Gym Leader Challenge

After the utter failue that was my last one of these, I've decided to try again.

Rules
1. You may only use Pokemon in battle that your chosen Gym Leader uses.
2. You may use HM Slaves
3. You may trade to evolve Pokemon
4. You must use your Gym Leaders signature Pokemon, e.g. Brock must have an Onix, Misty must have a Starmie etc.
5. This challenge ends when you defeat the Elite Four
6. You must have your first Pokemon before the 2nd Gym, this is possible.
7. Try to post every couple of Gyms
8. I'll be participating in this challenge
9. Have fun

Emlam June 3rd, 2010 6:55 AM

Might give it a go when I'm done with my other challenge. :)

Ramsie June 3rd, 2010 7:08 AM

Going to do this on red version as Blaine. And I also might do this on Blue version.
Update forthcoming.

Vroke June 3rd, 2010 7:30 AM

I'll do this! This sounds neat.

I'll do Misty and Water Pokemon!

AnjinMiura_PL June 3rd, 2010 7:40 AM

Okay, I want Lt.Surge pokemons, in Pokemon Blue.
And also - it's impossible to get a Thunderstone before battle with Misty. So? Can I've Pikachu to Celadon City, or trade before Misty to other savegame -> evolution -> back to game?

Yeah, remember you don't need your signature Pokemon before Misty but you need one Pokemon your Gym Leader uses or a pre-evolved form before Misty.

AnjinMiura_PL June 3rd, 2010 8:31 AM

I see that challenging Brock with Pikachu will be very, very fun :D
Anyway, I'm in with Surge team. 1st update today in this post ;)

Edit: 1st Update:

Spoiler:

I've decided to took Lt. Surge Pokemons. Okay then. My rival is Pedro, I'm Ober (as always).
-I've chosen Squirtle as a starter, then won with Pedro.
-In Virdian Forest found PokeBall and catched 3rd lvl Pikachu [Thunder]
-Hard training from 3rd do 20th level (previously I wanted to 26th) including battle with Pedro and Bug Catchers
-I really wanted to fight with Brock, so I went to his gym. Growl + Quick Attack = unexpected victory.
-Mt. Moon, everything goes well, Thunder advanced from 21st to 26th
-2nd battle with Pedro (won of course), and enter to the Nugget Brigde
-Nugget obtained, yes! I need those money.
-I've bought one Pokeball and catched Bellsprout (13th lvl). I really haven't ideas, so I named him Dante (as Dante Aligheri, o_O)
-Hard Dante's training, with battles against all trainers at the way to Bill. Dante advanced to 26th level.
-Time to get Cascadebadge: Starmie passed after two Thundershocks and one Swift. Badge is mine, as well.

http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/1113/timw.png

And now, why I really need the money?
My goal is to get Porygon, and I just need money for the coins ^.^
Next update in Celadon City, with Porygon I believe ;)

Emlam June 3rd, 2010 8:41 AM

I like Starmie well enough - I want a little more challenge for the first gym though, and Rhydon owns, so I'll be Giovanni when I get the chance. Just gotta choose between Red and Yellow now.

seal June 3rd, 2010 9:07 AM

Right, I'm starting this challenge. Update soon and I've decided on my final team for Brock:
Golem
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/9c/Spr_1b_076.png
Rhydon
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/8c/Spr_1b_112.png
Ninetales
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/4/48/Spr_1b_038.png
Dugtrio
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e5/Spr_1b_051.png
Slowbro
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/8c/Spr_1b_080.png
Onix
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/f/f1/Spr_1b_095.png
There I think that should be enough for the Elite Four.

Emlam June 3rd, 2010 7:12 PM

It has begun.
Spoiler:
Started up Yellow.
Named myself Giovani (7-char. limit for names)
Named my rival Fredo.
Got my Pika, named him TEMP, caught a pair of Nidos with him and chucked him back in the PC as soon as they could fend for themselves. Didn't take long, those little bunnies level up like nobody's business.
Named the male Mikey and the female Kay.
Scratched and Horn Attacked my way through the forest. Mikey and Kay evolved by the time we got out.
Took down Brock's Geodude easily with two Double Kicks from my lv. 17 Nidorino. Waited out Onix's Bide with Leer, then a Double Kick for the KO.

