Need help for "Baby" Tournament

Rules:

- You may use 3 Pokemon
- All Pokemon are at Level 5, thus they have no EVs
- All Pokemon used must be obtainable legally (eg no Lvl 5 Rayquaza)
_ All movesets must be legal (eg no Extreme Speed Arcanine)

Kinda special isn't it... I'm giving it a try...

1. [email protected] Herb/Petaya Berry
Intimidate/Flash Fire (Dunno which)
Modest
Crunch
Overheat/Fire Blast
Sunny Day
Substitute/HP Grass
* He is gonna Sweep. And...that's all...

2. [email protected]
Natural Cure
Bold
Seismic Toss
Selfboiled
Aromatherapy
Counter
* Standard moveset but just can't evolve it...

3. [email protected] Band
Keen Eye
Adamant
Aerial Ace
Return/Quick Attack
HP Ground
Steel Wing
* I always liked Pidgeot so...

Ooh, an interesting idea for a change.

Arcanine: Give it Intimidate, Flash Fire isn't gonna help too much here methinks, especially when the majority of L5 Pokemon are limited to physical moves. Otherwise, not bad

Chansey: Chansey gains Softboiled by level, so I'm not sure if that's legal in this instance. Otherwise, it's ye olde standard. I'd rather drop Counter for Toxic or Thunderwave (and since you're only doing 5 HP of damage with Seismic Toss, I'd rather get rid of Chansey altogether, since most Pokemon will take 4 hits to KO, and most of them will have physical moves to use)

Pidgey: Drop HP Ground for HP Fighting, and I think you're limited to Return since Pidgey gains QA by level. Otherwise, it's not like you can do much better

Abra might be fun to use in this, or something with phenomenal stats like Steelix. I might have a go at this myself if I can think of a possible team to use

Toothache, isn't there a Move Tutor who teaches Selfboiled? Then Chansey's Selfboiled is legal. I'm considering Ice Beam on him...

Chansey Inc. November 13th, 2004 4:53 AM

Yeah Chansey has to go....Replace chansey with a Lvl 5 Pikachu

[email protected] Bell
Iron Tail
Thundershock
Mega Punch
Attract

As for pidgey...i'm not sure i'd put him in my team...but he will do

Xilion_Sword90 November 13th, 2004 5:14 AM

Hmmm... Pikachu with Light Ball... Interesting...

[email protected] Ball
Thunderbolt
HP Water
Substitute
Thunder Wave

Yeah... That would let me use a Physical Arcanine...

Demonion November 13th, 2004 5:38 AM

You can replace Arcanine with Starmie if you like just get an Level 5 Staryu and evolve it with waterstone

[email protected]/Petaya Berry
- Surf (HM)
- Thunderbolt (TM)
- Ice Beam (TM)
- Psychic (TM)

or something like that :p, if recover is legal use recover => i thought you could breed attacks that pokemon learn on later levels onto a baby one :/

Is Dragon Rage allowed?
You can breed it down...

Yes, nearly any Lv100 move-set can be transferred to a Lv5 hatched monster if the moves are:

(a) egg moves
(b) level-up moves that the hatched monster could learn
(c) TMs

I don't think that this would apply to Staryu, since you can only breed in with Ditto. Who would be the father to pass down the moves?

I don't think that would be allowed regardless. Otherwise, everyone would have a team of Charmander, Bagon, and Horsea so that they could OHKO nearly everything in sight with Dragon Rage.

Exactly why I wanted to know if it was allowed.
If it was allowed, it would all be a matter of who's faster. Then, people will use quick claw, and hope for lucky hits.

Most trounaments with Lv5 monsters ban Dragon Rage. Stadium 2 did.

Demonion November 13th, 2004 8:40 AM

well, than stick onto the 4 special attacks then :p

Xilion_Sword90 November 13th, 2004 12:35 PM

Sonicboom and Dragon Rage are both banned...

I was also thinking about Rhyhorn:

[email protected] Claw/Choice Band
Rock Slide
Earthquake
HP Ghost
Double-Edge

Your best chance is FAST Pokemon who relies heavily on to TM moves. Pokemon that evolves from trade or stone will be even better because an evolved form share high stats. Starmie, Arcanine/Aerodactyl and Diglett/Steelix (you can trade at lvl 5 =p) would be my choice as they all share terribly high stats at low level. Arcanine is probably the weakest one out of the group though, due to lack of extreme speed which can't be bred onto Growlithe, so I'll probably stick with good old Aerodactyl ;p

However, Jolteon is your worst nightmare... terribly fast, and at this low level, you can't beat it without Chansey (who can learn softboil through breeding and/or tutor.) This means that...

-Starmie
-Aerodactyl
-Chansey

will be my final choice... At this level, Aerodactyl does tank ok for physical. Don't underestimate Abra though, who's already very fast (but just not as fast as Starmie ;p) and over base 100 sp.atk.
