Lets talk Fossils.

Okay, so you know the script. Every generation so far (apart from Gen II) brought us new Fossils that we can make Pokemon out of. Every Fossil pokemon so far has been at least part Rock type.

Gen I brought us Kabuto&Kabutops, Omanyte&Omastar and Aerodactyl.
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/f/f7/Spr_4h_140.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/67/141.png...http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/c/ca/Spr_4h_138.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/d/d1/139.png...http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/d/d3/142.png

Gen III brought us Lileep&Cradily, and Anorith&Armaldo.
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e5/Spr_4d_345.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/6/67/346.png...http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/e/e0/Spr_4d_347.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/8e/348.png

Gen IV brought us Sheildon&Bastiodon, and Cranidos&Rampardos.
http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/7/7a/Spr_4p_410.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/8/87/411.png...http://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/9/9b/408.pnghttp://archives.bulbagarden.net/media/upload/f/ff/409.png

It begs the question, what does Gen V have in store for us? Will they cut the fossils like they did in Gen II, or will we get more fossil Pokemon? What will their secondary types be? What will they look like and what species will they be based on? Discuss.

Haza July 2nd, 2010 1:12 AM

I'm still crossing my fingers on that T-Rex or Saber Tooth, would look great in a Museum.

Ravecat July 2nd, 2010 1:20 AM

Preferably some sort of mollusc/cephalopod (orthocones?) and maybe a plesiosaur or some similar ocean-dwelling beast.

I love me some deep-sea creatures. Pokémon doesn't have enough.

Myles July 2nd, 2010 1:23 AM

We've already got primitive sea creatures, flying dinosaurs (I know not technically a dinosaur, but who cares) and both bipedal and quadruped land dinosaurs. So maybe a sea dinosaur (like Nessie) and a sabertooth tiger.

Amen to the Plesiosaur. As for me I'd like to see some Rock/Ghost fossil.

Roid July 2nd, 2010 1:26 AM

I would love to see fossils be reintroduced! A interesting feature would be that the player would mine (or whatever the player would have to do) to gather pieces to form a mega-fossil!

We could possibly see what would happen when the tour of Japan goes live!

Hibaru July 2nd, 2010 1:46 AM

Dragons and T-Rex is needed to me. Who would thought that Rock/Ghost type will come? Or Rock/Fire maybe? I don't know, We'll see what will come anyway.

Jigglymilk July 2nd, 2010 2:24 AM

I think desukan will be the new fossil. =o

Azure-Supernova July 2nd, 2010 3:08 AM

Hmmm, fossils... yes I agree we need more but what of I do not know.

I like the idea of a Sabretooth fossil though :3

I would really like non rock type fossil pokemon. Not all prehistoric pokemon have to be rock type.

Pandemonioum July 2nd, 2010 3:28 AM

Agreed, we need non Rock type fossils. And idea about mega fossil would be cool. Mining a pieces of huge fossil that would bring back ancient extinct legendary Pokemon :P

Cool! your dads an arch (w.e um a old thing explorer/researcher?) xD

idk why but i sense a raptor like fossil?

MartinJF July 2nd, 2010 3:42 AM

I can see it now:

A big beast, extinct when Groudon and Kyogre fought, and pieces of the fossil is shattered all around Isshu.

Didn't even consider this... Rock/Ghost and will be completely innovative on the idea of Fossil Pokemon.

Charizard★ July 2nd, 2010 4:09 AM

I would like to see a Velociraptor & a Ankylosaur Pokemon fossil :3

I do like this idea!!
maybe also when arceus stopped the meteor, the meteor let loose of certain fossils comin from outer space, and finding a new world XD

TheReal July 2nd, 2010 6:00 AM

Am I the only one that thinks there will be no new fossils?

Scorpio219 July 2nd, 2010 6:29 AM

wht if they had prehistoric mammals frozen in ice and you have to get like a heat up key item to thaw it out of ice like a sabertooth cave man fighting type wity mrowak like club or mamoth (even though they already have a mamoth)

I agree with this! They could use another type. Though I never really use the fossils anyways, so it'll probably end up in my PC.
---------
Hmm, there is always the possibility of them skipping out on fossils. I don't think we should have two new ones every gen, so lets do like II and skip it this time GF!

Dr. Faustus July 2nd, 2010 8:05 AM

I'm hoping for a deinonychus and tarbosaurus bataar fossil Pokemon...

Dominus Temporis July 2nd, 2010 8:57 AM

Oh man, there's a lot of options for fossils. Sabertooth tiger is a good choice, I agree. I wouldn't mind seeing T. rex or a Carnotaurus. Perhaps a stegosaur or velociraptor... an ankylosaur or giant ancient bugs... too many to fit into one generation, that's for sure. I wouldn't mind seeing the older ones available from the start as well. I've been wanting an excuse to use Omastar for some time now.

dead-man-walking July 2nd, 2010 9:10 AM

Whatever their form in Gen. V is, hopefully the Two-Staged ones will have better stats Post-Evo. >_>

495 as Total Base Stat is kinda embarrassing for something whose Fossil can be underground for thousands of years without getting scarred at all.

