Mononoke Hime Source: Anime News Network The May 26th episode of TV Asahi's popular "Kore ga Nihon no Best 100" (These Are Japan's Best 100) program compiled viewer votes to determine the top 100 anime ever. Classics overwhelmingly dominate the list, with the only 4 TV titles titles and 2 movies from within the past 5 years making it onto the list: King of Games Yu-Gi-Oh from 1998, the currently on-air Ojamajo Doremi Dokkan (Ojamajo Doremi season 4), Pocket Monster (currently broadcasting new episodes), and Tottoko Hamutaro represent current and recent TV anime and Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away represent recent theatrical anime. Also interesting is the fact that Hanna-Barbera's American Tom & Jerry cartoon from 1975 made it onto the list at #39. (While in America the term "anime" refers exclusively to Japanese animation, in Japan the word "anime" refers animation of any style or origin.) The complete list is as follows: 1. Doraemon 2. Young Kindaichi's Casebook I'm really glad with the way the second list turned out,Hakujaden was the one that I had forgotten about, the one that got me into Japanese animation, lol. SO the second and third list seem to represent what should be remembered, and what are truely the most important anime, while the first one is what today's viewers are counting as great...interesting...but enough of my ramblings ... |