Mt. Moon was uneventful.
In Cerulean I head to the bridge and whaddy'a know, there's my old pal Fredo. Mikey and Kay didn't have much trouble with him, his Normal types being worthless against Fighting moves.
Took out the rest of Nugget Bridge and the Rocket (hey buddy, you work for ME!) without much trouble.
Got my SS Anne ticket. The Youngster on Route 25 gave my poison bunnies some trouble with his Slowpoke's Confusion, but Mikey beat him in the end.

Took out Misty with some difficulty. lv. 25 Mikey beat Staryu but had trouble with Starmie, who kept upping its defense. Mikey finally fainted to a Water Gun, leaving lv. 23 Kay to come in for the kill.
Got my badge, fought another Rocket for the stolen Dig TM. Made my way to Vermillion.
Now for the hazardous task of trying to catch Digletts with Poison Pokemon.

Just don't try catching any Dugtrios, that will be slaughter. I'll start this later.

AnjinMiura_PL June 4th, 2010 3:06 AM

Update number two goes here. Number one is in my last post ;)

Spoiler:

NOOOOO ;( 6500 coins for Porygon ~ 130000...yens?...dollars?...money. Yeah, money. NOOOOO ;( I must still get some. I sold all Potions, most of TMs, geez, I just need a lot of money :D Now I've ~105000, so maybe, maybe, Porygon will be mine soon :D

But first I've took Vermillion City. Without bigger problems, 3rd badge and HM01 was mine. I left this route near Vermillion for next Pokemon from Celadon City. Without flash, potions, with two antidotes and bicycle only (;DDD) I started a goddamned way through da Rock Tunnel. Thunder was pwned at the end, so I finished the Tunnel with Dante only. Fast visit to Lavender PC, then battles with trainers near Rock Tunnel. Now to Celadon, as fast as I can, Porygoon!

But I haven't had needed amount of money. I decided to buy Thunderstone and Leafstone then. Thunderstone turned my Eevee into Jolteon (Volta, kinda electric surname :D), and Leafstone after Lvl. 38 to Dante (Victribell now, cool). Pikachu will get one too, when he learn Thunder as well. I defeated Giovanni in Celadon only, there are a lot of battles to do. Good for me - I need money ^^

http://img121.imageshack.us/img121/9086/tim2u.png

Next update...umm...we'll see ;) I really like this challenge ;D

myrrhman June 4th, 2010 4:14 PM

Oh hey, Koga gets Lapras. I'm in as him. I've got a while to beat Yellow real quick.

Update:
Named myself Koga, and my rival NotKoga
Did beginning stuff until I got Pokeballs.
Caught a Nido M (Titan) and Nido F (Lilith) Levelled Titan to 8.
Ditched Pikachu. I'm probably going to end up ditching Lilith :(
Beat Brock.
Titan evolved into Nidorano on my way to Mt. Moon.
In Mt. Moon, Titan learned Poison Sting and then evolved into a Nidoking. I backtracked for Water Gun then got another Moon Stone, a fossil, and beat Jessie and James.
Went to Bill and got Dig
Got mad when Nidoking wouldn't learn Dig. Now I wish I hadn't evolved him.

Emlam June 4th, 2010 7:27 PM

Don't worry, he'll be able to learn Earthquake once you get to Silph. :P
It bugged me that I missed out on Kay's Body Slam by not evolving her before lv. 23 though. :(

Alright, updates.
Spoiler:
Caught a few Digletts (easier after the first one, since you can use one Diglett to catch more), kept the one with the stats I liked and named him Hagen. No bloody Dugtrio massacres in the Tunnel.
Hagen was lv. 18, and a Diglett without Dig is dangerously weak, so I got him up one level before boarding the SS Anne, then ramped him up to level 26, getting me a Dugtrio.
Got CUT - caught another Diglett to use as a CUT slave since nothing else in the immediate vicinity could learn CUT.

As expected with a Ground trainer fresh out of a cave full of Diglett, the only difficulty with the Electric gym was digging through trash to get the doors opened (why trash cans?)
Raichu took one Dig. Didn't even have the Speed advantage against Hagen.

