Do you have World Languages at your School and if you do, What Language?

Do you have a Language Course at Your school, If so, What Language is it?

Frostweaver November 16th, 2003 12:28 PM

One choice... French.

Since i need a secondary language to enter university, i'm forced to take this language that i have absolutely no interest in.

Igglybuddy November 16th, 2003 12:34 PM

I need a second language for IB, so I'm taking French...'tis hextremely hard. Ugh. x_X

The only other languages offered at my school are Spanish and Italian, I think...

Too-Angel November 16th, 2003 12:41 PM

I'm currently taking Russian III for 3rd year. It's kind of difficult at this stage now. Later on, i'll take Spanish III within this upcoming 10 more days.

There is only French class and Sign Language.. : P

I don't want to learn French, cus it will make me sound girly >.<;; I wish my school taught Italian, its almost like Spanish!! I only know one word in Italian.. and that is MERDA. Which is "crap" in English.. ^^;

I would like to learn Sign Language, but it seems hard.. I heard German is a HARD language to learn..

I only know one sign in Sign Language!

I can take either Spanish or French at my school and i'm taking Spanish

latiosspud November 16th, 2003 2:41 PM

In my school, everyone has to take French where there are three levels, régulière (people who know a little French), enrichie (people who know okay French), and maternelle (people who know perfect French). There's also Spanish as an art option (drama, art, debating, jazz band, and Spanish) but that's random.

Rift November 16th, 2003 2:52 PM

At my school we have to take Spanish, but that was last year this year we choose what we want to do! ^^ its so fun!

My school teaches French, Italian, and Spanish. I take Italian, however. Oh, and if you think Spanish is close to Italian -- think again, buddy! lol. ^^; There's MANY differences. Okay, "burro" is donkey in Spanish, right? *waits* Yeah, I know that's rhetorical for the time being, but in Italian "burro" means butter. In Italian, donkey is "asino". Makes sense; seeing as we have the word jackass. HOWEVER! I do get off subject and by no means am I trying to teach you through message boards...^^; Italian's a good language and the only language I'd say it's similar to is Latin. Take it! ^_^

Timbjerr November 16th, 2003 7:39 PM

my school offers only Spanish and French...
I took Spanish for two years (which is the minimum number of credits we need to graduate), but I wish I hadn't passed up my chance to take more advanced Spanish classes...I feel being bilingual will help me on later in life...

Dizzy November 17th, 2003 2:57 PM

Woah, No one has Portuguese? German? Latin?

My school offers These but they have to be with your Career Pathway or jut an Elective to earn credits so that you can take them.

Theres
Latin ( Medical )
German, French ( Communication )
and Spanish and Portuguese ( very Similar )

Im taking 4 years of Portugese even though i can already speak it, but if i dont want to ill take Spanish , even though i can speak that already too....

Mifuui November 18th, 2003 10:29 AM

At my school you can study: Japanese, Italian, Spanish, German or French.
(And of course English^^; )
But if you would like to study another language and there are enough of other people who want that language too, the teachers have to try to find a teacher for that language.

Btw. I study English and Japanese. (and I used to study German.)

jynx November 18th, 2003 11:43 AM

There's French, German and Latin in my school, but I take none of those, because I am foreign.

Dizzy November 18th, 2003 11:51 AM

It Truly angers me that I am the only member on Pc that Falar Portugues.... Well Thats a good thing too. Carol understands somethings though lol...

Cherrim November 18th, 2003 6:22 PM

Italian is sort of like French, too. Some of the words are fairly similiar. o_O; If it weren't, I'd be beyond lost since my area consists of a lot of Italians. @[email protected];;

Anyway, back on topic, my school simply offers French, Italian and Spanish. French is mandatory in grade 9 and then we also have to take another 3rd language class to get the credit to pass high school.

:3 I'm taking Japanese at another local high school. I get my credit for it, too. *joy* XD That high school also offers a few different Chinese courses and... other languages. o_O After I saw Japanese in the handout, I didn't look at the others.

Allstories November 19th, 2003 11:11 AM

I'm taking Spanish 1 presently, but I hate my Spanish teacher. She always draws these incomprehensible stick figures and makes us write what one may be saying. A lot of times I might be nearly correct but I miss this one tiny circle and she's all "NO NO, THE SUN IS HERE, IT'S BUENOS NOCHES." It's really aggrivating, but meh, I guess the class is okay otherwise.

DragonTrainer November 19th, 2003 2:36 PM

I don't take a language class yet, but I know spanish, and will take french next year.

Does that count?

22sa November 30th, 2003 1:40 PM

There's Japanese, German, Spanish, and French in my school. Originally, I wanted to was going to take German going into high school, but I switched courses to Japanese as soon as I could. I kind of forgot why, but it was my best choice ever thank God.

Miyu-chan January 10th, 2004 11:01 AM

My school only offers French and Spanish. I don't understand neither, so I figured, "Who cares?" Before, I wanted to take Spanish, but I didn't want to be in the same class as my cousin... So I decided to take French. =.= Since I'm one semester behind, my teacher's telling me to start from "Bounjour, Salut, Au revior...etc..." ;_;

Hikaru's Twin January 10th, 2004 11:09 AM

Well, my school teaches: French, German, Spanish and Russian. Out of these languages i'm learning Russian and German. ^_^

AZSupraT January 10th, 2004 2:09 PM

We have japanese, spanish, german, and french
oh yeah plus they teach english(for those elligal immigrants who cant talk)
But since i dropped out i wont have a chance to take any . . .

Cherrim January 10th, 2004 3:26 PM

Just because some people can't speak english doesn't mean they're illegal immigrants. -_-

oni flygon January 10th, 2004 3:42 PM
