I'd definitely enlarge the head if I were spriting this as a fakemon, and you might want to make the mask more like markings to give it a natural feel. Quote:
Quote:
First, color the outlines (especially at the place where the hair meets the head) and you'll notice a drastic change in the quality of the sprite. I've noticed that from the way you shade, you seem to think a lot about it that it doesn't flow naturally anymore. Relax a little and just shade it the way you think the light source would reflect on it. Quote:

You forgot to mention that I helped you with the shading/outline on pigmite and razoboar ;D
But anyways nice sprites the only one I would worry about is proton. http://i46.*.com/mkvjeu.png Now lets look at the outline on this. First of all its pretty rough, which we don't want we want some smooth lineart so it looks more appealing and not so scratchy. I found a tutorial on lineart that should help you on it. link I would also take away the lines that hold the little atom balls. It seems to get in the way of the sprite and in my opinion it would look much better without it. Lets get on with the shading, You have literally the shading and the lighting literally all over the place. On the upper portion of the body it should have more lighting less shading and on the lower portion more shading and little to no lighting. Remember the sun is always facing in the top left hand corner and if any body parts get in the way of it, there should be shading in the shadow of the body part. Now I like the overall design I just feel its missing arms :/ Otherwise its fairly nice. Anyways some things you might want to work on Haroun otherwise its a fairly decent sprite <: |

Anyway, thought I'd might has well post this. It came third in the MPC, so it must be relatively good. XD http://i47.*.com/avhgm8.png |
Nice work.
http://i48.*.com/zlfa6r.png I like the coloring on this one. Must have took some time to make it. |
I think you could work on the anatomy of the boar-evolution line (maybe use a base of another Pokemon?) as they are lacking, slightly.
The other Fakemon are really nice and I think you should make much more like them. :) |

Furrboi. Not a Pokémon. An enemy for a platforming project I'm doing. Crit appreciated. Pretty simple fur thing. Takes a jump on the head to kill :D. |

Fixed left leg. Fixed the eye shadows highlights. Added some fur things to give a more... furry feel, including a sort of eyebrow covering the top eye. I actually didn't realise the similarities with Tangrowth and Tangela, so he's not related to them in any way. And yeah, the eyes are meant to be looking in slightly different directions. I'm trying out different palettes as we speak, but I don't think they're working tbh. |

http://a.imageshack.us/img697/6383/furrboinew.png Anyway, I've (finally) tried to redo Proton to look slightly better. I might need to revisit the hair, as it doesn't look much like hair atm. http://a.imageshack.us/img837/3969/proton.pnghttp://a.imageshack.us/img826/8197/protonshiny.png |
http://i27.*.com/24ys3dx.png
For the WPC. It's a badly-done Kakunashkan (Generation Four's Kangaskhan x Kakuna). Blame tCoD's random generator. :D |
Quote:
Proton's hair reminds me of NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams. Are you trying to make the hair look like a ponytail shape? |
Quote:
As for Proton, I think the design is mean to be ponytails (or is it pigtails in that style? idek), so yeah. Haha, it does remind me of NiGHTS, actually. :D |
Yes, that's the one. It just short of sticks out and... ugh I don't know.
And oh gosh, I just noticed the red star on Proton's chest! TOTALLY A NiGHTS PRE-EVOLUTION. Also you're right, pigtails. If you want to make it look like pigtails, I'd... uh... well, make the dark part of the head outline come further up the head, to make the 'pigtail' parts look like they're behind the head instead of extending from it. Right now you have some shadows there, but they're not quite enough to make the shape pop. |
I've tried to tweak said plate on Kakunaskhan: http://i32.*.com/29uw1es.png
I've also emphasised the head's outline with Proton, here: http://i28.*.com/33p3mdc.png |
These are pretty unusual, and unique, in a good way.
|
Quote:
Anyway, I've made a few new fusions, because I don't like Kakunaskhan, to be honest. For now, Wobbufloon is my entry. http://i37.*.com/2j289it.png I am also considering Shuckloach and Scizoxys: http://i38.*.com/n33w5c.pnghttp://i35.*.com/qzhpx4.png |
I'm quite fond of Wobbufloon. It's adorable. :3