Went back up to fight my way to the Rock Tunnel. I've literally forgotten where you obtain Flash, it's been so long since I used it. Felt my way through the dark, Double Kicking any Rock types that got in my way and Digging under the rest.
Came out on the other side, beat up a few more trainers and made it into the creepy little town of Lavender.
Healed, skipped off to Celadon to get Ice Beam for Kay and a Silph Scope for the ghosts.
Beat the Grass gym with Kay's Ice Beam and Hagen's Dig. Still can't fathom why Erika's strongest Pokemon is a lv. 30-something Gloom.
Returned to Lavender, beat Fredo again, caught some Gastly, kept the best and named him Sonny.
Taught Sonny Thunderbolt so I could take out the fishermen on the docks south of Lavender and level him up.
Back to the tower now to subdue the Channelers and get a flute.

Team:
Hagen
Dugtrio
lv. 35
Attacks: Dig, Growl, Slash, Sand Attack

Mikey
Nidorino
lv. 36
Attacks: Horn Attack, Leer, Fury Attack, Double Kick

Kay
Nidorina
lv. 33
Attacks: Scratch, Tail Whip, Ice Beam, Double Kick

Sonny
Haunter
lv. 25
Attacks: Lick, Confuse Ray, Night Shade, Thunderbolt

myrrhman June 5th, 2010 9:48 AM

well crap, aparently i didn't post the next big update.

I skipped Lt. Surge for the time being, and Erika, and the Rocket Game Corner, using a Pokedoll instead in the Lavendar tower. But I did do Silph, and Beat NotKoga on I think the fifth try, read "when Titan could outspeed Kadabra" Then I got my Lapras (Poseidon) who will really be the one that I use. I immediately taught it Ice Beam and Psychic, and Nidoking learned Rock Slide. Also Poseidon magically grew to level 19 with Rare Candies. I then got Earthquake and my Masterball and beat Erika's gym, trying to use Poseidon as much as possible (it fainted i think in 2 of the battles, and Erika was one of them). I then easily swept Lt. Surge with Lapras, beat the Fighting Dojo, and went on to Sabrina. I beat all the trainers and took my time suiciding myself against her and eventually won. Then I went to Fuschia, beating the trainers on the way. Lapras is getting pretty strong. I beat my own gym, including some poser thinking he was me, and got Strength (Titan) and Surf (Poseidon), completing my final movesets. I then hopped over and almost used the master ball on a venonat, but then I eventually ran into Venomoth. Master balled it and named it NEGOTIATOR. Onward to Blaine! I surfed down to the Island, got the secret key, and escape roped out of there. Only problem is that I went to Fuschia, and I don't have fly. So I had to go back. I considered healing in Viridian City and escape roping from the gym to there, but I didn't have another escape rope, so I was out of luck.
Giovanni took two tries, I didn't think right, and let Poseidon die to Persian, instead of one hitting it with Nidoking. Then he died to Rhydon, which Lapras could have one hit. Second try was much better.
One hit NotKoga's entire team other than Flareon.
Went through victory road.

Elite four took a while
Beat loreli on my first try.
Beat Bruno on my fourth try
Agatha took about four tries as well. Lapras and Nidoking fainted, so I was calling it a loss, but then Venomoth somehow beat the Gengar that was twice its level.
The revived Poseidon then one hit lance's entire team.
And then I beat NotKoga. Battle went like: Sandslash OHKO w/ Surf, Alakazam kinesis ice beam kinesis thunderbolt, Exeggutor Ice Beam leech seed ice beam, magneton switch earthquake, cloyster thunderbolt spikecannon thunderbolt, flareon earthquake.

And that's a rap!
Final team:
Poseidon the level 56 Lapras
Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Surf, Psychic
Titan the level 51 Nidoking
Earthquake, Double Kick, Rock Slide, Strength

and Venomoth, Nidoran F, and Oddish the HM slave.

