand to see this thread die, so REVIVAL also update, I'm pretty sure my game got deleted from crystal lol and as for brown, I am not near my pc so can't play it for a while

subame July 3rd, 2010 12:36 PM

mondays suck July 25th, 2010 1:50 AM

Ok, so after 3 or 4 lost runs in a row, I need to get back to what I'm good at: the first and second generation games.

Red Version
Standard Rules
Set Mode

What can possibly go wrong?

Updates are in short form, like this:
Spoiler:

- chose Charmander (accidentally no nickname), beat Squirtle but needed the Potion
- didn't make it thhrough Route 1 without an encounter
- finished fetchquest
- met a Nidoran m west of Viridian and ... had no Pokeballs with me. Great.
- Caught a Weedle on Route 2 and again, didn't nickname it. I might as well do a no nicknames run now.
- Caught yet another Weedle in Viridian Forest. Grrreat. This one even took me 2 Pokeballs.
- Lost my first Weedle while grinding to a Rattata. This is like, the best start ever.
- Beat rival with lv. 12 Charmander and lv.8 Kakuna
- Beat Brock, but lost Kakuna at level 9 (my strategy of poisoning Onix did not work out at all, for some reason Poison Sting always missed and then Brock got a crit.)
- Charmander evolved after the battle
- Caught a Spearow
- killed a Zubat in Mt.Moon because I went in there to grind Spearow and forgot it's a new area.
- got the dome fossile
- got a crit against a Spearow on Route 4 (I let it growl my own Spearow's attack down before I used Peck, but...)

Ah well... Here they are, the heroes that made it to Cerulean:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-102.png?t=1280054037

Spoiler:

- Soloed Misty's gym trainers and Nugget Bridge with Spearow, now Fearow.
- First Pokemon on Route 24 (?): Kakuna. And it even took me 3 Pokeballs.
- First Pokemon on Route 25: Weedle. This game serioiusly is trolling me. I killed it.
- Finished the Dig sidequest. Team at this Point is Charmeleon lv. 21, Fearow Lv. 26, Kakuna lv.8.
- South of Cerulean: Pidgey. Dammit, I already have Fearow and could really have used an Oddish... Or at least a Mankey.
- Finally Oddish on the route south of Saffron. And it poisoned Pidgey. Luckily I still had the Antidote from Viridian Forest.
- Get Ekans and Diglett around Vermillion. And I have a full team, finally.
- Fearow learned Drill Peck. Know what time it is now? Misty Time!

Well, that was too easy. But, at least I didn't lose anything that way.

Team upon beating Misty:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a2-91.png?t=1280055386
That's what I call balanced training. Diglett is level 17 and still in the box, but not for long anymore.

Spoiler:

- Lost Oddish while grinding, for some reason Diglett's Dig was super-effective
- Did some massive grinding. How successful was I?
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-103.png?t=1280056425
...not very. Ok, I have no idea how I lost Beedrill (at level 15), it just suddenly was at 0 HP. As for Diglett, I was fighting a wild level 10 Rattata, and Diglett still had about 1/3 HP left and was about to finish Rattata next turn. Rattata used Quick Attack, and Diglett was dead. How can something be THAT FRAIL?
Anyways, SS.Anne time. Oh, and Charmeleon is going to learn Cut, no way around it =/
- Did Stuff

Team after Surge, who was a cakewalk:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a2-92.png?t=1280057159
And yes, that Arbok knows Dig.

Spoiler:

So, the routes between Cerulean and Rock Tunnel... On the first one, I found an Ekans which died because I underestimated Arbok'd Wrap's power. On the other route, I got a Voltorb. Hell yes, exactly what I wanted.
- Grinded Voltorb a bit and caught a Geodude in Rock Tunnel. Too bad the part of the game where Geodude is the most useful is already over.
- Beat Rival, also caught a Pidgey and an Oddish on the way to Celadon. So many new faces.

The team at this point. Note how things are balancing out again.
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-104.png?t=1280060564
Not sure if I'll use Oddish or wait for something else instead. I'm currenly not seeing any good use for it before the 8th badge. Also, I'll leave Eevee in the box as long as possible, since currenly I do both have a Fire and Electric Pokemon and am pretty much guaranteed to get a Water one later. But just in case someone dies, I'd rather have the right backup.