But torterra really looks like an ankylosaur. I don't think they will make another one.

Bamboo Basara July 2nd, 2010 9:16 AM

I love the Sabertooth Tiger and Stegosaurus idea.
The thing is, many prehistoric creatures have already been made into Pokemon. Lapras seems to be based on a Plesiosaur, Torterra is an Ankylosaurus and Tropius is a Brachiosaurus.

...As far as I remember, Torterra looked like a Tortoise. It's name is even a portmanteau of Tortoise and Terra (Which means earth).

Ankylosaur sounds nice. That way we'll have a Fossil 'mon with balanced Att/Def. And maybe a Fossil other than Aerodactyl that can shine in Compo.

Iqid Loopz July 2nd, 2010 9:33 AM

We need a Terra Bird fossil, flightless bird but with a Flying/Rock attribute. A "Lockness Monster Fossil" I forgot whats the actuall name. Stegosaurus fossil maybe, with the Ghost/Rock or Ice/Rock atrribute.

GrifSpark July 2nd, 2010 9:43 AM

I've actually put alot of thought into this, if any new fossils apear, then these would be the ones I would like to see
Either;

Smiledon (Saber-Tooth) Pokemon
Mastiodon
(Mammoth) Pokemon (I know Mamoswine's a Mammoth, but meh) Both Ice/Ground Type.

And as a third,

Phorusrhacidae (TerrorBird) Pokemon. This is Fire/Flying Type, making it a perfect counter to them.

Mainly because they all lived in a simaliar and timeframe. TerrorBirds were once the most feared predator of N.America, and were for along time. Untill the land masses of North and South America combined, then the Sabertooth's entered the same range of the terrorbirds, which made the terrorbirds extinct (Irony, as the most powerful of the three would be the Bird). And all across America, Mammoths travelled. Any straggelers would most likely be killed by Sabertooth tigers.

Or...

Stegosaurus Pokemon,
Grass/Rock Type
Iguanadon Pokemon,
Poison/Rock Type

A third...

Tyranosaurus Pokemon
Dragon/Rock

Simple because Dinosaurs are awesome. Iguanadon is a poison-type because they are known to have large, clawed thumbs... If only they could inflict poison...

Hope you like my ideas.

Volroc July 2nd, 2010 1:34 PM

velociraptor (rock/fire)
spinosaurus (rock/fire)
&those lil tiny dinosaurs that are vicious <3 (rock/dragon)

SargeantMajorKururu July 2nd, 2010 1:46 PM

Why not...

How about a Water/Rock Pokemon Fossil? Like a Mosasaur, or maybe a Compsognathus that could be an Electric/Rock because he's so tiny and quick?

Don't bypass the character limit. If you don't have anything productive to say, don't say anything at all.

hever July 2nd, 2010 1:52 PM

I would like to see a Stegosaurus in the game as a fossil.

Xebelleon July 2nd, 2010 1:57 PM

I want a fossil from an ice chunk or choice of ice chunk. Just not Brendan Fraser.

Hydrath July 2nd, 2010 2:02 PM

It to time to bring back the dodo bird pokemon

Not just innovative but just awesome. I have a feeling it could be because its a sarcophagus. Those are found in the desert. Theres a desert in the game. And it looks like an evolution of a pokemon. I really hope it is the new fossil!

Gymnotide July 2nd, 2010 3:13 PM

Archaeopteryx since we need to be more aware of raptors :/

Raikou is already a sabretooth :(

I hope you realize telling me this is not productive and by your definition, is against your own rules. I'm fully aware of the character limit, if I wasn't, how would I bypass it? You see, by telling me something I already know, you're being counter-productive yourself. Pointing out Lapras is already a "Nessie" is heavily productive good chap!

dante1w July 2nd, 2010 3:46 PM

generation 5 maybe have some tyranosaurus rexes or dinos that lived in the water

Silver25 July 2nd, 2010 5:20 PM

I would love to see a Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Saber-toothed Tiger, or Giganotosaurus.

lol, there is a ring of truth to what you are saying, but in past forum experiences, arguin with the admins/moderators is like arguin with the ref. you never win

Spinosaurus July 2nd, 2010 5:34 PM

I think it depends on which real word area Isshu is based on. If it's America, then the developers has a lot of options to choose from. I'd love to see an Utahraptor (Poison/Rock?), Anchiceratops (Electric/Rock?), Torvosaurus (Fire/Rock?) and Acrocanthosaurus (Water/Rock?) based Pokémon. 8D

But I'm prettty sure they would go with the most known Dinosaurs, such as the Tyrannosaurus and the Stegosaurus. :/

EDIT: How can I forget about the Megalodon? O: It would be AWESOME if there was a Megalodon based fossil Pokémon! 8D However, I'm not sure if Rock is a good type for it...maybe Water/Dark?