Ramsie June 5th, 2010 10:30 AM

I suppose it's about time for an update.
Excerpt from The Kanto Diaries
Spoiler:
Started game and chose Charmander. Delivered parcel and raised charmander to level nine so it would learn Ember. Took on Gary on Route 22 and won with the help of potions. Caught weedle in viridian forest and traded it for metapod. Leveled Metapod a little then traded it back to Yellow. Currently in Pewter City about to take on brock with level thirteen Charmander. Suprisingly, Charmander had little to no difficulty taking out Brock’s team. Went through Route 3, fighting minimal trainers to save some for my next Pokémon, which should be caught shortly. After what seemingly was a never ending chain of Zubats, I finally caught the next member of my team, Clefairy. Healed her at the Pokemon center and taught her Water Gun. Had an epic battle of the level fourteen Clefairy versus the level fourteen Clefairy. The level fourteen Clefairy pulled through. I also caught a Paras for good measure Thinking I’ll raise it and use it as an HM slave/ spore abuser. 100% sleeping move will come in handy, methinks. Found a moon stone in Mt. Moon for use later. Finally let Charmander evolve after beating the level sixteen Raticate.
Current Team:
Paras Lv.12
Clefairy Lv.17
Charmeleon Lv.20

Emlam June 5th, 2010 2:08 PM

Heigh-ho, let's go.
Spoiler:
Taught Kay some more moves. Whupped the Channelers and Team Rocket (why do they only have three Pokemon between the two of them? Amateurs). Got my Flute from the deluded old man and got both Snorlaxes out of the way with Mikey.
Wandered around in the Safari Zone for a while, picking up Items and Pokemon.
Caught a Rhyhorn on my second trip. Named him Vito. Missed five Tauros (three of those were IN A ROW), decided I'd rather have one of the abundant Kangaskhan as my sixth Pokemon instead. Caught a couple, tossed the weaker and named the remaining on Luca.
Went back to Route 25 for a Krabby, named him HM and taught him CUT/SURF/STRENGTH. Caught a Spearow, named it FLY, taught it FLY. Realized HM wouldn't be a very good slave because I was missing the badge that let me SURF. Set him aside for later.
Taught Vito how to Dig, since Horn Attack is pretty weak. Brought him up a few levels by beating up ghosts in the Tower.
Took on Silph in all its glory, with Vito up front to gain exp. and Luca bringing up the rear, ready to take out the little junk with Bite so the big-hitters didn't waste PP.
Rockets everywhere, all laughably weak against Ground types (except the 'Bats, Rats and Drowzees, who got Bit, and the Machokes, whose dreams Sonny found to be delicious).
Ran into Fredo on my way out. Judging by the cocky speech, the swarms of Rocket and the masses of terrified employees, Fredo had turned a blind eye to the hostile takeover of Silph and was only interested in bragging it up and getting out of the building untouched. In fact, while several Rockets seem to recognize me from my reputation, none have ever mentioned my rival. Could he be working with them? Is this the secret to his surprising and seemingly unwarranted success thus far? I can't say I'd put it past him.
Fredo, you break my heart.
I had no choice but to defeat him swiftly and totally.
Made it through the rest of Silph, beat my doppelganger (very curious, he has all the same Pokemon as me but at lower levels) and didn't bother collecting Masterball (just more space taken up in my backpack), then biked to Fuchsia to take out all those weird Jugglers in Koga's gym with Luca. Why so many Psychic Pokemon in a Poison gym anyhow? And so many Poison types in the Psychic gym? Wouldn't a "marsh" badge be more appropriate for a Poison gym? Are Koga and Sabrina twins separated at birth or something?
...Anyhow.

Went back to Lavender to get Vito and Hagen up to lv. 45. Vito evolved, of course.

Took out the gnats easily enough with 'don Vito, though one pesky little bug kept putting him to sleep. Venomoth hit me with a massive Mega Drain that would've taken me out if it had come from a Grass type - as it was, I had about 10 HP left, and finished her off with Stomp.
Off to Saffron to beat Sabrina and Karate Master. I don't know why I'm doing this in such a roundabout way.

Team:

Vito
Rhydon
lv. 46
Dig, Horn Attack, Stomp, Tail Whip

Luca
Kangaskhan
lv. 35
Body Slam, Tail Whip, Comet Punch, Bite

Kay
Nidorina
lv. 39
Ice Beam, Double Team, Bite, Rest

Mikey
Nidorino
lv. 39
Horn Attack, Leer, Fury Attack, Double Kick

Hagen
Dugtrio
lv. 45
Dig, Growl, Slash, Sand-Attack

Sonny
Haunter
lv. 43
Thunderbolt, Hypnosis, Night Shade, Dream Eater

Thus ends another unnecessarily-long update.