- Ok, so I did the Fighting gym before anything else. Fearow had some fun there and is now quite some levels ahead of the others again. Took Hitmonlee. And it's already level 30, nice.
- Also, I beat Erika. With (oh Surprise!) Fearow. Who is now at level 40. And I caught a Dodou that I'm not going to use soon. Why? Because Fearow.
- Beat Giovanni. Hitmonlee made short work of him.
- Pokemon Tower. And I get a Cubone. Dammit. Adding it to the team anyways because I never seem to use Pidgeotto.
Therefore:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a2-93.png?t=1280061776
I also need to use Charmeleon more.

Next: Team Rocket. Team Rocket everywhere. Yeah, I'm planning to do Silph as soon as possible. But first I'll clean Pokemon tower with Cubone.

Spoiler:

Finished Pokemon Tower. No major changes except that Cubone is now a Marowak.
- Lost Charmeleon to a Machoke in Silph. Critical something out of nowhere, Charmeleon had no chance.
- Got Eevee from the box and evolved it into Flareon. It did fine, until it died.
- Oh, and Hitmonlee also died because I accidentally left it out against something Psychic.
- At least my rival was easy, Electrode and Fearow made short work of him.
- Same for Giovanni, except that I used Marowak, not Electrode.

So, after Silph, I'm down to this and some underleveled derps on the box:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-105.png?t=1280067444
I blame the fact that Silph is longer than any humanly possible attention span.

Let's have a look at the map at this point:
Spoiler:

(yeah, that's not the RBY one, but it's Kanto and that's enough.)
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/map-7.jpg?t=1280068903
Oh wait, that Viridian Forest Weedle was actually a Kakuna when it died. Ah, whatever...

Not lloking as grim as it could. I get still get new Pokemon from quite some places: Some cities (Viridian, Cerulean, Vermillion, there are no Pokemon in Pewter), a few routes to the south (does the way from lavender to Fushia really consist of FOUR routes? I'll have to look that up on Bulbapedia...) and the whole water area, including the Power Plant. Well, I think I'll do some Oddish grinding, and then get Snorlax if possible (the Lavender one, since I already got Dodou from the route where the other one is) and have a full team again. I think this is still winnable, at least if I play a bit less sloppy from now on.

Spoiler:

-Went the cycling road way to Fuschia first. Caught a Dodou and killed a Raticate (I could have sworn it might take another Wrap....)
- Met a Nidorino and Safari Zone and ... ACTUALLY CAUGHT IT. That's a big step towards a dead koga. Also towards not very much used Marowak since Nidoking outclasses it in any way possible.
- And then Koga's Weezing uses Selfdestruct and kills Nidoking. Way to ruin my day and my Ice Beam TM and my EQ TM and my Moonstone and my bow and my axe. What a douche.
- Found a Venonat east of Fuschia, and this is awesome. Hopefully it will actually live...
- Turns out Leech Life is a really good move to have in this game. Almost everything is weak to Bug.
- Caught Snorlax
- Went the way from Pallet to Cinnabar. Caught a Pidgeotto and revived Kabuto.

Team and Map at this point:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-106.png?t=1280073156
More balanced than ever, except for Kabuto of course, who is going to catch up quickly if things work according to the plan.
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/map-8.jpg?t=1280073174
A bit less yellow space now... Note how I didn't catch anything on the two routes between Venomoth and Snorlax since you need Cut there to access the grass. And there isn't anything special there anyways.

Spoiler:

-Good thing I went for Kabuto instead of getting something from the Mansion, because the first thing I met in there was a Weezing. And what do Weezings like to do? Yeah, right. This one didn't though, luckily.
-
Spoiler:
So, the plan did work out, so I'm now enjoying the awesomeness that is Kabutops (with 100% crit Slash). Meanwhile, Blaine is dead. One to g-oh wait, I forgot Sabrina. Dammit.
...
Ok, here's the plan how to beat her:
Fearow only
No other moves than Drill Peck
Final Destination

But first, Dinner.

