The Rockets have tripled in numbers!
Lol, I guess this could be classed as borderline StupidPointlessAnnoyingThreadMaking.
However, I'm really curious, as I just noticed this now.... If you've defeated the Red Gyarados at the Lake of Rage, then spoken to Lance, if you go to Goldenrod City, there are 2 more Team Rocket members! One of them is outside Radio Tower, saying something about taking it over, and the other....can't remember where he is. Maybe it was just 1 more.... Anyway, I thought I'd point this out. I don't have a shot of my DSi to prove it, but trust me, I wouldn't lie. |
Yes, that is the case (I found it out myself in my playthrough). Iin fact I believe it possibly is also in GSC as well (which may be why I checked when playing HGSS way back when, I don't quite recall atm =p).
TBH it doesn't exactly hold much potential discussion-wise to it, this topic though... but I might as well leave it open and expand the topic beyond this one instance of a neat little detail in HGSS to... well, post here if you noted anything other small touches/details that you thought neat in HGSS, and we'll see how that goes discussion-wise. =) |

Yes, it is the same in the originals. Although the rookie rocket member that gives you the uniform isn't in the orig., I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. |
^ That's correct - there was no go-disguised-as-a-rocket bit in GSC.
As for other small details... um,. Well there is a radio signal you can listen to (via the radio obviously) during the gyarados bit, as well as the fake tree which I thought was a neat addition from GSC. XD |

I also like how the Move Rememberer/Forgetter house has the sign in front of it that says something along the lines of "A mysterious House where Pokemon learn and forget moves." I chuckled at that for some reason. :P |

It is located in Blackthorne City. It is where the move forgetter was in GSC. :)

I also kinda like how they made Whirpools "traversable" rather than "erasable." Again, something i just kinda get a kick out of. XD |
By the way, don't forget about Team Rocket's sign for the base in Blackthorn.

That tree was a little odd. I didn't realise what it was until I tried headbutting it.
And that radio signal would make a good beat for techno music. It's quite catchy! |
I know!
I liked the Radio Signal. I actually only found that last night after posting this thread....I'm addicted to getting Buena's Passwords.... It's nicer than listening to the Rocket Theme all the time.... I like the sound effects they added: -Hearing running water when you're 1 or 2 steps away from water (depending on location). -Hearing the Whirlpools when you're near too. -And finally, the Waterfalls. When you're in the Cliff Cave, you can still hear the Waterfalls! (makes sense, really). I just find all the effects to do with water cool....I reckon in the RSE remakes, they might show you on your pokemon jumping up, then diving down when you use Dive. |
-That when you Headbutt trees in Mahagony Town, no Pokemon appear. Took me 20 minutes to figure that out.
-That when your battling Pryce, he says his middle name is Willow, and that Willows are strong. -In Blackthorn gym, dark colored lava on the floor of the gym make a giant dragon shape with its tail at the gym entrance and mouth at the furthest back of the gym. The Last one was the coolest to me. :) EDIT: Forgot the $ sign in Violet Gym. xD, What is the purpose of that? |
Even now, I always chuckle at that guy in the souvenir shop. "Oh, don't mind that noise... it's just... me whistling, yeah that's it... nothing unusual here..."

Wait wha-- what fake tree? o__o;
|
Where the antennae is once you've defeated Team Rocket at their Mahogany Town Hideout xD. Outside the Souveneir shop.
Lol, I also like how Sabrina's Gym is pretty much identical to how it is in Fr/Lg, just moderner. But the panels lead to different areas. I find that really neat. Especially when I went back to Fr/Lg and got lost (I know where the warp panels lead in this game) |
I never recalled a rule on 'SPATM'..
But, I like the tree and the sign(They try their hardest to cover up) I also would have been happier with Jessie and James in the game instead of Proton..and Archie and that person |
Think about this though: How did they take over an entire city when 10 year olds easily kick their butts?
|
The button on the computer to shut off the surveillance says, "The red button is flashing in a suspicious manner. Press it?" or something along those lines.
And the Rockets are able to take over because nobody wants to be near their Koffing or Rattata... no matter how low leveled they are. Rocket: I'm gonna beat you! *sends out five Lv21 Rattatas Rocket: What!? How could I lose!? |
Well, I recently started to listen to my radio on HG for whatever reason, and I found this show called "The top three of every town!" or something like that. What made this rather interesting was that eventually, it got to a town once known as "Cinnabar", and the show went a little something like this:
"The Top Three of Cinnabar! Number Three is... Ta-Da! The Volcano! After the eruption, not much is left, barring the still open crater of the volcano! Number Two is... ... ... ..Huh? ... There appears to be no number one as well!" I laughed really loudly. |
After you get dressed up in that silly Grunt costume, if you try talking to the townspeople, most of them have negative reactions ("Oh my gosh! Team Rocket! Get away from me!" "You...you joined Team Rocket? Why?"), which I found a little hurtful; you're going to be the savior of Johto, after all. But if you go to the Pokémon Center and talk to a little girl there, she'll say something along the lines of, "Hey, you're that big sis/big brother from earlier, aren't you? I thought so. You must have a good reason for being dressed like that, I know it."
From out of the mouths of babes. Or at least a girl's sprite half my size on the screen. Those NPCs ought to be ashamed. There was also a bit of dialogue up at the Goldenrod Gym. In front of the door is a Grunt blocking the way, as well as one of the trainers trying to get out. If you talk to them, the trainer will say, "Go on, get out of my way! You're in over your head if you think the members of the Goldenrod Gym are just going to stand by and let Team Rocket take over the town!" Made me happy to know that at least the Gym was trying to serve its purpose, if a lot slower then the player (beat the Tower in under twenty minutes). That wasn't in the original game, and that actually bothered me, considering the Gym is practically ten pixels away from the entrance to the Radio Tower. |
