Frostweaver November 13th, 2004 5:47 PM

half of those "nc" move can certainly go away...

Let's start with reading the advanced trainer's guide, shall we?

Mullet November 13th, 2004 6:43 PM

Eww, Frosty's right most of the "nc" moves can go, that team needs a lot of help unfortuantly I'm to tired now, I'll be back later if Toothy hasn't alread done it that is, well I might post alterintives to what he posts. Nevermind I'll post something!

[email protected] Berry/Petaya Berry
Nature:+speed, -attack
EVs: Sp, attack, speed
Ice Beam/Calm Mind
T-Bolt
Psychic
Recover

[email protected] Berry
Nature:+attack, -Def (can't survive a Rock Slide anyway)
EVs:attack, speed
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Aerial Ace

I can only think of something for those two right now. Hope this helps!
:D

Toothache November 13th, 2004 11:40 PM

Replace Dragon Dance with Swords Dance on Charizard, and give it Salac Berry. Otherwise, use Mullet's moveset. As for the rest:

[email protected]/Salac/Liechi Berry
EV: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Att, - Def
Brick Break
Shadow Ball
Psychic/Earthquake/Rock Slide
Calm Mind/Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Earthquake

Yes, physical Mewtwo! Calm Mind is more of a fake-out technique, let people think Mewtwo is a special sweeper (and CM does give some Sp Def, so it's not entirely useless). Then, you have your choice of Brick Break for Dark types, Shadow Ball for other Psychics and Ghosts, and your choice of a physical or special move in the other two slots. You don't even need the STAB Psychic here, but it does help.

Blastoise: We can do a lot better than that for the cool tortoise.

[email protected]
EV: 252 HP, 129 Def/Sp Att, 129 Sp Def
Nature: + Sp Def, - Att
Surf/Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Yawn/Toxic/Rapid Spin/Withdraw
Yawn/Toxic/Rapid Spin/Withdraw

Zapdos: it's unfortunate that the EV system kind of nerfs Zapdos...

[email protected]/Salac/Petaya Berry
EV: 252 Speed, 252 Sp Att, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Speed/Sp Att, - Att
Thunder Wave
Thunderbolt
HP Ice
Substitute

It's the Jolteon moveset for Zapdos. It works almost as well, despite the loss in speed. Shame he can't mixed sweep or CM...

Registeel: Most difficult of the three Regis to use, IMO.

[email protected]/Chesto Berry
EV: 252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Sp Def
Nature: + Sp Def/Def, - Sp Att
HP Steel
Explosion
Curse/Double Team/Brick Break
Toxic/Rock Slide/Earthquake/Rest

Still has to fear Hazers, but gives you much to play with otherwise

Belreza November 14th, 2004 3:42 AM

Mullet November 14th, 2004 8:14 AM

The point of this thread is to rate thier team and give them suggestions.

I like Charizard with DD if you've got EVs in speed, and the Leichi rases his attack more if he happens to drop that low in HP, but that's just me.
:D

Mana Lugia November 14th, 2004 8:28 AM

Zard with DD won't ko jack. That's all I have to say.

um ur team has a very common weakness which is electric water and rock(aggron and tyranita are becoming common in teams now days)

if u want to add a skymory to ur team, the number of pokemon weak to electric will be added to 4

Toothache November 17th, 2004 3:53 AM

Don't bother including a team unless you're going to add moves and EV/natures as well. It's impossible to rate/improve a team when all you know is what Pokemon you have. And another note, anything less than L100 will not do if you want to be truly competitive.

um where are ur levels?

for ur ven,
take out leach seed and sleep powder for sunny day and solar beam so that it make the fighting style of fast solarbeam a.k.a. sunnybeam

for jolt
take out roar and hp for rain dance and thunder

for salamence take out earth quake for DC anyway how do u get dragon dance there?

Toothache November 19th, 2004 2:48 AM

Always assume the team is L100, so treat it as such.

Venusaur - it's the standard, so it works. Ignore lord of d's advice about Sunnybeaming, Venusaur doesn't have the speed to sweep with Solarbeam, so he gets chargrilled by faster fire types (Houndoom, Charizard, Arcanine, Blaziken, and so on)

Dugtrio - yet another standard, and he can learn Aerial Ace, if you wish to consider that over HP Flying.

Jolteon - I'd rather have Substitute over Roar, makes use of Jolteon's impressive speed and protects against status. Otherwise, it's another super-standard.

Suicune - HP Grass over Rest, otherwise Quaggy/Swampert messes you up. In fact, consider HP Grass over Ice Beam or Calm Mind.

Espeon - this setup screams Jynx to me as a way to counter it. Psychic and HP Ice vs an Ice/Psychic type to mess you over - almost as fast, and has Lovely Kiss AND Calm Mind to ruin Espeon's day. Houndoom also messes you up, and switching to save yourself from Houndoom too is risky because of Pursuit.

[email protected] Berry
EV: 252 Speed, 252 Sp Att, 6 Sp Def
Nature: + Speed/Sp Att, - Att
Calm Mind/Bite
Psychic/HP Water/HP Fire/HP Grass
Rain Dance/Sunny Day
Psychic/Morning Sun

Salamence - looks fine to me, although give Salamence max Speed and Attack EVs. Fire Blast doesn't need any Sp Att EV since it's only for anti-Skarmory purposes. Consider Rock Slide over Fire Blast though, it will increase in damage with Dragon Dance, and it's still effective enough to be a threat to Skarmory.

Apart from the Espeon, it's another super-standard team.

GVG November 19th, 2004 9:35 AM

Yeah I think it's standard but it rocks. Now I'm trying to create an original team which revolves around Giraffarig but it's hard because neither the defence stats nor the attack stats of Giraffarig are of best quality. As soon as I think of something good I'll let you know

bluedragonite November 21st, 2004 12:58 AM

Girafarig makes for a decent Baton Passer (Amnesia, Agility, Calm Mind). Consider a pseudopassing move like Light Screen or Wish for some protection while you boost stats.

And bluedragonite, I think you're in the wrong forum. So lay off the spam. Thanks.