I like the improvements you made to Kakunaskhan and Proton.
Scizoxys looks amazing, and Wobbuffloon makes my heart melt with cute. |

http://i35.*.com/ndplrs.png Two new fusions alongside the other ones in this thread. |
I saw no noticeable flaws. The Cherubinny is cute too, though the little cherry thing is kind of hard to see.

Critisism on this tile would be greatly appreciated. Suggestions and ideas on how to make the bottom half (i.e. not the roof) more interesting also gladly accepted. :D |
Quote:
Well, one simple idea that comes to me is rounded windows. That would only be a small change in the details, I know. Maybe looking at random pictures of houses, like this, might inspire you. You can find interesting things people have on their walls. Drain pipes, window shutters, water meters, etc. |
Go with a satellite dish.
You don't see those in Pokémon houses everyday. |

Olaf Brave Fighter, harhar! edit http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Pixels/okay.png Okay, so I've decided that I'm rubbish at drawing and shading eyes etc. So here's what I've done so far. Suggestions on how to approach the rest of the piece would be greatly appreciated, along with crit on this current WIP. I've already noticed that the wart is mega-flat and the beard lacks selout. |

And I'm seeing broken photobucket links in your latest post. :( |
Quote:
The pictures are fixed now. They were broken 'cause I did some rearranging on my Photobucket. Mind you, after I had rearranged, it was still showing, but idk. It's fixed now. Also, I tried the curved window idea, and although I've not got a copy of it, it didn't turn out good (or at least, how I tried it). Thanks anyway. :D |
Bumpidy bump bump.
Here's my WIP of Oak's Lab or Project: IsoKanto. http://i56.*.com/25aubdi.png I can't draw iso circles for crap. I need to, though, for the windows. >: Any advice? |
I like how the lab is coming along.
For making the circles you could try making a square (well, a diamond since it's iso) and then start shaving off the corners until you have something that looks like a circle. That's just the first idea that came to me. /don't know much about how to do iso style |
Well, I'm still struggling on the lab, but it seems nobody is really interested in the project.
Anyway, just did a quick animation: http://www.pixeljoint.com/files/icons/full/maggot_thing.gif |

Fifth post without replies. I mean, I knew this place was inactive, but seriously?
Anyway, a new fake, which I will be using so no touchy. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Pyrock.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/PyrockShiny.png Pyrock, the Hot Rock Pokémon Types: Rock/Fire Abilities Magma Armour / Rock Head Pokédex Entry: Their unique, green rocks are sometimes mistaken for emeralds. If provoked, they can encapsulate their whole figure in lava. I'm planning on an evolution, but am making no promises. |
The facets/plates look kind of flat... Did you not shade any of them? :D
|
Well, I used http://www.dragonflycave.com/dpsprites/377regirock.png Regirock as a reference. Not much shading there. I'll give add some shading here and there but I'm not sure if it'd work well. In any case, they're supposed to be relatively flat; they're rock faces.
|
The difference there is that Regirock has a lot more facets, in varying sizes. Its torso looks like it has depth because of the way the facets shape it, and the gradual shift in shades. Your sprite has larger plates, which changes shades very quickly due to the sprite's size.
|
Hm, true point. This any better?
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/PyrockEdit.png Gah, Photobucket are really pissing me off now. Their layouts are trying to look "cool" and are really impractical. Srs. >:( |

