I still have that dead cartridge.

Oh my beautiful homegrown non-hacked level 100's, how I miss you.

RIP Snorlax, Kabutops, Jolteon, Haunter, Charizard, and Gyarados... ;_;

now THIS sucks, my nuzlocke crystal just restarted also, so sad...

I lost all my memory when I put my game near a speaker for some reason O.o

First playthrough of Silver with little knowledge of how things worked ... needed another Pokemon with Attract so I left a male Togetic with Attract and a female Pikachu at the Daycare.

First egg, I accidentally hit B instead of A. Refused the egg. >_<
Left them in the daycare - after a very long time I finally realized it had been wayyyy longer than the last egg took, so I went to pick up my 'Mons and then put them back in daycare to "reset."

Togetic had gained like 13 levels (I'd forgotten he was such a low level) and managed to forget *all* of his old attacks. D:
Shut off the game and ran off in a huff.
Realized I could probably trade the old Togetic from a previous saved game I'd stored elsewhere, but could not for the life of me get TGB Dual to function properly.

And so the game still sits there, with me too bummed-out to use it again. :P

My moment had to be when I beat the Indigo Plateu for the 5th time, and won with a Caterpie that had one health left.

Clair not giving me the Rising badge after beating her
"I JUST DESTROYED YOUR ENTIRE TEAM WITH 1 POKEMON, GIVE ME THE DAMN BADGE!!!!!!"

I have played Pokemon Crystal many a time, and still have yet to hatch a shiny baby Pokemon from the Odd Egg. (There's a 50% chance jsyk)

I've played crystal three times, never shiny...
I have real bad luck XD

Ruin Maniac July 23rd, 2010 10:12 AM

Never ever legitimately recieved a shiny starter for any professor. After 3 years of missing Crystal, i finally found it and obtained a shiny cyndaquil

Pokemon Yellow, I was in Cerulean Cave and came across a Golbat

Wild GOLBAT appeared!
Go! VEE!
VEE used BITE!
GOLBAT uses CONFUSE RAY!
VEE is now confused!
VEE is confused!
VEE hurt itself in confusion!
GOLBAT used HAZE!
All STATUS changes are eliminated!
*repeat two or three times*
Wild GOLBAT fainted!

seriously if the GOLBAT is gonna confuse me, leave me confused or leave me alone

Mine would be when I was battling chuck and the fight got down to his last pokemon vs. my low level (somewhere from 5 to 15, I don't really remember) togepi and a tentacool I had just caught. Metronome turned into perish song, and I managed to live through the three turns... phew.

iNinja July 23rd, 2010 8:36 PM

It took forever trying to figure out how to beat Brock on Pokemon Yellow the first time I played it. Back when I had 0 pokemon skillz.

I remember when I first played Yellow, I somehow managed to scrape a win against Brock with a team made up of Rattata, Pidgeotto, Metapod, Nidoran male, Mankey and Pikachu

Mankey and the Nidos are perfect really, they learn Fighting attacks. :D

Weavile05 July 24th, 2010 5:08 PM

I was playing through yellow on an emulator just for kicks, deleted low kick on my mankey for karate chop to find out it was a normal type move in that game (I'd never played yellow before)... WWWWTTTTTFFFF?!

Emlam July 24th, 2010 6:14 PM

That never made the slightest bit of sense to me. >.< I was so relieved when they changed it over to Fighting - of course then I kept getting KOed because I forgot I couldn't send Rock Pokemon up against it anymore. O_O

Weavile05 July 24th, 2010 6:22 PM

Why in the world was it ever normal anyway?

TheNewRocketMovement July 25th, 2010 1:46 AM

I have no idea why it was a normal type move, I'm pretty sure Gust was as well, some of the move types back then made no sense.

Lynx93 July 25th, 2010 2:36 AM

My WTF moment was when I tried to pass sudowoodo in Crystal. I didn't planned to catch it, but when I entered the battle... It was SHINY, I didn't had any pokeball with me -_-' And since then I always buy Pokeballs in case if I meet rare or shiny one (not that I like to use them, just to have it).

Edit: Not only Karate Chop and Gust were Normal back then, but also Sand Attack and Bite.

lol, that sucks. Things like that happened to me so often back then. Now I always carry an abundance of PokeBalls with me on my journey.

omg, I went back to Red and remembered that GUST was normal, training Pidgey got a tad more difficult and I was no longer looking forward to Viridian Forrest. But then I caught a Pikachu and I was all better :D

Emlam July 25th, 2010 7:53 AM

I felt Bite made more sense being Normal, actually, though it's nice to have it as a Dark attack. Sand Attack ... didn't really matter to me 'cuz it does no damage. :P
Gust was annoying, yeah.

*wants a shiny Sudowoodo now*

*thinks about how inappropriate Sudowoodo looked before it attacked and you saw the sprite*

This could have happened to me, I was in The Lost Tower a few weeks ago, the screen flashed as it does when a wild Pokemon appears (Which annoyed me at the time) and then, a green Zubat appeared, luckily I had a nice number of Poke balls on me =D

Thats only the second time (Excluding the red Gyarados) I've encountered a shiny in the wild, the other one was a shiny Machop on Fire Red, stupidly I forgot I had it and restarted my game without trading it over =[

Anyhoo, lesson learned, always carry Pokeballs, I can only imagine how much I would kick myself if I bumped into a wild shiny and didn't have any Pokeballs on me.

WTF how good wrap was in RBY, when you couldn't attack, I hated the grass gym all because of wrap... WTF Wrap!

iNinja July 25th, 2010 8:38 PM

Going back to moves o_o, I remeber the move Low kick instead of doing damage according to weight, It had a flinch rate.

Weavile05 July 25th, 2010 8:49 PM

really? I didn't know that! I'm gonna have to take another look at all my poke's moves on the emulator...

lol, yeah!
You could take out anything, given it's speed stat was low enough.