Roaring Moon June 5th, 2010 3:08 PM

I guess I'll use Sabrina.

AnjinMiura_PL June 6th, 2010 10:36 AM

Number three ;) I really like my team :D

Spoiler:

When I solved Silph Co. problem in Celadon Game Center, and in Ghost Tower, I've had much money. Finally! Hello, can I have this Porygon? Waaaaha :D I've lost about 130000 cash for this, and I had about 6000 in my wallet after this deal. Anyway, I always wanted to have Porygon, and now it's mine ;) Since it's computer-designed Pokemon, or sth like that, I named him Macintosh :D And first of all, I learn it Psychic ubermove. Porygon had 18th level - geez. I trained Macintosh at Ghost Tower, finally he learnt Psybeam, everything went well, after busting out Erika and Bikers, Macintosh was at the same level as rest of team.

But I wanted Poliwrath too. With good rod, I've found 10lvl Poliwag. Steven (new name, fool) had some training at Digletts Cave, bubbling every Diglett (or Dugtrio :D Hypnosis then ;D). At 33lvl, I've given to Steven the Poliwhirl Water Stone. I do not care about Hydro Pump - now it's Steven the Poliwrath ;D

I've also found that grass with three Bird Keepers is very good for training. That is where most of my Pkmnz gained 40lvls. And I still have route from Lavender to Fuchsia to train. And Silph. Co...yeah, a lot of places, and I didn't expect any new team members - maybe Magneton, but...I must think about that. I've also Thunderstone for Thunder, so...;)

http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/8996/timi.png

Now I'm before battle with Koga, so next update...oh, we'll see again ;)

Emlam June 6th, 2010 11:05 AM

Aw, Porygon's a cutie - I'd never seen the sprite for it before.

Emlam June 7th, 2010 12:06 PM

Here we go again.

Spoiler:
Beat Karate Master with Sonny, taking exactly 0 points of damage due to his immunity to Physical attacks. Sonny also took out the Psychics and their Slowbros, while Vito and Hagen took turns Digging under the ghosts.
As usual, Slash Slash Slash for Sabrina's three. 'Kazam took a few extra hits because of Recover and Kinesis, but he forgot to use any damaging attacks and was subsequently defeated without difficulty.
Ran through Seafoam without bothering to say hi to Artie - I'll beat him up later if I need exp. Leveled up Luca a bit. Sonny took care of all the Swimmers with Thunderbolt and his shiny new Mega Drain.
Taught Vito Rock Slide, did some more leveling in the Mansion, found Blizzard, taught it to Mikey. Evolved Kay and Mikey at lv. 40. Taught Mikey Earthquake and replaced Kay's sole remaining Physical attack with Surf, since switching in HM slaves is a pain and her Special is more helpful than her Attack in this team anyway.
Blaine was a breeze with two Diggers and two Earthquakers. Vito took out the weirdos by the quiz ... vending machine ... speaker ... things, Hagen OHKO'ed each of Blaine's team with Earthquake. Only Ninetales managed to get a hit in with Quick Attack - even Rapidash is too slow for the 'Trio.
That done, I skipped over to the Power Plant to get Thunder, detonate some Voltorbs with Mikey, and OHKO Zapdos with Vito just because I can. :P
Taught Thunder to Mikey - he'll be a solid backup fighter if Sonny or Hagen faint or run out of PP.

The Family:

Luca
Kangaskhan
lv. 42
Body Slam, Tail Whip, Mega Punch, Bite

Mikey
Nidoking
lv. 45
Earthquake, Blizzard, Thunder, Double Kick

Kay
Nidoqueen
lv. 42
Ice Beam, Surf, Double Team, Rest

Hagen
Dugtrio
lv. 50
Earthquake, Dig, Sand-Attack, Slash

Vito
Rhydon
lv. 50
Dig, Rock Slide, Stomp, Tail Whip

Sonny
Haunter
lv. 50
Thunderbolt, Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Mega Drain

Now it's time to take care of this unwise impostor who believes he can run a gym under my name.

