This is a ROM hack set in a none existant region, called Austra.



The basis of the Pokemon - Sky SD is that your character is travelling this region, collecting the badges of the region. Through out the region there is a group of people, attempting to capture the Black Rayquaza that is said to enhabit the Region.


Your story begins on a small island, known as Kangaroo Island, the home of Prof. Oaks Austra Lab.
Your Dad has gone out that morning to gather things together for you to begin your journey as a trainer.
These include your starter:-

Swablu, Growlithe, and Phanpy.

Your Dad also gives you Trainers, a Town Map, 5 Poke Balls and a Pokedex.

He then asks you to investigate a mysterious group of people that steal Flying-Type Pokemon. He also mentions that he has asked two others to help him.

And so the adventure begins.

- The Mysterious 'Team Sky'

Fisherman Dave is a character inserted too sell you fishing rods at different points in the game. i.e. Sells you the old rod, ect.

This looks good so far.The only thing i can't understand is the 3 starters.Phanpy can beat growlithe and swablu and they don't have any move that is super-effective on phanpy.I think that you should change swablu.

Growlithe get beat by Phanpy.
Phanpy's STAB is immune against Swablu.
Growlithe is more powerful that Swablu.

Also the map for Edge Town is up for those that want too have a look.
The home of Taillows, and a single Swellow. The first major event in the story line is here.

The screenshots look really good, but... *looks at features* I don't see why you need new sprites for "all the main pokemon," unless by "main" you just mean the starters. If that's all, then yeah, sounds pretty cool.
Now based on the story, it looks like you're reusing the Oak's Parcel script. Bleh. It's interesting to pick and choose and reuse certain scripts, but I don't know that such an easily recognizable script so early in the game needs to be in a hack. But I digress.
The hack looks like it has potential. I look forward to seeing it completed.

I like your realisticness, but for new sprites we mean very small changes (other than starters and rayquaza) and we wanted to keep the Oak's parcel script, we could get rid of it if we wanted but we like the fact you have to go back to the beginning to get the pokedex, also it triggers the grunts blocking the way on king island to disappear which works really well. Other than that thanks :)

Edit: We may change the name, picture and description of Oak's Parcel to 5 pokeballs or 1 i'm not sure on the amount.

but, the starters are maybe not well balanced enough......
usually the starters should be in a circle all three in inferiority and minority(I'm sure I have a grammar mistake in this phrase, sorry for my bad english :S)
and I can't see it in these 3 starters......
but I think it's still alright ;)

I'd like to join as an assistant scripter.

Where I don't be one of your scripters, but if you think of some unorthodox scripts that you're not sure you can do, I can think of ways to do them. (Thinks like re-challengable trainers, a rock climb HM, stuff like that).

Sure, you can. we'll send you a patch once the part we are currently working on is complete.

The Offical Beta will be released once the Second City is complete, this includes the Second Gym. A special optional event will take place there, in the urban sprawl.
You'll have too wait and play it too find more. ;)

Don't send a patch. They tend not to ever work fully properly for me. or maybe that is just me.

You should fold it's wings in, rotate it counter clockwise a bit and have it's head and beak pointing out more. That would look cool.

Edit: Also, if you can, rotate it a bit so it's facing towards your Pokémon more if you can (Y)

I wanted to tell you that if you use this to change music, you can set two variables in the beginning so whenever the bike music should play, it instead plays Gary's theme. It'd probably be easier than overwriting the song.

altariaking, that is a really good idea you have there. Replace one of the ??? Pokémon with a unique Swablu, with a crown or what ever else. Then give it the same stats, cry etc, and add in a script that adds Swablu into your Pokédex (because it will technically be a Pokémon not in the Dex).

There will be new forms for each of the evolved starters (altaria, arcanine and donphan).
Altaria will have a crown!! The other two are secret for you to find out if you play through the game.

note: your starter will evolve into the normal form not the new one.

Hmm, a twitter feed eh? Don't know that I've ever seen one of those for a hack before. In any case, since I don't have a twitter I will still be following through this thread.

So I read hear that there will be alternative forms of the starters' evos... but that the starters won't evolve into them. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I doubt I'm going to go traipsing through the grass, looking to recatch my starter and hope that it can evolve into the special version. Or do you plan on just making the special forms appear in the wild as events? That would tie up any loose ends and fixes continuity errors within the evolutionary lines, as well as just making more sense.