Spoiler:

- Ok, looks like I mixed things up, I thought Sabrina was level 50-ish, but she was just in the low 40s. Easy.
- Beat Giovanni and got one of the worst TMs in the game, so I basically got a worse Nugget
- Fought rival. And his overleveled (seriously, where does he get THAT MANY LEVELS?) Blastoise just killed Kabutops, who had before almost soloed him with Hydro Pump. Gary M. Oak onec again proves his status as a master traineroll.
- So I send out Electrode, and guess what happens? Right. T-Bolt fails to kill it and...
- Fearow finished Blastoise though.

Time to visit the Power Plant, I guess...
- Laziness done wrong: I went through Rock Tunnel just because I didn't want to look for the Cut HM on the PC.
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a1-107.png?t=1280092370
Don't mind me, just abusing the fact that I didn't speak a word of this in the rules.http://209.85.122.87/5908/85/0/e5011287//e5011287.png Also, Robot did it too so I don't see any problem.
Well, actually I just didn't want to get another Electrode, it wouldn't have been the same. Especially because of the lack of Thunderbolt. So, I decided to...
Also, fun fact: The only Repel I used wore off one the last step before the exit.

- And then I remembered all those trainers on the water routes. Could have made Gary much easier...
So I get a level 5 Tentacool on the Fuschia water route, which is GREAT.

Seafoam Islands. So I use a Repel to get down to the lowest level of the cave...
...and find a Horsea there. Dammit, I wanted a Seel, because my Ice user (Kabutops had Blizzard, which is actually not that bad in this generation) died. Hopefully I'll be able to fish a Shellder somewhere, or I'm screwed against Lance.
And no, I didn't go for Articuno, would have been too much work.

Super Rod time.
Cerulean City: Krabby. Meh.
Viridian City: Poliwag. If I wouldn't need an Ice user so badly, I would certainly use this.
Vermilion City: Shellder. YES! Took me 3 Great Balls to catch, but it will be worth it. Too bad it's level 15...

Time to grind, but first I'll shift my bag economy from normal mode into boss battle mode, which means Pokeflute+Hyper/Max Potions+Full Restores. Better now than not at all.

Spoiler:

Ok, so I grinded Shellder into the mid-40s. Then cleared those water routes with Zapdos. Then decided to go to Victory Road. And failed to catch anything on those rotues because I probably forgot to restock my Pokeballs. But, apart from that everything ran smoothly until now.
So I met Moltres. Want a detailled description of the battle? No? Well, here it is anyways: Arbok used Rock Slide.
And in the end, I actually made it through Victory Road without a casualty.

The glorious team that badly needs some grinding:
http://i887.photobucket.com/albums/ac79/mondayssukc/th_a2-94.png?t=1280092370

I think 55 should be enough.
Well, let's have a look:
Lorelei: Will probably be the hardest. Zapdos, Marowak (Fire Blast, not that it's going to help any, but why not, better than Growl...), Venomoth and Arbok all have super-effective moves, but no one has a real type advantage. I'm afraid I'm going to lose someone to Lapras.
Bruno: Fearow. Or wait, Venomoth will probably work even better.
Agatha: Arbok. Probably Marowak as well. When in doubt, Zapdos or Fearow might work too.
Lance: Cloyster. Arbok might work as well.
Gary: I have no idea. I might want to lead with Zapdos though since I'll probably be able to kill Ala with DP as well.

Bagel Ben July 29th, 2010 1:53 PM

(I rly hope this topic isn't too dead)
(Also, it'd be appreciated if I could be added to the first post)

Spoiler:
-Started a new game on Red
-Named myself RED and my Rival BLUE
-Picked Chamander and named him CHE
-Free potion tymz
-Bumped into pidgey on route 1 before I had any pokeballs, so I did a spot of training
-The old graphic/layouts of everywhere provide much nostalgia
-Pokedex! Hurrah!
-Free town map? Thanks BLUE's sister!
-10 pokeballs and a couple of antidotes should last me a while...
-Route 22 yields a L3 nidoran, I name her SMIRNO
-Minor Grinding
My team now looks like this:

CHE
Charmander
L8
-Tackle
-Growl

SMIRNO
Nidoran
L6
-Growl
-Tackle

My adventure thus far has been riveting, and somewhat danger-free.