Emlam June 8th, 2010 2:30 PM

I challenged the so-called "Giovanni."
My bravado got the best of me, and I insisted on facing his Pokemon with my own of the same species, regardless of level. Kay was poorly-trained and fell after one attack, but Mikey swiftly avenged her. The impostor tried to intimidate my Poison and Rock types with a barrage of Earthquakes, but in the end Mikey made him an offer he couldn't refuse. The Viridian Gym is now without a leader - perhaps I'll return to fill the position once I've defeated the Elite Four and captured this Mewtwo I keep hearing about.

I traveled Victory Road without catching the eye of a single trainer - I preferred to increase my Pokemon's levels by battling wild Pokemon first.

Luca has brute strength, but I taught him Bubblebeam to make him a little more useful against Rock and Ground types on Victory Road. We then proceeded to face and defeat the trainers we had avoided.

Five trainers now stand between us and world domination. ;)

The Family:

Sonny
Haunter
lv. 53
Thunderbolt, Mega Drain, Hypnosis, Dream Eater

Luca
Kangaskhan
lv. 48
Body Slam, Bubblebeam, Leer, Hyper Beam

Mikey
Nidoking
lv. 51
Thunder, Blizzard, Double Kick, Earthquake

Kay
Nidoqueen
lv. 50
Ice Beam, Surf, Double Team, Rest

Vito
Rhydon
lv. 51
Dig, Strength, Rock Slide, Tail Whip

Hagen
Dugtrio
lv. 52
Earthquake, Slash, Fissure, Sand-Attack

E4
Spoiler:

Lorelei wasn't much trouble. Dewgong and Lapras each fell asleep and took a hit and a half (1 Thunderbolt, 1 Mega Drain) from Sonny, Cloyster and Slowbro took one, Jynx took a few hits from Mikey but hurt him badly.
Healed.
Bruno's Onix couldn't even handle one Bubblebeam from a Kangaskhan. Remind me why Giovanni even bothers having that Pokemon on his list, and how Brock managed to become a gym leader at all?
Fighters were simple, Hypnosis/Dream Eater for all three.
Second Onix took a Mega Drain.

Agatha's always a breeze with a Dugtrio, since the only thing the Ghosts have on Earthquake is a speed advantage over most ground types. Golbat took an Ice Beam.

Lance was a little annoying this time around. Gyarados took one Thunderbolt, Dragonairs took a couple Body Slams each from Luca. Blizzard for Aerodactyl. Dragonite KO'ed a few of my boys but Kay managed to stall until I brought them back. Ice Beam and Blizzard finished it.

Fredo was ... Fredo. Sandslash had a nasty Earthquake for my Poison types, but my Poison types retaliated by icing Sandslash. Alakazam took two hits from Hagen, as usual, without dealing any damage. Magneton was an easy KO with Earthquake. Exeggutor caused grief due to a poor attack choice, and Kay got hurt. Once he was out of the way though, Cloyster took only a Thunderbolt and Gary's starter (Flareon, since I forgot about that second battle) got to face the wrath of my signature Pokemon. The 'Don beat Flareon easily with Dig.
Oak rambled some nonsense about treating your Pokemon with love.

And that was so fun, I did it all over again.
Better strategy and slightly-higher levels than before made it a breeze. Thunderbolts for Lorelei, didn't bother with Hypnosis. Hyper Beam to OHKO Jynx (after taking a hit from Ice Punch). Healed Luca. Bubblebeam for both Onixes, Dream Eater for the fighters. Earthquake for the Ghosts and Arbok, Rock Slide from Vito for the Golbat. Thunderbolt for Gyarados, Hyper Beam for both Dragonairs (second one took Hyper Beam/Bite), then Kay got to show off her moveset against 'Dactyl. Double Team once, took a Hyper Beam all the way down to 14 HP, Rested it off while 'Dactyl recharged, woke up with the Pokeflute, Double Team, dodged a Hyper Beam, Ice Beam. Dragonite didn't come close to hitting her, and Ice Beam froze it solid. Switched Luca in to slowly Bite it down for the extra exp. Healed Luca. Sonny put 'Slash to sleep then drained it dry. Hagen took out Alakazam and Magneton. Mikey took Exeggutor (Blizzard, Earthquake) with only some minor Leech Seed damage, Sonny took Cloyster, Vito took Flareon.
All in all, two Full Restores and a Pokeflute used. All Pokemon at full health or within 20 HP of it by the end. No faints.
Not a bad team, all things considered.