I didn't realise how much it's changed o.o. I only just noticed I've got only two pages. srs? |
Golava's red spike things on the back is a little odd. It's not very centered with Golava's body. I also think that its face could use a little more contrast.
Everything else is fine and decent and I very much like the Deoxys revamp. The Electrode can have some more contrast as well with a little darker shade and a brighter highlight. |

http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Dumdoh.png
Dumdoh, the Idiot Pokémon Types: Normal Pokédex Entry: Their clumsiness is usually the death of them, and, despite having wings, they have never been recorded to have flown. It's a pure Normal type Dodo fake. Yes, I realise that Doduo is a dodo, but it's loosely based on one (well, two) and I think Dumdoh and Doduo are different enough as it is. |
Quote:
But it does look a little unbalanced based on the direction of the feet. It looks like there isn't a lot keeping the back end of it from falling. I'm not quite familiar with what dodos look like, but that's a wing, right? I only ask because it seems like it's too far forward, not quite on the side where you'd see wings on most birds. |
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Dumdoh-1.png
Is this an improvement? I've centred the feet a little more and oriented the wing properly. |
The Adventures of MonokidThe result of boredom~! http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Mockup.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Tallboil.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Monokid.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Sunny.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Trithorn.png So I was bored and had this spare palette and began making random shapes. As the subtitle suggests, all of this was the result of my boredom. No, it's not going to made into some sort of game, but the idea behind it is the the white blob, Monokid, is travelling the land to retreive his colour from the evil painters. The sun, Sunny, helps him out and stuff. I realise the mockup lacks hearts, health (wtf, I originally spelled this as gelath o.O), points, etc., but idrc. As I said, this is just a result of my boredom. Hover over the sprites for their names.__________________ Oh, and the palette can be found here: click. |
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Swewe.png

it's like Domo-kun's un-nervingly realistic cousin.
|
Ahaha, yeah! I made the angry one first and it was actually going to be a face on a fakemon I've yet to finish and it looked really out of place and realistic so I just cropped it and started editing it from there. Which probably explains why the angry one is the best.
Hm, it does look a bit like Domo. |
http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Coyseed-2.png
Coyseed, the Seed Pokémon. Type: Grass/Flying Pokédex Entry: This timid Pokémon floats around, in search of a safe place to stay. http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Swewe1.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/PyrockShiny-1.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Golava1.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Dumdoh1.pnghttp://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff288/Sphericalice/Alien1.png Some shinies. :D Oh, and Swewe is now called Sherbaa. |
http://i52.*.com/2w65ok4.png
So I was looking through my stuff and found this Shellos East scratch. :D |
Quote:
A bit lower we look at the back of the shellos. The first thing that came to my mind was the 'wing' in front. A black outline from the back seems to be cutting it off a bit. this makes it look a bit odd. Also the outline of the back is suddently getting a straight diagonal line downwards. The belly is also a bit too straight. Further the sprite looks fine to me. :p |
SHERBAA IS MY FAVE! I would love to see the preevos and evos in the future. (assuming you are)

http://i55.*.com/dpcy9d.png
Monana, the Ripe Pokémon. Type: Grass Also for altariaking's ROM Hack, a pre-evolution for Tropius. It's completely scratch (well, it uses Tropius' BW palette), and I'm rather proud of it. |

Really like the sprites of monokid - keep the good work up! ;)
As for the professr - I don't know what to say. xD He's so bold that his head is reflecting the light lol! Anyways, the lineart is good, it's just that i'm not too fond of bald characters. xD |
Your monokid work looks very nice. I remember your mockup of something not quite as advanced as what you have now and it would be great to see something like for your new work since these don't have much context. 'Cause you know, cute as these are, they need a cute environment. But yeah, I like these because they're simple, but still pleasing to look at for their cartoon-y characteristics.

These are some nice sprites. On monokid however, the highlights seem to be in wierd places. I would put them in a blob-like form, towards the top of the head. The highlight over the eyes just look wierd.
|
I think that's simply the style, as they all have the highlighting in that location, and the facial features are independant of the lighting effects. I rather like it, it gives a cutesy appearance.
