The iPhone 4 Thread: HTCers gonna hate edition(Zet title invasion)
Hello all. I plan on reserving my iPhone 4 on Tuesday, June 15th. But before I get there. I would like to know what is needed. So I will know ahead of time and the process will be easier. I assume it will be the same as the 3G and the 3GS but I don't recall what you needed for those. So what do you need to reserve it?

An invitation from Steve Jobs
not really, just lots and lots of money. But I love how Windows is opening up a shop on the release date of the iphone 4 |
Actually, if you're planning on reserving the iPhone, you don't need any money (or even a credit card) at all since all you're doing is reserving the phone at a local Apple store, which is where you'll make the transaction. I believe all you need is your email address (Apple ID), and where you'd like to pick it up at as well as a telephone number, if I remember correctly. When you go to pick it up, you need some form of identification, though. I could be wrong, however, because I'm trying to remember off the top of my head what I did when the iPhone 3GS came around. If you plan on pre-ordering it, however, things would likely be different since I believe they ship that directly to you from where they're made and a valid credit card will be required.

I hope you pre-ordered it because AT&T has already sold out on pre-orders, and their system is failure since whenever someone logins in to check their order they will be taken to another person's account and you can see all their private information.

I successfully Preordered my iPhone 4!

Preordering iPhone 4: Your experience?
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past week. Odds are you know about the debacle that was preordering an iPhone 4. So I want to know what your experience was. How long did it take. What did you try. Did you have any account mixups?
Here is my experience: I was originally going to pick it up at the Apple Store in Marlton, NJ. So I got home from school at around 11:15 and the first thing I did was grab my MB Pro and went over to Apple's website. I made it to the point where it asks you for your AT&T Account Information. So I put my information in. Then I was greeted with the Time Out error. This same thing happened to me about 10 times before it went through... When it went through it told me that my AT&T Bill was one day overdue (which it was) we tried paying the bill 2 days earlier but the AT&T site has been down for maintenance so that wasn't happening. So I went to pay it on AT&T's website. It took me about an hour to get through and be able to pay the bill. I wasn't able to successfully pay it until around 12:45 PM. Then I went to the Apple site again and I was trying for around another hour or so to get the iPhone Preordered there. Still no luck. So I headed over to AT&T's website to try and order it there. It took a bit of time to get it. But I had successfully ordered by 2:45 PM. So I (hopefully) will be receiving my iPhone 4 on June 24th. |

Anyway, I preordered mine around 8 am EST when the AT&T website was actually working. Right about the time I got done the websites all started going haywire. |

Seriously? You made another thread for pre-ordering the iphone? I think one thread is good enough.

I just got an e-mail that mine is coming in tomorrow morning, a day before the actual release.

I read a news article a few hours ago about AT&T releasing the iPhone to select customers early.
|
I read that Apple and AT&T backstabbed a select amount of people by removing their pre-order.

lol. A company removing a pre-order for no good reason... |
It's true, and apparently Apple/ATT aren't giving any reasons for it either.
|
Hur hur! Bad business move on their part. Something tells me, only dedicated fans who got their orders canceled will bother to stick around with that kind of service, which could cost them both thousands. In the end, it'll affect AT&T more, imo, since there's monthly payments on that. This could also just be a case of supply and demand, though. Too high of a demand, and too low of a supply. Considering it was the largest pre-ordering of all time for cellphones. But even so, they need to get movin' faster!

My iPhone is due for Delivery tomorrow

And the people who lost their order, their credit card won't be charged on release day, but if they hate it that much they can always go to the Windows store that is opening on the same day. |
Got mine in this morning and I have to say I'm really happy with it. The improved quality of the screen is what stands out to me the most, it's so vibrant. I really wish I could find a decent case, but since the phone isn't officially on sale yet the ATT around here doesn't have any.

So looks like Apple hates left handed people with the iphone 4's reception dropping just by holding it in your left hand. Apple also claims it's your fault and not the phone/Apple's fault.

I saw the iPhone 4 on display at AT&T. The camera resolution is rather disappointing (back 5 MP and front VGA vs Evo's 1.3 MP front and 8 MP back) and no flash support. And the pre-release "iPhone 4G" hype ended up being disappointed as well.
What I do like about it? It's more compact I guess. It also tops the Evo as far as battery life is concerned. The biggest disappointment is not the phone itself, rather AT&T. They stopped offering unlimited data with their smartphone plans (highest is 2 GB). I used to own an iPhone 3G awhile back and I actually did consider getting this new iPhone but AT&T's switcheroo ruined that. The hanset itself looks sleek even I, an HTC fangirl, was impressed but until AT&T changes their plans or another carrier with unlimited data gets the iPhone it's a no. I'm actually considering doing a YouTube comparison if my uncle gets the iPhone 4 and compare it with my Evo. While the large screen makes for nice videos I'll admit it's a bit of pain carrying that huge thing around. The 3G on AT&T is faster than on Sprint so that's a plus. Of course the 4G/WiMax is faster than both but that's only avaliable at home and not when I'm away at school which is where I will be 8 months out of the year. Who owns an iPhone 4 yet? My main question is how fast is the web? I couldn't test it alot with the store model since there was a line to play with it. I really want to compare the web speeds between iPhone 4 and HTC Evo when on 4G/WiMax. |
I really think Jobs and Apple should have fixed this before releasing it into the world.
