good move set for mewtwo?

what should i add/replace?
mewtwo lvl [email protected] coin or moomoo milk
flamethrower
solarbeam
psychic
ice beam

should i replace psychic with shadow ball?

HellishHades November 12th, 2004 12:08 PM

Mewtwo @ Lum Berry
Nature: + Spd - PhAt
EVs: 252 SpAt / 252 Spd / 6 HP
Psychic
Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Flamethrower
Calm Mind
Recover

You may want to dump Psychic for Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, but then you lose STAB.

Mullet November 12th, 2004 6:21 PM

[email protected] Berry
Nature:+Sp. attack,-Attack
EVs:Sp. attack, and maybe speed
T-bolt
Ice Beam
Psychic
Recover

With a Sp. attack boosting nature, Evs in it this will make Mewtwo very powerful and you've got Recover to back you up!
:D

Frostweaver November 12th, 2004 6:45 PM

besides taking a different nature of speed + / attack -, Mullet's moveset is pretty good (general rule: anything with base 100 and above, take speed + nature, unless you can be faster than 374 without it). Mewtwo can also take calm mind instead of one of those offensive moves.

I think he is strong enough in special attack, and he is pretty fast already. so I think either nature would work. :\

Rubberbandman November 12th, 2004 7:19 PM

I would dump Ice beam,it has nice damage but low Power Points

Well, with that and bolt it makes him a Boltbeamer which dooms almost anything! :D

Rubberbandman November 12th, 2004 7:49 PM

execpt fire!then houndoom can crunch and take out mewtwo in a few turns depending on the EV values and nature...

Mullet November 12th, 2004 7:53 PM

Houndoom is under used really, Mewtwo is and uber and I'm pretty Mewtwo can handle him!

Toothache November 12th, 2004 7:55 PM

It's because of Dark types I like to go physical with Mewtwo:

[email protected]/Salac/Liechi Berry
EV: 252 Att, 252 Speed, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Att, - Def
Brick Break
Psychic/Earthquake/Rock Slide
Shadow Ball
Earthquake/Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Calm Mind

CM is more to fake people out into thinking Mewtwo is a special sweeper, then use your physical moves to let rip.

Last thing Mewtwo wants on earth: running into a Dugtrio and you realized that you're slower than it

Edit: Houndoom is at least BL... it's one of the most versatile and fastest special attacker besides Uber. It's Alakazam, Sceptile, Starmie and then it's Houndoom in terms of common fast special sweeper... The fact that Houndoom destroys any chlorophyll abuser is the reason why it's used.

Mullet November 12th, 2004 8:04 PM

What is BL again?

Even to trick them I think it's a waste of a move slot.

Frosty, that's why you can use at least some Evs in speed, and even then Dugtrio is still very fast and you might still be slower than it either way!

BL is borderline, where it's in the in-between realms of overused and underused. I'll say that Houndoom is OU though. Its ability to crush Alakazam/Gardevoir/any chlorophyll users make it a valuable member for a team.

Mewtwo has the exact same speed as Jolteon, Aerodactyl and Crobat, being the 4th and final member with base speed 130. Swellow follows at 125, and Dugtrio is down at 120 with Sceptile and Alakazam. As long as Mewtwo also have a speed + nature with MAX speed EV, you're faster than Dugtrio. The speed hiearchy should be memorized by now Mullet...

Mullet November 12th, 2004 8:13 PM

I can't memorize like that, where do I find the info to memorize.

I have to memorize this and learn a forgin language too, this sucks!

Frostweaver November 12th, 2004 8:29 PM

LOL... welcome to a world where you must sacrifice in order to be an expert at something ;p

2 methods:
a) go to serebii.net's pokedex, and order all the Pokemon by speed.

b) use netbattle's pokedex, and search up hidden power... order all the Pokemon by speed by pressing the little tab for the speed category. (and to look for stuff such as "fastest spore user" for example, do the same thing but just replace hidden power by the attack you want)

Demonion November 13th, 2004 12:45 AM

or you can go to www.tvsian.com/netbattle, in their forums there is something called a speed topic

Ash_Pokemaster November 13th, 2004 3:57 AM

My Mewtwo:
Level 100
Attacks: Psychic, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Thunder!
Item: Spell Tag

He is realy powerfull!

Toothache November 13th, 2004 4:16 AM

Lots of common mistakes with this one:
First of all, what's your EVs?

Second, Mewtwo here has nothing to cover his weaknesses.

Third, you have lots of high damage, low accuracy moves. Fire Blast and definately Thunder are way too unreliable on their own. There are Pokemon where these moves are definately useful and this is not one of them. Drop Fire Blast for Flamethrower, and Thunder for Thunderbolt - it's not like Mewtwo's Special Attack is low enough for you to worry about.

Fourth: Why give it a Spell Tag when you have no Ghost moves? Get rid of that for a Lum Berry.

not with spell tag and no physicals, put on something more like this:
Mewtwo
Item:Lum berry(to keep off opponents condition change)
Nature: +speed -sp.def.
EV:+ speed
Attacks:
Psychic(PP up)
Recover
Brick Break/Earthquake(pp up for earthquake)
tunderbolt/Ice beam(PP up for Ice beam)

Spike Razzor November 13th, 2004 8:21 AM

Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Nature: + Sp. Atk - Atk (or Sp. Def if your gonna use a physical attack)
EVs: 252 SpAt / 252 Spd / 6 HP
Psychic
Thunderbolt / Ice Beam / Flamethrower / Physical Attack
Substitute
Recover

Mana Lugia November 13th, 2004 8:42 AM

Did you know Mewtwo can subpunch liek wut :X

That would just limit its movepool, so I'm gonna have to dissagree with that idea...

Mana Lugia November 13th, 2004 4:26 PM

Well, you're giving it Sub as it is, so why not?

It's not like Blissey doesn't say hi to your mewtwo already =/

Ice demon November 15th, 2004 6:05 PM

Mewtwo[something]
EVs - Sp, Att, SpAtt
calm mind/focus punch
recover/substitute
psychic
thunderbolt/ice beam/recover

Blissey and lax would eat u without focus punch so............

lord_of_d November 17th, 2004 2:39 AM

a good move set for mew2 is

psyhic
calm mind
recover
barrier

i chose psyhic as mew2 gain STAB(same type atribute bonous) form it with mew 2 high special stats, it makes mew2 a forbidable special sweeper calm mind in case sum1 uses menmoto barrier as defence is obviously mew2 weakest stats. recover is something which i do not need to explain

prefered item attached
petaya berries

mew2 would have a greater need of boosted sp attack to defeat it's opponent when it is low
