-Glug glug- I can't swim!

xD, me and Dukey were talking about this and I got curious....

1)Can you swim?
2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?

Jesh May 19th, 2010 1:26 PM

I can indeed.

I've done Squad Swimming from 10-18 :P

Freestyle/Butterfly :]

As deep as I can go.

Zebeedoo May 19th, 2010 1:43 PM

I can... sort of. I can't swim in the deep end of the pool though. I can only swim in the shallow end. (NO NOT THE BABY POOL)

No way. ;;

None?

Eh, not that deep. I can only go under the water for like 10 seconds. And I can't keep my head up out of the water for some reason. xD

Legobricks May 19th, 2010 1:51 PM

1)Can you swim?
Yes.

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly?
Nothing special, me.

3)If so, what is your best stroke?
Doggy paddle? If you call it that, I dunno. Being aquaphobic I'm more content to keep my head stably above the water than anything else, although I would say it's the easiest way to swim anyway. As one may guess, I don't tend to swim recreationally.

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
Anything really, just so long as there's a dry surface nearby.

mikey May 19th, 2010 2:55 PM

1)Can you swim? Yup.
2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not? Yes, I am pretty good at it, I took lessons when I was younger.
3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time? I guess the backstroke xD
4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end? Anything.

donavannj May 19th, 2010 3:02 PM

1)Can you swim?
Yes. I actually learned how to twice. I managed to forget how to swim somehow between the ages of 6 and 12. XD;

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I'm not terribly good, but it's passable in water not any deeper than 20 feet.

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
Well, I guess it'd be either the backstroke or breaststroke, since I really just know the basics.

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
I personally wouldn't go into anything deeper than 15 feet willingly. I'm not buoyant enough to want to try anything deeper. :s

hiphiphippo May 19th, 2010 3:49 PM

1)Can you swim?
yar! :D

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly?
not very, just enough to survive and play around

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)?
breaststroke. cuz it's the only stroke i know

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
as far as the deep end goes, which is usually like 10ft
in the ocean, not very far. no more than a coupla feet higher than my height

Sydian May 19th, 2010 5:30 PM

I hate swimming. I don't like wearing a swim suit. I don't know any strokes, I'm okay at swimming though. I never do it enough to be amazing. And I won't enter a pool at all. I'll definitely skip out on the ocean.

Eurydice May 19th, 2010 6:13 PM

yes
i think i am quite good. out of all my friends i am the one who swims the fastest.
i dont know, probably the breaststroke
i dont really know, i am not afraid of deep water but most of the time i stay were i can touch the bottom. but it depends on who i am swimming with, some of my friends arent very good swimmers but others are like me and cant stop swimming.

Binary May 19th, 2010 6:26 PM

1)Can you swim?
Hardly
2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I'm not so good, mainly because I've had only a few lessons and I rarely get to go to the pool.
3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
Teach me.
4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
I almost drowned once at the deepest end. It was when I was like 10 or so.

Timbjerr May 19th, 2010 6:41 PM

I consider myself a fairly good swimmer. I was a lifeguard during my teenage years. :D

My favorite stroke would be the breaststroke (or froggy style as I called it when I was younger) and I'm comfortable going into any depth in a swimming pool. The ocean I can pass on though. Beaches around here aren't that pretty and I've been attacked by tentacool jellyfish more times than I can remember. D:

Sammi May 19th, 2010 6:49 PM

I can kind of swim. I can't do anything really fancy; I mostly doggypaddle everywhere in the pool, which barely gets me by. However, I can float pretty well, and thus going more towards the deep end doesn't bother me. I try not to go anywhere past about 6ft, though, just in case.

I can't wait until the pool opens up in city park in our town again. I was so bummed that it was closed last summer, but they're building a new one that should be open by July. Swimming is so much fun~ :D

Zeffy May 19th, 2010 6:56 PM

1)Can you swim?
Yes.

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I think, I'm fairly good at it. :3

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
Freestyle! 8D

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
As long as there's land, then I'd go as deep as I can!

Dukey May 20th, 2010 1:09 AM

Hahaha, saw this and was like "I'd better get some credit in this xD"

Anyways, I'm fairly good. Do times of like..
30 for freestyle?
Don't remember the others too well but yeah xD

Alkaide May 20th, 2010 6:52 AM

It's a fact that I hate, but, I don't know to swim anyways~

But I would like to learn it, I mean I am just 14 man.