These special versions will be 'Events'.
Each accuring during the storyline. I can't say much more at the moment, as exactly when for each is not final.

An extra piece of info on these, they can be Breed to give you a Special Prevolution.

But I don't like the fact that you are going to a Mart to pick up some package for Oak. It's either because you don't want to change that script, or you are unable to.

- New section has been added, the Sprite Collection.

Update: -
First and fore most.
- New Tiles have been implemented.
e.g New Gym And new rocks


There are now new Screenshots on the first post.
The Sprite Section is in the process of being updated as more and more sprites are added too it.

- We are getting closer too the first Beta release, as the next set of maps are getting completed.
The new city is Warrow City, the home of the Second Gym.

- Thirdly, as it was noticed the game is loosly based around Australia. Because of this we are adding in several references.
A major addition is that of Foster's Beer, instead of the Vending Machine Drinks. This comes in three sizes, 1/2 Pint, Pint and Keg.
The other additions are up to you too find through out the game. They could be anything from Music to Sport.


- Next, it seems that we are in the running for Hack of The Week, this week.

Thanks too anyone that has voted. and Good Luck too Pokemon Lynn and Pokemon Master Quest.
We'll update with the results when they arrive.

On a different note, these updates are looking pretty good SkySD. I like the gym you inserted, and your sprite section looks like it will grow something that could sell people on your hack on its own. And who doesn't like Foster's? It's Australian for beer!

You should insert the D/P/P sprite of Swablu.

Anyways, if you're using Gary as the Hero, you should

We've finished the Swablu sprite now, and we will add in the Gary Back Sprite, we just haven't yet sue too more pressing matters.

You sort of play as Gary. The story is as if you weren't Gary but just a normal player but you do play as him in the sense that his OW, backsprite and so on have the appearance of Gary.

We're working on it guys, thanks for the comments.

About the legendary part, we are only having a Select few legendaries in this game. Not too many, about the same volume as FR/LG R/S/E.

- Oak's Parcel Script Removed
Due too the several issues we've had with the Oak's Parcel script, we have removed it, and added a rotating selection. i.e. You are asked if you want one pokemon, if you say no it goes onto the next, then again, and finally back too the beginning.

- Mapping
Warrow City, and the following route are mapped, we are just working on the Scripts, Sprites and Titlescreen too fill out for Beta 1.

- We are not accepting any more Beta Testers for any that were wondering. The Current beta testers will get an Alpha of the game soon.

The very latest that the first beta will be released is the 24th of July. But it should come out much before that.

graphically this hack looks really great, and the revamped / new sprites are also very well done ;D
keep up the good work! i'll definitely try out beta 1 when it comes out.

New update: -
- Beta 1 is ever closer too release. It will be released within the next two weeks. Going farther than the second gym.
- The first post has been update, and altered
- We have decided to replace the Player overworld, ect. To add a more individual feel too the game.
- Currently Adding a Title Screen. (Got it too work, just need too change it a bit)
- Intro is also being edited. Along with Oak being replaced by your Dad in the opening.

Just a quick thing, but since it's your dad shouldn't it say, "Nice to see you" or something instead of, "Glad to meet you"? Other then that, it's really nice. Can't wait for the beta.

We were sorting out the graphic elements, but it will say something alonmg those lines.

Um...yeah that would be good.
Sending you an updated version of the ROM this minute.
When do you think it will be done?

Remember:-
-Keep the gym, stairs and exits the same
-Keep the same number of houses (3, 2 of them semi-detached)
-Make the beach so that if you enter the map from the top left, you cannot get to the other side without going on-land (this is currently done with water as you do not have surf at this point in the game)
-Only use tiles from the secondary tileset

I've made a couple of animations for the tropical tileset but do not know how to import them :(, (I have animeditor but it won't open the animations) anyway one is a tropical flower that has similar movement to the flower animation in emerald. And the other is of tropical water with calm waves.

EDIT: the waves look strange because some of them have part of the wave from a different tile at the top left of the tile.

The Black Rayquaza is a Shiny one, which is always shiny. (like shiny gyrados in G/S)

Any comments on the new sprites?

Due to several reasons we are going to have to push the Beta Release date back a few weeks.

- During a play through major glitches were found, and will need to be fixed.
- Also we are both away for the next week, removing the access to a computer.

Sorry to those that were expecting a release. we are working on it.