Okai, I'm back to the challenges after some rest and first World Cup matches (South Korea-Greece will be at the moment ;D).
Spoiler:

So, I was near the Koga's Gym. But I've taken this long route beetwen Lavender and Fuchsia. It was big pwntime, as in every game. Then, decided to finally knock down Ninjas and Koga. Saffron problems as always at the end. Levels went way up, Giovanni passed to me, Master Ball achieved...but I do not really need them. Some trainers are able to catch Moltres (Blane, Giovanni), why Lt.Surge cannot catch Zapdos? :( Anyway this ball will be for a Magnemite, which I want to catch :D Anyway, Sabrina was next target, Steven eliminated all her fallaz, good for me. Now to Fuchsia, to clean the south water route (good for electric Pkmnz and Dante, they advanced really well here). I've entered the Seaform Islands...
...****, I've lost! xD I've looked for the exit for ages xD I even managed to knock Articuno down. I've wasted some time, but levels were up too. Found way to espace this place and attacked the Cinnabar Island. Finished Mansion quick, and I was attacked by wild Magmar - it was my first time, I was dissapointed a little ;) Steven destroyed whole Cinnabar Gym, now I'm near the Giovanni's door, next update after last training before Elite Four ;)

Okay, my pre-final update ;)
What 'bout you, guys? :D

Spoiler:

Back at Virdian...oww, I remmember, when I was here first time. I've got an Oak Parcel and no idea what to do. Now I'm back with tha powerful team, back for eight badge. Nobody survived Ober's comeback. Giovanni decided to escape to his secret place in Romania after our battle. Pedro ran away screaming after our battle. Victory Road was piece of cake, I've lost maybe one Full Heal and Hyper Potion ;) But after that, The Last Grind. It's new tradition for me I guess - ubergrinding to 60 lvls before E4 ;)

So, I've done that. Macintosh and Steven advanced to 60th. Dante, Thunder and Volta trained at Seaform Islands - but I haven't any mood to train them to full 60th. With eight Rare Candies, they advanced to 59th lvls, and I hope that I can smash E4 with this and succesfully finish challenge ;)

Edit:
Okay, I'm finished :D I've my battles recorded - not too good quality, but they are, so ;)
But I'm not feel this "something" which makes me want to play - it was just very strong team, bulided to gain some power and end challenge, not to do something cool. I like my bugs and grass teams from challenges more than this...but it was fine challenge, I agree ;) I just think, that monotype challenges are funnier than Gym Leader, just because that you have only one type of Pokemons, and it's harder. But I'd really like to do some Gym Leader Challenge again ;)

About battles? No, because I haven't had any faint during the E4, I've used only one Elixer, one Ether, and one Hyper Potion. E4 was so easy :) So there is nothing to talk about. If somebody wants to see it, tell me, I'll upload it somewhere ;)

And last screen to prove my victory ;D

http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/3660/hofo.png

Okay, I'm finished with this challenge now. Thank you ladies and gentlemans, good bye and have a good night ;)

Edit2: Now I'm really done with this ;D

With Ultra Ball ;)

The End.

Wow this looks fun. I'm actually Re-Playing through Red right now. I'll give this a go sooner or later. Very soon though.

Okay I've decided on this challenge. This is my team so far.
Bulbasaur lvl 8
Pidgey lvl 9
Rattata lvl 3
Nidoran Boy (Accidentally named it "a") lvl 3
Pikachu lvl 3
Weedle lvl 4

Journal:
*Im beating Brock just by using Leech Seed... surprisingly. It's taking a while.
*Okay I got BoulderBadge. Wow that battle took a while. I'm surprised I beat it on the first try. Pidgey is now lvl 10. Bulbasaur (By the way his nickname is Benjamin.) is lvl 9.
* After some more training, I'll go through Mount Moon.
Until my next status report....the adventure continues.....
