TAG, YOU'RE IT!
What were some of the games you played when you were little? No, I don't mean video games... I mean things you played outside at recess or what you and your friends... or even teachers made up.
For me, we had something called Jail ball. I can't really remember how it was played because it was so long ago but long story short, if you were hit with a ball, you had to go to jail and stay there until the next game. We also had TV tag and um... I can't think what else, lol. XD |
n_n I definitely remember playing cops & robbers with the boys as a kid when all the girls were playing house. It was way more fun. I don't even remember how it works now--I think it was just some variant of tag.
Also fun was rotating hide & seek with my cousins. :D You didn't have to stick to your hiding spot so if you had the chance to do so, you could run into a room they'd already checked to hide again. The games would take forever in my grandparents' old house. XD; |
most of the games we played got banned..conkers,british bulldog you name it we played it..
|
Ah, yes. I remember playing tag with my friends. I always used to be 'it' and I couldn't catch any of my friends. That made me sad ;_;
Me and my friends also used to play spinning tops, if that also counts. That was more fun :D We also used to play a game with a stick gun, a variation of hide and seek. It was pretty fun n_n |
When I was a kid we would play all sorts of kid games. The one we played the most would be hide and seek. It usually took forever because our old house had a jungle for a backyard and we were constantly moving from place to place xD. Among others were tag, duck duck goose, those jump ropes games, and dress up for the hell of it xD.
|
Football, Basket Ball, and Volley Ball. Man Hunt. I also was a fan for about ever version of tag ever. :D
|
Freeze Tag, Red Light Green Light, Hide & Seek. Good times.
|
Tag, Dodge Ball, Tetherball, 4-Square, Hide and Seek and Wallball were the main games I played.
|
Well, there was freeze tag, TV tag, lava tag, red rover, lightning (basketball, and my favorite), four square, horse (more basketball), pig (more basketball), tether-ball (yes, my elementary playground had one of these), snowfort fights, trench (similar to dodgeball - rarely did this outside), kingpin (dodgeball with bowling pins - also rarely did this outside), soccer, wallball, hide-and-seek, and numerous others I can't remember. And let's not forget playing with toy cars in the sandbox at the school playground (when it wasn't a nest for hornets, or even if it was).
|
Bull rush was probably the game we played the most, followed closely by Tag and Hide and Go seek.
|
I played flashlight tag, which is a kind of nighttime hide and seek, with my cousins at their large and irregularly shaped house and property. You got caught if whoever was 'it' got you in their light and called out your name. Not so easy because you could always run away and try hiding somewhere else when they were getting close. With all the odd landscaping, parked cars and such it was easy to hide so it was a ton of fun.
At school I played handball or whatever you call the game where you throw the big red rubber ball against a wall. And foursquare. And tetherball. |
Outside? Friends? Both of these things rarely happened to me (especially going outside)... The only things that come to my mind would be football and badminton.
There also sometimes were games like Piggie in the middle or some kind of catching games which I hated because I always ended up losing due to lack of sports talent. |
A lot!
Tag, Hide-and-seek (I still play it, in my school, but it's called Man-hunt). Cops and Robbers, Dodge-ball, King's Pin, Basketball and a weird game involving a Frisbee and a basketball hoop to name a few. xD |
A game called "Duck, Duck, Goose" is like the only game I played with my friends when I was younger. xD For those of you who do not know what it is, someone has to go around and pat people on the head while sitting in a circle, and while you pat their heads, you have to say "Duck" for each person. Then, when you say "Goose" on someone, you have to make a run for it all around the whole playground while they chase you and manage to get back to the circle before they catch you.
/not very good at explaining things. |
Me and my friends would play a game called "Grounders". Brings back memories. Basically this game can be played on a playstructure. One person is it and stays on the ground while everyone is on the playstructure. Person or tagger on the ground, closes their eyes and tries to find someone on the playstructure. If the tagger finds someone, he/she must identify the person's name in order to tag them. If tagger is right the person they identified is it and goes on the ground and closes their eyes and it repeats. But the people on the playstructure, if they're not it can move around the playstructure to avoid the tagger. They can even go on the ground. But if the tagger says "Grounders" and there is someone on the ground, they are it.

Hide and go seek was a big one when I was younger. Then as I got older to make it more challenging I progressed to hide and go seek in the dark. There was also this game I used to play called man hunt which was played in the dark, outside, and with two teams. I played tag a little bit too, but I wasn't that big of a fan. That's all I can remember at the moment besides card games.
Oh and there was also hopscotch! |
I wouldplay tag, hide'n'seek, cops and robbers, murder at night... and etc. basically variations of tag+hide'n'seek.
|
tag/freeze tag,hide and seek,kickball,and dodgeball =3
