Will you take the last name of your partner at marriage?
If you're a guy - most likely not, but you do think your partner would want to take yours, etc. Um, for gays just say if you would if you could... assuming you can't. Also the usual, why or why not.
|
I probably will, just because =P But then again, I'm going to miss my initials now T_T This is what they are now: E.L.F. (It's also ironic that I was the shortest among my old group of friends...I still am when I saw them just recently XD).
|
I'm a man... ._.
Although I wouldn't change my last name for the world. It's far too epic with the contrast between its racial implications and my true ethnicity. Those people on PC that know my last name (not that I do a good job of hiding it) will know what I"m talking about. XD |
I don't like my last name, or my first one for that matter. So... I wouldn't want my spouse to take. && If I was in a gay marriage, I'd take his. xP
|
Most likely, yes is my answer. nwn
|
I don't know. If they have a kick-ass last name, probably. :) Otherwise... well, it's just a name. I'm attached to my current last name but I'd probably get attached to a new one too, once I got used to it.
And I think hyphenation looks silly. I doubt I'd go that route. |
Only If I can't pronuce it and spell it
|
Sure, why not.
I don't see it as a big deal. x3 |
I'm a guy, and personally, I would really want my wife to have my last name. I would be extremely dissapointed if they wouldn't, but it wouldn't be something I'd drop her for.
|
Of course I want my wife to have my last name even though my last name sucks ;_;. Seriously, who want to be called -insert girly first name here- Easterling Dx.
|
i really don't care if the girl i marry takes her last name or mine, it's really pointless to me
|
Since I am a male, I would say yes, they probably would want to take my name. I don't see why there would be a problem.
|
That's currently up in the air. I currently like the ring to my current last and first name (especially because it's amusing that some people can't spell my name, even though in America, my last name is the same name as someone quite vital in US History.). I guess it depends on if my name has a nice ring to my husband's last name or not.
No Hyphens though; those names are generally long. XD; |
Depends on how "odd" the last name is. Some Europeans nations can have odd spellings.
No hyphens. |
Yes, it's tradition for the female to take the male's last name. If not, then both names are combined together with a hyphen in alphabetical order.
|
My gf has already said she wants to take my last name when we eventually tie the not. No idea when that will be though.

as for me, far from having a gf, far from marrying anyone |
Hmm... well, first I'll take it and see if I like it. If it sounds good, I actually might. If not, eh, unless my wife really wants me to, then no. If she wants, I'll do it, just so she's happy. =)
|
Gringos use a hyphen, Mexicans get to use the word "de"
<Girl First Name> <Girl Last Name 1> <Girl Last Name 2> ... <Girl Last Name n> de <Guy Last Name 1> XD Looks much sexier on her name. I'm pretty sure the simple name change would do well. |
I would not take a partner's name, and would not want them sharing my name, nor would we have a doubled name.
|
I hate my last name. I will gladly kiss it goodbye. It's not connected to bad roots or anything, it's just boring, needs to change, is always misspelled, and sounds bad added to my name.
|
I'm planning on just keeping my last name the same. I can't imagine having a different last name then the one I've always had and I really don't feel like changing it for any reason. Then again if my husband had some crazy last name maybe I'd change it. Just for the fun of it. Most likely I won't be changing it though.
Oh, and I'm not hyphenating it either. I hate the way that looks. |
I am going to take my fiance's last name :3 I'm really excited to have his last name as my own :'D
|
Christopher Martinez has a nice ring to it, I guess.
But we'll just have to wait and see~ I'm not really that fussed over who gets which name in marriage, as long as the isn't Smith. I am /never/ becoming a Smith. |
I didn't know men could. O-O
If I could, I would not. I like my last name because it reminds me of trees and nature. And nature helps us live and it makes me glad to be one of the people who care about the earth and recycle. |
I hope they take mine, so we can be Mr and Mrs Xxxxxxx. Then again my dad added his fist name so I'm not last on the register. That makes me Xxxx-Xxxxxxx, I'm going to remove it, too long, I mean it's an ethnic name as it is but having it longer o__O I'm talking to my parent about this later. Anyway, yes, please take my name, so we're not Mr Xxxxxxx and Ms X?????? or Mr and Mrs X???????-Xxxxxxx. But the hyphens are only for the children right?
|
I hate my last name, so I doubt she'll take it. If anything, I would take theirs unless it was worse than mine. xD'
