Does pikachu produce AC or DC power?

I've been wondering if pikachu puts out AC(alternating current) or DC(direct current). If someone could help me with that it would be great.

OK let's think...

The power fro battery is DC and from the socket is AC.

Often we see in anime, when pikachu does about a dozen of thunderbolts, he'll be very exhausted. It's like a battery dying. That's why I guess Pikachu produces DC power.

EDIT: Speaking of AC & DC... AC/DC gig 2DAY! Yes!

I think lightning bolts are typically DC (waits for science nerds to own him) so I'd assume Pikachu's attacks follow a similar trend.