It actually was productive. He/she pointed out that Plesiosaur was already implemented in the game by means of lapras (a wonderful gen 1 pokemon).... in so few words that is.

Counter productive would be something like

GreenLanturn July 2nd, 2010 7:02 PM

Im hoping for some good fossil pokemon in these, i loved lileep/cradily and Anorith/Armaldo, the fourth Gen ones were just meh IMO. We need some that arent part rock type, like dinosaurs.

Iqid Loopz July 2nd, 2010 7:55 PM

Also I would like to add to my other list, a Dodo Bird Pokemon, Giant Sentapeed Pokemon, Megalodon...A 50 FOOT SHARK!

or Maybe a Therizinosaurus...

http://www.saysoon.net/foto/ImmaginiDinosauri/Therizinosaurus.bmp

Panfisha July 2nd, 2010 8:02 PM

I'd like to see more predatory dinosaur fossil pokemon. Maybe a spinosaurus, or allosaurus.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allosaurus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinosaurus

Le Creep! July 3rd, 2010 12:46 AM

Yes, I would like a true T-Rex Pokémon. Also, I hate the idea of having to press 'A' on a rugged rock everytime I would like to get a fossil, and I know the chances are very slim anyway :\

Perhaps during the game we could obtain a Spade and there would be a desert area, like you said, and we could shovel around for fossils. :D

Migueliscool July 3rd, 2010 12:47 AM

I would really like to see a see creature appear :D

Ninja Caterpie July 3rd, 2010 12:48 AM

I want some epic-looking fossil Pokémon. Given the epic looks of the Pokémon revealed so far, I don't think that's a long stretch.

A Fire-type Sabretooth? (well, with rock or ground as a second type, derp) A T-rex would be nice too (preferably with metal parts to make it look more kickass, xD). Plesiosaur's been done already, although I wouldn't mind another one.

A T-rex/Ankylosaur combo would be cool - one offense-based, the other defense-based, as all sets of fossils have been.

Le Creep! July 3rd, 2010 12:51 AM

A Sabre Tooth Pokémon! I think that would be great. It would be epic, IMO.

I think it would be a Dark or Normal type, however.

Migueliscool July 3rd, 2010 12:53 AM

You guys are neglecting the sea creature :(
There hasn't been a water/rock fossil yet

Torterra is an Ankylosaur without the mace ball thing on his tail.

Myles July 3rd, 2010 2:21 AM

Kabuto and Kabutops are also Water/Rock. And Lileep, Cradilly, Anorith and Armaldo, while not Water type, are based on sea creatures.

But yeah, I know what you mean. Relicanth would have been the perfect opportunity, but it didn't get the fossil treatment.

Yea something along the lines of Relicanth would be perfect. Imagine if they brought him back and and made an evo of him :O

Kardashian July 3rd, 2010 12:04 PM

i'm hoping for a saber tooth, though raikou is that already, maybe it will be parallel. trex also, though rampardos was loosely a small t-rex

i love pseudo-fossils too, like relicanth, xatu, and claydol. maybe we'll get some of those.

Bluemoon July 3rd, 2010 12:29 PM

How about for a change we have fossilized pokemon frozen in an iceberg?

Turnabout July 3rd, 2010 2:45 PM

They need to change the way you find fossils... :B
Smashing rocks in HGSS was pretty lame.

But yesss, I'd REALLY like to see a colossal fossil pokemon, a fossil that you can only complete on some kind of side quest, and you actually need to put effort into finding it haha..
Maybe you have to travel to many different fossil hunters to complete the skeleton?

I'd really like to see a feathery reptile actually..
The desert behind Hiun looks pretty promising, let's hope it doesn't let us down.

Nope. Rampardos = Stygimoloch or another Pachycephalosauridae. It hardly looks like a Tyrannosaurus anyways.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the Saber tooth? O_O I mean, there is Raikou. Why want another one when you got a lot of other options?

And also, for the sea creatures, I think Megalodon fits very well in my opinion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Megalodon
^ For those who don't know what a Megalodon is.

What I really want the most is both a Torvosaurus and Utahraptor based Pokémon. They both need some love. <3

quilkien July 3rd, 2010 3:55 PM

Saurolophus, microraptor, and triceratops are the only things on my wishlist. I just really don't want them to base them on things they have before.

Ravecat July 3rd, 2010 6:09 PM

I thought that at first, but I became quite fond of Omastar and especially Omanyte fairly recently.

They're so cute! :3

But they may just be because I like molluscs/cephalapods.

DXrobots July 3rd, 2010 6:14 PM

I'd like a stand alone T-rex fossil pokemon but I can't see it being any different from Tyranitar. but I think a saber tiger and triceratops would make great additions to the list of fossils but I'd like another stand alone fossil pokemon

Burning Glacier July 3rd, 2010 6:17 PM