Uecil May 20th, 2010 6:58 AM

1)Can you swim?
I can swim, I love swimming especially in the sea at the beach.

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I'm good enough to swim anywhere as long as the water isn't too deep.

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
I think i'm maybe best at the Breast stroke.

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
I've swum to the deep end before, but I nearly drowned ;< I hated that, but deepest it probably depends if there is a rail going a long the side of the swimming pool.

Bluerang1 May 20th, 2010 10:02 AM

1) Yes
2) Not very, just haven't practised and swam very much I guess.
3) Breast stroke, it's the easy one isn't it? But I think I could do the butterfly, (the one with the hands and legs spreading?) before I even learnt breast stroke xD And I couldn't believe I could do it when I finally learnt back stroke, so cool! :D
4) I'll go? 5ft. That should be about 1ft shorter than me :) Oh, because I'm scared and not very good at the deep end.

luf100 May 20th, 2010 12:09 PM

Can you swim?
Yea, I can.

If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I'm okay at it, I took swimming lessons when I was younger.

If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
I have no idea what their technical names are. I guess it'd be backstroke? The going forward on your stomach one. I'm also really good at the doggy paddle.

In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end.
I can tread water and keep myself up easy enough so in a pool, I'll go to the deep end. At a beach, I don't really go anywhere over my head. xD

Mattysaurus May 20th, 2010 12:12 PM

1)Can you swim? Yes, of course.

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
I am pretty good. Not super fast, but at least I won't die. ;D

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
I don't know the difference. I just kick my legs and swim? :O

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
I go to the lake at it can get to like 30 ft. :D

1)Can you swim?

I can swim yes but I'm not a pro at swimming

2)If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?

...I don't know?

3)If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?

Um... I don't really have a stroke... I just swim... O.o See, when i swim, my feet have a mind of their own. I have trouble keeping them above the water. So usually I just use my arms to do all the work and my feet can do the work when they find it essential. I know its weird but... yeah.

4)In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?

probably 4 feet... any deeper and I can't swim. >_<

NarutoActor May 20th, 2010 4:30 PM

I am a really good swimmer, not to be vain. I own a pool, so I get a lot of practice I can dive all the way to the bottom, and come back up. (which is 14ft deep)

Tandem May 20th, 2010 4:34 PM

1) Can you swim?
yes. (:

2) If so, how good are you at it, honestly? If not, why not?
i'm a pretty strong swimmer, actually. i took lessons when i was younger & i love swimming. xD

3) If so, what is your best stroke (ex, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, etc)? If not, would you like to learn at some time?
i like the breaststroke the best, since it's the easiest, haha.

4) In general, what is the deepest you'll go into the pool/ocean. 4 ft? 5? 12 at the deep end?
i'll go into the deep end in a pool, but in the ocean, the deepest i'll go is in to about my armpits.
i get nervous about sharks & riptides. :X

Hantsuki May 21st, 2010 7:35 AM

I can't swim. I don't even know how to stay afloat in deep water (I guess that's called swimming?) but I can float on my back. I don't like doing it though. I haven't had too many friendly experiences with water.

Amaruuk May 21st, 2010 11:38 AM

If by 'swim' you mean 'move about in water' or 'not drown' yeah.

I'm pretty terrible at it. I've got piss-poor stamina (as with other things like running) and I can't exhale underwater like you're supposed to (it just stops, like my face/nose gets confused and refuses to do it). I can float around, doggy-paddle, and tread water for a while, though.

I dunno any strokes. I think they tried to teach me breaststroke in the swim lessons I had 6-ish years ago (where I discovered I can't exhale if my face is underwater) but my gross motor coordination is terrible so I really didn't ever get it right :/

Depth? I dunno. Deeper than I am tall, of course.

I haven't swam in at least 3 years, so who knows if this is all still true.

mondays suck May 21st, 2010 1:36 PM

I can swim, but I'm horrible at it and don't enjoy it. In fact, I haven't been to the swimming pool (where some others seem to go each day to) in the last 2 years, and back then it was only because it was some kind of school trip.