Route 30 - failed
Route 46 - Rattata lv 3 / EH

SUCKA died because i was careless and took a peck from a trainer's goldeen.
This looks to be another failed Nuzlocke. STATIC died from a geodude that knew rock throw. HEMHAW got very lucky and got in a critted Lick on his last PP. Too many close calls, time for training i guess. Also im saving route 33 for (i hope) heracross.

Drilled like hell. I still defeated bugsy, but barely. *sigh* this is going to be a tough challenge.

Another update. I've decided to change my writing style. This way is easier for me.

A Surprisingly small amount of grinding was required for Brock, I only had to get CHE to L15 and the rest of my team to 10/11 for it. The battle itself was fairly easy and lossless. CHE defeated Geodude with Ember, and for Onix KIRO and SMIRNO used Sand Attack and Growl (respectively) to the max, all I had to do was switch CHE in for a few embers and he was defeated. Simples.

Movin' along to Route 3, the trainers were all surprisingly strong, but nothing compared to my team (especially CHE). Levels were gained, moves were learned, and CHE evolved (initiating much annoyance at Charmeleon's backsprite). In the grass I saw a L8 Pidgey, which I caught, called PEDRO and Boxed (one Pidgey is more than enough, thanks). A spot of grinding later and I head towards Mt. Moon.

Almost immediately after entering Mt. Moon a Zubat appears. I figure I may as well catch it, and name him Dross. He turns out to be a pain in the a*** to train. With only Leech Life, I can't really train him on Route 2 (it's nearly all Pidgeys and Spearows) and the other Zubats in Mt. Moon barely provide any experience.

F***! training zubats is one of the most unrewarding experiences in all of the Pokemon games. They don't even get that strong! This is basically for a last resort pokemon. I only managed to get it up to L10 in what seemed like ages -.-

Current party:
Spoiler:
CHE
Charmeleon
L16
-Scratch
-Growl
-Ember
-Leer

KIRO
Pidgey
L14
-Gust
-Sand Attack
-Quick Attack

ARDRE
Beedrill
L12
-Poison Sting
-String Shot
-Fury Attack

SMIRNO
Nidoran (F)
L13
-Growl
-Tackle
-Scratch

Dross
Zubat
L10
-Leech Life
-Supersonic

In the box:
Spoiler:
PEDRO - Pidgey
L8

Fun bit of trivia for ya:
Spoiler:
-The names for KIRO and SMIRNO came from brands of vodka
-CHE comes from my great great Grandad - Chelub
-Dross is so named because I had an advert for Ross Noble on my desk
-Ardre comes from the word Arduous (what I thought training my Weedle would be)

Heart's Soul August 7th, 2010 5:52 PM

I just realized that this is impossible on Pokemon Yellow. I can't get out of the lab, I HAVE to lose.

dragon0fangz August 7th, 2010 10:29 PM

sorry for lack of updates.
Ilex Forest - Oddish lv 6 / WANDERER
Route 33 - Spearow lv 10 / I TRIED
Azalea Town - Weedle lv 10 / BZZZ
Trained BZZZ up to lv 19 to goldenrod and just beyond.
Easily (!) beat Whitney, thanks to HEMHAW's hypnosis x curse.
Team after beating whitney:
BZZZ/Beedrill lv 19
THIS ONE/Totodile lv 16
HEMHAW/Gastly lv 20
SAVIOR/Togepi lv 17

Route 34 - Drowzee lv 10 / FREDDY
Route 35 - Drowzee lv 14 / KRUEGER
National Park - Hoothoot lv 10 / WHO?
Route 36 - Sudowoodo lv 20 / WOODY
Was training KRUEGER, it died from a completely unexpected Pursuit from a Doduo, while i was switching out.
...Have I ever told you how much i hate crithax? One of my best fighters, HEMHAW, died from a critted confusion by a slowpoke. On full health.
Also, does the Olivine Harbor count as a separate area? It has different pokemon, so...
