The Coffin-like poke looks pretty cool. I still love the electric zebra one though :D

Evolution of Spiritomb? I hope so.

It's actually shown a lot of evidence to be related to Bronzor/Bronzong O_O

Well there is some evidence that its related to spiritomb as well, you see spiritomb has a sign on its keystone:) It has shadows and its attached to some type of Tomb, like Spiritomb is

The Axe Bug pokemon looks like a Scyther/Scizor Evolution.
The coffin pokemon Is just possibly a new pokemon that does not have anything to do with the older pokemon. Put it to rest people.
The unamed pokemon to the far right on the picture beside the weird Heatran/Nosepass/Metagross thing looks like a buneary evolution.

The Pokemon Company is running out of ideas...

Um...I've heard alot of people make this claim but this is one of the worst...I mean does every Pokemon have to look like a combination of Pokemon. And calling the Axe bug a Scizor evolution and the Puppet Pokemon a Buneary evolution is pushing it...REALLY pushing it.
I only take exception to this because of that is your reasoning for GameFreak running out of ideas then...erm...yeah...

That's not a symbol, that's a crack in the tombstone. And also, the symbol shows a LOT more similarities to Bronzor than Spiritomb.

wait how? What evidence supports the relation to those two?

It was earlier in the thread. The back symbol is similar, and the names are also similar...Kind of like an evolution...

Ravecat June 29th, 2010 9:51 PM

It's not evidence it's speculation.

BeachBoy June 29th, 2010 9:56 PM

Thanks for the directions, Sargeant. I saw zero connection before I looked at the speculation, but now that I've seen it, it is pretty compelling. o_O Interesting theory, at least. Can't wait to see how that turns out.

Yeah that's what I meant. Thanks for the correction. -_-'''

The thing about this Bronzor > Desukaan thing is that even though it seems to make sense based on the symbols, Egyptian sarcophagi were usually made of stone or solid gold, not bronze, like bronze mirrors / dotaku. Then again, though, bronze mirrors also existed in Egypt -- though, to counterbalance that fact, they weren't especially remarkable -- definitely not something nearly comparable to something like the sacred sarcophagi.

To be honest, I'm not buying it. Again, it's just speculation, so there's no telling until the actual game comes out.

Incidentally, wouldn't it be funny if they added that Pokemon just because the Metropolitan Museum of Art, which houses many Egyptian relics, is in New York (which many believe Isshu is based on)? I mean they're adding pigeons, and we have a lot of those here too!

Myles June 29th, 2010 10:42 PM

How is the Bronzor/Bronzong-Desukaan evidence convincing? That symbol is largely different, the names are nothing like each other (the person who posted that messed up both Bronzor and Bronzong's names to make them look similar; they also have no similarities in etymology) and there are no other similarities.

Bronzor and Bronzong are related to some myth/traditon/whatever about mirrors and bells and are related to the Distortion World. Desukaan is related to like Egypt.

Bronzor and Bronzong are related to Shintoism a religion practiced in Japan while Desukaan is related to Egyptian Mythology about the dead and all that stuff :)

I'm super excited about new Pokemon to catch. And triple battles will be crazy, but crazy fun.

Thorns June 30th, 2010 11:13 AM

I just want to put it out there I' mthe first person to actually put out the ide aof Bronzor and Bronzong being connected to the Distortion World :)

dragoniteuser June 30th, 2010 11:19 AM

New pokemon... well they suck. Now don't all start jumping at me for this! It's my opinion, I just don't like them... not one. Pretty disapointing!

Haha, I know but that's one wacky idea...almost as crazy as Mew being related to Ditto...

Well the new Pokemon are great in my opinion :)

Kardashian June 30th, 2010 2:03 PM

The Axe Dragon is AMAZING. Plus, a coffin pokemon? That could be cool. I like the gothic thingy too. And the rock thing in the middle of the second pic...looks cool.

Well, sort of. More accurately, Bronzor and Bronzong hail from a specific Japanese myth. The two Pokemon aren't particularly affiliated with the religion itself; in fact, bronze mirrors were quite common for the time.

Look at this image and tell me it looks like a Mantis, I DARE YOU:

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/182/3/c/Ononokusu_by_Xous54.png

Xous54 is well known for making art that resembles that of Sugimori's, so you can just bet that Ononokusu is going to look like this. He in no way resembles a Mantis.

Also I do not think Scyther or Scizor would turn into a heavily armored dinosaur with an Axe coming out of his mouth.

Hibaru July 1st, 2010 10:39 PM

I kinda wondering if that Tarantula Pokemon is the Evolve form of Ariados using Thunder Stone. But We'll see more details anyway.

Seriously, can you just let it go already? People can call the Pokémon whatever they freakin' please. I call the ectoplasmic thing Rotom-2. Is it? NOT AT ALL, but I can still call it that.

TwinkleClefable July 1st, 2010 10:57 PM

I hope they make more Egyptian Pokemon...

The Coffin monster reminds me of a floormaster....maybe because of the hand
The mantis one is a digimon
And i think i just saw Monty mole and Drillmon. Lol

Just don't call it 'looks like it will be an evolution of Rotom'. If you speculate something, expect rebuttal.

It isn't going to happen! Oh, don't get me wrong I would love the reuse of old item, but, if the tarantula is an evo of ariados, they are going to made a newsuperiperelectrizeruseless-thing for that stupid "rule" that old pokemon must evolve in new ways to not create a contradiction in old game (example electrabuzz doesen't evolve with thunder stone because in yellow thunder stone has no effect on it). It's very stupid, and I wouldn't care less if this appens, but Gamefreak is a bit dull sometimes...
